Even with my complaints about the bouncy camera, I believe this follow-up is a significantly better experience than the original Umbrella Chronicles and one fun ride from start to finish.
The Darkside Chronicles is a nice improvement over the previous game, adding length and depth to a solid on-rails shooting experience. Story and characters are really outdated though, and aiming through the Remote is a real pain at times.
For fans of twitch-gaming this surely ranks up there with the best that this anachronistic sub-genre has to offer.

while this game provides some interesting story about Leon, the re-telling of previous chapters doesn't bring justice to the series at all. Also the on-rails-shooting system is just horrendous and doesn't belong within this series

Resident Evil: The Darkside ChroniclesA Clash of Two WorldsThis title gambles with the reputation and sense of fear the series is known for — a gamble that might connect with the audience, but could just as easily make them overlook the franchise’s remarkable legacy and judge the entire series based on this one entry, potentially damaging its heritage. From the Heights to the GroundResident Evil can be summed up in one word: Fear. Endless fear, thanks to its atmosphere, impactful music, tough situations, and relentless enemies. Unfortunately, The Darkside Chronicles fails to capture any of these elements, and at worst, conveys the exact opposite. Resident Evil is supposed to instill such fear that the player hesitates to go on — a sign that the game has done its job well. But was fear even the main goal of The Darkside Chronicles?A Big RiskDoes the shoot ‘em up genre have a place in the Resident Evil universe? That depends on the player’s taste, but it’s clear that the series became famous for its intense horror and tension. Statistically speaking, most fans of the series will likely be dissatisfied with this style. Was this risk a mistake? Maybe yes, maybe no. If you play this game with nostalgia for the past, you’ll almost certainly be disappointed. But if this is your first Resident Evil experience, you might actually enjoy it.Gameplay — A Major ShiftThe most significant change is the shift to a shoot ‘em up style. You control the main character only for aiming and shooting — the game itself handles movement. You can use healing items, and at the end of each stage, there’s a weapon upgrade system. By scoring headshots and shooting objects to collect coins, you can upgrade your weapons for the next stages. This adds both challenge (as failing to upgrade makes later stages harder) and some drawbacks, such as the need to carefully manage upgrades due to the high variety of weapons. While the game provides plenty of ammo and resources, the upgrade system could have been **** sometimes get to choose between multiple paths, which could have been exciting, but here it’s so limited that it doesn’t add much. Another drawback is the first-person camera, which moves so much that it can cause dizziness — and all the while, you’re supposed to shoot enemies, making it a real problem. On the positive side, you can choose your character at the start of each stage. There’s also a secondary character during gameplay, but they’re so underutilized that you may barely notice them. Improving their AI and cooperation could have created a dynamic like Resident Evil 5(which had its flaws, but still did this **** Same Old Story — With AdditionsThe story covers events from Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica, retold from a first-person perspective with a different genre twist. The game expands on these stories and also adds its own — not much, but enough to be acceptable. You could consider it a kind of remake of RE2 and Code Veronica, one that could have been better but still works on some level. There’s nothing particularly bad to say about the story, as it follows a straightforward plot. The “Operation Javier” section includes a plot twist, but overall, the narrative isn’t deep. One notable character introduced is Krauser, shown here as Leon’s partner during Operation Javier.GraphicsOne important point is that the game was ported to the Wii, which had hardware limitations. Did that hurt the visual experience? Not really. Despite the constraints, the graphics are decent enough for the platform, though of course not on par with seventh-generation consoles. But a good game isn’t judged on graphics alone.AtmosphereOne of the game’s biggest flaws is its lack of fear and oppressive atmosphere. With better environmental design and a stronger soundtrack, it could have been far scarier. While it borrows environments from the original titles, it doesn’t deliver the same level of fear — the shoot ‘em up style simply isn’t well-suited to horror The original story environments aren’t impressive either, though the level design does shine at times — especially in the final stages of Operation Javier, where you face tough enemies and a memorable boss fight. Still, the atmosphere overall isn’t strong enough to leave a lasting impression, making this a one-time experience with little replay value.Level DesignSince this is a shoot ‘em up, you shouldn’t expect high difficulty. That’s exactly the case here — at the very start, you even get a gun with unlimited ammo, making things much easier. Still, the enemy designs and level layouts are decent, and despite the simplicity, the game offers a fun and action-filled experience.Final WordsEven if you’re a die-hard Resident Evil fan who takes issue with this title, I’d still recommend giving it a chance. With fresh story details and a new gameplay style, it can immerse you in a side of the Resident Evil universe you haven’t experienced before.

"The Darkside Chronicles" is bigger and better "The Umbrella Chronicles". Everything from the storytelling to the voice acting to the soundtrack was improved. Also, the difficulty was lowered, the graphics were enhanced and the weapons can now be upgraded. In addition, the environments are larger and have more diversity. Visually, the game has more of a cinematic presentation with its "shaky" cam. Overall, this is a slick on-rails shooter that is a must-play for RE fans. I would rate it with an 8 out of 10.

In essence, what the game may lack in exposition or narrative complexity it makes up for in nostalgic capital, a refined weapons system and a classic Resident Evil feel

It's definitely worth checking out even if you were disappointed with Umbrella Chronicles, as I think the improvements made here actually work.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is an entertaining on rails-shooter that will wind Biohazard fans in a vortex of fun and nostalgia. If you live for Resident Evil just go for it, but if you're searching for the best exponent of the genre, Dead Space: Extraction is always the best in its genre.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles acts as a fantastic primer for those who started with the more action-centric Resident Evil iterations, while simultaneously providing fan service and fun for dedicated followers. Novices and veterans alike would be doing themselves a disservice by passing up this game.

As expected, the originals are better and more authentic Resident Evil experiences, and you'll get more enjoyment-- though not multiplayer-- out of them. Darkside Chronicles, on the other hand, is best for someone who absolutely loves light-gun games and has a buddy along for the ride.

Sure, it lacks the depth of something like Dead Space: Extraction, but if you're just looking to blast zombies with old friends, it's hard to do much better... on the Wii.

"Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles" enters a crowded genre on the Wii, a genre that has been done much better then what is presented here. Nice visuals and a stunning soundtrack can't save the huge design flaws present throughout the title, flaws that only serve to impair the gameplay and frustrate the player.

The game's plot is slightly different than original game's plot, but it does keep the same story and characters and I really like that. Graphics for the WII console are great! Easy to control, shoot and aim. Amazing game.

The Umbrella Chronicles summarizes in its levels Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica and offers a prequel to Resident Evil 4. His story is worthy of a fair approval. Little addition of zero and some very changed stories. The gameplay is the classic action game "on rails", very simple but functional. A bit demanding even for veteran players.
