Tales of Arise

Indeed, Tales of Arise is a game designed for long-term Tales franchise fans and those who have never picked up a franchise entry before, where story, combat, and various features come together to deliver a high-quality, highly-detailed JRPG. All of that makes it not just one of the best JRPGs on the market today, but one of the best games hands-down.

Tales of Arise is a successfully comeback story. It’s definitely one of the most refreshing Tales game and probably one of the best JRPGs launched in 2021. I’m not sure if Bandai Namco planned to make the Tales franchise mainstream, but that’s something that Tales of Arise manage to achieve, and that’s probably the best compliment I can give the game. My only concern is related to how Bandai Namco chose to advertise the paid DLC in-game, which consists of cosmetic items and spice up your adventures through Dahna. Resting in camps will always run an advert in the right corner, which totally breaks immersion. Other than that, I believe Tales of Arise is not just the best game in the Tales series, but also one of the best titles launched this year. More importantly, the Tales franchise has finally gone mainstream and I’m very happy that more players are joining its fan club.

Tales of Arise went above and beyond our expectations. With its picturesque landscapes instilling a real sense of adventure, it's easily one of the strongest, most cohesive Tales games to date. Dramatic cutscenes and memorable character moments help sell an intriguing story, while a satisfying combat system becomes more and more engaging as your party powers up. A fantastic, modernised journey with all the rewarding qualities of a classic JRPG.

Tales of Arise is a great game and a significant step forward from its predecessor, a wonderful mix of bright narrative and excellent gameplay.

Bandai Namco created something special here. Fast-paced, accessible combat meets a well-constructed narrative told with beautiful visuals, wonderful voice work, and an impeccable soundtrack. Even with its odd issue here and there, nothing stands in the way of Tales of Arise succeeding on all levels.

Tales of Arise is a triumph in almost every way, delivering a strong narrative, well-developed characters, and combat that feels snappier than ever. This is the next step in the evolution of the Tales series, and the future looks awfully bright.

Taken as a whole, Tales of Arise is a very good RPG, boasting beautiful visuals, a wonderful cast of characters, and engaging combat mechanics--but its flaws (and that odious DLC) are also difficult to ignore. If you're looking for a lengthy, charming, and engaging JRPG to play on your shiny new console or PC gaming rig, Tales of Arise is certainly a fine choice. Just don't go into it expecting an all-time classic.

Not a bad game for my first experience in the tales series but it really overstays things in that final 1/3 and loses itself. I thought the first 2/3 or so was very solid, the world building, characters, music and basic story are all good to great. The combat in enjoyable and solid with the repetition hurting of course all in that last part and the bosses being a bit too spongey later. The progression and moments in story are intruiguing and solid but again it loses it all in act 3. Somehow aliens become the reason ah yes they fell into the RPG trap in the end and totally undermine the race conflicts with their explanations. And please for the love of god dont just do repeat attack callout in battle its SO grating and annoying once it gets to 50+ hours of "eternal devastation " "eternal devastation " over and over again. If most tales games are like this i dont think i can get on that train. I think they did good with shionne and a few others here and lots of dialogue (pokemon could learn) but it went way overboard and ultimately fell apart. Solid, try it for a discount its ok. Its not gonna suddenly break the RPG barriers and molds though its just ok but that in itself is okay.

This game had some notable moments, generally in the first half, in the second half it begins to drag and becomes a chore to complete, so I can give it an average score at best.

No thanks. I bought the game due to the good reviews. However, the game really disappoints. The plot is so predictable and the skits are especially annoying. Why can't they just make them into cut scenes? I feel the developers are just being lazy and it feels weird for gamers to stare at some static slides and listen to the unimportant dialogues. The only thing I like about the game is the combat but overall it was a total waste of time.
