Demon slaying doesn't get any better then this.

Quite possibly the game of the year – if you liked "Onimusha," then Devil May Cry will definitely possess you.

There are huge staircases, statues and mystical spheres…oh wait, that last thing is not in a typical gothic-style castle. The game is well polished and I never saw a graphic I didn’t like in the whole game.

DMC’s lightning fast gameplay presents an experience that will make you play until your thumbs bleed.

With anti-aliased backgrounds (nerdspeak for smooth and seamless), cool shadows and weapon lighting effects, it puts last year's PS2 games to shame.

Did you know DMC was going to be "Resident Evil 4," before it was spun off into its own series? Oh, you did? Nevermind, then. [Feb 2003, p.92]

It is simply far too difficult...and this level of difficulty seems to exist entirely to keep you from beating it within a few hours. [Nov 2001, p.96]

semplicemente incredibile da inizio a fine, il primo storico devil may cry resta ancora adesso incredibilmente bello tutt'ora senza rifacimenti di sorta. 10/10

There is a good plot twist in the story, although it's nothing extraordinary. The bosses are a little hard to pass in first try, but the baddest one is the camera.

Przyjemniaczek. Combat podobał mi się tutaj bardziej niż w trójce. Historia fajnie dopełnia fabularnie wydarzenia z DMC3. Jedynka stawia na bardziej mroczny i przytłaczający klimat, z poczatku myslalem że tego nie przepale ale im dalej w las tym bardziej oswajałem się z tą wizją narracji. Z minusów wkurwiające minibossy - w pewnym etapie gry w trzech komnatach jedna po drugiej musisz nakurwiać tego samego przerośniętego pająka który gdy jak zajebie ci liścia to lecisz na ścianę na drugi koniec pokoju, albo etap z portalami gdzie prześladuje Cię homunkulus spawnujący glizdy i jak ten skurwol Cię połknie to lejesz się w jego wnętrzu z demonami a jak wyleziesz to buguje ci się postać i zamiast Dantego biegasz zielonym hitboxem xd (przynajmniej w kolekcji HD tak się działo :p )

Awful story, cheesy lines, basic combat, horrible camera angle, too easy to beat aka short, and no replay value. But great graphics for its time **** honest this game by today’s standards is almost unplayable, and I don’t understand why people like it.

I consider DMC3 one of my fav games, but this one is...horrible. No, don't try to justify the horrible camera with the ''it was a RE4 prototype first''. No. Nightmare Creatures 2 and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver have a better camera AND combat system than this thing and those are PS1 games. Just...skip this one.
