This could have been so much better if they just focused on making a fun game. Instead you get a very derivative title that does everything worse than similar style games. Its also buggy with technical issues and the characters and writing are pretty bad.

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance1

Firstly, you barely play as the character the game is named after. You play as a girl instead for 90% of the time. The next issue is that the game is too buggy and almost unplayable, it freezes quite often. However, you could probably look past that if you could play as Kain. Very disappointed.

NORSE: Oath of Blood8
Apr 16, 2026
This game may not be a AAA blockbuster but the devs have done an impressive job here. Technically, its definitely not as good as other titles but where this game shines is in the story, script and voice overs. It really keeps you engaged. The turn based battles are fun too but it is probably the story that will keep you coming back for more. It's also one of those start from the bottom and grow from there. I would have loved to be able to customize the characters a bit but due to the focus on plot and characters, its understandable.

The first game was enjoyable but this one is incredibly disappointing. While the graphics and animations are ok, the characters and writing are horrendous. It really takes you out of the game. How difficult it is to create good characters and a relatively interesting script. So many other games give you awesome main or secondary characters to play as or interact with but not in this game. Apart from that the combat is so incredibly boring that you will set the speed to 2.5 times faster to get through it. They could have done so much better with this title.

Screamer2
Mar 28, 2026
The original Screamer from the 90s was a classic, brilliant game. This one is ok but Roisin is one of the worst characters I've seen in a game, she an angry hateful feminist who attacks her team mates in every cutscene. So pointless, arent we past the girl boss who hates the entire world and hates men even more. I mean how much hate can you have, this is a video game. Swearing and insulting the lead character every second sentence. All they had to do was make a decent racing game and the story was just a bonus. But they made the story and characters so atrocious, it just detracts from the game itself.

I wanted to give this a chance but the numerous bugs and horrible characters just make this too difficult to play. Graphics are pretty bad for this day and age with numerous cases of clipping during gameaplay. The story and script which could have saved this is even worse than the games sub par presentation. Give this a miss unless you just want to try it out to see how bad it is.

This could have been so much better, however, the terrible characters you get to play with along with the repetitive gameplay really make this one for the bargain bin. The character art is stiff and poorly done, these don't look like normal people. As for the writing, that's probably the worse part. The turn based battles are ok though. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters9
Feb 21, 2026
This is one of the best turn based strategy games in recent years. The graphics are excellent and the sound design is pretty good. The game has a decent main story with little bits of lore and side missions here and there. Your main character also gets to make choices during dialog scenes. The units and various classes you get look amazing with some cool choices for voice overs. They look and sound like the agents of destruction they are. You get to do a fair amount of customization including name, abilities, loadouts as well as armour designs and decals etc. In fact you can spend a lot of time just equipping your characters with the most optimal gear and deciding which equipment to upgrade etc. There is also the research and ship upgrade side of things. Most of the maps are dark and dreary but much of the environments are destructible and interactive which is awesome. A nice addon dlc is Duty Eternal which gives you the powerful Dreadnought class. It also works with existing saves.

THE SPIRIT LIFT3

Really bad characters to play with initially. They are flat with no personality and two of them always insult the third for no reason, no idea why. Graphics are very basic and sound design is almost non existent. Gameplay is below average in terms of deckbuilding games and you dont even get that many cards. In fact, each character has a base set of 4 each which you just upgrade. If this had cooler characters and at least some semblance of a a plot or decent writing, it would actually be worth playing. However, as it stands, its not.

The character choices are abysmal as there are none. The one you're forced to play with is very unlikable. The game is fun and the animations are nice to see. While the graphics are cel shaded and could be better, they are decent enough. Sound effects are very poor. There also isn't too much of a story to follow and its tricky to know how to even complete the game. You basically just go on runs to level up and that's about it. However, the worst part about the game is that it forces you to play as all the female characters before even being allowed to play as a male one. Each of the 3 factions starts with women and you have to level up with them a lot before playing as a man and even more so before playing as the coolest male character. Very disappointing and so unnecessary.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered8
Dec 28, 2025
This is one of the best in the series. FFVIII has cool characters and excellent CG FMV movies. The new remaster improves the graphics and character models a bit but the core game play remains. There are some nifty options to make your experience a bit smoother like full magic which means you don't have to spend your time drawing magic more than once or worrying about using your stock. Wish they had done more on the graphics side, however, the main reason to play this is the characters and story. This is classic Final Fantasy with proper turn based battles and CG cutscenes.

Fantastic turn-based tactics game. Apart from being based on Arthurian lore, the game has pretty decent graphics and sounds as well as some very cool characters, the protagonist especially. The atmosphere really fits the setting and there is a fair amount of voice acting before and during missions. They even have a couple of well done FMV sequences. The battles are very strategic and you will spend tons of time managing your character skills, equipment, items and upgrades etc. The little mini story missions really add to the game as well. This game could have been great. We haven’t had a Might and Magic game for a while and even though the graphics are sort of retro 2D they are serviceable. However, you get to play some of the worse characters I’ve seen in this type of title. Sound is ok with barely any voice acting. There is a lot of text to read. Upon first look Shadowveil seems to have all the makings **** card based auto battler. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. The game tutorial starts off fairly well but thereafter the 2 characters you are presented with do not fit the world at all. You have a weak male samurai and a really tough female character who insults him at every turn. The card art is decent and the UI is clean. The music isn't too grating but the voice overs are pretty bad. Most of this can be forgiven if the gameplay could hold this game up and believe me, it doesn't. This is one of the more boring and frustrating auto battlers you'll come across. units seem to do things randomly and you do absolutely nothing during battles except watch. There is very little customization as well and the worst part is you basically have to keep dying and repeating runs to get anywhere. This means that there is a lot of grinding and having to play with the same poor characters over and over again. Even the design of the cards and characters don't match up to the period and culture it is based on. This game had so much potential but it was wasted.

However, in terms of graphics, art and animations, the game is awesome. There is a lot of lore as well for all the enemies which are extremely well drawn. I do wish I could choose the cooler male characters from the get go but a single run will unlock them. The graphics remind of Knock on the Coffin Door, another excellent deck building roguelike. The user interface of Deathless is also well thought out and beautiful. I just wish they added voice acting but definitely give this game a try, its one of the best card battlers you'll come across.

Very poorly made title. Even from the opening cutscene you can see that lack of production values here. This is one of the best deckbuilding roguelikes I've come across in a few years. Its right up there with Tainted Grail although the style is a bit different. The presentation for this game is excellent, beautiful story book like graphics and story segments. I really love the art style here. The animations as well are pretty decent with some pleasant music. The voice overs are a bonus and the actual cards are well done and look good. Playing the game is smooth and fast during battles although they could have improved the battle sounds a bit i think. There's not much story or reason to play except a single screen summary of the chosen character which again are very poorly done. This is a fantastic deck builder with excellent gameplay mechanics. The graphics are great with a storybook like visuals. There isn't much voice work but what little there is does a decent job of conveying the plot. Its difficult to find a card battler with a good story and writing and where you also get to make choices that affect progression. The only downside is that a lot of it is based on RNG. I was hoping this would be a decent turn based tactical rpg. Unfortunately, it is bad on quite a few levels. The gameplay is jittery and slow paced while the graphics are something you would expect from 10 years ago. Its not terrible but should be better in this day and age. The cast and character choices are a bit ridiculous and really take you out of the world and remind you that this is just a video game. That's something that they could have improved but didn't. Imagine a huge, character fully clad in plate steel armor and smashes the enemy from behind. Sounds good but then they speak and its the voice of a teenage girl. Very world breaking. The engine cutscenes are pretty horrible with no motion capture or even lip syncing of any kind. It wouldn't be out of place in a game made in the late 2000s. The pre-rendered cutscenes are better though. The story is a bit bland with a fairly poor script. I wish this game had more put into it but the developers and writers clearly had other things on their mind. All in all, there are much better tactical RPGs you can play instead of this.
