Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition9
Nov 21, 2023
An absolute must-play. This game does so much well and not a whole lot wrong. The combat is brutal and satisfying while being incredibly cinematic. The gun-play is decent, a bit of an aftethought, but servicable. The storyline of being an undercover cop in the triad is well executed and the emotional beats of the story are done well, and the rest of it feels like an incredible action movie. It looks decent for its time, the definitive edition doesn't really improve it alot and the game runs fairly well outside of a few bugs here and there.

Yakuza Kiwami7
Nov 29, 2023
Recommend this game, maybe on sale. The story is solid with fleshed out character arcs for each character and the main antagonist is executed well. I didn't play the original, but the remake keeps the same feel of Yakuza fairly well and looks fairly decent. Combat in general is pretty fun, but forcing you to seek out Majima to upgrade Dragon is a little annoying. Only real con is the boss design can be a little mediocre. None of the bosses are really that difficult, but they are just incredibly spammy and it can get more annoying than anything (I'm looking at you, Jingu). There is a general issue with conflating difficulty with annoying spammy movesets.

Yakuza 08
Nov 27, 2023
I recommend this game. As an entry point of the franchise, this game is incredibly fun. The graphics are decent and the cutscenes look fantastic. The combat is engaging and pulling off intricate combos is very satisfying. The multiple fighting styles and dual-protagonist system adds for some good variability in combat and keeps things fresh. The story is great with well-executed twists and turns. Substories are quite interesting too. There are a few things that I didn't like like the cutscenes being very long and dragging on, the story can feel stretched out where it does not need to be at times. The UI system isn't great, Item are a little inconvenient to use, the map is okay with a little jank, and something as simple quitting the game is unintuitive.

Tell Me Why7
Nov 21, 2023
Recommend on sale or on gamepass. If you like LIS games, you'll probably like this story. Tells a story of a trans man reuniting with his sister and the ups/downs that come with that while throwing in a death mystery plotline which is engaging. The game also provides solid trans representation and shines a light on the trans experience well. Story is on the weaker end of Dontnod games, but stil interesting.

Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series9
Nov 21, 2023
Highly Recommend. It's a telltale success. The Borderlands universe is colorful with good humor, solid story telling, while being an emotional, character-driven story. Gameplay is standard telltale format, so pretty much just interactive movies, but if you like them you'll like this one. Art-style and graphics are great too. Nothing to really complain about.

Nov 21, 2023
Probably my most controversial gaming take, but I do not recommend. The story is just okay and the gameplay feels a bit too clunky and I found myself just getting bored of pushing through and stopped around Novigrad. Maybe I'll revisit it one day and re-evaluate, but it's just not for me,

Nov 21, 2023
Definitely recommend if you like fighting games. The art style is beautiful with great graphics general. Performance is stable and fighting with friends or online is still a blast. The roster of characters is great and the multiple control settings is great to have options. World Tour mode is kind of mediocre and a little cringe at times, but still cool to create your own SF character,.

Saints Row IV8
Nov 21, 2023
Highly recommend. Saints Row expands on 3 by adding aliens and superpowers making the gameplay just incrediblly fun and revisting different style of games and eras with rescuing your friends keeps the game fresh and exciting. You also get to be president of the United States. The story is weaker than 3 but still enjoyable and you can argue they took the ridiculousness too far, but that's something you should decide for yourself.

Saints Row: The Third8
Nov 21, 2023
Highly recommend this game. The first Saints Row I actually played and it's great. The story is wacky and funny with a good amount of charm and personality to each character you meet. The villains are over-the-top in a great way and the gameplay is just incredibly fun with the takedowns, variety of wacky weapons, ragdoll physics, and more. The game does dial up the wackiness to 11 from the second game which might throw some people off, but I loved it. Makes the game feel unique and I haven't played anything like it.

Mafia III7
Nov 21, 2023
I recommend this game as well. For me, it's the weakest of the franchise, but the story is still well-written and Lincoln is great protagonist and probably the most badass. The gunplay and melee combat is great and the game looks amazing visually with solid performance. The game can be bogged down with overly repetive mission structures and taking over districts is pretty much doing the same thing over and over with very little variation in level design and layout.

Nov 21, 2023
Highly recommend this game. Just as good as the first one. A really well-crafted Mafia story with a great protagonist with interesting antagonists and side characters you meet throughout the game. Mafia: Definitive Edition8
Nov 21, 2023
Definitely recommend this game. The story is compelling with interesting characters and twists/turns that keep the story exciting. The game looks great visually and runs well. Tommy Angelo is a great protagonist with a good amount depth to his character with solid VA work and motion capture. The gameplay is simple, but executed well/ There is not really anything to do after the main story is completed and the free ride mode is just boring with nothing to do.

Assassin's Creed Mirage7
Nov 21, 2023
I recommend this game. A solid entry to the AC franchise pulling back on the RPG fantastical elements and shifting back to a stealh-focused gane within a tigher city. The stealth is solid with an array of tools and methods to infilirate areas and get your targets. The investigation of each target is also unique enough to keep things fresh. The story is decent with a bit of a rushed ending. Parkour is fun and the focus assassinations are suprisingly more satisfying than I thought, all I would have preferred a chain assassination animation similar to "Ghost of Tsushima" or the arkham games. The movement can feel a bit finicky and clunky sometimes and the influence of games like Valhalla with the movement are still prevalent. Would haved liked it to be a bit quicker with a few more fluid animations like AC Unity, AC3, or Syndicate.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm7
Nov 17, 2023
Not as good as the first game and LIS 2/3, but still a worthwhile installment to play if you liked the characters of LIS 1. Showing Chloe and Rachel's relationship regardless of how you play it enhances how you view Chloe's character and drive in the first game immensely. Seeing the characters you are familiar with like Victoria or Nathan before he becomes a lunatic is incredibly interesting from the perspective of a character not named Max Caulfield. The decisions don't feel like they matter nearly as much as the other games.

Life is Strange 28
Nov 17, 2023
Highly recommend this one as well. The sequel to LIS 1 in my opinion is just as good taking you on a journey between two brothers and surviving together with exciting twists and turns, a great art style, and improved graphics. Choices actually do matter and it makes you genuinely feel like an older brother and that your guidance has a serious effect on how Daniel turns out. The story can be brutally sad at points though so don't say I didn't warn you. The only complaint were some of the political topics covered especially in episode 4 and 5 can be a little on-the-nose and cheesy rather than impactful. The message I understand, but perhaps wasn;t delivered with great care.

Nov 17, 2023
Highly recommend this game. It's a fantastic story that has twists and turns exploring different relationships very well and builds out the world/city of Arcadia Bay very well. Comes with 5 episodes that are each a few hours and you truly get invested in the lives of Max Caulfield, but even side characters as well. Art style is very atmospheric dependant on the scene.

Garbage story if you actually like comics. Fundamentally misunderstands the majority of character used in this story. The story is terrible no matter the medium in which is told. Hitman 28
Nov 17, 2023
Recommend, but wait for a sale. Another good entry to the Hitman franchise. The gameplay itself is fun, the gunplay feels good and the stealth mechanics are well-done. The maps are much bigger and variable than the first game and the story is a bit better The constant need to be connected to servers to access certain content is still annoying and the game is still extremely short which makes the full price of 60 bucks feel a bit steep.

Nov 17, 2023
I recommend it, maybe wait for a sale if you're not completely sold. I get to play as the batfamily and explore characters other than Bruce in Gotham. That alone makes this an enjoyable game for me. Combat is actuallly pretty engaging when you get a feel for the playstyle of each character. I especially like how different each character feels when fighting. I especially Like the characterizations of the characters and their relationships with each other. The story is pretty decent for what it's worth. It's no Arkham City, but it's fine/ The biggest issue at launch was optimization and after a few patches, it mostly runs smooth.

Cyberpunk 207710
Nov 16, 2023
Definitely recommend. especially after 2.0. Probably one of the most disappointing launches for a game in a while. But after waiting fo for CD Projekt RED to fix the big game-breaking bugs and improve performance and put out the 2.0 update, this game feels more like the game they promised. The story is great with solid emotional beats, interesting characters, twists and turns, and decisions that actually felt like they kind of **** Combat is solid and improved after 2.0 update, feeling more impactful with the new perk and skill trees. There are plenty of customization options and interesting quest lines for your character to venture into. New perk and skill trees system help with diversifying play styles and builds Melee combat still ****. The cop system improved, but still ****. They spawn in randomly and are incredibly easy to lose.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey8
Nov 16, 2023
I recommend this one. AC Odyssey is the second game in the shift in style from a linear, stealth/oriented game to more of an action RPG and is probably the best one, but there are still some weaknesses,. The game improves and expands the combat system in orgins and the RPG mechanic. The Greek setting is beautiful with lots of intriguing characters and environments. It is the most detached from the previous Assassin's creed games. You play as a literal demigod with an array of fantastical powers which may or may not appeal to you. The stealth approach is an option, but not really the focus of any combat scenarios and the game presents to incentive to be stealthy. Your character is not even called an assassin, and there aren't even that many armor sets with hoods and traditional assassin's creed garments.

Assassin's Creed Origins7
Nov 16, 2023
Worth giving a shot on sale. AC Origins shifted the AC formula from linear, stealh-focused games to an open-world RPG and it is mostly good with some stumbles. It has a very solid combat system with an array of abilities to use and weapons, a decent RPG system with the armor, weapons, side quests, mercenary system, and leveling system. The story is good for the most part and Bayek is a very interesting protagonist alongside Aya. The game is a big shift from traditional AC games lacking in terms of stealth combat. The story can drag on at points and level system can feel like a chore to gain access to the rest of the story rather than a fun grind.

Baldur's Gate 39
Nov 16, 2023
A must play. Coming from someone, who has never played DnD before and someone who is not a huge fan of turn-based combat in videogames, this game is great. The performance runs stable and the game looks great graphically. The sheer amount of customization and build options alongside the amount of freedom the player has in the story and various questlines is unlike any RPG I have ever played. The story is also pretty interested and executed well, starts to lose cohesiveness in act 3 and some of the late game villains like Gortash and Orin are not as interesting as they could be. There are a fair amount of bugs, but Larian Studios does a great job at listening to player feedback and putting out regular patches. Some encounters are overly difficult, not because of layout or enemy strategy, but just enemies throwing everything at you and spamming which can feel a bit cheap.

Marvel's Spider-Man 29
Oct 25, 2023
Definitely a must-play. The story is good with solid emotional beats, menacing villains, and character development for pretty much every character and balances Peter's story and Mile's story very well. The voice acting is still stellar. The gameplay is a more fluid version of the first game and the abilities/gadgets are intuitive to use. The swinging is faster and the web wings, new animations, sling shot mechanics is even more engaging. The game's difficulty is definitely spiked from the last two games and bosses actually feel like bosses. However, there are some shortcomings that I hope Insomniac addresses through either patches or DLC. There is a distinct lack of replayability through bases, crime selection features in the app from MM, mission replayability and less side content overall with a lower number of bases with less enemies/waves and enemy variety. I also wish there was the ability to manually set day or night cycles and change the symbiote power colors between black and white.

The Last of Us Remastered9
Sep 29, 2023
A must-play. Beautiful story in a growing relationship of a father-daughter dynamic in an apocalyptic setting. The combat is basic, but works for the type of game and the stealth is engaging because of the tense atmosphere and dangerous setting the game takes place in. You meet great characters along your journey, the emotional beats satisfy, and the ending is brutally poetic.

The Last of Us Part II8
Sep 29, 2023
I do recommend it. While I still enjoyed the first one more, this is a very good sequel. The combat and stealth gameplay is some of the best I have played and it is one of the best displays of graphical fidelity I have experienced. The story was always gonna split opinions, but I enjoyed it for the most part. It's not as groundbreaking as Druckmann and Naughty Dog hyped it to be, but it is still a decent revenge plot exploring grief and ptsd well.

Definitely recommend. Just a wicked fun time. The skill trees and hacking capability you can build throughout the game leads to plenty of variability in how you approach situations and the combat, stealth, gadget usage, and movement is extremely fun. I recommend it. Although I am pretty ass at the game. this is a solid entry in the MK Franchise with solid graphics, great character designs, and brutal animations. There is a good amount of offline content as well with the story, invasion mode, and towers and fighting cpus can still be fun. The story is solid, nothing to write home about. Gameplay is fluid and the game runs well although combos can be a bit finicky with the control scheme. There are some QOL issues like not being able to pin combos, but nothing that major.

Definitely Recommend. A worthy successor to Innocence, expands on the gameplay with stealth elements, crafting, and head-on combat with stunning visuals and graphics. The story is more intense and darker than Innocence and just as good if not better. Amicia is solidifed as one of the better protagonists in gaming with amazing development and story arcs. A truly character-driven narratives that satisfies what you want out of a dark, tragic story.

Starfield3
Sep 17, 2023
Do not recommend, unless you are a hardcore bethesda fan. Ultimately, what I liked was outweighed by what I didn't. The graphics are okay in certain areas, but incredibly inconsistent. A large part of the game looks dated and awful, but certain areas do look really good. Performance is mediocre. On a 3070 and i7-11800H with 32 gb of ram, I hit max 45 fps on medium settings. UI/Menu system feels sluggish and a hassle to go through and the over-reliance on fast travel dampens my desire to explore planets and citiies. Combat feels like there is no real weight to anything and there is noimpact on enemies. Enemy AI and Teammate AI is awful. Half the time, they just stand around doing nothing or deploy braindead fighting tactics. Facial expressions are in uncanny valley territory of emotionless robots. Main story is a bit basic and mediocre. A few positives are vast ship customization and customization in which factions you can join and amount of side quests you can do and a fair amount of them are interesting.

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series9
Sep 4, 2023
Highly recommend. My favorite tell-tale project and their most iconic for a reason. Clementine is one of the more interesting gaming characters you get to see actually grow up and your decisions actually factor into the type of person she ends up becoming. Numerous endings to each season although the decision-making itself throughout each episode does feel a little shallow at times as a bunch of the decisions just feel like slightly worded variants of the same answer that does not really affect much. But a great art style, solid story, and incredibly interesting cast makes this a great interactive game to play.

I do recommend this game. Graphically this game looks beautiful and it runs well the gameplay is fun for an interactive movie style of game with the quicklime event action sequences and plethora of decisions you make. The 3 characters you focus on all have very interesting showing different sides of the androids gaining consciousness and deviant issue. The customizability in the story with all the different endings you can get in each mission is crazy offering quite a lot of replayability, The overall story is interesting with some incredible references, but the slavery-civil rights allegory is definitely on-the-nose.

I can't believe I'm recommending a game where all you do is walk around as a cat and meow, but I am. The game has pretty solid world-building with interesting areas to explore and side stories to piece together while figuring out how to advance when all you can do is walk, jump, and meow. Not super long, but suprised me with how much I enjoyed my time with it. Is just kind of a relaxing game. I didn't pay for it as it was on PS Plus for a while, so I was just able to play as part of my subscription, but I wouldn 't hesitant to play it on sale for 20-30 bucks. Don't buy this **** Best way to describe this game is soulless. I loved WD1 and WD2 and loved the characters/story they set up while the open-world was still interesting to explore. The gameplay is actually decently fun with a good amount of hacks and the gunplay isn't bad the different characters you play as add a diverse skillset. But the story is horrendous and extremely repititives and the whole "play as anyone" just means every character is bland with no personality and these soulless characters you can control. The performance was just okay. Quite a few frame drops..

The story is well-crafted with solid emotional moments that flesh out each character, funny momments that make you laugh, and badas action sequences that make you exhilarated. Although I would have loved to play as the other members of the team, playing as Quill was still incredibly fun and the variation in your guns and skill trees kept the combat fresh and exciting and commanding your allies really made you feel like a leader. Lots of comic references that are interesting to find in each mission as well.

Recommend this game. The third installment in the LIS franchise, which I do really enjoy and it holds up the standards of predecessors. Artistically, it a similar art style to the previous games while looking even better than the first games. The game runs stable at 30 fps, and while 30 fps might seem low for a PS5 games, fps does not matter as much in these interactive movie style games as it does in other games. Alex Chen is a well-acted protagonist that is likable with an interesting backstory and the emotion-based powers are an interesting tool to navigate situations. The story unfolds nicely with some twists and turns throughouts. The two love interest options, Ryan and Steph are probably the most likeable love interests in the entire franchise (Yes even Chloe and Rachel).

Definitely recommend. This game suprised me a bit forsure. The story is incredible with well-written and likable characters throughout. The journey the game takes on with the relationships it explores is a sad, but beautiful one. The gameplay despite being a bit basic was suprisingly engaging despite only hvaing slings, rocks, and a few fire tools you unlock later and you mainly have to get through levels stealthily and being very resourceful with what you have. The game also oooks beeautiful and runs well. The rats also gave a very eery, but not scary vibe throughout thr game. The saving system and checkpoint system kind of **** though and the lack of skippable cutscenes gets tedious.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla7
Sep 3, 2023
Wait for a sale, but worth giving a shot. AC Valhalla being the latest installment of the AC franchise sees great graphical and performance upgrades in the next-gen variation of the games and is very impressive. The combat is fun and engaging and the inclusion of the feature to allow instant assassinations allow you to focus easier on stealth. The map is also vast with tons of areas with beautiful scenery to explore. The story, however, is incredibly long and stretched way further than it needs to be. Several arcs feel incredibly repititive in story structure and poor pacing affects different storylines in the game. The actual characters are not super interesting despite some solid voice acting. The best being Eivor who still feels a bit bland but still badass. but the side characters fall flat more often than are actually interesting. The game also feels very shallow the further you get into it with side quests that get less and less interesting over the course of the game.

I recommend this game, but perhaps wait for a sale. A solid game built off the same gameplay as the 2018 game with improved combat with the addition of the venom and invisibility powers, a graphical and performance upgrade due to being built for the next-gen systems. The story is decent, not quite as good as 2018, but still solid albeit being extremely short with limited side activities makign the 50 dollar price tag feel a little steep. If you loved fir first game, you will probably enjoy and it was a solid game to satisfy me until Spider-man 2.
