While the sci-fi setting adds an extra level of tactics, for racing fans the promise of deep customisation and Burnout-inspired handling is more than enough appeal on its own. But for Star Wars fans, such as myself, there’s extra levels of intrigue. ‘If you love Star Wars, you love spectacle and discovery and adventure,’ says Derrick. And there’s definitely plenty of that in Galactic Racer. [Hands-On Impressions]

Fuse Games is setting Galactic Racer up to be part story-driven Star Wars experience, part classic-feeling arcade game, and part millennial nostalgia pull. If it can be more than the sum of all three, it has a shot at being something really special. [Hands-On Impressions]

Not only were my fears of the roguelite loop unfounded, but the Burnout roots baked into developer Fuse Games’s DNA was joyously evident in every moment I spent on the track with Star Wars: Galactic Racer. And the times I wasn’t going hundreds of miles per hour when I was on foot did a great job of further Star Wars-ifying my experience. I’m incredibly optimistic about what I’ve seen from this long overdue spiritual successor to Episode 1: Pod Racer, and I can’t wait to play more of it. [Hands-On Impressions]

This nerd had a lot of fun in my short time with Star Wars Galactic Racer, and it’s right up there as another game I will be all over come release later this year. Fuse Games have done an excellent job bringing racing into the iconic Star Wars universe, and I think the game will delight both sci-fi and racing fans alike. [Hands-On Impressions]

The races are exciting, the tracks are terrific, and there are plenty of Star Wars touches that fans of the series can nerd out over. It’s a strong statement from Fuse Games, a studio founded by former Criterion Games developers. If it can land both a killer Star Wars game and an influential racing game on its first lap, it could be running the road in no time. [Hands-On Impressions]

I’m thrilled with what I’ve played of Star Wars: Galactic Racer so far. It’s a high-octane racer that will thrill Burnout fans, but beyond that, the game’s campaign mode has a depth that I didn’t expect. My main question now is the length of the campaign, and just how different each run can be. But even if the depth shown off in this demo isn’t fully realized in the final game, the racing itself has done more than enough to convince me. [Hands-On Impressions]

This is not to be confused with Burnout Paradise, since Galactic Racer isn’t an open-world racing game. But the takedowns themselves feel pure Burnout, albeit with speeders and speederbikes and swoops instead of cars and motorcycles and trucks. [Hands-On Impressions]

Likely the game that surprised me most at Summer Game Fest, Star Wars: Galactic Racer is so much more than I first thought. While it has all the modes you'd expect: arcade, time trials, and online multiplayer, it's single-player story mode takes a sharp unexpected turn into roguelike sensibilities. [Hands-On Impressions]

Star Wars: Galactic Racer captures exactly what I remember from playing the Burnout racing games, and I left the demo booth feeling exhilarated. Along with Hela: Of Mice & Magic and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, it was one of the best games I played at the Summer Game Fest, and I can't wait to play more. [Hands-On Impressions]

There are so many more cool things in Galactic Racer, like the tactile little minigame where you start up your vehicle, or the paddock where you can chill out between races and chat with NPCs. It all feels like a complete package, and out of everything I played at Summer Game Fest, this is the one I'm most looking forward to. [Hands-On Impressions]
