I had a nice time with a game, kept my interest. Yeah, its not Resident Evil, but still ok:)

This is a low-budget clone of "Resident Evil". It feels like a PC game from the early 2000's. The game is campy and filled with "spot the 90's reference" easter eggs. It has clunky mechanics and goofy voice acting, but is still fun. Overall, "Daymare" classifies as a guilty pleasure. You can say it's a "bad, but good" survival horror game. I'd rate this with a 7.2 out of 10

It is an older style feeling to it story needs improvement fun easy to get into. From a Og Resident evil fan it does not have the horror sense and way more forgiving. Its hardest mode is like normal to resident evil. the environment is great

A mostly enjoyable experience for RE-fans. Pros -classic action horror game exploration
-original setting, certain story elements
-combat was decent, except a few gimmick fights
-atmosphere
-good gameplay gimmicks although not polished enough Cons -few of the puzzles tried too hard
-enemy variety
-optimization(low fps)
-voice acting of a major character was lacking at best Feel a 6 is justifiable, would recommend it to anyone to scratch the itch for another RE-game.

Let's get it out if the way, game is janky AF, graphics are mediocre, and voice acting is one of the Worst I've Ever heard And yet the atmosphere and gameplay is so good I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would, the music, sound effects and general overall feeling is th closest thing to original Resident Evil 2 I've played, and that even includes The RE2 Remake, and the reload mechanic is a welcome addition that adds a lot of tension to the combat While it shows the limited budget the game was made of it's a worthy experience than any Survival horror fan should give it a chance

Really fun throwback to old survivor horror games. The atmosphere is insane and especially the sound design is frightening. There are flaws (like a certain mechanic in the last chapter), but overall the game is fun.

I'm glad Resident Evil 2 was left to the professionals. As much as fans nitpick at Capcom, this title is as pretentious as it is undercooked. The second character runs like a **** I'm sorry for using that word but there is no better way to describe it. Why would you put this in the game? It's just silly. I stopped playing after getting to the parking lot because I could see that this game was just going to be a joke. This is coming from someone who is desperate for a new game to play right now. That being said I don't think that I alone could make a game like this by myself so to all the people who got together to make it: **** have made something at least. I'm very glad I got this game for free and didn't end up paying for it.

A highly ambitious indy title. If you enjoyed the survival horror of the 90s you will find enjoyment here, otherwise its probably not for you. Clunkier movements and vague puzzles, a tedious inventory will definitely turn away many modern gamers. If you love terrible b movie acting and scripts, you will find it here. It's not perfect but for the $15 i paid its definitely worth it.

Daymare 1998 is one of those games that once you finish it, you think to yourself, what the hell were they thinking? Daymare 1998 is a game originally started as a fan made Resident Evil 2 remake, which eventually sorted turned into its own game after capcom decided to do a remake of Resident evil 2. As for Daymare 1998, the game is bad, the game has poor story telling and development, its one of the worse story telling and development i have seen in a video game. The three characters you play as are unlikeable and their facial models are pretty bad. The gameplay has some deal of competence, however due to bad performance optimization, the game suffers from serious frame drops and even input controller laggg, which simply is unacceptable. The environmental models and textures are well done, so the developers do deserve some props for that. Sound is fairly good too, though the mp5 sounds horrible when fired. Voice acting was atrocious, im not even going to get into awful dialogue. The final chapter of game really some's up how bad this game is, you face off with the final boss multiple times. The final boss AI is completely braindead and can even break entirely, causing the creature to grind to a complete halt. Glitches and clippings through doors and walls plague this game and sometimes there's weird physics, where the neck of a zombie can grow and begin to wobble in strange manner, never seen anything like this before. And the Puzzles, in particular the very first one is horrible and frustrating. Everything besides environmental design and sound is truly horrible. I don't understand why so many gamers are giving this game a pass, it was made by an Indy team of 10 people, that's more than allot of other Indi titles. Highly not recommended, 4/10.

Хороший наследник Resident Evil, я уверен что к следующей части она будет становится только лучше! Удачи команде разработчиков в их начинаниях!

I would advise anyone who is considering buying this game because it give them Resident Evil vibes, DO NOT! This game is so bad to me it’s unplayable. Let’s me go ahead and tell y’all my thoughts and overall experience with this game. First off there’s two types of modes to choose from, from the start of the game classic and modern. Classic is considered “the way the game was intended to be played by the dev team”. Whereas modern is more in lack of better words more modern to current survival horror games. I of course choose classic because it’s what anyone with common sense that’s a gamer would choose. Especially if it’s recommended by the dev team. So the game graphically looks like a dog **** than another dog ate that dog **** threw up and another dog ate that ****ty throw up. It literally looks like a PS2/PS3 game. It controls so slow and wonky and janky its almost comical. Puzzles to the game are complete trash. The reloading in “classic mode” might be my biggest wtf is this idiotic decision by the devs. You have ammo and you have clips and you can have multiple clips you can throw ammo into and you can either press quite to do a quick reload but you drop your clip but if you hold square you just reload like you normally would in any game. Same applies for using meds to heal/buff yourself. I read in modern mode the reloading is different and more like regular games that don’t have a dumb reload ****’s just a very idiotic decision by the dev team, again to me. The enemy designs look terrible the acting is completely horrendous. My first three hours of the game and I deleted it off my console and won’t touch it again. And I was playing on my PS5 to and it still ran badly. Why I deleted it you ask? Well because after three hours into the game I got to a point where your suppose to go outside but ll the security doors drop and your locked in to fight off hordes of zombies until they are open again and your free to go. So I end up getting killed. It’s fine you die you start over understandable not even mad I died. So the game loads up tells me press X I do and when I load back up in the game I **** you not the games literally looking like a dev team is in the working on it as we speak. No walls no floor, nothing but the security gates are visible and that’s it. Again I die on purpose because it glitched and I didn’t want to play it like that so load back up in the game. Things resume to normal and I jump back in I come close to beating the section but than I die, cool no biggie trial and error right? Wrong different error occurs this time around and it literally loads me up maybe ten minutes from the beginning of the game. Look at my objectives and literally it’s like I’m starting all over. It glitched so hard that it told me sorry start over from the start again. Complete waste of my 14 bucks I spent buying it on Amazon. I read somewhere someone said this is the poor mans resident evil. Nope it’s not even that this **** isn’t even Aldi brand if there is something cheaper than Wish than thats what this is. I feel bad saying all this because I know devs worked hard but man they didn’t work hard enough to save this monstrosity of a poop shoot game. Funny thing I looked at all the reviews prior and saw all the negative stuff about the still and still choose to buy it and give it a try. Only reason I’m giving it a two is because it has reminiscent moments of resident evil vibes. But I wouldn’t recommend anyone playing this trash broken glitchy janky game. And mind you I’m playing this now in may 2021. They have had one or two years since release to patch up and fix as much as they can and still it played like crap and looked like crap. I’m sorry Daymare 1998 but you should be brought behind the shed and put to bed. How y’all are making a sequel/prequel is beyond me. Hopefully you learn from your massive and many mistakes. But for now you lose a customer from trusting or buying your **** If you wanna have a good laugh get high as **** off some weed or drunk off some alcohol and play this maybe than it’ll be worth the $. But once you sober up you’ll be kicking yourself in the head. Describe Daymare 1998 in one word for how the game is......TRASH.

Great game whit amazing atmosphere, and compelling story, gameplay was also good and puzzle where amazing, it was a welcome return to real survival horror game from the 90s... It surely have its flaws like some minor bug and frame rate issues but if you think this was made by a team of 10 people it amazing... I personally enjoyed this game more than resident evil 3 remake

Edit: I changed my score to an 8 even though technically I'd like it to have a 7.5. As mentioned in my review the game has a serviceable story. UNTIL the end. It's a shame that all the story happens in the last couple scenes, but it's very interesting and sets up a sequel very well. Hopefully the next daymare game does a better job at spreading story throughout because the stage set is genuinely interesting. Daymare 1998 is a very hard game to review. The atmosphere and tension the game NAILS. If you're a fan of old school resident evil you'll love this aspect of it. I am and almost immediately fell in love with this aspect of the game. This game oozes passion. You can clearly see the devs love this style of game and pour their hearts and souls into it. You're probably wondering "with praise like that why only a 7?" That's because on a technical level this game is very mediocre. I mentioned almost immediately you can feel the tension and atmosphere. Well you can also immediately tell this game is kinda clunky. The controls work, and you get used to them, but it still feels a little off. Imagine more fluid then classic RE but less fluid them modern RE **** shooting in particular is very hit and miss. Literally. Some shots 100% I felt I should have missed but they counted as hits, and likewise shots that should have been right on the money for a headshot missed. It feels like maybe the game uses an aim assist sometimes but it does a poor job. This is particularly a problem for a game of this nature, and especially in higher difficulties ammo can be very scarce. Losing a bullet or 2 every few encounters can have huge ramifications. I found medium distance my shots tended to count as hits the most often so i tried to keep in that sweet spot. Even so, the atmosphere and the passion was so palpable I still was happy to keep playing. The graphics and voice acting. Graphics are very hit and miss as well. Some of the character models look rough. Not terrible terrible but definitely less then average. This is from a small studio so this gets a little wiggle room from me. Especially with some of areas in the game looking absolutely fantastic. The voice acting ranges from passable to super cheesy. I can't honestly say it's bad because to me it kinda feels like it's trying to emulate the classic cheesy dialogue from classic resident evil so i admit rather then loathing it i usually ended up getting a chuckle from it. Glitches. Here's where daymare takes a big hit that I can't defend. I got very lucky in my playthrough, some of this is I'm sure related to the patches that have come post launch, but I only had 1 decent glitch. A zombie clipped into a wall and i couldn't see it until it was attacking me. I lost health due to an enemy i couldn't even see. After reading online I've seen glitches ranging from this, to doors not opening blocking progression forcing a reload, to some even having to restart the game because reloading wouldn't fix the issue. As much as I like this game overall, despite it's faults, I can't defend this side of it. Again I only encountered the one glitch, and I'm guessing since I played so far after launch most of these issues have been patched, but I have to mention them since they can be so gamebreaking. The story is serviceable. Without getting into spoilers it's not bad. Not great, not bad, just decent. It's clear the devs set this up for more entries (even in an interview they mentioned they envisioned it as a trilogy) and I hope they flesh out the lore and story a bit more. There's so many places they could go with it but as of now they barely touched it. I will say some of the documents expanding on the lore are genuinely interesting. My final verdict, right now amazon has this game for 20 bucks. Granted I milked it a little for collectibles but I got around 13ish hours for my first playthrough. For that price I can genuinely say this is worth it, but only if you're a fan of classic survival horror. Most likely I'll do another playthrough in a couple months because i enjoyed it that much. Despite all it's faults the passion makes this product a great experience for fans of the genre. I just wish I could give it a higher score. If passion alone equaled quality this game would be a 10 out of 10.

When this game first released it had a ridiculas reload system and anouying obscure puzzles. Thankfull niw all that cumbersome anouying stuff can be turned off and whats left is a very decent horror game. The shhoting feels great in Daymare all thr impirtant stuff for a good durvival horror is here. Atmosphete exploration and interesting but not over powering combat. Performance on console is nit great, its clearly a low budget game. But ill suport a game like this that strives to reach Old school horror greatness, over the bland walking simulator puzzle games we get from studios like Blobber team and Red Barrels.

this is a good RE tribute. a good story and cool 90's cult references. the game play plays like a fresher RE title while still holding some of the survival horror shooter tendencies. have played through twice and did encounter a few glitches that required a reload from auto checkpoints . 1 glitch unfortunetly was game breaking and i had to completely restart. though i didnt like the last chapter, i'd give the rest of the game some huge thumbs ups !!!!!

Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of the horror genre since the 1980s. With all the hype and a very promising premise, this game could have been an immediate classic – however, it only manages to be a Resident Evil franchise gone bad. There are some cool homages to the 1990s (like the funny movie posters and the DeLorean's from "Back to the Future") and some tongue-in-cheek humor (nonetheless, the inclusion of the developers studios in the game might be a bit overboard). On the downside, a very unpolished look that doesn't seem worthy of a PS4 release, tedious and frustrating backtracking for items, a very clumsy user interface, excessive load times between sections and incredibly difficult boss battles turn you off, which might deter you from finishing the game. Also, the final level is a mess – it is surely the most frustrating sequence of gaming I've ever experienced on any platform. Conclusion: I know this was developed by an independent studio comprised of a very short team, but at the discounted 40 EUR price-point I got it, it just feels as a plain rip-off.

Another game I couldn't wait to play, as a fan of the 90s survival horror games! And in a way, it's exactly what I wanted, and what I expected. A game with a 90s feel and design. Creepy atmosphere, zombies and other mutants, limited ammo, puzzles, it has it all. But a few glitches (one bad one, had to restart the game, and my save was far away), a way to reload your weapons that is weird and unnecessary complicated, one very complex for nothing puzzle (damn Greek keyboard), and sometimes a very bad framerate (also an enemy that follows you in the sewer and with its gameplay, blah). Is it broken? Sometimes, definitely seems that way. Is it bad? No. Definitely worth a look if you like the genre. But definitely not a great game. There were better survival horror back then, and better now.

Many complain about the inventory management and about Bullet management, I think it is actually one of the best parts of the game. The people that complain do not understand what a survival horror game is about. The clunky controls, hard inventory management, slow moving characters and enemies that are Bullet sponges are all there to create tension, to actually make you worried and tense about the next part of the game. Bottom line if you are old school, tank control Resident Evil fan you will certainly enjoy this game

my gosh...with these fake reviews I just died!!!!! anyway folks,a complete piece of trash, no-sense plot, terrifying and clunky controls, graphics at its worse,a sad combination of plagiarism and anonymous stuff with the worse characterization ever, without speaking about the enemies and protagonists' models, and animations, that look all the same. And it also costs a lot for this complete buggy crap of just 3/4 hours! +++THE GOOD+++ +nicle title ---THE BAD--- -Terrible graphics, animations, models, design, face expressions -It's a dishonest plagiarism -story feels anonymous and flat as the less inspiring RESIDENT EEVIL -Some of the worse gameplay controls in a survival horror game, the bullets inventory is **** -Absolutely uncharming and flat characters and enemies design and characterization -39$ for a shiiit like this and black edition is just just terrible! -combination of music and sfx at its worse -some of the funniest bugs and glitches ever that few times shutdown the game too. -voice acting...i've chills, tragically ugly!!! -a waste of time and money!!!!! do not make games, change job folks!

This is without doubt the most annoying, frustrating broken game I have played in a very long time, from a hospital thats full of trees, walls and roofs that disappear, enemies that disappear when you line up a shot, to one's that appear from nowhere and kill **** would be fine if it was just "hard" but it's a broken mess, awful voice acting, shoddy story there's simply nothing I can recommend about this game at all.

Chapter 5 is entitled "Zero Sum Game" - and that is patently accurate to this game. Beautiful level designs and well detailed terrains. Great Easter Egg homages hidden throughout the levels. The city streets looks better than even most Resident Evil or Silent Hill games. Too bad the story is absurdly incoherent, the characters are entirely unlikable and baffling in motive, and the weapon ammo system is frustrating beyond belief. Whoever said video games need to be more realistic with how ammo is managed (clips, etc.) never played this game. Most of the consumable items (stamina refills, mental drops) are completely pointless and a waste of space in an unnecessarily strict item management system. The healing item mixing system is also baffling in how overly complicated it is. Dropping off items in the "storage box" requires you to have binoculars to read what items you are even choosing. Even switching weapons is a long, drawn out process which frustrayes the player and opens them to slow attackers. The main character hunts down military guys even though his wife was murdered by a monster. If you lost your loved one to a zombie in the Zombie Apocalypse, would you go on a tear of vengeance searching a city WITH AN AERIAL GAS CONTAMINANT wafting through the streets just to search for the specific monster which killed her, and then forget and start hunting down random military survivors? Why does the park service employ a government employee to singlehandedly watch for forest fires, lost aircrafts, etc. when he has a severe psychological disorder which constantly creates severe hallucinations? I wonder how many false sightings he called in because he forgot his meds (again)... No characters make sense, or have personalities worth noting. The hit detection is garbage. The item management system is frustrating for no reason. The story is utter rubbish. This game absolutely wasted the level and background designers' hard work and beautiful atmosphere.

This game is far from perfect, but the passion that the developer had during the development was huge! I followed Invader Studios effort since the RE2 fan remake and they really are an amazing team. The game is still one of my favourite game of the last few years, try it you will not regret it.

This game presents a great atmosphere, a good story with an interesting ending, some nice mechanics (like the reloading system), and good survival horror elements. Also, if you take the time to read all the optional text files, it really give you an interesting lore behind everything happening in the game. Yes, the controls can feel clunky sometimes, the fluidity of the game is not always perfect, the boss fights are not amazing, but it really throws you back to the 90s with his gloomy atmosphere and countless references to pop culture. This is a great indie game, and you should take it for what it is, don't expect the level of polish you can see in RE2 remake or similar titles. Give it a try!

Overall I really enjoyed this game, however there are plenty of valid complaints against it. The controls are clunky and ruin the immersion, there are areas where you clip on objects around you due to the clunky controls, aiming can feel like you're just shooting in a general direction rather than using pinpoint accuracy, there are numerous typos throughout the game... Despite all of that, I really had fun playing the game and I'll probably give it a few extra playthroughs to get through everything. The story is compelling, the documents provide heaps of lore, the writing and voice acting is campy but honestly I think that adds to the charm of the game. If you're a fan of the original Resident Evil games, you'll probably enjoy this. For better, or for worse.

This is the game every survival horror/Resident Evil fan was waiting for! After RE4 I couldn't find any valid similar experience and this is exactly what I was waiting for: the gameplay is solid, the reload mechanic is genius and the atmosphere is so good I can't believe this is not a CAPCOM game. I think CAPCOM should be truly grateful to the developers of this game. Of course there are issues, graphical glitches e some frame rate drops, especially in PS4 version, but considering the small team of developers (10 people, I believe), the results are astounding. Everybody should give this game a chance, because i am SURE the next game they make will be even more amazing. TRY IT

This game really does have a lot of positives. The graphics are very good and the game itself is very much in the RE style. The game has a good set of options to make all the necessary adjustments for playing the game itself. The characters and the story whilst reasonably good, some of the dialogue and voice acting is pretty ordinary. In my opinion there are two major issues this game has that lets its overall quality down. 1. The guns in this game feel like toys and thus detract majorly from the game and its gameplay. 2. Even more than the first point the reload system and interaction from the inventory is so bad. If the devs do read these reviews (and I hope they do) PLEASE fix these two issues and I feel you would improve this game immensely. Overall this game is a very decent game that is let down badly by the two main points mentioned above in my opinion. The game itself would be so much better if they were fixed.

It' like to be re jumped in the 90's ! I am a long term fan of survival horror games and i must say that this game spread love to all the fans out there! The atmosphere is so good and scary, the graphics are also so cool, considering this was the first Invader studio's game. Gameplay works fine, i love the reloading system , the menu interface and the old school enigmas. The facials animation are not too good, but considering this is an indie game, i recommed everyone to give it a try. I played both PC and PS4 version. The PS4 porting works fine and the controls are perfectly re- adapted from the PC! version-

Controls are terrible, let's explain it simply you have to load individual bullets into each magazine before you can use the magazines. Even then if you fast reload instead of slow you lose the magazines so must pick them back up manually. The inventory system is about as manageable as a brick, you have different tabs you can use in here but since the game isn't paused when you use it, you gotta decide when to use it. Two of the tabs are useless - map and collection of stuff. Never use those, the place isn't a maze and it's hardly worth the effort to bring up the map. Actually the third tab health is useless too, it tries to be metal gear solid 3 but you'll just be using the quick heal button. So you have one tab that you'll use out of four. Nicely done. Be glad this team didn't do resident evil 2 remake. Yes they are small, but that's no excuse to make you pay £30 for a game barely worth £10. The dialogue is terrible, the story is forgettable and the shooting is ugh. Your character is also prone to bugging out when moving or interacting with things (hit R2 to get out of this) seriously my character got stuck in a locker before he even fired a shot. Graphics are sub par, music forgettable and the dialogue is spoken as if they're 12 year olds doing a school play. They try to borrow so many ideas from the resident evil series, they forget what it was all about. Don't buy, don't rent, just forget this game exists and move on.

This game lacks polish as most indie games do but I believe it still delivers on its vision. The combat is clunky but it gets the job done and the puzzles are very good considering most survival horror puzzles these days amount to rehashing the children’s puzzle toys from a dentists waiting room. While I can not suggest this game to everyone I will highly recommend it to fans of classic and mid 2000’s survival horror.

I'm an old survival horror fan. I loved the game on PC and now I'm enjoying also on PS4. The game is not perfect, but we own so much to them and to what they did with the Resident Evil 2 remake too. A great game with a real "survival horror" feelings. The reloading system is an amazing game mechanics!
