The Odyssey8
Jul 23, 2026
This movie is incredibly loud! It also has some strange design choices. The (Trojan) armor design is weird. Having so many big Hollywood faces in a movie can also be distracting. The colloquial American dialogue is also a choice. After all that is said and done though, this is still an epic movie that is both visually distinct and impressive. Due to the historic nature of the Odyssey, the story doesn't follow a rewarding narrative with a 3 Act structure. Nevertheless, I never felt bored during the 3 hour run-time (although the final does drag a little). If you watch it in cinema, bring earplugs. This movie is 15% louder than it should be.

Disclosure Day5

Certainly one of the movies of all time.... But seriously, who signed off on this script? It's a 2 hour, completely pointless chase-movie where everything is preordained anyway. And then it leaves you emotional unsatisfied and bored.
WTF happened? Has Spielberg lost his touch?

Marty Supreme8

A very unique story to tell that feels biographical, despite being completely made up. It's well paced, occasionally funny and Timothy is great. The story could have been a little shorter, but it's never boring.

Project Hail Mary8
Mar 20, 2026
Leans more into comedy than epic sci-fi adventure, which surprised me at first. So to whoever is expecting Interstellar, will be disappointed. But taken for what it is, it's very good.

This movie is solid. It has a handful of LOL moments if you lcan augh at excessive voilence. Nothing mind-bending. But solid.

Solid movie but lighter than expected on the tank combat and an unfitting ending imo.

What was the point of this movie if they're retelling almost exactly the same plot? I don't understand how we ended uphere? WoW was already recycling a lot of plot, but at least introduced enough new stuff to feel interesting.
But this movie? What was the point, besides looking great?

One Battle After Another8

Incredibly entertaining movie with a topical theme. The editing is top notch, keeping you glued to the screen at almost every moment. What's lacking is real character development and emotional arcs.

Yeah, this is a strange movie. It's cute and all, but the themes and messages are so incoherent the movie never really comes together. I know it went through rewrites etc. and it's easy to tell. But yeah, this doesn't work.

The Naked Gun7
Aug 10, 2025
It's been a long time since I've seen a straight up comedy in cinemas. And this was fun. Yeah, the gag density doesn't quite match the originial but that's a tall order.
It's a good time and a solid recommendation.

F1: The Movie7
Jul 14, 2025
I really enjoyed this, even if it is a little too self-indulgent. A little deeper characterization might have helped, but the racing scenes were very well shot.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning7
Jul 14, 2025
Another solid movie, but the forrmula is feeling a little tired now. While the action is great, the movie spends too much time of pointless setup and McGuffin magic. I don't think making "AI" the enemy was really a good choice and too much of the technology shown is just nonsense. So while it is entertaining, it's also unnecessary and doesn't give us much of anything we haven't seen in a more compact form already.

Snow White6

At this point, it just feels incredibly boring and formulaic. They could have done anything they wanted, but opted for the most generic modern take you can imagine.

The Alto Knights5
Mar 30, 2025
An interesting premise, poorly told and terribly written. How come writers have become incapable to adapting a compelling narrative into a compellingcinematic story? The Dialogue is also terrible, frequently repeating itself without ever explaining anything.
Feb 28, 2025
The Gorge6
Feb 28, 2025
Competent but generic movie. The premise isn't nearly as interesting as first suggested. And the "soft studio lighting" is very obvious, making it easy to tell how little of it was actually shot outside.

The Fifth Element9

A type of Sci-Fi with so much heart and passion, only the optimistic 90s could give it to us.

Captain America: Brave New World5
Feb 14, 2025
Not terrible, nut not worth anyone's time or money.
The story is inconsequential, the reshoots obvious and so is that the MCU has no direction.

The Mask of Zorro9

Peak 90s action, charme and cheese. They literally don't makethem like they used to.

A "modern" classic. Great by any reasonable standard that will resonate for decades.
Nov 22, 2024
Gladiator II5
Nov 22, 2024
The thing Gladiator 2 does best is remind us how much better Gladiator 1 is. What's most baffling about this sequel is how poorly edited the story is. There is barely any setup for any of the plot points and developments. Stuff just happens....because. The movie isn't outright terrible. But with such a badly told story, it's hard to get invested.

The Substance7
Oct 19, 2024
A lot can be said about this film. But I'll just say it certainly wasn't boring.
It's incredibly intense and slightly disturbing.
But I didn't feel like the ending really worked as well as I had hoped.
Aug 26, 2024
Twisters7
Aug 26, 2024
A solid, competent movie. There really isn't much to criticize. Twisters is a solidly executed and competently told disaster movie story.
It doesn't truly excel though, as it doesn't have enough likeable characters, relevant stakes or thrilling action. I feel the original did it better. Still, you will enjoy your time watching this movie.

Alien: Romulus7
Aug 18, 2024
Decent, but iterative encounter with the Xenomorph. It offers a few new scenarios and characters, but it's largely still about the Xenomorph chasing the group on youngsters through a space station. Unortunately, none of it really stands out, until the (gross) third act. And that's not really a compliment. I do think there was potential for the movie to go a little further, expanding the universe and/or overarching plot. Anyway, it has a few good moments and if you'll enjoy this is you haven't already seen all of the other movies.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare5
Aug 10, 2024
The ingredients sound promissing: Guy Richie, Henry Cavil, Secret Operation in WW2 etc.
But the execution is just weak. The tone tries to be light-hearted and humorful, but it's just not funny. The characters aren't characterized and the voilence isn't as entertaining as it thinks it is. At no time is there any sense of danger. In fact, most of the action the protagonists are just casually walking around, gunning down Kriegsmarine Soldiers in dress uniform. It's just meh. It really is a failure of craft, as the ingredients are all there.

A Quiet Place: Day One5
Aug 1, 2024
Technically a decent movie but it just doesn't have much to offer viewers. It employs cheap jump scares, we're already familar with the monsters and their weaknesses and the characters aren't hugely compelling either. Instead, you get a series of the same "don't make a sound" set pieces that really don't offer anything new. Don't feel bad about skipping this one.

Deadpool & Wolverine6
Jul 29, 2024
Obviously the movie is fun, has a lot of quips, references and self-awareness. But even a superfical, quippy buddy-movie needs a decent story. And this is where it falls flat. A big reason is that the whole multi-verse plot really undermines any compelling narrative. If anything can happen, anywhere, at all times.....then nothing matters. This is less a flaw of this movie, but more a flaw in the MCU. However, given how intertwined these movies are, it's a big reason as to why it falls a bit flat.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes6
Jul 22, 2024
Beautiful but shallow next step on the Planet of the Apes series. While it has an intriguing world-building and build up, I doesn't really deliver in its 3rd act. The human girl isn't a very compelling character and outside of Raka, the rest don't leave much of impression either. Instead, it all feels like something we've already seen, just in a slightly different setting.

Inside Out8
Jul 8, 2024
Very heartfelt movie about growing up and dealing with your emotions. While not quite as memorable as the first, it's still a good time and good movie. And while it won't take you to the moon, it might throw you into an sarchasm.

Independence Day9
Jul 8, 2024
One of the most 90s movie ever. In all of the best ways. It's cheesy, it's patriotic, it uses clichees, it's self-serious.

The Fall Guy5
Jun 21, 2024
Well-meaning but a bit borging. It sounds a bit weird, because he movie is well made. But the script is just all over the place and doesn't come together. And the movie just overstays its welcome. This should have been a 100 minute movie. But with over 2 hours, it stretches itself too thin. Metalstorm would have been a better time.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga6
May 28, 2024
I have a soft-spot for the Mad Max films, given how unique they are.
But Furiosa just isn't great. Don't get me wrong. It's a competent film.
The action is decent. And I give credit for doing actual world-building. You get more sense of the actual "Wasteland". But unfortunately the movie is just too long. All acts are overindulgent, being 30% longer than they should be. It stretches the film to an exhausting length. The action also doesn't match the grit and tenacity of Mad Max. You can clearly see the blue-screen / volume in 50% of shots. The plot is too bloated and the narrative equally uncompelling. It streches over too long a time period and fails to create actual tension. A tigher script and a more focused narrative would have made an overall better movie. Bummer.

Civil War8
Apr 19, 2024
Wow, what an intense film.
It's loud, it's krass, it's immersive.
But it's not for the faint of heart.
This isn't the type of movie you leave in a cheerful mood. Instead you'll find yourself staring at the credits for 5 minutes, trying to digest what you just watched.

Dune: Part Two8
Mar 4, 2024
Consistent continuation of Part 1, with better pacing, more humour and a tighter narrative. However, it doesn't offer nearly as much world-building as part one and even the climax felt a little underwhelming. Still a strong recommendation, especially if you like part 1.

Wonka7

Charming, but a bit superfiscial and not as touching as I had hoped. Despite the beatiful sets, the songs and story fail to make a lasting impression.

Vice6
Dec 17, 2023
While entertaining, it doesn't really shine a light on what motivated Dick Cheney's actions. Why was he (or Bush) so keen to attack Iraq? What motivated his drive to power? Unfortunately the movie fails to explore any of these questions in any depth an instead focuses on a superficial series of events that lead nowhere. Just like the wars...
Nov 28, 2023
Napoleon6
Nov 28, 2023
Interesting, but ultimately unsatisying "highlight-reel" of Napoleon's life. Despite the runtime, the movies never quite manages to tell a proper story. It has little to say about Napoleon as a person, what motivated him and what he thought, it's unsatisfying for "history buffs" because of it's lose interpretation of historical facts and the battles are just "fine", without really excelling. It's a bummer that Ridley scott has only managed to produce another "mid" film, despite many good aspects.
Oct 10, 2023
Ambulance5
Oct 10, 2023
Decent setup and well-acted but ruined by the horrible editing and needless shaky-cam. The movie is also overly long and bloated with too many characters and plot-lines. This should have been a sexy 100 minute movie but is instead bloated to 130 minutes.
Oct 6, 2023
The Creator7
Oct 6, 2023
Stylistic movie embedded in an interesting premise and setting, that is a bit lacking when it comes to story, character and plot. Despite never dragging and being visually interesting, it doesn't quite "come together" as you'd expect from a well-executed script.
Aug 5, 2023
Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant5
Aug 5, 2023
Well-acted and shot, but the "streaming" look & lighting really ruin the immersion. Unfortunately you can tell this was almost entirely shot inside a movie set.
Jul 22, 2023
Barbie6
Jul 22, 2023
Well-acted and entertaining take on the Barbie franchise. Unfortunately the message and story is messy and some of the messaging can feel hamfisted, only to get lost throughout the incongruent plot. The best part of the film is Ken, specifically Ryan Gosling.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One7
Jul 16, 2023
Extremely well-paced and relentless action movie with a very opaque (and honestly, poor) villian & plot. I'm also disappointed by what they did with Ilsa Faust.
Jul 10, 2023
Extraction 26
Jul 10, 2023
A simple plot and well-shot action are ruined by the glossy and unrealistic "Netflix" style of soft lighting and obviously studio settings with CGI backgrounds. It's a shame because there's some real action craftsman ship at work here. But without real settings, it never really shines.
Jul 6, 2023
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny5
Jul 6, 2023
Outside of the intro sequence and the finale, I was bored throughout most of the film. It really fails in almost all "movie 101" categories. I.e. unfocused action, unlikeable characters and arbitrary plot.
May 5, 2023
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 36
May 5, 2023
I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed. While the basic ingredients still work, the character dynamics seem a bit stale, the jokes a bit repetitive, the story very familiar and the script too messy and long to really be "good". The first one was clearly lightning in a bottle as it's by far the best of the trilogy. And if you expect the same, you'll be just as disappointed.
