I really like this fun ride. Okay there are issues with the pacing and the CGI looks very dated but the cast, writing, sets and action make it such a fun film. The sets really are incredible, everything has great scale and looks amazing, so much better than these virtual production studios where the sets are screens with CGI in them. This is the best mummy film that I’ve seen and really enjoyable.

7.5/10 I overall enjoyed what Stephen Sommers did with The Mummy, while some people might find the comedic elements distracting, or even see them as the film weakest aspect, i think they actually help give it a fresh identity as a remake of the 1932 original film. The film also makes great use of the technology available at the time, even though some of the visual effects haven't aged particularly well, others still look impressive and must have been a real achievement back then, definitely added to the freshness of the film. Everything feels bigger here, the story, the action, the overall scope, Brendan Fraser brings a really fun, charismatic energy to the lead role, while Rachel Weisz and the supporting cast do a decent job of keeping things engaging, the pacing is also well structured. What i enjoyed most is how adventurous the whole experience feels, it really captures that Indiana Jones-style vibe, that said, some performances and character decisions don't always land perfectly, and those moments do stand out as flaws. Still, taken as a whole, i found The Mummy to be a very entertaining adventure film, one that embraces its fun, action packed spirit while delivering a memorable, Indiana Jones like experience.

Greetings from Lithuania. "The Mummy" (1999) is a certified adventure films classic at this point in 2026. Watched this movie multiple times back in the day, and rewatching it now in 2026 after many years on 4K UHD disk was a blast. This is a fun, amazingly paced and highly entertaining and rewatchable adventure movie. Two future Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz shine here, and supporting cast is excellent. Sound design, special effects, cinematography, editing, writing and directing are all on point. Music is excellent. This film was heavily influenced by Indiana Jones and that is a good thing. The energy is high here. Overall, "The Mummy" is still a highly entertaining film to watch even in 2026. It blast away nearly every adventure fantasy movie released in last few decades and is a certified classic of its genre in my opinion.

It is an exemplary and typical American adventure film, with many clichés appearing here and there. You can get a glimpse of the misunderstandings and imaginations Americans had about Egypt at the time.

“The Mummy" is one of the greatest adventure movies I have ever watched. It is a movie which I can always watch every day because it will never bore me. The perfect mixture of thrilling action, humor, and fantasy will make it entertaining without **** fact, even today, with all the advanced CGI, the special effects are still pretty impressive. It's really something that brings such timelessness to this **** music score is absolutely beautiful and fitting; it enhances moments of tension, excitement, and even wonder. There is a sense of grandeur and adventure that sets just the right tone for the on-screen **** cast is just phenomenal: the charm of Brendan Fraser, the intelligence and inner strength of Rachel Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo as the hauntingly villainous blend in an acting brew. Each of them brings just a smidgen of magic into the role that adds to the film's **** in all, The Mummy is that great chunk of cinematic adventure standing the test of time, no doubt remaining one of the classics.

It's very entertaining. The action is great. The creatures are just one great aspect. The mummy himself is a good villian. The movie is funny.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this movie on here before yet. I absolutely LOVE this film. It's so well done and it is the perfect blend of Horror, Action, and Comedy. Also, a star-studded cast of characters.

Just rewatched the 25th anniversary release in theaters! Sadly, Hollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore. Love, love, love this movie! Seen it 15+ times and always a great time.

Although it is undoubtedly a film that has become iconic in people's collective memory, The Mummy remains, in my view, analyzing it objectively, a rather mediocre product. Not in the adventure, that's great, but in the staging.

Really good movie. Has some comedy with a Lil bit of horror. Those scrabs are crazy. How they go through people's bodies and kill them.

The superb cinematography, talented cast, memorable soundtrack and intelligent screenplay breathed new life into the once aged franchise. The visual effects stand up surprisingly well in 2022. This is the definition of a summer blockbuster with all the peaks and troughs for a popcorn munching rollercoaster ride. Fantastic!

The Mummy is the most famous adventure film about Egypt and exactly the most iconic role for Brendan Fraser. The first part of the trilogy is obviously the best, it's the most recent idea. And the cast did not pick up bad. One of the best adventure films of the 90s.

The Last Great Adventure Film Don't get me wrong, we have had lots of great movies since '99, but I really feel that this is the last one where it was just 10 for 10 great. And it was a great way to end the 90's, which I still believe to be one of the best movie decades; we knew how to make great movies and we knew how to make great trailers for those great movies--not just rapidly flashing scenes with drums and clashing and building violins, but REAL trailers edited to perfection with great music. "The Mummy" just packs it all; from Adventure to Horror to Fantasy to Drama to Comedy, and in my humble opinion, it succeeds superbly in all five genres. It is just such a FUN movie! The sites (and sights), the sound design, the CGI (while I won't say it's perfect), and, of course, Jerry Goldsmith's masterpiece of a score which can take Alan Silvestri's for "The Mummy Returns" to the cleaners any day of the week. While "The Mummy" was a blockbuster, it is sadly one of those unappreciated movies. Shortly after its release is when movies began to take a turn for the worse and become darker, and for what ever crackbutt reason, darker is what the American Audience wants. Audiences just want movies where everyone dies (a lot of the time including the hero(es)), the music is heavily synthesized, and the plot is simplistic. "The Mummy" is an epic adventure from beginning to end. And I can only hope that our movies return to this movie-type some day soon. While I do like "The Mummy Returns", it was a little too silly for me. And "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor"? No comment. The first one just captures the fun-ness that movies are SUPPOSED to be; a movie that grabs you out of your world so you almost feel as if you're IN the movie (he said, at the risk of sounding either cheezy or loony), very much in the tradition of "Jurassic Park" and its sequel. It's just truly a classic, and will hopefully remain so long enough to see a day when it is appreciated again.

This movie lives from the great visual effects and the story starts interesting, but gets worse later. The big problem of the movie is their stupid humour scenes.

Ridícula y soez de principio a fin, los efectos especiales son bastante buenos, fuera de eso no hay nada mejor que destacar, las actuaciones son terribles, en especial la de Brendan Fraser.

Looking back on this film I'm not sure why it didn't have a better reception. Perhaps it was meant to be darker. Perhaps critics who had seen 1932's the Mummy were disappointed in the direction of the film. I'm not quite sure. I find that many of the complaints from critics were actually the high notes for this movie for me. It terrified me in the theaters as a young child, in my teens I watched it multiple times with various friends, now I watch it at least twice a year and quote it constantly. It's a part of my life and one of the best adventure films every made.

This isn't one of the best movies, but I enjoyed watching it. My only issue with the film is that it tries to be funny even though it isn't. Everything else is great.

In this film, placed in the twenties, an American with a mysterious past will help a British librarian in love with Ancient Egypt to explore an Egyptian ruin, but they end up waking up a mummy that threaten to destroy the world. Few people know that this film is the remake of a classic horror film of 1932, with Boris Karloff in the role of the mummy. The film is directed by Stephen Sommers, who also wrote the script along with Lloyd Fonvielle. It has the participation of Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Arnold Vosloo. The mummies and their curses are part of movie horror paraphernalia since the dawn of cinema, but were eventually pushed aside for decades. This film, though not of terror but of adventure, made a redemption of these elements and brought again the mummies to the cinema. And there are hundreds of them. The film is excellent, it's very fun, has no dead moments and makes an intelligent use of the mysteries of Egyptian civilization to thicken the suspense in the plot, that is lightened by several moments of humor. The performance of the cast was also very good and the soundtrack, although not particularly surprising or memorable, do very well her role. The special effects and makeup deserves a special positive mention, as well as computerization and digital resources, because they knew perfectly how to enrich the film without dominating the attentions. This film is funny, smart without becoming inaccessible to the general public, and has suspense and some strong scenes, without being too strong for kids. So, it's a great family film, suitable for almost all ages and to see in almost any situation.

The typical 90s action-adventure, with Brendan Fraser as the poundshop Leo DiCaprio. From the outset, you can tell The Mummy isn't going to take itself too seriously; and while a scarce handful of the jokes might work, its attempts at being frightening or exciting just don't, thanks to the unintentionally comic appearance of the bug-eyed mummy. Overall, it's far too long and not interesting.

This movie came out so long ago, that I had forgotten how much fun it actually is. The acting is great, the action scenes were well made, the story was interesting and the movie was a lot of fun. Despite the dated CGI effects and the failed comedy moments, it's still a pretty good movie.
