Greetings from Lithuania.
"Tombstone" (1993) is a much known movie by now. It is know because first and the most important thing - this movie is superb. It's also know for terrific performance by Val Kilmer who was snubbed for at least an Oscar nomination back in the day - at least. Because as good as Gene Hackman was in "Unforgiven", the best performance in a supporting role was by Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in my opinion. Others were also great and this movie truly captured that friendship between two main characters. Now it is known that this movie went through 9 circles of hell before it was finally released, with directors switching and etc, and its a true miracle that the final film eventually turned out to be superbly entertaining western.Overall, superbly paced, strongly acted by all involved, with one superb performance, great cinematography and very solid directing, this is a must see western. It's a true classic in many ways.

The character Mickey '2' Stones featured in Ashlan Chidester's the brash and plum:fractal in Selected Works 33 - 43 Horror at Tombstone was based on Curly Bill Brocius and mentions Billy Clanton.

A great cast and good cinematography don't make up for the slow, uneventful story that fails to truly capture what made the events at Tombstone the stuff of legend.

The main selling point is a great cast and cinematogrphy. Narrative is, however, lacking depth and believebility.

Great characters (particularly Doc Holiday and Johnny Ringo), tonnes of quotable dialogue, and righteous fury. The love subplot wasn't great. Definitely worth a watch.

This movie is a rarity because it was so perfectly cast of awesome actors. Val Kilmer should have won an Oscar for playing Doc Holiday and my opinion his best acted movie. Also can not leave out Michael Bein play such an intensity and rageful Johnny Ringo. I have watched it many times and doesn't get old.

Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and Earp's two brothers try early retirement, but can't seem to escape the notoriety of their gunslinging past. Tombstone is a bit on the shallow, simplistic side, but its machismo levels are off the charts and its cast of big personalities are endlessly entertaining, bouncing around and ricocheting off one another like so much careless lead sprayed above the dusty street. Earp gets the marquee treatment, but there's no masking that Holliday is the story's real star. Played with an overdose of charisma by Val Kilmer, Doc is a vastly intriguing character. Damaged both mentally and physically, he spends the entire film in some combination of deep intoxication and sweaty near-death, brought on by the later stages of tuberculosis. Doesn't matter. He still gets the best lines, the most memorable scenes and the densest, most complete individual storyline. A staggering, winking, car-wreck of a man who's simply impossible to look away from, I'd throw Kilmer's Holliday up against any of cinema's all-time greats. The surrounding film is secondary. We get a heavy dose of gunfights, shady characters and gentlemen who look cool in an absurd mustache and a duster, par for the course given the era and genre. But Doc, man, Doc elevates this film from a stylish also-ran to an absolute classic.

Still one of the best Westerns I've ever seen. I feel the testosterone build when I watch this film and WHEW! It's SO good!!

The actors, the story, the **** a spectacular Val Kilmer. And Kurt Russell filling in directorial duties gives it substance. Desers multiple viewings.

Awesome, pulpy western with great and memorable performances. I gotta say the ending and last 20ish minutes are pretty odd and don't match up at all quality wise with the rest of the film.

This is a very good character driven western film. It features a good cast, lots of tense moments, good camerawork/cinematography and decent visual effects. There are plenty of action based scenes - fights/shootouts and the like but there are also scenes inbetween that help show the quieter side to different characters nature. It's a little cheesy but its certainly worth seeing, if your a fan of biopics/character driven westerns, so yes I'd recommend it.

Worst movie in the history of movies. The movie about singing vegetables was better than Tombstone.

This is a masterpiece, and the story behind the making of the film is also fascinating.
Val Kilmer steals the show, and it's on purpose. Still, he put a lot of effort, and made Doc Holliday fascinating to watch.
Highly recommended, even if you're not into westerns.

This along with Unforgiven are the two modern westerns that both reach outstanding heights. Kurt Russell deserves to be recognized for this work along with so many others

Masterpiece. Val Kilmer’s performance is amazing. Every actor is great. Even Charlton Heston makes an appearance.

Stays mostly true to the original story, amazing acting (except for the river scene), and has more than a few hilarious moments. I enjoyed it thoroughly, very good movie.

This movie is vastly underrated. Kilmer's performance as Doc Holliday is arguably the greatest interpretation of a real western character in the the history of western filmmaking. It's not to be missed. If you haven't seen the movie, watch it! Even if you're not a fan of the genre, this is as entertaining as a movie can be. It doesn't matter if this is not an accurate account of these real men and women. Just enjoy the ride. With an all star cast that delivers, this movie turned many folks who never liked westerns into fans of the genre when it was released. The greatest weakness of the movie is also its greatest strength; Kilmer's Holliday (and Bein's Johnny Ringo to an extent) steal the show from Russel's Wyatt Earp who is the main protagonist of the film. Powers Booth and a familiar cast of actors take on the roles of the no good "cowboys". Sam Elliot, Bill Paxton and the rest of the cast deliver. A fantastic interpretation of the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and all the events that lead up to the fight and what may have transpired after. I can't for the life of me figure out how the critic score for this is a 50?
