Instead of employing trivial jump scare tactics, Visage expertly toys with your senses and messes with your head, first causing uneasiness, and then evoking authentic fear. There’s no reason to weep for the cancelled Silent Hills anymore. We’ve got Visage, the best horror game of the year, maybe even the best in years. [13/2020, p.51]

Visage is close to being of the best horror games of recent years, but it's held back by some annoying aspects. The inventory controls are awkward, there were still a few bugs that prevented me from interacting with the environment, and the chapters are far too uneven, with the third being particularly bad. That being said, if you are prepared to work through these issues there is a lot of spooky fun to be found here and it is more than just jump scares for streamers (although there are plenty of those). With a little more polish and a better third chapter, this could have been an essential purchase. Instead, Visage is somewhat haunted by the spectre of what might have been.

Visage drapes over you like some ghastly blanket, smothering you with unsettling ambiance and high-quality scares. Though it fumbles a certain stretch of gameplay, its otherwise meticulously designed structure, head-scratching puzzles, and creative manipulation of level design more than pick up any slack.

good game overall, but lack of help/tips is annoying. walking around and around completely lost is boring. some puzzles are a joke, i never figured out if wasnt by youtube tips. scare scale i would say 7/10

Too many puzzles and not enough horror!
The puzzles in this game aren’t really about solving — they’re more about searching. It takes an annoyingly long time to figure out what the next step is and how to use which item.
The character moves very slowly, and you end up spending most of your time just walking from point A to point B, interacting with every object that crosses your path.
I usually enjoy puzzle horror games, but this one just feels too drawn out for me.

Visage is quite possibly the most oppressive experience we've had since Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The variety of gameplay and terrifying set pieces make this surreal nightmare of human psyche and things lurking in the dark, a must play.

The most excellent horrible game in recent years!!Because I am chinese,I use Chinese to describe in the following review.
极度烧脑的解谜,阴间到炸的恐怖,灵异,黑暗,对观察力,记忆力,推理力有极高要求(当然还有胆量:D)。我心目中无敌完美的神作!!

Visage is a game survival horror fans must experience for themselves at least once to fully appreciate, even with its flaws. Watching the game through the eyes of a streamer simply does not compare to the masterful way it manipulates its players emotions and tension levels. Visage is not just another edgy PT wannabe, and if players can get past the controls and be patient with the puzzles, they're in for a genuinely frightening ride.

Visage is one of the most terrifying games I’ve ever played, full stop, but it’s not going to be for all horror fans. The game’s perplexing puzzles, convoluted story, and rough edges will turn off some, but if you can stick it out, there’s a good chance it will eventually sink its hooks into you. Good horror can take time to process, and I believe Visage’s dark presence will only grow with time.

Jeu immersif très qualitatif , l’horreur psychologique très très bien réalisée, en revanche une gestion de l’inventaire assez fastidieuse .
Très bonne expérience, à ne pas mettre entre toutes les mains!

This is basically "P.T." if it were a full blown game. Set in a big empty haunted house, "Visage" looks fantastic and can be truly creepy. However, the gameplay can be a real chore. Unlike "Silent Hill" or "Amnesia", there is no general sense of direction. You never really know what you're supposed to do. Players that don't have much patience will be more frustrated or bored than scared. In a sense, the game is one big puzzle. You have to search rooms to find a key item that is needed to progress. However, the game doesn't tell you what you're looking for or what to do with it. Overall, "Visage" is challenging like a really big puzzle. It can be time consuming, but if you can figure it out, you'll be treated to some truly great horror moments. Overall, I would rate this with a 7.4 out of 10.

Unplayable without a guide. You can't stay in the dark or you'll go crazy. The game often doesn't provide you with lighters or candles and so you find yourself with a black screen, without knowing where to go and waiting for the game over. The puzzles are fine, but navigating the environments is forcedly difficult: the layout of the house changes continuously and there is no map. A title made to make you suffer, get angry and with artificial difficulty. Unless you want to play it with a YouTube walkthrough open on the second screen to understand what you have to do, go somewhere else. It's a shame, because the graphics and settings are very beautiful.
SummaryVisage is a first-person psychological horror game. Explore a mysterious ever-changing house in a slow-paced, atmospheric world that combines both uncannily comforting and horrifyingly realistic environments, and enjoy a genuinely terrifying experience.
