This game has it's strong moments like some good songs and a small number of good story beats and monster designs are great as expected from Atlus, The battle system is very uninspired and dated. If you are much stronger than an enemies then the game becomes the worst action battle system ever. The Archetype system is the worst aspect of the gameplay and having to level them individually and for each character. Though the menu looks good functionally they are poor. I hate silent protagonists this games protagonist only seems to talk in rare cases and usually speaking dialogue you pick from the list and so the protagonist still lacks a personality and is lame and badly hurts the game story. The game story is very uninteresting and the characters also aren't very interesting. The story been bad makes the games pacing feel off since this game has a lot of story and a lot of really boring dialogue. The side stories with side characters are boring. The game is one of those where the story is boring for most of it but gets better towards the end to leave you with a false positive impression. The graphics of the game are pretty bad and there is few decent animated scenes, it's mostly lazy stock animated story. The game isn't all voiced and so when you have it on auto for the voiced bit, it also is autos on non voiced bits which can cause accidently missing some story if you forget to turn auto off. Though some music is good like the battle music or the archetype room music, most of it is forgettable. I like turn-based battles system but they can be really tiresome if the games pacing is poor and this games pacing is horrible.

The story is pretty solid and for the first half of the game pretty story focused. When the game opens up the difficulty ramps up. This is one of those turn-based JRPGs that becomes really cheap and luck based for difficulty though, which is extremely frustrating. When the game opens up though your given a fake freedom where you think you have options but really because of the cheap difficulty your better off doing things in a certain order you have no way of knowing. The later have of the game unfair game design really hurts the game.

This game has so much clunkiness especially in regards to platforming, but the final straw was a simple target shooting mini game where the hit detection is broken and if you fail you don't have enough ammo to try again and so you come back to do it again only to remember it was behind a slow box moving puzzle that's reset and so every time you fail because of the buggy mini game you have to redo a slow moving box puzzle. I had enough with the game at that point.

Progress through the story is very bad compared the the original games because it's very menu based. Your constantly in and out of menus choose the next bit of story in the menu and so the game just loses any sense of adventure. The game gameplay is extremely grindy and tedious. The character progressing and building up their power is very slow and their is no sense of achievement because they constantly keep moving the goal post with new things you need to do. So if you aiming for any kind of goal you feel like your time is been wasted. I highly recommend not playing this because it doesn't respect your time or deserve it.

The story is ok and the music is very repetitive. The gameplay is very slow and grindy with you slowly progressing through a repetitive environment, but still pretty enjoyable as it has the SMT demon collecting fun. That fun is quickly zapped away by how cheap the game's difficulty is. I have never been a fan of the silent protagonists or instant game overs when only the main character goes down and so those aspects bring it down a lot for me as usual.

+ Game has a cool base which gets upgraded and populated over time.+- The story is good but it's nothing special.+- You gain items which allow you to better explore the world giving the game a metroid like feel, but your limited in how many you can carry, which is pointless added tedium.- I hate silent proganists and thus I find Adol to be lame souless and dull.- The base stops upgrading after the first 1/3 of the game.- Combat is simple, not a bad thing, but games long length means it gets old.- The characters are pretty unorignal.- Music is very generic and forgettable like other Falcom games.- Graphically it looks like PS2 game running in an emulator.- Side quests are terrable.= I was enjoying this game alot in the first 1/3 but over time the game started to drag for me. I'd have left the game with higher praise had the game been short and the story had a quicker pace.

The game is very generous with resources and is very free to play friendly but when the game is this bad, then the free goodies have no value.

+ Graphics overall look great. + Story is really good with changes making it still fresh. + Music is very good. + The battle system is alot of fun and the synergy between characters gives the sense that the character have bonded since Remake part 1. + The Open world is given in bit so it isn't overwhelming and the different chocobo mounts make exploration in each feel different. + The verity in side content helps prevent the game getting boring while other open world games the side content can feel more like work. The side quest are also very good and some have parts of the map pacifically made for them. - The game has too much side content. I think the towers and the scanning crystals should have been cut from the game. - The mini games are mostly very good. Queens Blood is great and the piano mini games controls are too imprecise. - The mini games do appear in the main story and when the game has so many mini games having them also apear in the main story is a bit overkill. - Music sometimes makes it hard to hear the voices. - Battles towards the end are made difficult by been very cheap. - The ending is confusing and rushed forward earlyer into the story. = Overally I liked Remake part 1 bit more as I prefer the games story focus. Rebirth makes the mistake of having more side content then main story making the side content feel like the main game and the story simply been a means to get the next wave of side content. It's very much a high quality open world style game for those who prefer that and I actally did really enjoy doing the side content which is rare for me. Even though I did have some issue with the game, It still has been the most fun I have had with a game in some time and so it's still got to have high marks.

+ The map has changed at least some what so there is a little of what made Breath of the Wild great, discovering things. - The game reuses too much from Breath of the Wild. - The puzzle range from extremely good to extremely bad and too many of them require the painful building to progress. - The worst aspect of BotW was the weapon breaking and for some reason it's in this game too. - Adds horrible areas above that are a pain to get to and around. - Adds bland dark largely empty areas underground. - Adds vehicles that are a pain to build and horrible to control. - The vehicle parts are not easiy enough to get. - The story isn't very good and the quests are not always very clear. = The game is too much like Breath of the Wild which was a great game but everything that's new is horrible and they make the game painful to play. The reason my review is so late, despite getting the game at launch is simply that I have struggled to play it because I keep losing interest in it. It's so painful to be in the sky and to tediously build a flying machine that you struggle to control and the battey runs out so your stopping and starting and then for it's life span to end on you half way across and you then fall to the ground. The game does have it's moments where it's a 10 out of 10 but those moments are surrounded by alot of boring and frustrating gameplay.

Presentation The game has some of the best graphics I have seen to date, The music in the game is very good. Love the voice acting and me been a Yorkshiremen I love that there are multiple characters using Yorkshire dialect like Mid. Largest settlements that you may have seen in the trailers that your keen to explore can't be entered naturally and explored. They are linear moments in the game. The game could have had more secret bonus areas to explore. Story The Story is good but it's not at the level I have come to expect from a Final Fantasy game. The story starts off very good but after a big story point about 25% in, the story becomes less enjoyable. This is because (been as vague as possible) they took something out of the story that was working and failed to replace it with something as good. Also the story becomes very formulaic with the game having the feeling like it's broken up into levels. Story is almost always serious and there isn't enough good story moment between the main characters. Clive had more relationship building with side quest givers than the main cast. Like Mid has more personality than Jill. Final Fantasy XV had many side quests but they didn't prevent you getting to know the 4 main characters. The side quests are for the most part very mid to bad and there is a very high number of them. Some of the later side quest offer pretty good stories but apart from 2 or 3 they don't do much character development for the main cast and so I found my self not caring as much and they aren't very fun to do from a game-play angle. The main cast is so underdeveloped it would be hard to tell which ones even count as the main cast. Because many of the side quests are miss-able it makes you feel like you need to do them but doing so really hurts the games pacing as your constantly getting a new wave of side quest to do and it also makes the game even more easy, it hurts the games otherwise good battle system. Game-play The world is pretty big and there are many locations to travel though. The game relies on the map screen too much, it really hurts immersion. The map comes together more as you play but it still very much map screen and teleporting focused. The the game auto runs and so if you want to explore at a more casual pace to take in the sights, it's very clunky. The battle system has been getting a lot of criticism but I think it is a great deal of fun. The controls of having to cycle between different Eikons is clunky and the Eikon abilities are overpowered which centres the combat around them too much. I found the combat more fun at the start when you only had the one. Some of the big Eikon battles can be extremely long winded and tedious despite visually been amazing. They just take forever to go down. 16 too often feels way too easy, even with out the assistance accessories and I am one of these people who was wanting an easy mode in the Souls games and so, if this game is easy to me then it really is easy. There should have been the option of a harder mode from the start. There is a a bug were enemies are almost dead and they will walk to their starting position and reset their health to full. Normally in games you have to lead the enemy far away form their starting position for this to happen. In FF16 it can happen very close to it. Though I enjoyed 16's battle system, I personally prefered VII Remake's Action/ATB hybrid style battle system. Thoughts There has been claims that this isn't a true Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy 1 through to 9 were all very similar in their game design and all been menu based battle systems (1, 2 and 3 been Turn-based and 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 been ATB) and also having top down overworlds to explore that functioned in a similar way to each other. Final Fantasy 16 is very different from those earlier games. 10 went back to been turn-based switching from the classic Final Fantasy ATB system but lost the overworld and the series has had more drastic changes since and so by now, change have become more than just story and world and been a bigger part of Final Fantasy and I think it's unfair to say Final Fantasy 16 isn't a true Final Fantasy game especially since Final Fantasy XV had already made the jump to action based combat with big battles against giant enemies. Plot also has many similar story beats to other Final Fantasy games like Final Fantasy XV. Main Character been royalty, father dying at the start, war between nations, the end of the world slowly creeping forward and city powered by a crystal. The story feels like a Final Fantasy story. I really enjoyed Final Fantasy 16 despite the issues as it's a very high quality title and the are areas where it does shine keep the game been a lot of fun.

+ The story is pretty good. + The image quality is improved from the 2nd game. + Voice acting is really good. + It's very easy to become over powered early if you enjoy that. - The story though good isn't as good as the previous games. - The characters didn't interest me as much here. - Exploration was the biggest let down in this game. - The world is very empty and lacks proper towns to see in the landscape. - Never been a big fan of the battle system in the first place, after so many games it's so stale. - Your team constantly keep saying the same things over and over after a battle. = The battle system been stale and the exploration and story been a step down from previous games, this game is a huge disappointment though it's still good in places. The story despite been a step down has it's moments, there is a very good story point about 2/3 into the game I won't spoil. The environment isn't as fun to explore but there is a more open bit later but getting around it is a nightmare because of the boat you have which has horrible controls. I really hope the 4th game reboots the series with a much improved battle system and a more interesting world to explore, hopefully on better future Nintendo hardware.

- Story in this game is like a kid's cartoon. The story treat every battle like sparing practise. - Bad guys joining you after you beat them and it happens over and over. So repetitive. - Like the past games this game feels like it's way longer than it deserves to be. - Horrible pacing. The story is watered down juice and the juice wasn't good to begin with. - Do you love it when you finish a game then don't get the full ending? - Battle system was great but hasn't changed in the 4 games much. - Not enough new locations to see. = The story is some how even worse in this game and the pacing is some how just as slow despite this been the game the story has built up to. I am done with doing dull tasks after the credits to get the right ending. This is the worst of the 4 Cold Steel games and should have been the best.

+Great Graphics, animation and voice acting. Presentation is top class. +Dialogue mostly voice acted and very little reading. +-The story is pretty good but only gets really interesting in the last quarter of the game. -Story is overly structured and formulaic in the first 3 quarters of the game. -The combat tend to turn into a chaotic mess once you have 4 people in battle. -Combat controls don't feel responsive at all because you can't cancel. -The music isn't very memorable. -Fishing mini game, how original. It's not one of the better ones either. =The story through most of the game is very formulaic going from area to area for the same task. The last quarter of the game is very heavy on the story it's almost like a visual novel and the tales games tend to over do it a bit with skits, which are little story segments. If the story was better in this tales of game they would be more enjoyable and the game's pacing is just a bit off.

+ The gun combat and stealth is just like the first game and it still holds up. + The AI is good during combat. + Animation is ground breaking. + It's much longer than the first game. + The game does has some few good story moments like the last 2 hours. + I like Elle's battle with her conscience in the story. + lots of accessibility options. +- Graphics are fantastic, but it's sadly covered in a fake horrible film grain. - While hidden, AI is very predictable with their movements. All stealth games have this issue though. - Can't switch which side of the shoulder your camera is on, only while aiming you can. - The story is really slow in the bulk of the game and a bit lackluster. - Too much of the story felt like you was doing detours, like getting fuel or medical supplies. - I felt a lot of my time was looking for loot and it's like I needed to do it even though it got old. - The story going forwards and backwards in time too often hurts the pacing of the story. = The story isn't as good as the first game and even though the graphics are better, the image looks horrible with the film grain. You can turn the grain off while in photo mode and it's sad because the game looks so much better with it off, It's such a shame. You can have it with a unstable 30 fps or just 1080p. I switched it to off. - The entire second half of the game has really dull copy paste environments to go though. - V is a terrible character to play as and the game switches the character you control way too often. - There luckily isn't a lot of platforming in the game but when there is, it's very bad. - The game can be a bit too silly at times. = I found my self mostly liking the game for the story and though the combat is good, it's hard to get too into with the constant character switching. Overall it's stunning. + Animation is fantastic and there is so many story cut scenes that look great. + Certain big moments have much more emotional impact than the PS1. + Maybe the best action combat in an JRPG to date. + I'd love to see the OST for this game as there is so many different great songs in this game. - There are times where it feels unfair when your spells keep getting interrupted. = If your unhappy that it isn't turn based, well I hate to break it to you but the only mainline FF games to be turn based are 1, 2, 3 and 10. Madness! = One small thing can completely ruin a game and aim assist ruins this game. Takes away a lot of the benefits of the 60fps and makes the game feel like it's playing it's self.

+ Great battle system returns. + Still has great characters. +- Lots of revisiting old locations from the first game. - First game ended on a climax. The 2nd game starts by killing that intensity. - The game some how has worse pacing than the first game. - Large part of the story is simply finding your class mates. - More open world this time, but it it's easy to miss stuff as a result and slows pacing. - Mech battles are too basic and easy to be fun.

+ Story is very basic with some funny dialogue. + The 5 worlds and hub are very well designed and a lot of fun to explore. + Some of the mini games and challenges are frustrating but most are fun. + In the game you have many abilities to help you do everything in the worlds. + The game has a variety of game play elements, including an isometric area in one. - Rextro mini games you have to play to get pagies, would of been better had these been easier.

+ What little you get for your money is a lot of fun. + The controls are 'solid'. - Quality is more important than quantity, but this game really is just too short. - The story was too short to make much sense. - Sub mission offer extra length but they're in the same location and aren't anything special.

+ Though hard to learn it's really not that hard comparing to pro software. + Community creations load extremely quickly. + It's crazy how many different things you can make in Dreams. +- Story mode is FANTASTIC but ultra short. So don't buy Dreams for this alone. - Even in high resolution mode, Dreams looks a bit blurry and dotty in places. - Objects are made up of 'flecks' and levels can look too fluffy. - My biggest issue is my PS4 Pro fan is VERY loud while playing Dreams. Irritating! - Very strict limits on the number of different objects in a scene. = I was one of the lucky ones to get into the Dreams alpha, but I just can't give this game a high score with just how horrible it can be to play when your console sounds like a vacuum cleaner while playing it and I am shocked they just never did anything about it with any of the updates.

+ For a crowd funded game, graphics are pretty good. + Love to see old faces and also Ryo's original voice. +- Huge Shenmue fan, so I enjoyed the game despite the many flaws. - New features like herb collecting and the need to eat food only makes the 3rd entry worse. - The game is shorter than 2 and is also padded more. - Another added feature that makes 3 worse is the leveling grind with boring training mini games. - With out Sega's stuff, arcade games and capsule toy machines are not as fun. - The game lacks the polish of past games and it has the same crowd pop-in only worse. - Fighting in the game feels a lot more like button bashing than the past 2 games. - Quick time events are far worse and the timing is very strict. - The story conclusion we all was waiting for isn't here, in fact the story doesn't progress much. - The dialogue, some how is more robotic than the past games and often doesn't make sense. - The forklift mini game is back but it's way worse.

+ Great pixel art. + Controls are tight + Not overly maze like. + It's not full of gimmicks that hurt other retro style games. + Doesn't get too difficult too quickly. +- Music is a mixed bag, some great and so irritating music. - I love finding secrets but with this game it's kinda forced and not an extra.

+ The game has some good ideas + Towns remind me of Shenmue with the locals going about their lives around the town. + Towns have things to do like quests and card collecting. + The sound track is very unique and works perfectly with the odd tone for the game. + The reason to play this is for the odd story. +- The story is bad but in a good way though the last parts of the story are just bad. - Driving around towns is a pain as the cars handle bad and the engine sounds are super annoying. - Main aspect of the game is like Resident Evil 4, only horrible.. Something to slug though. - The game is buggy and the PS3 version has a really low framerate. - The graphics are very bad. - Deadly Premonition is a good idea executed terribly. I can't recommend it, through I did enjoy it.

+ Story is great and if you like a lot of story you might love this. + One of the best looking games on the market. + Game has great weather sound effects and music. + The game is at it's best when you walking into a new area and carrying a lot. + Simple act of movement and exploration has never been so fun in a game. - Some bits of the story are a bit bland and should of been cut. - Doing lots of jobs in the same area can get tedious. - Oddly the stealth aspects of the game are basic and bad. - The game needs a bit more variety and less tedium.

+ I like the crafting idea and collecting resourses. + Semi open world is a great middle ground between PS1 MGS and PS4 MGS5. + Keep wanting to try again when I die. - Stealth in the game is barebones, flaw and forced on you with the lack of ammo. - No stealth kills. - The game has a overly huge aiming cycle so the bullets mostly don't go where your aiming. - When getting shot at it pushes your aim off direction way too much. - Enemies take too many bullets to go down, having to reload to take down one guy. Geez.

+ The PS1 version is the best game ever made, this isn't the PS1 version though. + Will make you love the PS1 more and make you wish you was playing it on that instead. - Cheats are added to the push of the analogue sticks which are easy to turn on by mistake. - Character models are not all faithful to the original, Squall for example looking more anime. - Menus in battle are laggy at times. - Looks worse on PS4 as the pixelated look on PS1 made it look more detailed. - Textures don't line up right anymore and the roads textures are broken. - Pre-rendered backgrounds have lost detail in the smoothing process. - At one of the best points in the game it oddly uses the music from the PC version. - Analogue controls don't function correctly. - Rumble is removed. - The low score seems harsh, but this is supposed to be a remaster. - SquareEnix have a track record for remasters that are inferior to the originals.

+ The battle system looks very cool. + The game has nice graphics and atmosphere. - The story is very bad and barely exists until much later into the game. - This game has a very short story that's been diluted with boring quests. - Though the battles look cool, they are poorly explained and confusing despite been simple. - Once you finally learn the poorly explained battle system you find you only need one strategy. - Targeting is really clunky in battles. - There is a Map grid system you can get stat upgrades, items and open up areas. It ****.

+ Great graphics that make exploration fun. + collecting materials is oddly really fun. + There is lots of different distinctive armor to acquire and you can see it on your character. + Arena fights are more fun as they don't run off and you can fight multiple monsters at once. - A lot of the weapon types are horrible or boring to use, like with some been ultra sluggish. - Most monsters fight patterns are basic and they take forever to kill and annoyingly run off. - The game is ultra tedious. - Not much in the way of a story. - The online component involves a lot of waiting. - No pause button when playing alone. - Level design gets worse as you progress. - Button layout seems to have been chosen at random.
