The twists and pedestrian dramatics are a stiff slog to get to, and Gordon-Levitt’s once innate charisma has vanished altogether here.

Just an entertaining short movie, it’s not something you’ll be blown away by but knows what it’s trying to do and does it well. Simple laid back mystery film.

Film noir set in Greece is a star vehicle for Levitt and Woodley, who apparently starred together many years ago. A great little pot boiler, and seems one of those flicks that Prime specialized in.

The family intrigues don’t amount to much, and Nick’s “secret” — the thing that has him sneaking sips from bottles all over the island — is even less original.

A dull and predictable sunshine noir that wastes the time of those involved as well as ours.

I am a **** for a Noir film. I cannot help it. This is predictable and sometimes cliche, but I love it. It is well acted and has heart. I would say its average at best for people who do not love noir detective films like I do. But I will accept some plotholes in favor of enjoying this movie.

Some hilariously poor neo-noir detective narration that really take you out of it. The script is bad, its like a below average weekly serialized PI plot.

With the jaunty hat and laid-back attitude, it feels like Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to be the latest detective in a noir thriller. Despite his assured style, this mystery lacks much of its own. After the death of a twin brother (both played by Richard Madden), our PI is hired to find out whodunit by the ex-wife (Shailene Woodley). As expected, Gordon-Levitt's character has issues that haunt him, but that's just another trite genre element in a movie that's full of them. There's only one short, mild action scene, leaving the rest of the time to dramatic encounters with various characters. The performances from this accomplished cast are solid, but there's nothing about the writing or direction that makes this in any way unique…or for that matter, interesting. Even Gordon-Levitt's potential charms aren't sufficient to keep this "Killer" from quickly dying.
