The lack of speed is a real problem here.

A long list of shortcomings, from stupid level design, unrefined controls and useless gunplay to disappointingly outdated graphics.

Unlike last years popular and more importantly, playable, "Sonic Heroes," Shadow The Hedgehog is a misstep in almost every direction.

Probably the worst game I've ever played, it has NO redeeming qualities, a failure from start to finish. This isn't even a "funny bad" compared to other titles like 06 or Sonic 1's GBA port, this one's just a bad bad.

Shadow the Hedgehog is an ambitious attempt to mature the series’ identity, trading the bright, optimistic "blue sky" aesthetic for a darker, more urban atmosphere. While the concept of a branching narrative driven by player choice is a fascinating direction for a 3D platformer, the execution often feels at odds with the high-speed physics the franchise is known for. The introduction of firearms and combat vehicles adds a layer of complexity that, unfortunately, tends to break the sense of momentum rather than enhancing **** level design features some visually striking environments, from the rain-slicked streets of Westopolis to the high-tech corridors of the ARK, but navigating them can be a chore. The mission-based structure requires players to hunt down specific enemies or items to progress, which frequently leads to tedious backtracking and a complete halt of the fast-paced gameplay fans expect. This shift toward combat-heavy objectives highlights the game’s clunky targeting system and slippery physics, making precise platforming and gunplay feel more frustrating than rewarding. Shadow deserved more of their gameplay improvement

underrated game. sure, it has its flaws, but is overall pretty fun if you know how to play it right. if you're expecting a sonic game, you'll be disappointed. it's a spin-off. you've gotta play it for what it is.

I narrowly recommend it for series die-hard, unless it keeps you from buying "Rush", in which case you should opt for your DS all the way. [Dec 2005, p.58]

This premise would still be stupid even if Shadow didn't suffer from slowdown issues, a nonexistent lock-on system, a horrible camera, and bottomless pits in which to fall. But it does, and it is stupid--just like this is a stupid way to spend 50 bucks.

Clearly none of you have taste. This is the greatest video game ever made. I wouldn't say it's the pinnacle of media as I have reserved that place for some other things, but definitely the pinnacle of gaming. Shadow the Hedgehog was already this badass character we all needed in our lives. Then Sega released this masterpiece. There is an insane amount of replayability. 100% completing this game would take forever. That's a good thing. On top of that, this game has those beautiful, shiny PS2 era graphics. Then there's the industrial inspired soundtrack including the PEAK that is I am all of me. Also, best of all, guns. I **** love guns. Guns are so cool. I love edginess. Heh.

Shadow the Hedgehog is awful. Stay away from it.

Sega has jumped the shark with their Sonic franchise, as this release massively disappoints with frustrating controls and useless camera.

Shadow the Hedgehog could signal the death of Sonic spin offs, the title tries too hard to be impressive and ultimately fails miserably.
25
Combine the relatively poor visuals with monotonous level designs, and you'll find yourself in the middle of a level with no real visual cues of where you are within the level.

Regular game, much "edgyer" for a sonic game, bad camera and regular levels but its a It is quite enjoyable if you know how to enjoy it, its strongest points are probably its ost (crush 40 and all the other composers and sega bands never disappoint in this regard) and its story which bathes in the character of shadow to express his past and how his view of his past is changing, this is not counting the fact that he has many alternative endings, maybe if they had polished more things or removed a little "edgy" things it would be a much better game and thus be much more appreciated

This game is pretty bad, but i wouldn't call it the worst either. The story just makes shadow a super inconsistent and bipolar character and the branching story line amounts to nothing in the end with the last story being done like in previous 3D games. The gameplay can be fun when you're just getting to the goal ring, but once u gotta do a monotonous mission like destroying a amount of enemies, that's when it doesn't become fun. Funnily enough, the one thing people made fun of with this game, the gunplay, i actually kinda like. It's my preferred way to take out enemies, but that's also because both the homing attack and the spindash are unbelievably nerfed in this game. The music is ok, but not one of my favorites tbh. I am all of me and all hail shadow are the only ones i care about. Overall, pretty messy game, and a huge mistep from the adventure games and even heroes tbh.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be. But I would seriously consider smashing my monitor if I have to play through Westopolis again. Also, **** the perfect chaos in one of the hero missions and **** the computer room.
