General Review: Hosting a cast of big name actors from the likes of James Bond and Captain America and many more this is a fun murder mystery movie which will leave you guessing to the end. The Good: The interaction between the family members was enjoyable and provided laughs throughout the movie. A unique medical condition to one of the characters made for a very interesting and well used narrative tool. Multiple mysteries and twists and turns intertwined throughout the movie but for the most part if you are paying attention there are hints along the way which makes the ending make sense. The Bad: As clever as Mr Blanc is depicted a lot of his conclusions were based upon people remembering the exact wording of conversations from an emotional night that happened days beforehand. And as most scientists will agree eye-witness testimony and human memory are some of the weakest forms of evidence. Final Thoughts: An enjoyable movie, at times I was certain I knew the answers to the mystery, and at times my guesses were accurate only for another spanner to then be thrown into the works which added another layer to the overall mystery. Would recommend giving this a watch if you have a couple spare hours and will be very interested to see what happens in the announced sequel. Score: 7.5 out of 10 pineapples!

General Review: Another movie I had never heard of and wasn’t sure what to expect. Have heard of a lot of Martin Scorsese movies but haven’t seen many (if any) before. The acting, cinematography and music were all fine in this movie but for some reason it barely held my interest. Might be my sleep depraved state I was in when watching it but I just didn’t find myself caring about any of the characters and nothing really seemed to happen. I know there were different mob-type people, a few fights and a restaurant involved but characters just seemed to come and go and nothing really seemed to happen. The Good: The music – a great mixture of different styles or music which perfectly matched the different scenes and moods of the movie. The editing and cinematography – the scenes and angles all seemed to add to different scenes, hardly noticed any cuts within scenes which usually suggests they were well done. Small touches like the shaky camera in running scenes also added another dimension of immersion. The Bad: The plot and characters – not if this was the movie/plots fault or my own but both the characters and plot didn’t draw me in and I found myself bored at times. Final Thoughts: Although there was nothing noticeably bad with the movie it just never really floated my boat and was a bit luck luster for myself. Score: 6 out of 10 pineapples!

Romance films are not normally my cup of tea but I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I found myself genuinely interested in the characters. Throughout the movie I was enthralled with finding out how it would end, however the ending was somewhat of a letdown. The Good: The acting by both the main actors (Barbara Stanwyck as the titular lady eve and Henry Fonda as the love interest Charles) was fantastic. The rest of the cast was also good but the main two were superb in their ability to portray emotions both in their voice, facial expressions and body language all throughout the movie. The story, a very well written story that kept me entertained from start to finish, there were never any dull or boring parts. The Bad: Charles the naïve fool, for someone who is supposedly a scientist he is very naïve and lacks critical thinking. But I guess a pretty lady supposedly makes even the smartest man a fool. The ending, without spoiling the storyline I cannot go into much detail as to why I didn’t like the ending but it seemed a little bit rushed and unbelievable. Being spoilt growing up in the current era of films with modern technology made this film difficult to watch at certain times, mostly in the scenes with more rapid movement, or the zoomed-out scenes. It feels a bit harsh to bring this up but it did detract from the overall experience for myself Final Thoughts: A romance, come revenge story line with superb acting and an enthralling story with interesting characters, with some scenes that truly made me laugh. I was pleasantly surprised that a movie from the 40s portrayed a woman as an intelligent, interesting and lead character. If you are a fan of romance movies I highly recommend giving it a watch. Score: 7.5 out of 10 pineapples!
