Blood Knights is representative of the terrible trend in game design where its devs have taken what might have been a mediocre-but-serviceable brawler and packed it full of systems that do nothing for the player but push them further away from the action.
It’s an awkward mix of Diablo and Soul Reaver that nobody asked for. Something to play if you’ve got a few hours and an itch to bump up your Gamerscore.

Blood Knights is like a bad B-movie. However, this game belongs in the category of really bad B-movies. There are a lot of hack ‘n’ slash games which are a lot better than Blood Knights. A disgrace for the genre.

Brief flashes of fun as the male lead but otherwise this is a mediocre hack'n'slasher that's only worth grabbing when on sale & even then you're better of getting something else

Blood Knights Decently Enjoyable Blood Knights is a top down action rpg where you play as vampires Jeremy and Alysa after an artifact to prevent cataclysms You can play this game with local co-op or switch between the 2 characters at any time Jeremy is more of the hack and slasher, able to do a whirlwind attack, and heavy attacks, while Alysa is more about ranged weapons.. She carries a cross bow and can throw bombs and shoot fire arrows… This game wasn’t received well when it came out… And im not really sure why This 5 an a half hour journey to the credits is in no way good... But it’s enjoyable... I had fun the combat and level design here is fairly simple... You run around, activate switches when you have to collects loot to boost your stats and slay all the fools that cross your path... You’re even eventually able to **** the blood out of them to regain some of your health… which you’ll need to do a lot as Jeremy and Alysa annoyingly share a health bar… The only point of having 2 characters to switch back and forth from is to shoot switches Jeremy can’t reach.. And if you’re more of an Alysa person... then theses no point in having Jeremy around at all... They do level up together though, which allows you to buff one of your special attacks, and there are blood coins around to collect that once you get 5 you can increase a base stat like health or power.. Level design is pretty straight forwards and feels varied enough... I never felt bored of the game or like ive seen it all before… Sure its in no way challenging The rpg elements are extremely simple The bosses are kinda lame the story and characters are definitely lame but I had fun… This is a very mindless done in one sitting hack and slash kind of game This game again is in no way definitively good, but I still feel it’s under rated and if you’re watching this review the same month im posting it, it’s free for the ps3 so you have nothing to lose in trying it out I give Blood Knights a 6.5/10

terrible does not even begin describing the gameplay of Blood Knights. Its clunky controls, trite environments, same looking hordes of enemies and over-simplistic character customization.

It’s hard to recommend Blood Knights when there are similar games that offer a slicker production and far greater variety.

Blood Knights is too easy to ever become actively irritating, but its deficit of danger makes it too darn dull to hold even a devoted horror nut’s attention for long. Perhaps it’s a blessing, then, that the whole ho-hum campaign clocks in at just four hours.

The hack&slay formula is simple. But Blood Knights doesn’t deliver. That this game and Venetica come from the same dev team is hard to believe.
