They’ve completely ruined Final Fantasy VII. I replay the original FFVII every few years on different platforms, and it is still a masterpiece. It is one of the greatest games ever made. Final Fantasy VII Remake already disappointed me. I got the platinum on PS4, but after that I had no desire to ever play it again. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was even worse. I honestly could not get through it. I forced myself to keep going until Junon, then gave up completely. The game is bloated with repetitive map tasks, painfully overlong NPC dialogue, bizarre story changes, awful minigames, and a combat system that feels messy and confused. It tries to do too many things at once and never feels satisfying. Instead of building on what made FFVII special, it buries it under filler and bad design choices. Taking the most iconic Final Fantasy and turning it into this is incredibly disappointing. At this point, Square Enix feels like a company that no longer understands why people loved FFVII in the first place.
