Don’t let the title fool you. For something called The Survivalists, the game’s survival-related mechanics are shockingly lenient. The only aspect you need to pay constant attention to is hunger, but there’s plenty of food. Low overall difficulty level doesn’t have to be a flaw though. If Don’t Starve Together is too stressful for you and your friends, The Survivalists might be a great choice for co-op. [13/2020, p.66]
While not difficult, The survivalists hooked me in with its take on the survival genre and the creative use of the local monkey population to help me survive.
The Survivalists is a survival game that's surprisingly accessible and fun.

The ending for this game is so terrible it made me regret ever playing it and now I want to actively keep people away from wasting their time on **** start off stranded on a deserted island trying to find a way off. Throughout the game you rescue some monkeys who despite being helpful and resourceful during the game only end up betraying you when you are about to complete the game and escape. In other words, you have a ton of grinding and resource gathering and in the end it all is worthless because you end up right back where you started having wasted the whole time from playing. Why did the developers think that ending was a good idea?! It is like they just want to flip a middle finger to the players. This is the first time a game has actually sickened me. To the developers, imagine you had made this game and then all your data was deleted and hard drives destroyed, all the effort you put into it was wasted, well this game treats the players the exact same way having them put in time and effort for an outcome only to tell them it was worthless. So congrats if your goal was to create the most worthless possible gaming experience then I guess you have succeeded.

The game is nice. But kinda broken and gets boring fast. The whole lava land is broken. Temples are boring.

Starts poorly but ends greatly! The problem with The Survivalists is that it’s so “free” early on that you either make many mistakes or make progress on useless stuff — making you feel absolutely stuck. But if you manage to find out the solutions to these early problems*, you will have LOTS of fun in a sandbox full of challenges and exciting discoveries. You just need a bit of patience to get there! *The biggest early-game problem I’ve found is about Metal Ingots, which everyone claims to be in the second island. The problem is that the second island, from your perspective, could be any island so you may end up in the wrong place! Solution: if you end up in the wrong place, look for Frabbit — a fleeting shiny fox. He’ll drop metal and many other rare items you need to make progress early on!

Team17 have done it again with another endearingly designed, vastly comprehensive fun experience. The Survivalists is one of the best crafting games that I have played and one of my favourite games of the year.

The Survivalists is a fun survival sandbox which can be played both as an arcade adventure, hunting for every treasure and secret hidden around the island, and with a more casual approach by trying to just build some kind of boat and leave. Plenty of situations to face, a huge amount of structures, artifacts and recipes to unlock and experiment with. Each run will be an unique adventure. Monkey training is the icing on the cake. Pretty, fast and responsive, it will keep you in front of the screen for a long time.

This game is worth your time if you like survival games, dungeon crawlers or even just a chill game like **** valley. The art style and sound track are amazing and beautiful. Gameplay loop is fun and addictive, The only negatives i have are so insignificant the positives outweigh them. I highly recommend you pick game up!

The new title from infamous Team17 is an standard survival game that manages to entertain, even though it cannot add anything new to the genre.
