Devil May Cry
If a 10-inch thick blade rammed through his heart has no effect on him, why should Sin Scissors' demon weapons affect him?
The gameplay is a tour de force that feeds off of your skills and unleashes hundreds of intense battles. The graphics, while somewhat disturbing, are beautifully designed, becoming transparent when Dante veers behind an object.

(This review is based on the Devil May Cry HD Collection) The first chapter of Capcom's saga is nothing short of revolutionary for the gaming industry of its time. It was one of the very first Hack & Slash titles, and countless other games used it as a blueprint in the years that followed. The game is packed with enemies to face, and the gameplay is truly dense with content, featuring a constant shift between combat and exploration sequences. Furthermore, the level design is breathtaking: every single room and open environment is meticulously crafted. There are, however, several issues: although the core game loop isn't tiring, the gameplay consists exclusively of combat and exploration, with very few narrative sections. Additionally, there are some problems with the sound design; for instance, the audio cues for enemies being hit or killed reset with every single strike/kill, making combat sections almost grating if they drag on too long (absolutely no complaints about the soundtrack, though, which is exceptional). It also falls short a bit in terms of UX, UI, and onboarding, but that is fairly normal considering the era in which the game was released. Overall, it's a good game that undoubtedly made history, but it can feel dated and clunky if played today due to its technical limitations. [74/100]

semplicemente incredibile da inizio a fine, il primo storico devil may cry resta ancora adesso incredibilmente bello tutt'ora senza rifacimenti di sorta. 10/10

There are huge staircases, statues and mystical spheres…oh wait, that last thing is not in a typical gothic-style castle. The game is well polished and I never saw a graphic I didn’t like in the whole game.

DMC’s lightning fast gameplay presents an experience that will make you play until your thumbs bleed.

With anti-aliased backgrounds (nerdspeak for smooth and seamless), cool shadows and weapon lighting effects, it puts last year's PS2 games to shame.

It is simply far too difficult...and this level of difficulty seems to exist entirely to keep you from beating it within a few hours. [Nov 2001, p.96]

Awful story, cheesy lines, basic combat, horrible camera angle, too easy to beat aka short, and no replay value. But great graphics for its time **** honest this game by today’s standards is almost unplayable, and I don’t understand why people like it.

I consider DMC3 one of my fav games, but this one is...horrible. No, don't try to justify the horrible camera with the ''it was a RE4 prototype first''. No. Nightmare Creatures 2 and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver have a better camera AND combat system than this thing and those are PS1 games. Just...skip this one.
