Nope is a strange film, but in the best possible way. Jordan Peele takes a story built around an inexplicable threat, mixes it with suspense, horror, western elements and spectacle, and manages to make looking at the sky feel less beautiful than unsettling. That alone is quite an achievement. The film is entertaining, tense and full of images that stay in your head after watching **** best thing is that it does not work only because of the mystery. It has strong characters, a very well-built atmosphere and a way of handling suspense that recalls a kind of cinema where what you do not see can be almost as powerful as what appears on screen. There are moments of real tension, stranger moments, even some funny ones, and the film maintains a constant feeling of threat without needing to explain everything from the beginning.Daniel Kaluuya is especially good. His character could seem dry or too restrained, but that is exactly where his strength lies. He does not need big gestures to convey fear, exhaustion, pride or mistrust. He has a powerful silent presence, and that fits perfectly with a film that often works better when it observes than when it speaks. Keke Palmer also brings energy and contrast, and together they give the story a more human center.Visually, Nope has some very strong moments. The open landscape, the horses, the dust, the huge sky and that feeling of something inexplicable hanging over everything turn the film into more than just a horror or suspense story. There is adventure, nightmare and classic spectacle here, but filtered through a modern and very personal eye. Peele knows how to create memorable images, and this film has several of **** is also true that the film does not always fit all its ideas together with the same clarity. At times, it seems to want to talk about too many things at once: trauma, exploitation, the obsession with watching, spectacle, Hollywood, animals, fame. All of that gives the film richness, but it also makes some parts feel more scattered. The final stretch has visual power, although it may not resolve all its emotions and ideas with the same intensity with which it sets them up.Even so, Nope is a very stimulating film. It has tension, suspense, good actors, memorable characters and a personality that feels very welcome in modern fantasy cinema. It may be somewhat uneven, and it may leave some threads hanging, but it never feels like a factory-made movie. It is entertaining, unsettling, visually powerful and far more original than usual.

A relatively novel spin on the “UFO” genre that unfortunately lacks forward momentum for large chunks of its run time.

"A terrifying and beautiful spectacle that proves Jordan Peele is a master of modern horror."

Nope was an excellent film. I appreciated how Jordan Peele highlighted the existence of Black cowboys, a reality that often seems overlooked or forgotten. The movie blended suspenseful jump scares with well-timed comedic moments, which made it engaging and enjoyable.Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, and the rest of the cast delivered outstanding performances. While I personally would have preferred a stronger emphasis on horror, the film is filled with gripping suspense. Overall, I highly recommend watching it.

Jordan Peele keeps at it, but his film feels like a messy, aimless **** creature design is cool, sure, but the story drags, the characters are hollow, and the symbolism is so heavy-handed it kills all **** film tries to be profound about spectacle and trauma but ends up coming off as pretentious and incoherent.I struggled to care about anything on screen. Honestly, one star is already too generous — and for me, it’s a definite Nope.

Isn’t it odd that we’ve never managed to capture definitive visual proof of extraterrestrial life? Especially now, with a decade of portable, internet-connected, high-resolution personal cameras under our belt? The romance of a UFO chase is still very much alive - no shortage of seekers out there with their eyes on the sky - but still the photographic evidence remains elusive. That’s the conceit behind Jordan Peele’s latest, Nope, which aims to outline the circumstances that might allow the dream of first contact to coexist with the reality of such a closely-observed world. Set in the vast desert isolation just beyond Los Angeles, Nope draws great dramatic tension from the smothering, lonely stillness of the ranch. Alongside a small cast, we witness strange, recurring phenomena and feel the hair on our arms rise. At its best when toying with the same brand of subtle eeriness found in Signs and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, it leaves plenty to the imagination while still showing us more than we might have expected. There’s some loose meta commentary here, too - I’d expect as much from Peele - but it’s less overt and essential than it was in Get Out. That shift may have been a mistake. Though the 2022 model boasts potent ambiance and a knack for well-timed suspense, I found the meat of the story to be rather lean. It’s creepy, it’s moody, it’s visually powerful. That’s really where it all begins and ends.

Not your standard cookie cutter movie. An interesting premise that fails to stick the landing. Runs a bit to long.

Jordan Peele is, amongst other things, a master of delivering haunting and curious images. For that aspect alone, Nope is his visual opus, even if it doesn't have the spark and cohesive satire of Get Out, it exceeds far beyond the messy, rushed and confused sophomore entry Us. Peele's films have other strengths; they're exceedingly human and nuanced; they have great dialogue and they unfold neatly and layers upon layers reveal and coalesce. The disparate elements don't always gel, but it's cinema at its best when they do.Kaluuya and Palmer are a perfect duo and there's a decent chunk of comedy and black comedy in their performances. Nope is slow, haunting, surprising with clever use of music, character backgrounds and costume and design work. It's solid with some fine IMAX photography and a nice take on the genre.

Boring snoozefest. No stand out performances, thematically dull, visually bland. Nothing.

I liked the originality of the antagonist. I liked the chimp story. The acting was decent enough. But, horror? And the film made me not care about what was happening to anyone. Little suspense. An ok film !

Easily his best, and toppled Signs as my favorite "UFO" movie. Looooved the ending. If I had to ding it on something, it would be that I thought it was maybe 15 minutes too long.

All I like about this movie is the camera work. Hiring one of the best cinematographers to shoot a movie that is so weak is too much for my money.

Nope may never come close to reaching the heights of Get Out or Us, but it's still a well thought-out, original, and beautifully executed horror film by Jordan Peele.

Story was OK. Pokemon evolution was a bit much but it was pretty. This is a run of the mill movie. Not scary but can be fun. OK acting. All in all midrange scifi movie.

Ambitious in genre bending and storytelling. Tends to meander and lacks a real punch. Beautifully shot, directed and edited. Keke Palmer is fantastic and brings a lot of energy and life into the film. Jordan Peele is a true talent, but this movie comes up empty in places in narrative and especially the climax. Original effort, Spielberg-like Sci-Fi/Adventure scale and Shamalan-like horror ambition. Doesn't completely miss the mark but doesn't fully deliver either. One of the worst films I've seen in a while. Too many plot holes to count and the pacing of a snail. Even the Cloverfield series did a better job handling this material. Daniel Kaluuya phones in his performance with a series of grunts and stares. Keke Palmer is so over the top you'd think you were watching a Disney show or something. All other characters were incredibly one dimensional and forgettable. This film did answer a question I've had since Get Out. Does Jordan Peele just take his old comedy sketches and rewrite them as horror.... Yes. Some work (Us, Get Out) and some flop. One point for cinematography.

I expected a lot from this movie being from Jordan Peele. The course of the film seemed very tedious to me, and a bit complicated to understand, The handling of the suspense is not the best and you feel that this movie can be much better but it fails to exceed expectations. The only thing that I rescue from this film is the visual section, it has a very good cinematography.

This movie is an example of why Jordan Peele deserves the success he is now.

Being a fan of both 'Us' and 'Get Out', I was very disappointed with 'Nope' after finally watching it recently. For starters, the total runtime should have been cut down by 40 minutes being that it is a 2 hour movie. I found myself extremely bored most of the time but I ended up pushing forward to see who the antagonist is at the end. I was also curious to see why Daniel Kaluuya was looking 'up' in the movie cover photo and my theory was actually correct after barely making it to the final part of the film. 'Nope' did not capture my attention like 'Us' and 'Get Out' did so I will have to give this film a solid 'Nope'.

Peele certainly knows how to make an intriguing and suspenseful terror/horror movie, and that continues here but with a sci-fi twist.

- great atmosphere
- intriguing mystery
- beautiful cinematography - the sound design!
- I could watch those characters easily for another hour or so
- When was the last time you could talk about a mainstream movie afterwards?

Terrible acting and writing. Just another bit of racist filth that has no place in American cinema.

The movie gets progressively better as it goes, but unfortunately first viewers have to suffer through some of the most insufferable cinema since Shyamalan's 'The Happening' I can't imagine the logic of casting Keke Palmer or allowing her to speak in general, but she makes this movie a torture. Even worse, she's only the worst of a number of characters who will make you wish cinema never existed

I was expecting a lot more from this movie. A strange tale about a movie animal wrangler, his ranch, and a neighbor with a weird past.

Jordan Peele has the distinction of being a rare director that shows us horror hiding in plain sight, just outside our peripheral vision, showing itself when it is too late. His works rival other horror directors, except that Peele busts open genres with mind-bending concepts. Nope is no different, the reveal of the antagonist is utterly shocking and out of this world. You will never see it coming. Daniel Kaluuya delivers once again as the muse of Peele, playing a steady methodical character making sense of out of the senseless. Keke Palmer steals scenes with her fierce energy and quick thinking. This brother-sister duo carries the movie effortlessly. No matter how alien a thing is, it must follow logical rules, animal instincts and programmed behaviours. The best way to defeat an enemy is to understand it. Nope is a great horror movie with a massive payoff.

Made in 2022, it is a movie that contains suspense, horror and sci-fi elements. Yes, there is a lot of nonsense. Yes, the element of fear is almost absent. But the movie is watched with interest. I can't say I was bored for 2 hours. But I can say that it ended with a very funny finale. At first, I thought that the monkey at the beginning of the movie was killing people as aliens brutalizing animals, but it turned out it had nothing to do with it. But really the most impressive scene was the monkey scene. And when I thought the red balloon was a human head, I thought it was more scary. It was nice to have the cloud still. I wish they hadn't opened that flying creature like a torn curtain. The movie can be enjoyed with the family. There are no nudity or sexually explicit scenes in the movie.

Should be appreciated on the biggest screen possible. A real cinema experience. Peele’s NOPE is like A. Night Shamalyan’s Unbreakable- at his best that is - wonderfully atmospheric, grandiose cinematography and superb pacing. I loved it.

It's interesting that many Jordan Peele fans are calling this his worst movie, I seem to be in the complete opposite camp. I'm not a Jordan Peele fan, really disliked "Get Out" and skipped "US" completely because it looked like more modern day woke racist bs that his first movie was. However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't somewhat enjoy Nope. I plan on giving it a rewatch at some point but on first viewing I'd give it a 6.5, maybe even a 7. It's easily a better shot and written movie than "Get Out", and other than a select few lines from the sister character in the beginning, race isn't focused on much in the movie. Maybe there is some underlying esoteric theme or subliminal message about race that Peele always seems to try and force in, but on first watch I'm not really picking up on anything like that.

Ehh this was so far the worst of Peele's movies as the whole alien vibe, while at first being interesting, being some weird creature there, ehh. I don't know if the creature was too weird or what but yeah, while I like his work, this was average and not very memorable for me.

Y'all have GOT to be kidding with this. Two hours, completely wasted. The actors mumble through 80% of the dialog. Jordan Peele is overrated.

Started off weirdly interesting and then you realize your in a Jordan peele movie and everyone wanted out lol such a shame peele took what Chappell show had, made it lame but still kinda funny, that was his peak talent unfortunately, every movie he seems to make is racist or just dumb. Almost like he's making movies just because he can..

Entertaining sci-fi adventure / mild horror movie. Love how Jordan Peele shoots the scenes and does the setup of the stories. The trailer and setup make it feel a LOT scarier than the movie ends up being. Still entertaining and creative, just somehow also a little disappointing.

Minus the stunning cinematography as well as the score, the movie does not have much to offer, either script-wise or performative.

Two brothers who run a horse farm in California discover something wondrous and sinister in the skies, and the owner of an adjacent theme park seeks to cash in on the mysterious otherworldly phenomenon.
This film seen in theaters is a magnificent experience. A film that through Peele's classic political-satirical style is a strong critique of the unhealthy relationship between man and nature where the former arrogantly tries to subjugate the latter.
The film is full of tension and Peele offers wonderful camera movements that bring to mind the best works of Spielberg, Kubrick and Carpenter. The references to Spielberg's "Jaws" and Carpenter's "The Thing" are very clear.
The lateral tracking shots (for example those where he frames the stable and the house) bring to mind Hitchcock works while the blood flow on the house brings to mind Kubrick ones (The Shining).
A film that is complex and layered and needs multiple viewings to be understood and digested.
