Dark and flat humor is good and hard to mess up, but the directors have done a great job of making flat jokes literally flat.

I have waited since the 90s for this to make it and the part that Ryan Reynolds was born to play has finally made my wish come true! Long Live X-Force, New Mutants, X-merc-with-a-mouth!

Deadpool was the first big budget R rated movie to come along in a very, very long time and one that Fox didn't seem to determined to get behind. That changed after a trailer "leaked" and the fandom went insane at the possibility of a Deadpool film being done right. It isn't a perfect film by any means and stands alone from the rest of the series for the most part. It also undoes some of the retcons done in Days of Future past, but overall is a really entertaining film.

Very fun movie, full of jokes and violence. Deadpool is in his element, while more tragic events also occur. Its story is pretty good, it is a great mixture of silly violence with seriousness. It's very memorable, and depicts the character perfectly.

In my opinion deadpool is an amazing film. I love that they casted Ryan reynolds as the leading character.

Deadpool is one of the first R-rated action comedy movies of its kind and it that sense it is unique. The dialogues felt forced and out of place at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Some of the real life references are pretty wild. The villains are competent and pretty well-written. Deadpool is a cool character who is in some ways relatable, but he is also weird, which makes him funnier. The humour is unique and good. The direction is great with a consistent, dark-comedic tone. The cinematography is pretty mid with some well-lit scenes, but other than that it doesn't offer too much. Although the editing is fantastic. The way they cut between the car-shootout sequence and the events leading to that reminds the audience there are actually two timelines. The soundtrack is awesome and the cast is great. The performances are good, Ryan Reynolds surprised me with his range. The visual effects rely on CGI, but the slow motion stuff and the grounded, nasty action looks great. Unlike the wide shots like the very last shot of the film. Deadpool is great and unique, although I do think it's overhyped.

You know, I realized on this viewing of Deadpool that maybe too much of this humor isn't a good thing.

Deadpool has certainly got a lot of charm, character, personality and you name it as it cooks up a lot of deadly stove action.

A near-perfect adaptation. Funny, irreverent, action-packed. Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast. All style, no substance, doesn't matter - highly entertaining regardless.

Just the kind of fresh blood this genre needed. Superhero films (and modern pop culture at large, really) have been ripe for satire for some time now, and Deadpool is a great vehicle for bringing that about without feeling disingenuous or trashing the original character along the way. The first hour is basically one long dose of fan service, sharp and egregious with both wit and weaponry. The seams show through in a lot of the CGI, but that just plays into the act and, in a way, adds to the film's clunky, DIY charm. Ryan Reynolds is really what makes the whole thing work, both on-screen and off, as he occupies the character with uncanny zeal and was instrumental in bringing the mercenary back from Xavier's junkyard. We stop short of the unhinged, deranged depths of disconnected insanity that typify Deadpool's comic book act, and the closing act / happy ending feels force-fed, but that seems like a small price to pay. Otherwise, it's effective at becoming what it set out to be: a chaotic, gratuitous, shoot-from-the-hip misadventure that blows stuff up, decapitates bad guys and takes every opportunity to squeeze in a literal wink and nod at the viewing audience. I had a ball. Updated thoughts after a 2023 re-watch: Man, back in 2016 the comic scene was starved for a good Deadpool adaptation. This release nailed most every bit of it, from the wacky off-color physical gags to the abundant violence and profanity to the constant disconnects from reality and playful ongoing dialogue with the audience. Seven years ago, it felt fresh and cutting-edge, blasting away the preconceived notions that every superhero movie had to be a by-the-numbers spandex splash while feeding the nerds with cinematic junk food. Revisiting it today, some of that shine has worn off, but it’s still a raunchy good time. Ryan Reynolds hits a grand slam in the leading role, an obvious labor of love, and he’s effectively surrounded by timely Easter eggs and crafty visual gags, but the plot is more formulaic than I first realized and its resolution feels like a sorely out-of-place studio mandate. “You can have your fun for sixty minutes, but the last twenty belong to us.” Bad luck with the **** batting average, too: the cast features both TJ Miller and Gina Carano in major roles. They’re well-suited to the parts and do good work, but I’ll be amazed if we see them in the upcoming three-duel. Downgraded from an 8 to a 7.

This film is a work of art! Cool fight scenes, incredible references and most importantly: very funny! Deadpool 1 is an excellent action and comedy film, Ryan Reynolds did very well in the role. I just didn't like the villain very much, I found him unremarkable.

I love it, one of my favorite super hero sagas of all time, i didn't know this hero/antihero before this movie and it was a great introduction to it

this movie is reliant on cameos. it’s like a porn video for nerds. The plot is **** and makes no sense but it doesn’t matter because you are there for the sex (cameos)

Really lackluster story that doesn't offer much as far as a "good superhero movie" goes. However, the comedy aspect is absolutely there and Ryan Reynold's performance is incredible and that is all you need to make this movie worth seeing.

Wunderbar! Die Erwartungen übertroffen! Eine Hommage an die Fans, gleichzeitig witzig und unterhaltsam. Das gesamte Kino hat mitgelacht und es war mal wieder und endlich ein guter Marvelfilm nach all den Enttäuschungen.

It occurred to me that I could not recall anything about the previous two movies although I’m convinced I must have seen them when they were released. As I plan to see Deadpool & Wolverine when released I thought it made sense to remind myself of the backstory. Glad I did. It was all new to me and I enjoyed it. Will watch Deadpool 2 later in the week and I’m sure the work I’ve put in will make my understanding and enjoyment of the third even better.

Deadpool is good, R-rated fun that was much more delightful than it needed to be. It had fun with fourth wall breaking scenes, and has a surprising amount of charm due to the fourth wall being broken and the perfectly cast Ryan Reynolds just going with it in the lead role. In conclusion, this is one of the best, funniest, unique Marvel superhero movies I've ever seen.

The faithful adaptation of Deadpool that fans have been screaming for since his character was butchered in the earlier X-Men films. Ryan Reynolds has such a love for the character that is evident in his performance, he certainly understands what it is that makes Deadpool tick. Which Deadpool's brand of humor is not for everyone, I for one find it can be incredibly grating, this a facet of personal taste and not a slight on the movie, which definitely plays into it as a core aspect of Deadpool's character. As for its plot and other characters, they are mostly overshadowed by Reynolds as its main star, the villain isn't that memorable, a lot of its other aspects seem rushed or forced... it isn't a perfect movie, but certainly is bombastically violent, action-packed, and above all - true to Deadpool.

Awesome movie. I could have lived without the play by play commentary from him. Like he say's people have tried to shut him up.

Ryan Reynolds, who is proficient in his own language of profane words, does a good job as the Merc with a Mouth. The fact that this film is a love tale presented as a very dirty action film is refreshing. The sex scenes are humorous, the battle scenes (slo-mo notwithstanding) are fairly amazing, and it's a breath of new air for genre-weary viewers.

This movie is everything a fan would want to see, because Deadpool is basically that. A badass who continuously breaks the fourth wall, with grotesque jokes and Rated-R scenes. When the characters are not distorted, the results are seen. And it's ultimately the most coherent summary for the Deadpool movie.

This movie is spectacular in superhero movies outside of Avenger movies, it has the fighting and comedy that is not for everyone but for anyone who is okay with over the top comedy. Ryan Reynolds is gold in this as Deadpool.

Funny, entertaining, and refreshing !! The first thing I noticed was how inventive the storytelling is. The film throws you into the action from the first moment (literally: the very first moment) and then it goes back and forth in brilliant and unexpected ways to slowly unspool the story of this insane - but oddly charming - antihero. Flashbacks and fast-forwards can be annoying as hell, but when done right, they can help render even a somewhat simple story fresh and exciting. And that's exactly how Deadpool felt to me right from the start: like a fresh (if somewhat dirty) jolt of energy. The action itself is beautifully designed, employing playful visuals and using pretty much every camera technique available; it never feels repetitive and the pacing is close to perfection. But, and that was probably the key to me liking the film so much, there's a beating heart underneath all the action and carnage, and that has a lot to do with how brilliantly Ryan Reynolds portrays the character and the great chemistry he has with co-star Morena Baccarin. What came as a complete surprise to me was how unabashedly romantic Deadpool is. The love story in this film is probably the most sincere I've ever seen in a superhero movie and it gives the film a strong emotional core which so many of these movies lack. The humor, which I initially feared would just be non-stop juvenile wisecracks and soon become distracting, also works surprisingly well. Not every line or every joke lands - but that's the beauty of this character: they don't really need to. Deadpool can't help himself; as long as he's able to breathe he'll crack wise and make fun of himself and those around him. It's a clinical condition; he's not a stand-up comedian whose jokes need to land: he's a madman (albeit a very entertaining one) and the comedy in his case is born out of tragedy. Yes, This is what it looks like when filmmakers take risks!!

This Deadpool movie gets everything right. We get finally the “Merc with a Mouth”, hugely entertaining humor, 4th wall breaks and an entertaining story that takes itself not too serious. Also the rest of the cast is excellent and I don't want to replace anyone. Lets start with the beginning. The Deadpool character is a fan favorite. He is unconventional, entertaining and self aware 4th wall breaking. Deadpool can be or is a mixture of hero, antihero, villain and comic relief. In the right hands the character is pure comedic gold but can have also good serious tones and problems. When we got Deadpools first appearance in “X-Men Origins Wolverine” (played by Ryan Reynolds too) we all were shocked. The character was not even in name only like Deadpool and a universal disappointment. So we were skeptic when the Deadpool movie was announced. However all our fears were pointless. Ryan Reynolds fully delivered and the writers / director nailed everything. It is what we wanted. A humorous ride with lovable characters, good action and lots of fan service. The characters are another strength. I already praised Ryan Reynolds so lets go to the others. Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano who I am huge fan of, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams and Karan Soni are excellent. I think there was no bad performance. The humor is as expected, dark, satirical, self aware and respectless. It works really well. Overall this is a 10/10. Maybe it is a bit weaker but they put so much effort in this movie that a lower rating feels wrong. I recommend the movie for the humor, style and characters.

I've got to say, even though I liked the movie, I am slightly disappointed. Overall I'd say that it's enjoyable but it lacks focus, there are so many flashbacks, and the pacing is weird. The best thing about the movie is the action and the fight scenes, which are great. Still, it's a decent movie and fun to watch but nothing more.

When audiences were at their peak of superhero fatigue and oversaturation, Deadpool hit like a breath of fresh air. This heavy R-rated superhero movie takes the piss out of superhero movies with clever, biting satire. While not every joke lands, there are so many that the ones that do are filled with big laughs, and the love for this character by everyone involved in the production shines through.

Of all superhero movies I have seen this is hands down the best. Ryan Reynolds is the perfect pick for actor in this movie. Every part of this movie clicks right in line with how you would imagine Deadpool to be in real life if there was a person who existed in real life. This movie absolutely stands out in a genre that has and will continue to become overcrowded. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie and then watch it again.

Extremely tedious and unfunny. Poorly write story and the most unlikable main character possible make this excuse for a movie one of the most annoying experiences ever.

I had never seen or heard about Deadpool before the movie was announced. I later got to know there was a game on this too, but I thought it must be just any regular superhero game like the non-Rocksteady, non-Insomniac ones. When I read the reviews of the movie that said it's outrageously hilarious, I thought it's because American humour is very bad so even mediocre jokes are funny to them. Also it was 2016 so "abusing funny" was something on a rise (AIB, TVF, BB Ki Vines, CarryMinati etc). Thus I completely ignored this movie. As such I wasn't into superhero stuff so I wasn't even gonna notice it anyway. Then one day we were going on a trip so I saw this movie in a flight. And now I simply love it. Deadpool was the first X-Men movie I ever watched from beginning to end. I didn't even know anything about the X-Men franchise. And it's a good thing this movie barely borrows anything from its predecessor. There are only easter eggs spread here and there. It's all clarified by Deadpool himself when he asks Colossus where everyone is at Xavier's School. Colossus says they are all out on a vacation, to which Deadpool replies it's a lie, and that they are not here because this is a low budget movie. By just mentioning that dialogue it makes it very clear what kind of a sense of humour this movie has. Deadpool continuously breaks the fourth wall. He talks to the audience, mentions that this is just a movie, references Ryan Reynolds' previous movies like Green Lantern (please don't make my costume green, or animated!) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He even roasts himself in a scene after his face gets disfigured, where he says that only good looking people have a chance in this world, for example Ryan Reynolds is famous only because of his good looks and not because of his acting. There's also a scene where he breaks a fourth wall and gives a flashback and then breaks the fourth wall in that also, so he says he broke the sixteenth wall. The sense of humour of every character is intense. Dopindar kidnaps his cousin Bandhu so that he can marry Gita, which he had done on Deadpool's suggestion. The scene where Deadpool forgets his weapons in Dopindar's car almost made me fall from my seat laughing. There was also Colossus who was a stooge the whole time, and Negasonic who mostly completed the jokes. Same goes for Ajax and Vanessa also. The action scenes are also very well choreographed. For some reason it's so much fun to see Deadpool fight. It was easily better than any superhero action that has been shown in any X-Men movie (other than the Quicksilver ones). In the beginning it was so funny when he shows the drawing of Francis to everyone and asks them if they have seen him. I really liked that part where he had numbered all his bullets and shoots one guy who runs out of bullets. The story is also very good. The way of narrating it is something only suitable for a Deadpool movie. It gives the complete origin story of Deadpool and also fills in with comic relief over the otherwise grim story. There is also a heavy amount of character development, as Wade Wilson goes from being a carefree guy to having to leave Vanessa after he got cancer, and then trying to get back to her but thinking she will be horrified to see him, and then finally accepting who he is. Personally Deadpool is one of my favourite superhero movies. It was my favourite back when I saw it, but now things are different because, you know, I saw the sequel. I'd surely recommend anyone to watch it even if they know nothing about the X-Men movies.
