Luxurious is how I would describe the feeling of playing FFVII Rebirth. It’s borderline elitist to experience it in its entirety. It’s a carnival of fun, fresh ideas that are oftentimes a little too shy to take center stage owing to outdated open world mechanics and mundane, Ubisoft-style checklists. Everything good about it is when it embraces the Japanese philosophy of game design (in other words: capturing the original FFVII’s spirit), and everything bad about it is when it complies with western tropes and gimmicks, and practically bows down to market-tested AAA trends. It’s an overall great title with sadly too much filler content in the end, and I would’ve enjoyed it more had it been a fully linear game instead. The story takes some steep turns here and there, but it’s all a moot point.

Wow, what an adventure! After completing a game that took over 200 hours, seeing the credits roll is simply amazing. Looking back and remembering the feats accomplished within the game and appreciating a world design capable of captivating and holding your attention is incredible. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth takes on the difficult task of succeeding the acclaimed 2020 title (my personal Game of the Year). Historically, the specialized press has shown a certain shortsightedness or lack of perspective in appreciating the complexity and scope of this franchise's installments upon release. Despite this, the longevity and emotional impact on those of us who love the franchise ultimately grant the game its rightful **** transition from the oppressive walls of Midgar to the vastness of the outside world is executed masterfully. Rebirth doesn't simply replicate the map of the 1997 PS1 game; it expands its world. Each continent introduces unique mechanics, regional tasks, and an environmental narrative that gives meaning to exploration. The journey across continents doesn't feel repetitive; on the contrary, it's like a profound reconstruction of the planet's geography, where each area concludes with a well-justified narrative and gameplay **** battle system represents the definitive evolution of the Action-RPG genre. It far surpasses its predecessor, delivering absolute fluidity that eliminates any sense of pause or rigidity, achieving constant dynamism. The strategic depth also generates a new framework of materia, allowing for superior synergies. This transforms pre-battle preparation into a fascinating tactical puzzle, where a single boss can demand hours of customization. And last but not least, there's synchronization, which adds synchronized attacks with companions, creating visual spectacle and developing essential mechanical tools that reward team management and strengthen party **** main Achilles' heel of Rebirth lies in the overexploitation of its minigames. While quests like Blood of the Queen and Fort Condor are brilliant, addictive, and of exceptional quality (with side quests that enrich the lore), their overall integration becomes overwhelming. The design makes the mistake of making the discovery of secret areas and the expansion of the story contingent on the mandatory completion of these activities. Investing 10 to 15 consecutive hours in side quests dilutes the urgency of the main plot and completely halts the flow of an epic adventure.Chadley's simulation ecosystem and the summoning challenges impose a significant barrier of frustration. By raising the difficulty to the series' highest level, the game abandons flexibility and demands ultra-specific character and materia compositions for each enemy. This rigidity, coupled with an unavoidable element of luck in later battles, breaks the organic connection with the game and punishes the player with hours of trial and error. Likewise, Hard Mode redefines the challenge to an extreme degree compared to the scaling seen in the **** conclusion, and despite its mechanical excesses, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth stands as an unforgettable experience that stays with you. The beauty of its soundtrack, which respects the original nostalgia through monumental arrangements, and the impact of chapters like the Gold Saucer or the Loveless scene are so virtuosic that they manage to erase the moments of frustration caused by Chadley or the minigames. This RPG boasts a high level of production quality, AAA budget, and graphical ambition that are very rare in Japanese RPGs. The ending, by intertwining the destinies and worlds of Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth, is a surprising stroke of genius that perfectly sets the stage for the eagerly awaited conclusion in the third installment. RATING 9.5/10

I played Final Fantasy VII Rebirth right after finishing Remake, and I was really looking forward to it. In between, I tried getting into the original because I'd heard it could help understand the story better, but I ended up dropping it — and that worried me. I thought maybe Rebirth wouldn't hook me as much. It was the complete opposite. I loved it. It's a brilliant game. They've improved so many things that didn't quite work for me in Remake: the fluidity of movement, the exploration, that more open and visually stunning world. Everything is executed beautifully, and it reminds me a lot of Kingdom Hearts, especially in that group dynamic and the sense of friendship that builds up gradually. The story has a lot of Nomura in it: it invites you to question things, leaves loose ends, plays with time jumps and multiple realities. It's a bit convoluted, yes, but in the same intentional way Kingdom Hearts is. You can tell it's all part of the plan. The soundtrack is outstanding. The open world is enormous — it took me around 70 hours and could have been more, but at some point I felt I needed to close this chapter. I'd love to be able to 100% it on a portable version someday, because it's exactly the kind of world that asks you to explore it at your own pace. The combat is another highlight: a perfect hybrid between strategy and action that takes the best of Final Fantasy XV, the classic VII, and the turn-based system, and pushes it further. And the characters — their stories go so much deeper this time, which I really appreciated. The ending left me with a knot in my stomach. But I get it. That's exactly what it's going for. And now I can't wait for Part 3.

It’s huge, a little too big. But its engaging and I loved it. I think it could of been editing down so its not such a slog. Personal preference though.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is, in my opinion, the perfect example of how to create an unforgettable gaming experience. From its story and world design to its gameplay, it feels as though every aspect of the game was crafted with passion and extraordinary attention to **** story is emotionally engaging and expands upon the events of the original in exciting and meaningful ways. The characters are incredibly well written, and their relationships develop naturally throughout the adventure, making every major story moment feel **** world itself is breathtaking. Every region feels distinct, alive, and worth exploring. The amount of care that went into building this world is evident in every environment, from bustling settlements to vast open landscapes filled with secrets and **** gameplay is where Rebirth truly shines. The combat system builds upon the foundation established in Remake and refines it into something exceptional. Battles are fast-paced, strategic, and consistently rewarding, offering a level of variety that keeps the experience fresh from beginning to end.Even the minigames deserve special praise. Rather than feeling like simple distractions, they are lovingly designed and surprisingly polished. Each one has its own charm and personality, adding even more depth and variety to an already outstanding experience. It's clear that an incredible amount of effort went into making every piece of content feel meaningful and enjoyable.Simply put, it's hard to imagine how this game could have been designed any better. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a remarkable achievement that combines an engaging story, an incredible world, outstanding gameplay, and an unmatched level of craftsmanship.

Rebirth improves on almost everything from Remake. The world is huge, exploration is rewarding, and the combat system is one of the best I’ve experienced in an RPG. The characters, music, and emotional moments are outstanding, and I was constantly finding reasons to keep playing. Not every side activity is a hit, but the overall experience is incredible. One of the best games I’ve played in recent years.

Another beautiful entry in this trilogy, Rebirth does everything right and improves on the fantastic combat system in place in Remake. Characters new and familiar have fantastic depth. Music is absolutely peak as it was in remake. There is huge maps to explore and tons of side content to complete. If you're a completionist you better set a lot of time aside before you start this entry. This is the right way to do the middle entry in the trilogy and sets up what's going to be an amazing finale.

Great adaptation overall but dragged too much on repetitive side quests and minigames that made it look too childish.... im bit sceptic on the story shift by mixing the realities at the end because made arieth death abit weird... but it left it open for the final part of the story so i wont judge before

What an unbelievable journey! After the first Final Fantasy Remake the expectations were very high but this game fully respects them. The strong points of Rebirth are the story as the characterizations of the protagonists. I have empatized with them in the most part of the game (in particular with Earith). Also the gameplay and the combat system are very good. The only negative aspects are the open Map phases too empty and fulled by boring secondary missions. All videogamers should play It!

9.5!! This game bridges the gap between PlayStation 1 and modern day JRPGs. Voice acting is god tier, story unique, open world and gameplay/functionality are out of this world. Will log in just to plaY some piano!’

This game made me sad. Sad because it was not like the tight FF Remake. Sad because the HDR is broken and you can only play it in PS5 PRO to get 4k graphics that are not completely washed. Sad because it was a mess of a story, hoping to see some progress from the first part. Sad because people who do not care about single player experiences and instead want to burn their time endlessly in mindless open worlds like this and said it was a good game. Sad because this isn't a good game, period.

Great game that pays homage to the original and expands it into something really fresh and fun to play. Graphics and music are some of the best in the business. I can't wait for part 3!!

big improvment over part one, which i already loved. the cast is so amazing, the game looks beautiful and the combat system is a good mixture between real time action and turn based sections.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is exactly what I wanted from the second part of this remake trilogy. The game takes everything that worked in Remake and expands it into a massive, open‑zone adventure that actually feels alive. The world is huge, colorful, and full of side content that’s fun instead of filler. Every region feels different, and exploring them never gets **** combat is the biggest highlight. It keeps the fast, hybrid action‑ATB system but adds new Synergy abilities that make party combos feel more strategic and satisfying. Boss fights are intense, cinematic, and some of the best in the series. The game constantly pushes you to experiment with builds, materia, and team setups. The story is where Rebirth really shines. It respects the original while adding new layers, emotional moments, and character development. Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII all get standout scenes that make you care about them even more. The writing balances humor, drama, and mystery without losing the heart of the original FF7. I didn’t give it a perfect 10 because the pacing can slow down in a few chapters, and some side quests feel weaker than others. But overall, the experience is so strong that those issues don’t drag it down much. Rebirth is a beautiful, ambitious, and emotional journey that delivers on almost everything it promises. That’s why I rated it a 9/10

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is just an overrated game.Sustained by a heavy dose of fanservice to blind the nostalgic and emotional audience while thinking it can dictate what is right or wrong for the current game and acting as if it could be better than the original.

I started playing rebirth since it's release and I can't seem to complete it because I have had to take multiple breaks due to being long and tedious!! The pacing of the story is so bad and every area is filled with extra slop missions that are repetitive. The reimagined story is also pretty strange and I can care less about it so I am pretending that it's still following the original FF7 story. The ff7 Remake should have been released as one complete game and not in three parts!!!

Rebirth expands the world of Final Fantasy VII but struggles with pacing and narrative cohesion. While moments of brilliance shine through, the story often feels stretched and inconsistent. Gameplay improvements are noticeable, but they cannot fully compensate for a less focused narrative.

Très bonne suite du premier, néanmoins j'ai eu plus de mal à le finir car il y a un moment creux dans le jeu qui m'a vraiment donné envie de stopper. Sinon les personnages sont incroyables, l'histoire aussi et la difficulté bien gérée.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an absolute Masterpiece in my opinion. As a hardcore FF Fan i had very high expectations for part 1 (or the trilogy altogether) and although i was satisfied with part 1, i wanted to explore more than only the Midgar Region. For Rebirth i was absolutely stunned how much material, (background-)story and fanservice they put in this game. In every Region i was stoked to find out which parts of the original game the put in the current town, region or else and i wasn´t disappointed. The open world and exploring every area from the original, which i played at least 10 times or more was so addicting to me that i went through the game in my first playthrough in about 1 1/2 weeks. i can understand that some of the minigames are too much for some players, otherwise i was happy to see that they recreated as many content as possible and next to all the important story parts there is also many new background information on different parts of the original story (for example the story of the Gi) and for the moment also many options on how to go on. in my opinion they absolutely nailed it with rebirth when it comes to paying homage to the original game with so much to do (even if some of the open world exploring is repetitive), so many side-content, so many fanservice in specific situations. i also did like the combat system more than FF7R1, even though i also would have preferred a more turn-based option, but after doing a lot of training, Materia grinding and reading for the setups, i was able to achieve platinum and it felt very rewarding beeing able to beat the last bosses. Part 3 would not have to be better in my eyes, if it could keep the level that rebirth claimed. In my opinion it´s a nearly perfect second part (with rather 10 than 9 points) and i will love to replay it again and again in the upcoming years.

Square's big foray into semi-open world territory is a resounding success - while not perfect - and delivers an excellent retelling of Final Fantasy 7's larger scale story from the original. The real-time combat is the best the franchise has possibly ever seen, improving on the faults of the previous entry and gifting us more toys to play with.

Simply a badly designed game. We have inaccurate spell descriptions and also a boss named Odin that is able to OHKO you, based on unclear instructions. The game is riddled with poor design decision making, and I can’t help but think that a senior developer could have prevented this. Better hires were needed.

An absolute master piece. Do not even think about playing it if you didn't play the previous one and aren't prepared for spending at least 100 hours on a game that will make you cry. Also, Tifa is as hot as a super model.

Rebirth does continue a solid retelling of the event of the original game, all the while streamlining the game to make it not as lengthy compared to it's predecessor. And while it was cool to have moments to play as Zack, the multiverse story elements do drag it down a bit, as well some minor tedious busy work side events (looking at you, Chadley). Overall, fans of the original, and the remake, will enjoy Rebirth, even though there's still a bit of story left to Final Fantasy VII left to tell.

They’ve completely ruined Final Fantasy VII. I replay the original FFVII every few years on different platforms, and it is still a masterpiece. It is one of the greatest games ever made. Final Fantasy VII Remake already disappointed me. I got the platinum on PS4, but after that I had no desire to ever play it again. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was even worse. I honestly could not get through it. I forced myself to keep going until Junon, then gave up completely. The game is bloated with repetitive map tasks, painfully overlong NPC dialogue, bizarre story changes, awful minigames, and a combat system that feels messy and confused. It tries to do too many things at once and never feels satisfying. Instead of building on what made FFVII special, it buries it under filler and bad design choices. Taking the most iconic Final Fantasy and turning it into this is incredibly disappointing. At this point, Square Enix feels like a company that no longer understands why people loved FFVII in the first place.

Slog **** not worth your time which is sad to say as I liked remake. Open world makes this game worse than it needs to be, having clunky controls does not help compared to the linear version of the original . Story is boring too much filler not needed, also makes no sense what's even happening half the time. Side content is boring for JRPG standards, ruins the game when it is forced into main story, apart from the card game. Fights still not the best tales of arise for example has better combat that both remake and rebirth. Very disappointing game for me when it was hyped up so much by the Sony ponies and metacritic. Glad it didn't win game of the year.

For a player of Final Fantasy since FFXII, this is a masterpiece. It’s a great continuation of remake, improving the experience in all aspects. The only problem (not for general players, but for me) is the platinum trophy. It’s very hard. However, waiting the third part!

Rebirth is a very amibitous sequal to the Remake series, and the second part in the trilogy, filled with lots of fun moments with the crew, whilst also featuring some dark and deep storytelling. The game features a world design similar to the modern God of War games, where you have a large hub-like maps filled with content for the player, each with a distinctive design to them. The story is fun, you are basically adventuring across the world, trying to find and take down Sephiroth, but a lot happens, and you get to learn a lot of the character stories. I have some issues with how character stories are handled compared to the original, but it's subjective, you may like it more. The game is packed with content, however I find it hard to replay, since there isn't much change in NG+. Fun game, definitely recommend if you love FF and JRPGs.

great story, great and beutifull characters that you really love care care throughout the game, good grapfics (i played of perf mode), decent card game, half open world so you can kind of explore the world and relly nice and challenging fighting system but there are things that are redundant in this game, the minigames. most of them **** or are anoying as hell, there are many of different ones in the game but unfortunately most of them are just anoying and redundant, i really feel like they were only added just to make the game longer to beat. without these minigames it is 9.5/10 without them, this game is an 8.

I'm sad that the said remake of a so acclaimed game ends up being this poor in exploration, it felt worst than Assassin's Creed on this one... and damn... Chadley better be missing in the 3rd part of the remake. Otherwise, loved the story though a bit messy (first part ending was very meh even though I understood the idea of time **** itself). Fighting this phase of Sephiroth, though beautifully modeled, was underwhelming : it's too early and there was no challenge at all. FF used to have very hard titles, and even though I'm not asking for the game to be hard, I'd like it to have me think a bit in combats.

A shame it didn't sell a lot, it's actually one of the better open world (region) game I have played. The first chapters are a bit slow story wise and maybe even overwhelming with new open world stuff. It gets way better after some hours though. A lot of surprises, amazing cast of charming characters, a gripping story and the combat is top notch (gets some getting use to though

The story is absolutely dull and typical. It drones on and on with repetitive and meaningless dialogue. The combat is also very simple and annoying. Not really much depth to combat, it's only surface-level depth. all encounters end up playing the exact same way, no matter what type of enemy you are fighting. and there are a lot of enemies to fight. every enemy you use the same strategy, once you understand a character there is no more depth to combat. The best part about this game is exploring the overworlds and collecting intel.

You will never understand what are the devs of Sequare Enix are thinking. They create a great battle system, and they do not design bosses to fit this battle system, instead they make infinite mini games which have zero relationship with this battle system. Mini games, mini games, more mini games. Square Enix really know how destroy a game.

Mixed feelings. The story is chronically anime, whereas the original was able to transcend. The game loves to pad things out and arrest control from the player. It far outstays its welcome by the end and it was painful to finish.

The seemingly endless number of mini-games and side-quests (some of which can thankfully ignored by switching to easy difficulty) completely destroy the pacing, and it’s only the enduring characters and storyline that kept me playing.
