Season 1 is well acted and casted, but I was not I engaged in the plot or the characters. I forced myself to watch season 1 and 2, it took me a couple of years to finally watch past the first episode, I often stopped past the 20mn mark, to try to watch it again a few months later. I felt it was tedious and at times, the situations depicted were far fetched. Watching characters being **** to each others isn’t what I enjoy in storytelling.

What's really special about this show is something I wish wasn't. Namely that it feels like an earlier decades HBO show or dramedy, before as the rest of show producers, they poisoned new shows. Modern woke poison makes many shows now boring , unfunny , and unrelatable . Over the three seasons of the White Lotus I really had that 90s/ 00s vibe at times of snappy writing , honest people , nasty characters fairly evenly spread around. The show is an excellent mix of thriller like elements and very funny characters like Armond and the rich lady that finds her destiny in Italy eventually. HBO used to be a big name for a reason, I find myself rewatching many of their older shows . What titles like Deadwood , Carnevale, True Detective 1/2 , even something like Six Feet Under had in common, that if there were liberal elements or views , they were counter weighted by others opinions and views on this world. Real people, rude people , harsh worlds. Let's hope woke is gone again one day, and we get something back like White Lotus meeting Twin Peaks.

One of these wealth critiques that you could say ultimately still glorifies wealth. But so well executed that it holds up from an objective quality point of view. Probably best described as a character study, given the colourful cast in each season. Whilst there are recurring character archetypes (a dorky teen son character in all three seasons) most of the characters are so memorably unique, both for their virtues and for their shortcomings, that I can instantly picture the group dynamics and individual quirks that Mike White has so skillfully written. I have probably never empathised with a cast of characters so deeply. Don’t know if I’ll revisit or keep it as a memory, but god am I so excited for the next season(s)

This series is for cynical people who think that the suffering of others is fun to watch and ridicule. It's also packed with as much shock value and filth that the creators believed they could get away with, because its storytelling is otherwise threadbare. It has two redeeming qualities - the delivery of Jennifer Coolidge and the story arc of a young man who learns how to let go of his tech addiction - but these could have filled 30 minutes, and the rest is unworthwhile.

Almost all of the characters are some form of annoying or hate-able, but the dark sense of humor and the opulence of the setting make the show thrilling television.

A series which is a sign of our times. Never have I encountered a show that despises it’s characters and life really as much as this. Plot holes galore and logic constantly defied by its determination to prove a point make this the Seven of TV shows in as much as it leaves one with a an urgent primal scream: „I want my money back.“ A sadistic work.

First 2 seasons were stellar, but season 3 was a colossal disaster, causing the average score to drop.

This show is so dern good. All three seasons have been so well-acted, and so beautiful to look at. No show does a better job at building tension. From the first episode to the last, I sit with a genuinely tight stomach in anticipation of the climax.

The White Lotus proves that great TV is not dead. I am a super harsh critic who is a big fan of HBO original series such as The Wire, The Sopranos, and Deadwood. There was a time when almost everything HBO put out was pure gold; that time feels like a century ago. Then there is the White Lotus, a show that came out of seemingly nowhere and brings that old magic back to life. The characters are complex and multifaceted; the scenarios are realistic, allegorical, and relatable. The music is enchanting and effective, conveying emotions, and the pacing is slow but culminates in a crescendo that hits the mark with utmost precision and grace. Each season is unique in its own way and compelling; it's one of the few shows where I struggle to pick a favorite season because they are all great in their own distinct way. Overall, I can't recommend this show enough to people who appreciate good storytelling.

C’est une sorte de vague, très vague satire (ratée) des bobos décadents, les bobos en PLS en raison de leurs **** soucis et petites névroses, les **** atermoiements de **** (ou gros) bourgeois qui se regardent un peu trop le nombril, pètent plus haut que leur cul, parlent à leur dépression, leur surmoi et tous sortes de ‘problèmes’ qui tiennent du « psy », voire du psychiatrique… Un peu comme « La Croisière s’amuse » d’ailleurs mais ici en version putassière et complaisante, volontiers vulgaire et déplacée, histoire de choquer ici et là les gens qui peuvent l’être, histoire de rameuter et de faire du bruit, de faire le « buzz » comme on dit de nos jours… Quoi qu’il en soit, ça se traîne comme un hamster mort d’insolation sur la plage, c’est d’une lenteur et d’une fadeur malgré toute la vulgarité, le voyeurisme déversé et ce n’est pas drôle, même pas une seconde ! on soupire d’ennui et on lève les yeux au ciel régulièrement en se demandant qu’est-ce qu’on a fait pour mériter ça… (à savoir une sale série de merde démoulée par des torche-culs prétentieux !). Non, le seul point éventuellement positif serait Sydney Sweeney, la bonnasse blonde toujours en pleines formes mais qui ne montre même pas ses nichons ! alors HBO, on se déballonne ou quoi ? ah par contre, on voit autre chose (non, c’est pas elle…) et c’est lamentable et consternant, comme l’ensemble de cette putain de série de merde définitivement à chier !

Season 1: Hawaii provided a vivid backdrop and a smart take on privilege. The plot twisted cleverly, and the actors shone brightly. It left me thoughtful, even with its subtle complexity. Season 2: Sicily delivered a fresh setting and a bold focus on desire. The writing cut deep, and the cast excelled effortlessly. It built on the first season while keeping me hooked. Season 3: Thailand offers a lush stage and a welcome slower pace—I enjoy the gradual build. With two seasons of proven sharp writing, it doesn’t need to rush. Halfway in, I’m intrigued and optimistic for what’s ahead.

This show has a quality as natural as it is surprising in the dialogues. The casting in every season is absurdly good and in this 3rd it was no different. The photography is a chef’s kiss!

This is for season 3. I would give season 2 a 10 also. But for this season, the writing is even better (than a 10), all the actors are excellent and execite their jobs perfectly. They are the characters. But the essence of the brilliance is the layers in the writing. Exploring personalities and spirutuality while maintaining a high tension drama. White deserves to be put in the top elite class of writer directors. It is an exceptional job of how to show depth rather than relying on telling. It could be used in a spiritual study course to represent all sorts of inner dynamics. 10+

The only current show that I do not fall asleep to.I tried Severance and I like the idea, but I always fall asleep.

One of my favorite shows ever. I went into it with no expectations whatsoever and came out the other side massively surprised. Well f*cking done.

"The White Lotus" (S02, 7 eps, 1-hr, MAX) I surprised myself by really liking the show's first season so I was definitely amped for the second season and it did not disappoint! This is one of the few series that maintains its entertainment level across seasons, and thanks largely to the involvement of the show's creator/writer/showrunner, Mike White. This second season moves the action to the White Lotus' Sicily location which really showcases the setting. Some of our principal characters/actors return for this outing. I was happy to see Theo James as a new principal here since I just recently finished "The Gentlemen" series (Netflix) where he starred as a British Duke. Jennifer Coolidge returns with her "Tanya" character which grates on me but by the finale has a satisfying ending. Mike does a really good job of weaving tough relationship issues into the various characters, too, which is why it's so important to have such a large cast of principals. He also deftly weaves in DEI themes without making it so obvious that it triggers the audience, much of it is subtle and tastefully done, so kudos for his light touch in so many areas. Season 3 is filming in Thailand and Mike notes: "It's going to be a supersized White Lotus. It's going to be longer, bigger, crazier!" Stoked.

This series kept me riveted. It is suspenseful, quirky, and funny. It delves into the characters in a fascinating way.

It’s well acted and put together, but I didn’t find it interesting in the slightest. I didn’t like the characters or the plots. Quite dull.

This is just a fantastic show, from the photography, scenery, character development, music, script. I have not been captivated like that for a long time. The complexity of the characters and layers to the story are just fantastically layered. It's not for kids, so I don't expect anyone without life experience to enjoy it.

One of the best serie I watched. Well written, well directed, well played, well edited. Have fun with The Pineapple Suite.

Wow is this show boring. I actually can't believe just how bland it is. Plot twists you see coming from miles away and characters that are both unlikeable and unrelatable. The camera work is pretty good, but each wasted hour of an episode is an absolute chore to get through. The only people I can see enjoying this are those who've never experienced any kind of challenge in life since these frail characters seem to make mountains out of molehills. I understand if this is the point, as a "satire" but it's just not an enjoyable ride. Also, to the show runners at HBO, we get it. You like man butts. Maybe cut the shots down to one or two an episode and it'll be more palatable for everyone else.

Is there such thing as "love at first sight?" No. I think there's lust at first sight. Love is blind but I think it has to be because lust is blinding. From the haunted opening credits song to the ominous Italian busts and paintings watching over this new cast of characters, it's fascinating how this show can feel so unrelatable yet relatable at the same time. On one hand, I'm not a part of the upper middle-class taking vacation at these resorts in exotic locales, on the other hand, the show deals with issues we all struggle with. While season one mostly focused on finding one's self and self worth at our current state in life, season two deals with our place in our relationships, whether with our significant other, family or friends. Less cringe-worthy than the first, this season isn't without it's uncomfortable moments. Still, an amazing watch and I definitely recommend.

This has to be my favorite show I watched last year! The cast is excellent! The writing is phenomenal! The vistas are gorgeous! Jennifer Coolidge is a vibe!

Show is beautifully shot and the score is incredible. Thematically great, structure is great. Only reason I can’t rate higher is sometimes it seems nihilistic and morbid for its own sake, almost too on the nose.

Personally, I found the characters in Season 1 more compelling. But even season 2 lives up the the previous season. It's hard to explain what White Lotus is. It's a bit of character drama, rich-people mockery, travel-catalogue and heartfelt storytelling without being too cynical. I can see why people like it, but I also want to emphasise what kind of show this is. It's not a classic comedy or proper ****'s something in between. And quite compelling at that.

Loving season 2, the characters are interesting and Mike White is as brilliant as always. Theo James and Will Sharpe are the standouts so far. Can't wait to see where it all goes!

This show is like the best thing that happened in **** deserves all the awards for great acting, sound and excellent story telling.

Very interesting show! I just wish they gave the middle-aged ash-carrying lady less screen time as she was annoying tbh.

This show had such great tension, I was nervous for every character in most scenes. I'm not sure about the ending, it's up for debate, but overall very enjoyable.

This was an interesting show. While I liked some of the story lines, most of them went nowhere and didn't make much sense. The concierge was great and was the highlight of the show. Saying that, there were some truly horrible people in this show but the one I just hated was Jennifer Coolidge. I find her presence to be very offputting as she is remarkedly unattractive. Every time she appeared on screen it was like a horror movie jump scare. (I don't understand why she keeps getting cast in movies). This show left a lot of loose ends which was frustrating as well. E.g. One of the hotel staff has a baby in episode 1 which she tries to keep secret. Never see or hear from her again after that even though it was one of the main themes from the episode.

This is an amazing show. The performances are outstanding. The overall narrative and script is sharp and doesn't waste a single word. It's refreshing to see a show that clearly knows what its doing and saying. ENJOY IT

I rate this show an 8. It's highly entertaining with quality acting from all involved. Even though it's an 8 for me I gave a 10 as some people give 0's and 1's. That is just ridiculous as there is no way this could be a 0 or a 1. Can't people just score things fairly? 0? awwcumon.

This show is fun, and funny! Did not know what to expect going in, but couldn't stop watching once we started. To the wealthy, people like the wait staff and the working class are disposable... sacrificing not just their dignity, but their life. So twisted. So dark. So crazy. So much better than Nine Perfect Strangers, too.

A writer friend recommended this to me...Wasn't sure after the first episode, but it really takes flight and goes amazing places. First rate in every respect. Amazing performances all around. My favorite show of the year, hands down.

It feels like the script was written by 6 year old. It does seem that there is a potential to have some laughs, but eventually are none. The life of these characters is made into something trivial. Are people's lifes really that simplistic. And those elements - drugs, mother's ashes, gay sex, failed marriages - where have I seen these before - for thousand times... This show proves at least one thing - the writers have lost any touch of reality and the sense of humor - all writers in America!

Haven't done much user reviewing lately. Guess I haven't seen anything recently that's moved me much. White Lotus scratched an itch I didn't realize I had. Moody and intense, this stand-alone season (the next season will presumably have a new batch of actors) has a lot going on without overburdening the viewer. A lot of it is dark and cynical, but nails tropes like classism, angst, indulgence and loneliness. In fact although there are a lot of groups here, almost every individual member of each group seems like a lonely island unto themself. I suppose it could be called a comedy, but if so, it's very, very, very dark. It reflects reality so well that I personally find it next to impossible to call it a comedy. The direction is masterful, the acting is divine, and the plot ... well, there are several, and all are compelling. It's almost like a Downton Abbey for the modern age - the rich and those who cater to their every whim, seen through a woke but twisted lens. All that and a mystery, to boot. Who is in the coffin being loaded into the airplane at the beginning (actually the ending) of the series? Weave your way through these convoluted stories to find out.

Great series! Love Mike White and this is his world. I love how there are few heroes here, just as there are no real villains (except Paula. She's the devil). These are fully formed characters, and this informs their actions and motivations throughout. Maybe what they do isn't forgivable in every case, but it's understandable. I did find Paula to be completely insufferable. Both of the young women to be honest, but her more so. She had absolutely no redeeming qualities. So much so she actually humanized Olivia and her mother. Quinn was the hero, if there was one. He's the only one who really saw Hawaii. He's also the only one with any true courage.

This show is meant to watch while doing some other primary activity like browsing Instagram stories or whipping up a nice hollandaise sauce. This show is really slow, but reliably builds tension every episode. The difference between say this, and the Leftovers, is that I don't really care about any of the characters or what happens to them. There's no compassion building, and unlike other shows about almost nothing like Seinfeld, this show isn't funny and its script is derivative and boring. All of the characters are incredibly unlikeable, but the writers lack the skill to build connection with characters who are truly awful people like Breaking Bad's writers did. It's fairly obvious why reviewers like the New Yorker gave this great reviews: it's a great show for people who consider themselves smart to blow smoke up their own butts about how smart they are for grasping this show's subtlety. This show is TV's meta jump-the-shark moment. It's a clear reminder that the golden age of TV is behind us. It is content. It is built as a distraction from the mediocre lives that late-stage capitalism has provided for many of us. All of the characters are neoliberal archetypes that don't actually exist. This is really the first show I can say was probably produced solely to keep people in front of their TVs and out of the city hall and streets.
