Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is a must have game on the PS4!

It's a bit disappointing that the remake of Tomb Raider could not deliver any new content of value, but the graphics and next-gen effects are eye candy that is more than welcome. This is not enough for the already saved to buy Lara Croft's latest adventure again, but the game is still a shining example of an entertaining action adventure that should be experienced.

One of the best adventure games on console, with a fantastic blend of action and exploration. The Definitive Edition really is definitive, but isn't worth a repeat buy for those who've already experienced Lara's story.

It’s the same brilliant game that came out last year, all polished up and looking its finest. For returning adventurers, on the other hand, there’s so little in the way of new content that there’s not much point buying the new version unless you had an urge to replay it anyway.

Its thin characters and unconvincing narrative aside, the game maintains a sense of inertia, pounding action, and a balance between solid gunplay, distracting puzzles, and satisfying environmental traversal.

While all of these positives remain a huge plus, though, Tomb Raider still has plenty of flaws, the story being its biggest misstep. Incredibly obvious and packed full of cliches, you can't help but cringe at some of the dialogue as people speak to each other as if they were reciting a GCSE play. The Last of Us would laugh Tomb Raider out of the playground.

Tomb Raider is a terrific game, and the Definitive Edition is a gorgeous looking version of it. It's the same game it was in 2013, though, with no further improvements justifying its "definitive" status.

Minha estreia em Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition foi no Switch 2 e a experiência foi fantástica. A história, os personagens e a jogabilidade me conquistaram. Já estou na torcida para que as sequências da franquia também cheguem ao console da Nintendo.

It's a pretty good action-adventure game with good gunplay and traversal. The story was good enough for Laras origin, though it did get a little predictable at times. Some of the puzzles though felt like a chore to get throw and were more tedious then difficult in any interesting way. You can also tell the age of the game via its graphics, it didn't age the greatest. Still, this doesn't detract from the overall quality and general fun factor of this game.

Visualmente, o jogo é bastante agradável e, considerando seu lançamento em 2014, apresenta um nível de excelência sólido em termos de imersão. A ambientação e o cuidado estético contribuem para uma experiência envolvente. A jogabilidade se mantém competente, oferecendo uma base consistente que funciona bem dentro da proposta do jogo, sem grandes falhas. Apesar de suas intenções serem claras e bem definidas, a trama não acompanha o mesmo nível de qualidade. Falta impacto e profundidade em comparação com os outros aspectos, o que acaba limitando o envolvimento narrativo. No geral, é um bom jogo, com qualidades evidentes, mas que não se destaca tanto quando o foco está na história.

Dropped this game 3 times and came back to it, every single time I came back I never enjoyed it, just too boring and feels too gimicky.

Three quarters into the game, three questions come to mind. Will one ever be able to re-sell a digital copy? How does an anemic, lobotomized Uncharted clone earn 85 on Metacritic? And where did the actual tombs and raiding go? One will never know. What stays for sure is poor writing, bland characters, clunky controls, dull levels and unremarkable gunplay. All the frosting can't quite obscure a dud.
