The fact is, the more I got pulled in to the game's amazing theatrics, the less I cared. The things that have always sucked about Resident Evil still bite the big one in Code Veronica. In addition to the wonky control, the item box is still evil. And yes, you still can only hold the load of a 5 year-old with one hand tied behind their back. But by the same token, everything, from the cameras to the incredible level of facial detail in some of the cinemas sets new standards for the genre, and this is easily the most impressive entry into the Resident Evil series to date. The game is a true testament to the hardware, and a survival horror freak's wish come true. If you think you can handle this two-disk terror, turn down the lights, crank up the volume, and prepare for a an overdose of fright. This one's a keeper.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica is the best game in the series, thanks to features like dynamic real-time camera angles, a wonderful linear story, and some of the best graphics seen on the Dreamcast. To call it a must-own game is a definite understatement.
I admit that I doubted Capcom's ability to continue their fear effect *snicker* with the Resident Evil franchise. But it seems that they are not only becoming bigger and more graphically intense, but more engrossing as well. With the crisp new 3D world, the wonderfully modeled characters, music and sound effects to die for (couldn't help it), and a story line that takes you on a 2 disc ride of suspense, what else do you need? Well, maybe better voice actors. Steve's voice was grating on me throughout the first half of the game. But other than that, this game is a must own Dreamcast title along with Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, and Dead or Alive 2.

Um jogo absurdo de bom. A história e o enredo são excelentes, mantendo o jogador preso do início ao fim. Os puzzles são muito bem elaborados, e a ambientação, junto com os mapas, é incrível. Também é o jogo mais dificil da serie.

Great game given It's age and while it does feature a lot of backtracking and a ton of areas with difficult enemies sometimes just spammed through them I'd say the ending compensates for it, it really feels rewarding.

I've always loved Resident Evil but played them in a non-linear way. RE1, then RE4, 5, 2, 7, 3, 8, RE2make, 6, 9, Revelations somewhere inbetween... I guess you get what I mean. I've always been particularly fond of RE 1/2/3 and Code Veronica was one of my greatest "to-dos" in my "great classics" list. Yesterday I finished Code Veronica and I was considering jumping into the disruptive RE3make or RE0. I was curious about how did Code Veronica score in comparison of RE3make and... Wow, I did NOT expect such high scores, specially from media of course but also from the community, which has alwas kind of given a "heads up" about Code Veronica when discussed in forums. Code Veronica is big, but also small, and kind of a mess. The maps designs are incredibly hard to understand, never before have I found myself playing a classic Resident Evil, or Silent Hill, or whatever, and have I found myself so lost and having so much trouble keeping the map layout in my head. An elevator with 4 visible stops only shows three buttons. Some item falls in some deep place underneath the prison and guess what: You don't get there going to the lowest place the main elevator allows or even through the secret underground you access through an even deeper elevator, but through some chain of stairs put in the most possible random place. There's a long, long run between the main locations in the island and you better get right at the first time where should you use every key item or prepare to waste a good amount of time going back an forth. Be ready to go back to the same location as Chris, but this time random doors are locked and be ready to do some long trips around the previously visited areas to get the new keys. Oh! And this time you have a LOT of ink ribbons BUT you just get a couple typewriters pretty far from whatever place you have to go, sometimes even without a item box next to them. Bosses are also remarkably bad, aiming has been made harder for no good reason, a particular moment near the ending is incredibly unfair and frustrating, the final boss **** so bad it's unbelievable, and overall the game feels like wanting to be obnoxious with the problem solving just for the sake of being obnoxious. The level design shows some flashes of brilliance far buried into too many bad choices and absurdly random key spots. The writing also has too many ridiculous moments and the plot and events are straight up embarrassingly bad. But on the other hand, I think there's some charm to it and everything is susceptible to be teared down to a primordial soup from where a remake can result in a truly great game.

Es un pilar histórico que ayudó a progresar el concepto cinemático de la saga. Desafortunadamente, sus mecánicas han envejecido peor que la saga de PS1.

incredibly boring. i rarely look back at older resident evil games and despise them like i did with this one. hopefully they'll make it actually enjoyable in the remake unless they make it even worse like they did with resident evil 3 remake.

One of the most over glazed resident evil games oat. controls ****, story is ok, voice acting comparable to the original RE1, and Steve is one of the most annoying characters of all time. Anyone who says this is higher than a 5 is a larper who didn’t actually play this game

SummaryResident Evil Code: Veronica takes up the story of Claire Redfield, a character from Resident Evil 2. In that game she was searching for her brother Chris (a missing S.T.A.R.S. member) and in Resident Evil Code: Veronica we follow her to Europe where she continues her search at Umbrella headquarters.
