Strong in every stance, Fate/Samurai Remnant is an all-around hit, giving everything you’d expect from a good Fate game and then some. [Issue#34, p.92]

In the latest iteration in the Fate franchise you take control of Miyamoto Iori who becomes involved in the Waxing Moon Ritual. With Saber as his Servant he must confront the seven Master and Servant pairs to obtain the Waxing Moon Vessel. While doing so you will be exploring and investigating different districts of Edo, as Tokyo was then known.

Fate/Samurai Remnant makes its mark with a strong story and setting, though the gameplay isn’t quite enough to make the most of it. It’s still enjoyable to work through, but the repetitiveness of everything begins to grate by the time a first playthrough is done, running counter to the game’s clear intention of getting players to revisit it for the additional story elements and endings. Fans of the series will certainly be able to appreciate its take on the formula and how it connects to the wider series, and despite the game’s weaknesses, its story should be more than strong enough to get new fans into the franchise.

Fate/Samurai Remnant doesn’t require you to know the Fate series to play, but it will convert you to a fan by the end of it. It’s written well, gives you an interesting world to explore, and has a clean combat system that never wears out its welcome. Given that this does take place in an entirely new chapter for Fate, Type-Moon now has a bunch more characters to spin into mechanise for this money-spinning behemoth and, as much as I hate admitting this to myself, I’d be all in for all of that. Fate/Samurai Remnant has reinvigorated my love for the property all over again.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is another excellent chapter in a franchise full of them. Mixing a great musou combat with a rich and exceptionally developed story, a well-established mythology and very well built characters, the title is easily one of the most welcome and surprising games of 2023.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a must-play for fans of the Fate franchise and worth checking out for anyone who loves a good anime-style game. I can’t say it’ll win over all musou fans due to its focus on storytelling slowing the pacing, but I suspect it may convince those who typically shy away from musou games to give it a second look. In the very least, Fate/Samurai Remnant has a cool premise with fun characters that develop and grow as the story progresses, so if you’ve already had your eye on this one, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a perfectly fun action-RPG, and it is as a great introduction to the Fate franchise for those who find the convoluted and complex series too difficult to get into. The story and gameplay are engaging and fun but don't reach the highs of something like Persona 5 Strikers, largely because of the focus on Iori's "weakness."

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a worthy addition to the series that excels in a engaging story with entertaining combat. At the same time, the game feels a bit outdated due to some mediocre level design and limited graphical splendor. These are some minor observations regarding the experience that is otherwise fine, especially for fans of the series.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is an enjoyable entry in the Fate universe. Its heavy emphasis on storytelling may be longwinded at times, but it does lead to a more interesting experience. The story is a compelling one which can keep the player interested in learning what the Waxing Moon Ritual is and who are the true identities of the warrior spirit Servants. The enjoyable gameplay complements the narrative, though pacing issues and repetition can sometimes hold the the experience back from reaching true greatness. But even with these criticisms, Fate/Samurai Remnant is still a good time and likely to provide many hours of enjoyment to fans of Fate and Omega Force’s other games.

"Fate/Samurai Remnant is not a weak game at any time. The storyline and dialogs are good and will keep you going for a good 25 hours. The different endings also make you want more. The battles are also good, but unfortunately they quickly become repetitive, and the skills sometimes run out of steam after constant repetition. At least the opponents and characters are well animated and designed. Unfortunately, many parts of the rest of the graphics can't keep up and simply look weak and in places also outdated. If you're still a fan of the genre and anime, you can take a closer look at "Fate/Samurai Remnant".

This game was a huge disappointment. They did great with map design, some characters and with some aspects of combat gameplay, however they did fail extraordinarily when they choose to limit your play with others servants through the **** you are coming from Fate/Extella you expect beign able to play with different servants, however on this game, you are stuck with Saber, and even thou you are going to play with the master, rather than the servant, for most of the time. The characters are well designed when talking about art and style, however what the F they did with Saber? Its so boring and lifeless design and personality.. look at Musashi and Jeanne.. you literally get envious from the other masters.. Its worthy note too, that the gender ambiguity on this game is excessive, I understand that Fate series always have one or another character with undefined gender, but in this game it's annoying, all characters that look like male, are male, meanwhile characters that appear to be female might be or might be not female, for instance, Saber, Archer, Yui and others.. are this game trying to cater the "modern audience" ? Really, they did poorly decisions on this game, I am scared of Fate/Extra now, because as is in this game which they can't forget about Fate/Stay, the 2025 game will be the same ****

While the graphics and gameplay is fairly decent, where this title falls short is the terrible script and characters choices. What they did with the Musashi character is horrendous. They've really gone off kilter here with their story and its nowhere near as good as previous games. There are also a fair amount of bugs so maybe wait for proper patches to come out before deciding to get this.
