The phenomenal movement of web-swinging and the immersion within a bustling New York City as Spider-Man himself make for a great time and a game that is a joy to jump into. The story is surprisingly deep and emotional at times with some strong pacing and fantastic cinematics. Unfortunately, this experience is not without its flaws; the city makes for a gorgeous yet hollow video game setting with poor collectibles, combat is often chaotic and repetitive, and there is a slew of miserable stealth encounters throughout. Insomniac still delivers a fun and technically impressive title that is sure to delight any fans of the web-slinger.

This game reminded me of the Spidey opus on Game Cube back then. Amazing feeling in the gameplay and we can also find Sunset Overdrive inspirations here. Overall, the gameplay is rather classic (open worlds elements especially) but with so little flaws. The combat system is heavily inspired by the Batman Arkham saga but at least it is a good inspiration, though the camera does not help you at times. Graphics are nice, the artistic direction is close to what Spidey's lore is and at the same time it brings some elements of its own and that's a great job. The best point for me : the staging is so amazing, and combined with the story it could have made a really good Spidey movie. About the DLCs : grabbing this one on sales at 19.99 €, the DLCs are acceptable though at really standard level. What bothers me is that they bring nothing that could not have been included in the (relatively short for the genre) main game. They are dispensable, and not to be bought at full price.
