While it was difficult to imagine how Nintendo could top previous 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Odyssey is nigh-on perfect in almost every way. With the help of Cappy, Mario has never been as fun to control, reaching new heights and, in the hands of a skilled player, accomplishing impossible skips. You need only pick up a controller to see why this is the best modern Mario game ever.

The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage. Super Mario Odyssey draws inspiration from the superb classic to top it and everything that came after it. [13/2017, p.38]

Perhaps no past Mario game has ever elicited so many smiles as this, and even if every other winning aspect of its design were set aside, that reality alone would make it a masterpiece. [Issue #31 – January/February 2018, p. 39E]

One day, I was playing this game and my sister walked into the room. She looked at me and asked: "Why are you smiling?". It was only then that I realized that I was smiling. That's what this game does to you. Masterpiece.

I very much like how Mario moves in this game, the bosses are cool mostly, the cutscenes look fresh, there is an active progress in story, and all in all I like the ideas with the cap. However... I can't bring myself to like this game in the end. And I rly tried. A lot of the worlds you can visit feel average. There's two or three I like a lot.... but out of 14 I think?! So most of the time I had to force myself to play the game a bit. A lot of the moons in the world are repetitive. Every world has a coin-moon, one costume-one, one mountain-climber-toad-one, one scarecrow-one, one clef-one, one in a 2d-level......... and a lot of moons are basically given to you for free. And the rest of the moons feel like micro-interactions but very very rarely they rly unfold a story. Furthermore the camera **** ass. It's cinematic which was never the case nor necessary in a mario game. You pretty much miss out on moons cos of the set camera angle. And the cinematic element makes the camera very slow if you want to move it. It's a pain... so imo, the game lacks the freedom to move and look around. Maybe as a closing point (only a minor one): I don't know why....... I've seen it in Super Mario Party. But why have texts/text boxes and backgrounds turned into vanilla? Back then you had beautiful fonts and everything tried to look pretty. Now it looks like my old school presentations. Like when you get a moon you have this vanilla text and red background. Doesn't add much excitement to the achievement. Well, getting most moons feel as easy as buying a snickers anyway ig. I don't want to bash on this game since it's so overly welcomed. But for me, it tries too hard to be a "best of", you see elements from every super mario game in it and I wished odyssey had built more upon its, actually, fresh approach.

Simply put, Super Mario Odyssey is the best game of 2017, and one of the greatest games of all time. Nintendo is on a roll. Long live the King.

By jumping aboard the Odyssey, Mario takes us on a trip where await nothing but discoveries and wonders all along. By gathering elements from every game of the franchise, Nintendo expand the classic gameplay with Cappy's possession. Diverse, intelligent, colorful and incredibly long and surprising, the free exploration will satisfy both curious and hardcore gamers. Super Mario Odyssey sanctifies a 30-year-old series that still amazes us episode after episode.

An immersive gaming experience that will have you travelling through a plethora of kingdoms, with many secrets to discover and many opportunities to experience the unique features of the console. A game that is sure to make Miyamoto-san proud of the newer teams working on the Super Mario Universe.

Super Mario Odyssey is a lovely experience from beginning to end. The sheer scope of the game can be a little overwhelming and there are some bumps you’ll encounter in your journey. If you’re searching for a solid experience on the Nintendo Switch beside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you should definitely take this odyssey with Mario.

Though a really neat game, Super Mario Odyssey is an utterly underwhelming adventure for every long-term Super Mario fan in existence. Unless Cappy brainwashed you. In that case, you are a satisfied zombie customer now. No, seriously, only a zombie would find a healthy challenge in this pleasant but disappointingly easy Super Mario Walk-in-the-park. Sorry - Odyssey.

For me almost nothing has topped this game, it’s an outstanding experience from start to finish and has iconic moments you will never forget. From the art direction, level design and different kingdoms to the music, everything is a 10/10.

Прикольный платформер, который наконец немного пересмотрел замкнутый стиль прошлых марио. Дл меня чисто пройти разок, попрыгать, пособирать немного лун. Другие говорят что вся суть в собирании лун, но меня не затянуло.

For what it is worth, this game is not bad, it is ok mario game, and I really like this type of games, but with Super Mario Odyssey I have issues, It is boring, very boring and if the game like this is boring it just does not matter if ideas are original, if there are no fps drops and game run smoothly, it is boring as hell and I cant imagine even 12 year old me playing this and liking it, I am so sorry Mario fans

The game "Super Mario Odyssey" was surprisingly horrible. To be completely straightforward in my opinion Game-play loop was stale, the worlds were nowhere close to unique in my opinion, and the story lacked depth.
