Brilliant game that fuses all that makes a great RE game into one. Resident Evil 7's tense horror, RE1's navigation and puzzles, and RE4's dynamic combat. Grace's sections were my personal favourite: slow survival horror featuring Resident Evil's most memorable cast of zombies that plague victorian-style hallways. And although Leon's sections feature some greatly evolved combat from RE4's formula, it struggles to keep an intriguing story pacing to that of Grace's sections; a somewhat stale ending to an epic game such as this leaves a dour note for many, including myself. But it was an awesome journey.

Square's big foray into semi-open world territory is a resounding success - while not perfect - and delivers an excellent retelling of Final Fantasy 7's larger scale story from the original. The real-time combat is the best the franchise has possibly ever seen, improving on the faults of the previous entry and gifting us more toys to play with.

Judgment expands on its Ryu ga Gotoku predecessors in its gameplay, story scale, and overall quality. It's the lovable, quirky, badass formula that's made the Yakuza series so beloved today, while also delivering a gripping detective's tale in its own right. The game struggles in frame performance, but given Ryu ga Gotoku Studio's big strides, these shortcomings can be easily looked past. A treat for Yakuza fans and Japanophiles alike.

Devil May Cry 5 may just be the greatest action-game of all time. The game rewards players who choose to go beyond the foundation set by the developers in this deep and rewarding battle system, and there is so much to work with in this entry. The story continues and concludes the beloved Sons of Sparda saga whilst also introducing well-written and lovable characters that compliment the DMC formula. Jackpot.

The best Final Fantasy game in a long time. A 40-hour story experience that expands on the Midgar saga of the original and proposes new story elements to keep this re-imagining fresh. The game's latter half may not be for everyone, but those open-minded enough to look further into the game's newly implied story elements will have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. Simply fantastic for action-based JRPG fans.
