Another subvertion of written lore to the modern custom regarding the artificial, fabricated, forced integration between different races into something that clearly doesn't sustain itself. We've seen it in pathetic shows like "The Rings Of Power". Now this. The book this tv show is based on doesn't describe this "integration" at all. But here we see another tired example of the forced results of sicken trends threaded into appreciated and famous ouvre. You know what? It is working in the exact opposite direction of social unity, it creates rejection and even worse feelings upon us individuals trying to carry on in mixed race circumstances. Besides, the script is dull and boring, the creature-CGI starts looking tiresome and lacks excitement anymore. Skip this. Watch a 50's movie and hope for the best.

First half of season 1 was a welcome return to Westeros . . . and then the time jump and it fell off from there. No need to watch anymore. If I wanted endless catty **** and drama I'd make sure to attend holidays at with my extended family not watch a knock-off GoT pre-sequel prologue series . . . God this had potential, and like GRRM playing ding-bat by the pool instead of writing . . . it failed.

This prequel series from the Game of Thrones universe is heavy on the family drama, although it still has the occasional graphic sex scene or violence to remind us which franchise we're watching. Many will probably take issue with the slow pace and focus on women's and minority's perspectives, however I found it to be a compelling fantasy series in its own right.

Not watched GoT and the first season of this was generally gripping. A King (played so well) trying to keep is family together while carrying a dire secret of a foreshadowing legacy. Matt Damon range from sci-fi quirky Dr Who to deadly fantasy Prince is amazing. The whole interbreeding, adulterous backstabbing family factions always seems ripe for disaster is this show. It's not a place of heroes. So no good guys/gals to root for in this one. I might pick up season two at some point.

I was shocked to learn how mixed the reception to this show has been, but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by anything so far. I guess women really are scary.

Well-developed plot. It takes up themes and atmosphere present in the original series but proposes a faster narrative pace, in favor of the plot but to the detriment of the characterization of some characters

Love every moment, every scene. Thes story feels more personal, smaller than GoT, but still filled with emotion and high stakes... and more dragons!

Game of Thrones season 8 was a masterpiece compared to this stillbirth. This show treats gossip and sexual immorality with the same reverence that the original series treated honor and power. War and death are portrayed as cosmetic set pieces for the gasping and guffawing of the ladies of the court. It's bad soap opera with a better show's name on it's banner. The male characters especially poorly written. They're like little flimsy cutout versions of what a 12-year-old girl thinks men are like. It's genuinely hard to watch for anyone who isn't a complete misandrist. They are treated like toys and playthings for the women of the show; a near-total objectification and degeneration of the gender and genuinely offensive to anyone with a shred of respect for masculinity. House of The Dragon is "Harem Anime" for the modern liberal woman.

Exceptional... for a drama
the fans will never be satisfied because it's a drama buttheir isn't a better one than GoT
What I dislike is they really play up the lethality of reproduction

Season 2 Episode 8 is the worst TV writing of the year. From the mud-wrestling scene with a TERRIBLY written a new character doing mud wrestling with gleaming 21st century veneers (hollywood fake teeth), to the soaring symphony track over a five minute closing montage, every single beat is cringe. The other S2 episodes were not nearly so unprofessional; this last entry alienates the audience unnecessarily at a key commercial moment. Whoever wrote this has not understood the aesthetic laid down in Season 1. They are looking for cheap laughs, and even cheaper character identification. You don't need a big budget to make this show sing, you just need screenwriters who can... write.

First season brilliant. Second season much slower, less action too much dialogue but it all sets it up beautifully for the hopefully action packed blood soaked season 3 to come in the not too distant future.

Season 2 is too short, it shouldn't have ended like this. But I felt entertained by some of the episodes in a way that rarely happens anymore. However, after all the groundwork for war, a spectacle is essential, anything less would be unjustifiable.

"What on earth is happening? This is what's happening:
1. HBO is trying to milk this series for all it's worth, and it's disheartening.
2. In a tv series where killing off characters should be embraced, they're dragging it out in a mediocre fashion. 3. They're attempting to justify the actions of the green and black teams, or worse, portray women as heroes instead of the tyrants they truly are, no one is good in game of thrones. 4. Because in this new woke culture, depicting them as villains seems to be... well, I don't like where this is headed.
5. Resurrecting dead characters through visions because the actors were so good is a ridiculous attempt to keep them around.
I'm abandoning all things related to geek culture, TV series, and movies from this theme. 6. I am looking for new hobbies and passions. This content no longer resonates with me, as the direction of this new culture is to portray all men negatively. White man most of all... Instead of bringing entertainment and fun, now they want to impose political agendas, taking a side and villainizing the other. How can you be so sure that one political side is right or wrong? And why bring political views instead of universal themes that shouldn't be politicized?!
The Boys, Acolyte and now the end of House of The Dragons!!!
I am done with with all of that!!! And you should freeyourself too!

Honestly, it's unbearable to watch. I'm writing this review while the last episode is playing in the background. Those endless dialogues are just too much. For comparison, in the final episode of the second season of Game of Thrones, there were only 7 minutes of dialogue. In House of the Dragon, there are 7 minutes of action and 62 minutes of dialogue. How much longer can they keep justifying themselves? It's just awful and unwatchable. Please, change the writers. As a fan of the universe, I'm in turmoil, feeling disappointed, frustrated, unsatisfied, and angry. In a word, the experience is utterly horrible. Let's admit it, only two significant events happened this season, no more. Talks, talks, talks, dialogues, talks, and more dialogues. They couldn't have made a worse season. Now I'm off to watch these pathetic 10 minutes of talking. Terrible!!! 1.5 out of 5!!!

Is it wrong to give a decent show a very low score because it has the worst 2nd season finale in history? Idk, but hopefully they’ll listen & not **** the bed in season 3. If the showrunners thought this was a good idea, they should be replaced.

Actually embarrassing. The show meanders and goes nowhere, obviously in order to stretch it out for as many seasons possible. There's asspulled connections to GoT in form of prophecies, which we all know amount to jack ****. The writing is down in the dumpster, especially compared to 1-4 GoT. The dragons look pretty at least, so the show has that going for it. Other than that, it's a massive waste of money, tribalizing people into #TeamGreen or #TeamBlack, butchering characters completely to fit those tribalistic narratives, and adding pointless **** in the adaptation that serves no one. No wonder G.R.R.M. washed his hands clean of this ****.

The show is very well done. excellent music. high production value. great acting.
Story wise it starts very strong but drops off with each episode. There's a lot I was willing to overlook in senseless action scenes and senseless dialog and actions taken by characters if the overall story was great. Sadly it's hard to overlook even the small inconsistencies and lack of sense in characters when it doesn't serve the overall story. Better writers would have made this a great show. sadly modern Hollywood tropes and values reduce it to a mere soap opera, mediocre drama at best.

I agree with some of the woke patrol , the diversity stuff is once again at times contrary to lore and story logic but not as annoying as in the witcher, let alone the joke that is lotr now This show on the other hand gives me , as GoT fan a very welcome prelude to those great first six seasons , a showing of lesser known houses and castles and above all, stellar , stellar dragon fights, kudos . D arcy and Smith also great , Rhys Ifans always is . Considine superb in s1.

House of the Dragon proves to be a worthy successor to Game of Thrones, offering a compelling narrative, strong performances, and stunning visuals. With its exploration of Targaryen history and the turbulent events of the Dance of the Dragons, the series promises to captivate both existing fans and newcomers to the world of Westeros.

I honestly don’t understand all the 10s and 0s. The show is gorgeous. The acting is great. The activism is annoying, but not too much of a sledgehammer. The problem with season 1 is that is it basically a Soap Opera with lots of talking, scheming, betrayal and girl drama. Sigh. Where are my hunky barbarians? Outside of the dragons, there is nothing numinous about their world and nothing to care about or fight for other than power. It’s not terrible, it’s just a big disappointment when compared with its elder brother.

Loved the first season even more than how the second season is pacing itself. from the first half of building tension to the conclusion, the first season is strong as any other early iterations of Game of thrones. Even though we're stuck with the same people throughout the series, their compelling journeys keep me wanting more and I hope season 2 doesn't slow the pace down as we are half way through the second season as i write this.

One of the things that makes Game of Thrones work is the absence of the Targaryens: the struggle for power brings out the characters of both the individuals and their houses. Those characters, so finely and expertly drawn by GRR Martin, are what make GoT one of the greatest shows of all time, and why Martin has very few peers in his genre. Even in the books and on the show, Danaerys’s storyline, while still very good, is the weakest. Of all the sins of the infamous final season, the failure to convincingly portray her character’s arc is maybe the biggest.House of Dragons suffers from Targaryen Syndrome. There’s less distinction between the characters; to the extent they are portrayed, we’ve seen their type before. The relative lack of the presence of other houses hampers the show, while the preponderance of entitled silver-haired duds makes it hard to care about any one of them. Game of Thrones had a wealth of indelible characters whose stories fascinated us; even brief turns like Oberyn Martell were star-making and unforgettable. One of that show’s few flaws (all stemming from lack of original text and showrunners’ desire to wrap the show quickly) was including lame bad guy, Euron Greyjoy, without having the ability to develop his character (a psychopath on par with Ramsay Bolton in the book). House of Dragons hasn’t gone that far down, but it’s much more Euron than not. Daemon is arguably the most interesting character but even he seems like something not fully fleshed **** should be clear I blame the writing; like its predecessor’s final two seasons, HoD doesn’t have rich veins of Martin’s prose and character development l; its text source is more of a historical narrative. Most of the actors are very good and the show is beautifully crafted. It’s a good show, and I’ll be watching. But it carries on from the legacy **** show, making it fair game for comparison.

Single-handedly the best show which was realeased during the last few years. Huge budget is clearly visible here unlike The Rings of Power or The Acolyte where you think it´s just some expensive poor lore breaking fan fiction. Acting is phenomenal all around the cast and extras. CGIed dragons looks like they are almost real. Whole series stays very true to it´s well established lore and books.

Great writing, amazing acting and the woke propaganda is kept to a bear minimum, which was truly a surprise being the year 2022.
Yes, the black cousins of the Targaryen are laughable, but again it's a mainstream show in 2022. I suspect that without something like that the show wouldn't even be allowed to air.

For english below...

A series that is in no way inferior to the quality of Game of Thrones. If you take the innovation bonus of GoT out of the equation, the prequel fires you up so seamlessly that it was a real pleasure. With an excellent cast and great stories. I also like the fact that the actors are finally replaced during time jumps because they get older. Top! I bought the 4K UHD without ever having streamed the series anywhere before. Unfortunately, it only has Dolby Digital, but the sound is fine. DTS would have got a lot more out of it. Dolby Vision as an HDR format shows some blurred and very soft images here. In dark scenes, however, the mastering is extremely good and brings out everything possible (assuming reference OLED). The hybrid picture format is great! What I don't like is that if I say in the UHD menu that I only want to watch one episode, the disk still runs through all the episodes :( On the positive side, the menu music only runs through once. All in all, a fine 4K UHD that I can highly recommend to any fan of the franchise. Translated with **** (free version)

What the hell? This show has no stakes! What do I care if this Aegon guy in a cheap wig or Matt Smith's grandma lookin ass in a cheap wig gets the iron throne? What is this garbage? We don't care about any of these people! Who even are they? We barely even know their names and you expect us to care about them or their lame medieval soap opera drama? And cheap shock value "awesome" scenes aren't enough to carry a show. Come on!

Luckily for this series, it came out about the same time as the all-time hilariously bad Rings of Power did. So naturally, compared to that steaming pile of garbage, this one might even be considered as passable. But do not be fooled by this deception, House of the Dragon is a boring show, with poorly written characters (a couple of exceptions here), needlessly deviating from the source material. The dialogues are simply abysmal. Tried watching it when it was released last year and my first impressions were it is a solid "meh". Now that I've seen the season, I can confirm it is. Leagues below GOT.

A clown of a show. Does not even come close to the greatness of the early GOT seasons. The dialogues and characters are so limp and dull and uninteresting. It's as if they are about to say "See? We said something really witty and clever, right!? Right!? Now applause!" after delivering yet another lame punchline.
