The show is wholesome and fun, and given that none of its four episodes passes the 15-minute mark, it’s perfect for a one-hour binge or for doling out over a few days. Half of the enjoyment comes from the story itself, and the other half comes from its stop-motion animation style.

It’s a beautifully animated, breezy watch starring a mix of Pokémon and the humans that love them. .... The show’s high level of craftsmanship makes every small detail worth poring over in awe.

If I have one criticism to lob at Netflix’s Pokémon Concierge, it’s that the first season is too damn short. Just as Haru acclimates to her new role, the first season is over! There’s literally only four episodes of Pokémon Concierge and they all clock in at about 15 minutes in length. On the one hand, that makes the series a powerfully potent cocktail of sweetness. On the other, it leaves you desperate for more.

Given the quality of the production, being left wanting more isn’t the worst thing in the world, but with a show that’s already so light and fluffy, I wonder if the brevity might end up hurting its staying power.

Its narrative might be aimed at its youngest audience members, but that doesn't stop this series from being enjoyed by all ages. Outside of video games, Pokémon Concierge is this franchise's most interesting innovation in years.

Its plot-light premise and gorgeous stop-motion animation do the trick, creating a feel-good story that serves to unload difficult emotions and elevate the spirit.
