The first few episodes of season one really turned me off. I avoided this series after seeing them. The lead characters were so unlikeable that I had no interest in seeing more. I couldn't believe this started getting renewed so I gave it a little more of a chance. What I disliked was created on purpose to set up the story. This series is about people who think their lives are great or terrible, but how they can make them better through karate and the philosophies associated with the different styles. If you are a fan of the original films (and classic 80s movies), this is something you will like. That's not to say that modern young actors and ideals also aren't also present, but don't expect DEI or political leanings. The series is about a story for fans, not about politics. Honestly, this is one of the best series I've seen in years.

Was my favourite tv shows for a very long time and it is still phenomenally written and acted by the enitre cast. Fateful to the movies in the best way possible. It does getquite cringey at moments but this IP has always been a little cringey so its expected.

This is the best show I think I have ever seen, and I didn't even grow up with the karate kid films. one scene will have me crying, another laughing, another cheering. It is like the exact opposite of Disney Star Wars - this is actually fun. I want more shows and films from the Miyagi-Verse!

Cons: There are a few slow episodes here and there. Pros: This show is a hilarious ride full of heart. The fight scenes are intense and creative. The characters are all loveable in their own ways. You will find yourself rooting for someone characters while hating on others. And before you know it, you will root for all of them as you learn about each of their individual struggles. This show has the best school fight scene that I have ever seen and some of the best humor I've ever heard. Something I really like about this show is that both the adult and kid story lines are very engaging. This show's soundtrack is also awesome. Finally, this show brings back many of the characters from the original Karate Kid movies as older adults, and they're not just there for cameos. Many of them play vital roles in the series, so it's all connected. Kind of like a Karate Kid cinematic universe you could say, but it's handled amazingly well.

A great continuation of sorts of the cult classic Karate Kid franchise. It’s nice to see LaRusso and Lawrence back together, whether they’re bickering on opposite sides or working together on the same side. Features great fight scenes that escalate in intensity and skill with each season. A definite must-watch for fans of the franchise, fans of martial arts, and fans of action series.

Really good show. Perfect ending couldn't be better. It might be boring at some moments, but it makes up for it when the fights start.

Season 1 was fantastic; Johnny's character was original, relatable, and genuine. He started out as the main focus of the series which appeared to be a self aware dramatic retelling of the karate kid. What ended up happening instead was the old bait and switch. They pull you in with Johnny's story, and it quickly becomes a woke fest recycling every Disney channel and Nickelodeon teenage drama trope imaginable with endless and forced diversity and gender focus. The characters feel hollow, inorganic, and at best boring. The story goes virtually nowhere with pointless love triangles, filler material, and silly fight sequences. The only thing that keeps this show from being awful is season 1 and Sting Ray's comic relief. 5/10

It's cheesy and corny, but it is still a blast. Seeing the characters from the past all grown up and the new generation of fighters and their story is still a fun time. Not a show to take too seriously.

One of the most badass shows of all time. It has a great cast and the second I saw the entire first season I just got into it so badly. Season 5 was the best in my opinion and I can't wait for season 6. The storytelling is also very phenomenal and I liked how it impressively connects to the older movies.

The performances from the mainline cast are great. Production is above average. Writing is not good. Woke trends and tropes taking priority over the story especially in S2 are really forced and ruin this. 6/10 at best for KK fans.

Cobra Kai es una serie muy buena que trae del pasado al presente la rivalidad entre Daniel Larusso y Johny Lawrence, con una trama interesante y nuevos personajes muy buenos a la altura de los originales

Well, that's a hell of a job. I really like the Karate Kid trilogy and seeing my favorite characters live on after a few years was famous. I'm so impressed with what they've made of them. I really liked how their lives went on and when I think back to the old Karate Kids, it's a blast and I think it's a really great progression. There's not much need to reminisce as there are flashbacks to old movies here and there to remind you of some situations. So seeing Daniel and Johnny a few years later was surreal and they pull the whole series together for me, but they definitely don't lag behind the rest! The other characters were great too and some of them had awesome development. The music was good, but the one I downright adore is the one that almost always plays at the end of the episode. It feels so 80's but modern at the same time and I think it's a very good mix. It downright made me want to watch the next episode every time. This show had perhaps everything on point. The storyline, but also the action, which is yummy here. In fact, I'd say there's not a single flaw. Even after Netflix took it over and I was so expecting a drop in quality, I have to admit that I was wrong in the end, and maybe even in such a 4th season the quality even went up a little bit, which I thought was maybe not even possible anymore. We'll see how it goes from here and I hope they don't spoil the ending somehow. It would be a shame. It's wonderfully paced and the quality hasn't dropped. I'd rather not drag it out too much longer and delay the ending, but who knows, maybe I'll be wrong again and Netflix will blow my mind. For me, a great series that I recommend, even to those who haven't seen Karate Kid, but it'll definitely have more value to you if you watch the old Karate Kid, preferably if you saw it a long time ago, because then it's a nice nostalgia trip. Season 1 - 8,5/10 Season 2 - 8,5/10 Season 3 - 8,5/10 Season 4 - 9/10

During the first two thirds of the first season, I had high hopes for this show. That they actually tried to so something novel and not just do a typical modern remake where you imitate old ideas and push modern political issues into a genuine fictional world. But I was wrong. The issue isn't politics though but their lack of fantasy. They didn't dare to deviate from typical cliches. Overall, everything is too predicable on a plot level and character authenticity is sacrificed for it. Characters make stupid choices they wouldn't naturally do just to drive the plot. Because they couldn't find any better plot tools. It's disappointing. This could have been much more.

When I first saw a trailer for this new YouTube premium show I didn’t think much of it. Looked like a cheap way to cash in on an iconic 80s film so I couldn’t possibly imagine this was going to turn out to be one of my favorite series of the past few years. Every time a new season comes out I just binge watch it and keep wanting for more. There isn’t a dull moment in this show. Cobra Kai not only brings back your favorite characters as a fan service but it brings complexity that allows for exploration of grey area. Cobra Kai created a unique tone that finds balance in teen soap opera, interesting character moments and pure badassery!

This rating is for season 4: I rate it a 5/10 because of the introduction of foul language and the “wokeness” lines that are completely unnecessary. I don’t need my entertainment to be woke. Johnny Laurence is hilarious and always keeps me laughing. I would recommend watching seasons 1,2,3 and I would rate them 10/10. The series is easy and fun to watch just cut out the wokeness and you will have a show that the whole family can watch instead of trying to be cool creative and trying to make a statement.

Holy crap was that finale something else. I was upset that Johnny was brought to a low point at the end of Season 4, but here he's done justice. EVERYONE is done justice. Absolutely loved it.

The glorification of fragile masculinity. The acting is subpar and one-note. The writing is lazy. Save yourself the time and watch the original Karate Kid.

This show is a solid follow up to Karate Kid that improves on the dynamics set up in the movie by giving Johnny Lawrence a fresh perspective as a villain trying to be better.

Beautiful crafted nostalgic trip down memory lane. Also has a utter rarity in modern television, a well written script that takes risks & isn't afraid to offend the snowflakes. No i'm not a Trump supporter....quite the opposite....just think snowflakes have become a huge problem in TV & Cinema. Writers are writing scripts terrified to offend & we are getting absolute dirt. Also because people are getting jobs based on filling diversity quotas instead of who is the best this is also making matters even worse. The drop in quality the past 2-3years has being staggering. So let's get to the actual show: So cobra kai is a most welcome change from all this. It's not afraid to cling to the nostalgia it knows it stirs in its fans. And it's brave with its choices & storytelling. All in all makes for great television. However now that netflix has got it hands on it, the very ones so guilty of all the aforementioned problems above; i see it maybe being slowly being watered down season by season to the constant snowflake crap Netflix usually put out with the odd exceptions like Stranger **** Crown.......kinda & Mindhunters.....kinda. The King was great & their documentaries are usually relatively free of it aswell.

This show just goes from strength to strength in character development and story telling. It is a genuine masterclass of how to bring an old story into the modern day. For those familiar with the original Karate Kid movies, the storylines are familiar and engaging. You become aware once viewing episodes of Cobra Kai of how two-dimensional the original movie characters were and how simplistic the story themes were. In the CK show, the characters are nuanced and well developed, with backstory development and different perspectives - Zabka's performance as Johnny is fantastic and you can't help rooting for the guy as he bumbles through life. While Macchio's 'Daniel' is a much richer and less likeable character in many ways, both are so much more fully realised and human and that is just the start. By series 3, even the wholly 'bad guy' Kreese has a fuller backstory and is becoming more understandable in his motivation, if not likeable. Series 1 introduces the characters and in many ways parallels the original movie for the modern audience, with many new characters. Series 2 is where things really get interesting in term of the development of new storylines for characters and series 3 keeps the tension at the same high levels. This is probably the only show left that I would (and did) binge from start to finish the day it is released.

A fun series that is way better than it has any business being. Action packaged underdog story, that over time will test your allegiance, not of the show itself, but of it’s characters and their journey. Both the acting and plot are a joy to watch with each season raising the bar. Cant wait for season 4.

Season 3 Review: General Review: Season 3 delves deeper into the history of the three main senseis – LaRusso, Lawrence and Kreese whilst also developing the story line and character development of the younger cast. LaRusso’s wife (Amanda) plays a bigger role in this season and it adds another element to the series which was very enjoyable. We get to see LaRusso travel back to Japan to try save his business which leads to him re-establishing connections to old characters (originally from the Karate Kid 2 movie) one from which he learns more about the history of Miyagi karate and more advances techniques his old master never taught him. Meanwhile Johnny Lawrence who had tried hard in the last season to turn things around for himself and his students but failed starts the season much as he did the first season, a bit of a drunk loser who has given up on himself and life and is stuck in his past failings but as the season progresses he gets some good character development. We also get to see into Kreese’s past and what turned him to the deranged **** he is today. The Good: John Lawerence’s character development, he has done some very questionable things over the three seasons of the show and had some growth in season 2 but this was again explored and developed further in season 3 to the point where his decisions surprised and pleased me. The fighting cerography for the majority was great, there are some big fight scenes with many people involved and it is hard to organize a bunch of stupid kids to do anything right so I was impressed. The cringe moments, especially in the romance scenes, the show is very cringe and not only does it know it but it embraces the cringe, and this embrace somehow makes it better. Some shows try to be too serious and still come of as cringe but Cobra Kai avoids that by just going all in. Looking into the past of the three main sensais, it was great to see more backstory about the conflicting characters, be that from Daniel’s trip to Japan, stories from the ex-girlfriend (of both Daniel and Johnny) and the flashback scenes for Kreese. Martin Kove’s acting as John Kreese. When a villain in a show make you really angry and you want to punch himself in the face you know the actor is doing a great job. The Bad: The Hawk. He is such a **** an A-grade Areshole and everything about him is just annoying, from the try hard tattoos to his mohawk – just cant stand the guy – despite what I said above about Martin Kove’s acting I cant stand this guy so much he falls into the bad sections. Major Spoiler Ahead: The Hawk’s redemption. Although there were a couple hints at him having regrets about his misdeeds and him rethinking what he is doing the redemption was too sudden, after 3 episodes of being an absolute joke and only getting worse and worse throughout season 3 – it is only during the final battle with all the kids involved that he changes sides literally halfway through the fight, and despite all the stuff he is done they just forgive him instantly and welcome him back in, sorry no can do for me! The cringe, despite saying the cringe factor was a good thing, it is still cringe and some people just can’t deal with it at all so it can also be a bad thing. Miguel’s recovery. I get that willpower and determination can definitely help with recovery and the show did show that it was a slight struggle at the beginning of the season but he goes from not being able to walk for half the season to being able to hold his own in the final fight scene against people that should be in far better condition physically. In the final fight scene he takes a real beating to his injured back but this seems to have no effect on him at all. Not to note I am pretty sure Johnny’s methods of rehab and strengthening would have done more harm than good and set Miguel’s recovery back months. Final Thoughts: There is plenty of action and drama with a sprinkle of comedy and romance thrown in, a little bit for everyone to enjoy (maybe a bit too violent for younger kids though). If you haven’t yet started the series I highly suggest watching all three seasons, they are great fun to watch. Score: 7 out of 10 pineapples!

Binge worthy character driven drama that makes you root for the underdog (without forgetting what a dog he is). Character evolution, and reversals aplenty add up to classic storytelling in tight half hour chapters. Check out the first two original films first as there are lots of little callbacks throughout.
