While not suitable for those sensitive to flashing lights and jump scares, Alan Wake 2 is a unique must-play for fans of weird horror and creative flair. The additions and improvements to gameplay are a welcome change, with less focus on the action and more attention paid to narrative. That being said, Alan Wake 2 still excels in all departments, and the slightly frustrating sections can be forgiven when receiving the rewards of more story. I have avoided describing the convoluted story in too much detail - due to the high cinematic standard, Alan Wake 2 is best experienced first-hand.
Alan Wake 2 is a thrilling follow-up to its original, with a rich, intertwining narrative and genuinely terrifying moments. Aside from some combat pitfalls, it’s a nearly flawless sequel.
Call it a masterpiece or a work of art. Both apply. I rate the game as five stars out of five.

Good mood and atmosphere. Characters and story are solid. Controls are pretty bad. Some puzzle elements and levels are unnecessarily tricky. Player character gives hints that don’t fit. That subway level can go straight to hell. 5/10, not because the game is mid, but because it is 50% 3/10 and 7/10. Maybe they should switch to just writing books/comics/movies/shows, instead of designing video games.

I hated 50 percent of this game and I really did love 50 percent of it. So, I give it a five out of ten. A lot of work has obviously gone into this ( music, world, characters, ) but so much of it is a slow, frustrating, headache-inducing slog. If there's another Alan Wake game hopefully it will be more like the original. I should also point out there's some woke nonsense, but it can largely be ignored. Games aren't cheap so I'm sure that BlackRock money came in handy - 5 stars

First, I want to say what I love about this game. First, it stays true to the feelings of the original Alan Wake and even expands upon them. It is slow, plot-focused, and relies upon both a great and relatively straight-forward narrative and atmospheric storytelling and does both well. The soundtrack is alright, much like the first, it works to set the mood. The gameplay is fantastic. The graphics are amazing and can be greatly customized to work on virtually any "gaming" PC. The puzzles are pretty good, not too hard, not too easy. The combat is fantastic, no more endless and repetitive hordes of Taken draining your battery and surrounding you. The combat is perfectly spaced out, frequent enough to consistantly feel like a threat, and sparce enough to not get repetitive. The plot is great, and the DLC add a lot to it. Now for the negative. The first is rather minor, I feel like Saga detracted a little bit from the plot. This game isn't called "Saga and Wake" it's called "Alan Wake 2." She could have been a much smaller part or have been a large DLC, but Alan only having half of the game (less than half if you count the DLC and that random guy you start the game as in the forest) then it should have been given marketed differently.) The second is major, and is what cost this game 5-6 score points in my opinion: This game is far. too. bloody. Wow. It's so violent. I recently got into the Alan Wake series, and loved Alan Wake 1, so I was very upset when I saw the sequel was rated M, as I don't enjoy violence in video games (I might enjoy the challenge of combat, but not the violence itself). I spent hours and hours trying to mod or code the gore out of this game, as I had done with some other titles. After failed attempt after failed attempt, I gave up. I played the game on one-shot mode and intentionally shot from the hip at the taken's legs to exploit a bug to avoid the blood splatter. If they include a setting to lessen the horror, and also to remove the nudity, couldn't they do that for the blood? Very disappointing. I'm looking forwards to Control: Resonance, but not Saga and Wake 2.

Remedy deserves all the praise I can muster for being brave enough to make some exciting design choices that limit Alan Wake 2's mass appeal, but increase the enjoyment for those of us who remain. They deserve for me to call this game what I think it is - a masterpiece.

From start to finish Alan Wake 2 goes from slow burn investigative sequences to pulse pounding survival horror. The game is a masterpiece of modern gaming and criminally underplayed, just like its prequel. The graphics, production value, characters and story are honestly second to none. I look forward to watching the story unfold.

Jogo zero defeitos, me impressionou, há tempos não tinha a sensação de jogar um jogo que me fizesse sentir intrigado e curioso com o futuro, ver o universo da remedy é algo que nos deveria fazer contemplar o que é vídeo game, parabéns.

13 years since its predecessor, Alan Wake 2 was absolutely worth the wait. Improving on the original in every way, with Remedy embracing their inspirations, and honing their craft, Alan Wake 2 is a surrealist horror masterpiece.

An expertly crafted narrative and two fascinating main characters make for a lovingly crafted sequel that is well and truly worth the 13-year wait.

Alan Wake 2 is the best Remedy Entertainment game, and is a strong contender for one of the best games of 2023.

Alan Wake 2 is a creative, atmospheric story highlight, but from a technical point of view it gives you little nightmares on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

I adored the first Alan Wake, and I’ve either loved or liked every Remedy game since then. This is the first time I’ve felt so displeased by the studio’s work I’ve actually been angry about it. The pompous writing, the shoehorned mechanics that push a tiresome narrative conceit over the quality of the narrative itself, the archaic combat, the amount of time it spends doing almost nothing, Alan Wake 2 is fucking insufferable most of the time...It’s impossible to tell where the stylistically bad writing of the title character ends and the inadvertently bad game of Alan Wake 2 begins. The difference, at this point, matters not.

Just one word: Masterpiece! Blending cinema, music, art and game together while keeping the flow of the gameplay! I have experienced some technical difficulties particularly in lighting side, but that’s nothing compared to the sensational experience this game provides!

had fun in this headache inducing but still woefully beautifully crafted movie-game, it really does certain things u wont expect with the constant switch from real life to horror sequences to more video gamey elements, it really has a very memorable art style that still manages to stay in my mind well after finishing it! the gameplay is not that amazing, but art style and presentation is where this game really stands out.

I have tried twice to get into Alan Wake 2. I have only made it a couple of hours in each time. It is a slow, dull burn. My time is valuable and there are too many other games out there that are more deserving of my time. Graphically the game is amazing and maybe the story gets really interesting down the line, but Im not going to keep playing hours on in, with that hope in my mind. A whole lot of walking around and my God the mind place is such a waste of time, pouring through data that does nothing to push the story forward. Everything in this place could just be experience in real time in the world vs going to this room to pin **** to the wall....time to move on.
