A saga that I could not try at its time, and now I'm starting it... The truth is that I was a little disappointed with this game, it's not that it's bad in itself, I just had some expectations. The gameplay feels very slow and is not as dynamic as I expected, either moving around the map or the combat system, yet it is still enjoyable as far as it goes. Outside of the main story, the small side objectives don't add anything, they are repetitive and there are like two or three different ones. The plot is not bad at all, the simple fact of how the story happens and the timeline I liked it a lot, of course, it doesn't escape from pretty generic clichés but it works. It's not a bad start at all for a saga now that it's well cemented.
The third release of the reboot seems to close a pretty solid trilogy (or not?). Although the gameplay doesn't have many changes over the previous game, it feels a bit more polished, with a couple of new mechanics, and a good map that keeps you entertained for hours. The story starts off pretty well but becomes generic and predictable, the map doesn't feel as varied as Rise..., being limited to certain types of outfits and blocking your equipment within the main area is a bit annoying. The Definitive version brings some extra challenges that are a good plus, several non-functional skins, but varied. I still feel that Rise... is somewhat superior, however, this release is balanced and works very well.
The second release of the saga felt a bit more polished in terms of control, however, it still feels like limited gameplay. The plot is also quite cliché, however, this time the plot development felt "a bit better", it includes another campaign (like Resident Evil) with another character; Lucia. This mini-campaign doesn't add so much and doesn't have so many changes but it complements the story. Putting both campaigns together the game barely lasts 6 hours like its predecessor. The final result left me with a bit of a bittersweet taste because although the technical improvements are noticeable, it still leaves much to be desired. PS: I played the HD version for PS4 and I think it looks pretty good.
Maybe it sounds harsh with the first release of DMC, however, it has a plot that apart from being mediocre, is not told in a correct way, considering that Capcom has Resident Evil releases since 1996 with a better story. The gameplay is a bit weird, it still seems to have a certain base of an RE and it takes a while to get used to it; it feels limited and repetitive but it's understandable. In the end, this first game in this saga left me somewhat disappointed. PS: I played the HD version for PS4, and despite being a remaster, I think for the time it came released on PS2 it looked pretty good.
What a trip... I don't think I could ever become a complete "fan" of Drake and company despite enjoying their games (I didn't play them at their time, and I felt that in certain aspects they were inferior to Tomb Raider), however now that I was able to play all 4 titles in a row, and despite their clichés, I've been delighted with the end of the saga (Drake's, before Lost Legacy XD). Audiovisually it's amazing, and that was one of the first PS4 games, a super polished gameplay compared to the previous installment, and with a highly entertaining campaign, despite the clichés. Now Nate and his friends live in my heart. #fanboy
I was, like many, a fan of Battlefield 3 for years, and although there are newer Battlefields now, I barely got to try Battlefield 4. A very short and cliché plot, as expected, however, it doesn't even come close to any Call of Duty; forgettable characters, boring moments, flat campaign. Of course, Battlefield shines for its audiovisual aspect, and the gameplay certainly surpasses any CoD. As always the MultiPlayer is its forte and it is fun. I think I do not feel so many differences from 3 to 4, except for the technical section, so the MP works and fun as the previous edition. Good Premium Content.
Same gameplay and graphics as Resident Evil 2 - what could go wrong? Even with its new gameplay additions, RE3 disappointed me; short but no extras, the original plot has been modified too much (it's not horrible like that The Umbrella Chronicles summary at least), I don't dislike the character redesign, but another lab? at least the original omitted that and made it less repetitive, not The Mercenaries? the scenarios and gameplay were perfect for it, what a waste, and even at the end it felt like a reduction of puzzles to make the game more fluid and with some more action (RE 5 vibes). Yes, RE3 felt like a small expansion of RE2 (same with its original counterpart) and the plot changes don't do it any favors, in my opinion. I enjoyed this game as much as I could but without a doubt, I could say it's even below RE 7.
I know it's a free to play but it's boring and slow, it feels like a CoD4: MW nerfed with current graphics. PS. why the hell did they make a horrible Soap model having the remastered version of MW2?
When I like a game I have little to say. Graphically it's great, I love the gameplay, it's fun, fluid but at the same time makes you feel vulnerable, it works almost perfect. The plot of the original RE2 is adapted and improved; the changes favor it and it doesn't ruin the original legacy. Yes it is a short game, but having the same system of A and B gives it replay value, also it has some extra minigames. It feels like a good Resident Evil. If RE2 was already one of my favorites, this adaptation enhances it in the best way, a good mix between RE2 + RE4 + RE7. PS. I think my only complaint would be that I don't consider this title as a remake, if not a reinterpretation, due to the big camera change, don't get me wrong, I love this perspective from the shoulder, but I think that for it to be a remake, a classic camera was necessary. Still it's one of my favorite RE (better than RE 7, btw).
I cannot say that much about such a polished game. Good gameplay, great length, graphically beautiful, a lot of mechanics (not all of them feel necessary and functional), good story, even the simplest mission brings something to The Witcher lore. The extra stories in the DLCs vary; Blood & Wine is very good, but Hearts of Stone isn't as interesting, but it works. This piece left me with a great experience and more than a 9 can be a 9.7/10. For a fairly simple game, it's a lot of fun. Its great achievement is knowing how to take advantage of its simple gameplay to design fun levels. If you play alone you can get bored very easily.
Along with Batman, the arachnid is my other favorite super hero and as you know both have very similar games (well, actually Batman has his Arkham saga made up of 5 titles). Comparing Marvel's Spider-Man with a Batman Arkham is undeniable, however, Spidey manages to feel fresh thanks to the "tone" that his work has. Visually it's beautiful, you have no idea how much I enjoyed swinging for hours and hours around the city. The combat system is great and undoubtedly the best part, it has a good story and very much in keeping with the hero, sadly it is somewhat predictable, but still, its plot grabs you. The story included in the DLCs of this full version is also quite entertaining, but still does not escape the clichés. The big problem with Spider-Man is that its side missions and other types of assaults, combat, etc. are extremely repetitive and contribute very little. Yes, for the most part there are variations (even more so in the extra story) that make everything somewhat less repetitive, but it still suffers from it. All of this is more digestible thanks to its aforementioned fun and good combat gameplay. Even with all this, it's a game that never got boring and was a great experience. I had already been able to play this title back in 2015 on PS3, but now I was able to replay it on PS4, and obviously it looks and feels better for the different generations. However, it is still noticeable that sadly this game had a low budget and I could assure that graphically it is inferior even to RE 5. Despite having this " low budget" production, the sequel to Revelations is undoubtedly superior to RE 6 as a survival horror. The horror tone, the puzzles (albeit few), the plot development and the drama, make this sequel very enjoyable, no matter how short it may be. Another complaint would be that the gameplay in general feels stilted or cut short (just as Revelations felt), also its two extra chapters, while adding some story, are pretty bad. This leaves Revelations 2 as a worthy successor to the saga, I wish this had been RE 6. [Link omitted per site rules]
Each game has aged very well, this remastering has been excellent for them. A great trilogy assembled to be enjoyed again. It is worthwhile to replay these games, and if you could never play them, so much the better.
Although I am not a big fan of the saga, I have to admit that Silent Hill is a great work Its rough gameplay works for the genre. Most of all, its story is of great weight, the development of the plot is undoubtedly its strength, and I'm sure that at the time it marked many gamers.
For me, Revelations is superior to RE5. I think it's the sequel we deserved. The PS4 version looks and feels good, however, I think it would have been a better idea to do a remaster, you can still feel that its original version was for Nintendo 3DS. Still, this work has the elements to be a worthy "modern" RE.
Undoubtedly a release that gave a lot to talk about, but thanks to its low digital price I bought it back. For a RE it's very bad, it threw everything away (the little redeemable of RE 5) and it's a mix of Uncharted (in a bad way) + Call of Duty. As an action game it can work ( and it's not a 10 either), but thanks to its duration and its extras it's not boring.
This is one of my favorite spin-offs of the saga, and although the PS3 version looks good, if you don't have a PS Move, you'd better play the Wii version again, so you can enjoy its gameplay.
Umbrella Chronicles in its digital version of PS3 improves quite a lot the visual part, of course, it is not a remake, but still being a port it looks very good. The downside is that without having a PS Move to enjoy 100% this release the experience with Dual Shock 3 is something awful, you get accustomed, but is far from the original gameplay on Nintendo Wii.
Another work by David Cage, which I couldn't play on his original console (PS3), so being able to try it out on PS4 was ideal. I didn't really have any expectations, I'd already heard that it wasn't the best title and that's how it was. It's not that it's a bad game, but its development, and parts of the story feel loose and without weight in the plot. An interesting premise that in the end is affected by these details. It doesn't leave a bad taste in the end, however it doesn't have the same weight as Heavy Rain did. By the way, the PS4 version is graphically beautiful.
I still love this master piece and replaying it again on PS4 enhanced the experience. Keep in mind that the title originally came out in 2011, so "remastering" does what it can. If you didn't play the original release, now is a good time to do so. One of my favourites.
A cliché story, with an archetypal protagonist and flat characters. This can get a bit boring as it's an important base, in fact this takes point off. However, its big and beautiful world, the concept of the game, the art direction, its mechanics and its good gameplay is what makes this piece stand out. All this is what catches you and takes you hours and hours to play, even the side quests are interesting. This version has the DCL "The Frozen Wilds" that I couldn't try but for sure it's a plus that helps the videogame.
I finally played CODE: Veronica properly. Its plot still one of my favorite in the saga. You must take into account that the original game was for Dreamcast and was graphically inferior to PS2 and NGC, so this "remaster" doesn't look so good, and its weakest point is the price, it's not expensive, but it doesn't have the quality of the RE4 remaster either. I'm sure many people were dissatisfied with this version.
I never played the "original" version of NGC, I only played the Wii version, which always fascinated me. The remastered version of PS4 looks great, however, now I could tell that RE4 has pretty bad control. Another bad point was that the studio didn't bother to remaster Ada Wong's "Separate Ways" campaign cinematics, and they look awful. Whether you're a fan of the saga or if you've never played RE4 (I don't think so) it's a good opportunity to buy it (if you find it at a good price).
At the beginning I was a little reluctant to buy this release (I had already played it on Nintendo GameCube) and I ended up loving this remastered edition. There's no doubt that this update perfected the remake, even though it doesn't look like a current generation game.
As a Star Wars fan there are many things I liked about this title; easter eggs, the story, some characters, etc. However, its campaign is very short, and despite telling a new story (with new and classic characters from the saga) it doesn't have as much weight as I would have liked. It's clear that as a Battlefield, this game wants to focus on the MultiPlayer, which is quite entertaining, limited and with its several connections in comparison with such franchise. I didn't start playing from day one, but I know the box and microtransactions system was hated by gamers, even though it has now been retired. During this couple of years the MP has received free updates, and they seem to be quite good. It's not a perfect gameplay but it has kept me entertained for quite some time.
Despite its graphical section by the downgrade of the console and without being a big fan of soccer, this title has a very fun, intuitive and functional gameplay, taking advantage of the Wiimote + Nunchuck of the Nintendo Wii. His story mode is somewhat bland, but it will keep you busy. The mechanics of alignment, player changes, etc. They are very basic but they help the experience.
Without having previously played the games in its original version on PS2, this is a great collection to try these great titles. You could write more thoroughly about each game, but I'll be brief; both videogames are good for their challenge, their characters and their narrative, they can leave a lot to the interpretation of the gamer, they are very moving and challenging. A great epic experience at the end. His bad points is that Team Ico doesn't know how to perform a correct physics of the characters and their mechanics, and the camera ends up being frustrating and become another enemy. These two weak points almost ruin the gameplay experience.
At first the premise sounds unattractive because of its first-person format, however, in the first few minutes its gameplay captures you completely, it's graphically beautiful thanks to Frostbite. Unfortunately it has a very short duration, the plot is a cliché and its development is flat and boring.
One of my favorite titles. I had never played anything like it, and between its gameplay and its plot, I fell in love with Heavy Rain. It's not a perfect game, but it's definitely an experience I recommend to any gamer who really wants a game to convey and tell him something.
The technical improvements don't feel very significant, but the most important point is that the game changed those "big" maps into a "sandbox" map. Exploring Arkham City is fun, even though it doesn't have the variety you'd like. I didn't get this new format very well at first, but I adapted over time. Its mechanics are almost the same, with slight improvements, although the plot is certainly better than its predecessor. I love challenges maps (combat) and its extra DLCs skins and characteres too.
Batman has always been one of my favourite heroes, however, I don't think I've ever played a title based on him. Arkham Asylum is one of the best experiences of being Batman. A simple but bat-worthy opening story, major villains, a gameplay that mixes combat melee action, stealth, small but explorable maps, and puzzles create a pretty fun mix.
The compendium of the trilogy (the first game hadn't been released for PS3 so it's a chance to get physical), 3 great games that take you on an adventure of approximately 150 hours, a story that connects brilliantly and respects your decisions game after game.
Despite the complaints that its ending has, I feel that this game is more balanced; the mechanics improved a little, the control feels much better, although the story became somewhat confusing, characters with less weight than in its predecessor but the final result leaves a good taste. Maybe the game wasn't so well received because the gamers were expecting another ending, but it doesn't close the trilogy so badly.
Another 50 hours it took me for the second game. The story and gameplay improved, however, there were mechanics that were left behind and I felt "limited" in the progress of my characters. The great thing about Mass Effect 2 is that it respects your decisions from the previous game and that's something I had never experienced before at least.
Even though I didn't play so many RPGs, Mass Effect caught me by its mechanics right from the start. It can get a little tedious sometimes if you want to be as complete as I am. The control isn't perfect and more than once I get frustrated, especially their coverage system, and their story is good, although not very original either. I spent almost 50 hours on this title.
I didn't expect much from this game even though I liked the previous title, and the final result has left me satisfied. The story remains interesting despite the classic clichés. The gameplay is very similar to its predecessor, and you don't feel any improvement but the experience is good after all. I feel that the final result is something solid, an unchanged gameplay and an entertaining story even if it is not risky. Few extras worthwhile.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is certainly a failure. It fails to shine in any of the mechanics it offers, Future Soldier was a better, more enjoyable title. Shooting is not fun like Future Soldier, infiltration feels limited and far from Future Soldier or MGSV: TPP, their world is big and alive, almost as good as a GTA, but their missions are so uninteresting and repetitive that it ends up boring very quickly. Boring and cliché plot. The only reason I played it was because of the customization of the character's outfit.
Sequel / prequel that feels completely unnecessary. It tells very little, his plot is weak, his characters forgettable, his protagonist without charisma. Refreshing the Peace Walker mechanics but at last they are more enjoyable. An empty and boring sandbox (you only have to compare it with Red Dead Redemption). Amen for the short and few cinematic. The only redeemable is the good and polished control, it feels like the final stealth experience and good mechanics for the equip that we customize.
The plot invites you to go on and keep playing to reveal its secrets, however, along with the main premise, everything ends up being a set of clichés, but enjoyable. The gameplay is far from perfect, the mixture of third person shooter and adventure/platforms with the Uncharted formula is fun, although I would have preferred a more polished control. The "exploration" is very limited but I liked it to distract me a bit from the main adventure, interesting maps but in the end it's not a spectacular game, but it left a good taste.
Initially, I was reluctant to this title because although it looked very good, changing the gameplay so different from the base of the saga made me doubt. However, I knew it was a "must play". Surely Santa Monica Studio felt that the gameplay of the franchise was worn, after the bad reception of Asencion sought a change, this is how this great work emerged. A gameplay with pretty polished RPG mechanics; Fun, functional, a small (but beautiful) world to explore, with a simple premise but with a plot that captures, a beautiful audiovisual experience and certainly one of the best titles of the generation. Masterpiece.
A visually beautiful title, with probably more polished control of the saga, however, a story, which was not a bad idea plot, did not end up causing me absolutely nothing. There is no emotion or drama as usual. There are quite epic good moments, but the game feels empty, and it ends up bored a lot, even more than Ghost of Sparta. It is undoubtedly the weakest GoW despite its new gameplay mechanics.
Two good titles of the saga, but despite having ALMOST all the necessary elements to live up to the numbered titles of PS2, they cannot be. This remastered version meets in Chains of Olympus, where the game looks and runs perfect, however in Ghost of Sparta it seems that 100% performance was not optimized and this second title is somewhat lower also in the final result. Even so, as a Spartan fan, this is a collection that you shouldn't miss.
