The critics gave it a 52 rating. What a joke. I have seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Irishman and 1917. They are all good. This film is better ! Based on a true story, the movie is well directed and the acting is excellent. William Hurt , Christopher Plummer , Samuel Jackson , Peter Fonda and Ed Harris have all starred in films , some 20-25 years ago and they all turned in wonderful performances in their roles . Its sad at times and at other times , poignant . Don't spend on reviews by movie critics. Read the audience reviews. This is a must see movie

The movie got just so so reviews and to an extent, it deserved them. That stated, its an enjoyable film. Malek nails his performance and the music highlights the story. Its a little long but the Live Aid scenes are just great. Forget the critics. If you liked Queen , you'll enjoy the movie

Any film with a naked Jennifer Lawrence automatically gets a five. The plot had potential but got muddled with heavily accented dialogues and a lack of consistency. The background scenes were overall dark and bleak and the violence had an overkill aspect. As good as Jennifer always is, the violent scenes might have been better with a lesser known actress. I'd still see the movie but wouldn't have expected so much. Its o.k......

A decent film, it has been seriously over hyped and over rated. Pros: great visuals and technical imagery. Well cast and the story is o.k.. now the cons. Actor's accents difficult to decipher. A blend of Star Wars, Lion King and Harry Potter, it reaches the level of none of those. Some scenes drag on. Nowhere near as good as Iron Man or Wonder Woman. Marvel Studios are flooding the theaters with offerings. Some are better than others. This is one of the others

Violent. Absorbing. Realistic. Bleak. Redemption. Humane. Message of anti violence. Slow moving in parts. Take your pick. Its all of the above. An interesting and well scripted plot, the acting and cinematography are very good. Bale is well cast and excellent. Rosamund Pike is well cast and very good. Its part Dancing With Wolves and part Revenant . I think its better than both. Its not a feel good movie but is probably a more accurate portrayal of the West and how it was won. I wouldn't have lasted long in the wild west. Terrific film for some but not all movie goers

This is a borderline great film. I gave it a 9 only because I don't know how close to actual history it clung to. Gary Oldman's portrayal of Churchill is Oscar worthy. He is in 90% of the film and is just great. The photography is spot on as is the directing and film editing. Telling the story through the eyes of Churchill's secretary was a good choice. The theater I went to seated 36 people. About 25 showed up and they were all "over 60". Does the under 60 group even know who Winston Churchill was ???

Well made but definitely for the females. They will relate to the oft problematical mother-daughter relationship that lies at the heart of the story. The characters are likable and the actors portraying them do excellent work. Ronan is a fresh new talent and was well cast. Her mother,father, friends and teachers all play their parts well. Its character driven but any semblance of a plot is weakly presented. A pretty good film that may have missed it mark

Mick LaSalle of the SF Chronicle hit the nail on the head with his review. He gave it a 50; I gave it a 5. In a Tom Cruise movie, the plot takes a back seat to Tom Cruise. So be it. This movie took 10 years of the amazing life on Barry Seal. The movie took great liberties but there was a lot to pack in a two hour film. Its moderately fun, the action scenes are well choreographed and Tom is ...well, he is just Tom ! Handsome , great smile , everything will be o.k. Tom. If 50% of this story is true , shame on the U.S. government for such foolish thinking. I liked it o.k....

The critiques are disproportionate to the quality of the film. Its better than most of the negative reviews. Its not Citizen Kane or The Godfather. Its a James Bond-Jason Borne type thing and its entertaining. Some of it is stupid but some of it is very good. Good casting, nice pace , reasonable semblance of a plot. What do you want for $8.00 ? Good middle of the week movie

The proper rating is a 4 but I gave a 5 because it was light hearted and tried to be a good film. Its not. Whats wrong with it ? Its a Coen Brothers wannabe . They can pull it off;others can't. Daniel Craig is mis cast. The women are good but don't get much screen time. The southern accents are so thick, its sometimes difficult to hear every word. Finally too many moving parts to the heist. Its strains credibility that everything planned worked exactly as such. Whats good about the movie ? Cast was pretty good, the concept of rednecks planning a heist is original and some scenes were good. Hard to pull everything together. It tried to be entertaining and a few times, it was. Its not the worst movie you will see this year but no harm if you miss it either.

Awful. Director elected to focus on the (alleged) events at the Algiers Motel and its a mistake. No background for the characters are provided . Looters loot and cops commit excessive violence. Tell us something we don't already know.

So many qualified critics gave this film a high score that my six (6) is in the minority. It was o.k. but could have been a lot better. The story is worthwhile and the casting seems decent. The photography is at times very good and at other times, very confusing. Didn't need all the almost drowning scenes. The style wherein one character's story overlaps another or is shown concurrently did not work for me. Too confusing. The story was dramatic but the movie wasn't. Not impressed with this director

This is a smart film for 2017. Consider the association between Pakistan and terrorism then take a Pakistani leading man and make him funny and likable. The humor is great but subtle. The barriers that need to be broken down for a Muslim to fall in love with a "westerner" prove to be hilarious. His family and her family are priceless. Great cameos by his parents and her parents, Holly Hunter and Ray Romano. This movie is well intentioned and entertaining. What more do you need ?

I wanted to like it and thought I would. A novel idea, a kid who drives like Joey Logano but needs to constantly listen to music to drown out tinnitus. A car driving savant but the novelty wore off. Lead was well cast, Spacey and Fox were miscast and the story was uneven. Turned soapy at the end . It looked like scenes taken from a dozen movies and blended together. It wasn't the worst movie I've seen but should have been so much better

Movies are generally classified under entertainment. This then can't be a movie because it does not entertain. The story is dark. The dialogue is dark. Affleck is a monotonous, one dimensional actor. Speaking is painful for him. The film does not have meaningful dialogue. The nephew was good as was Michelle Williams, although her role is not large. At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself if this film provided $10 worth of entertainment. It did not . My review ; don't see it

Little drama or tension but a good film. I did not know the behind-the-scenes story but its understandable that the FAA had to conduct a thorough investigation. Tom is , as always , very good in the role of Sully and Aaron does a nice job as his friend and co pilot. The problem, if there is a problem , is that the real life Sully was a level headed , low key type guy and Clint Eastwood as director, is also level headed and low key. Less is more and one of the results is a lack of tension and excitement to the story. Its told in a clinical fashion. Nevertheless a quality film and worth seeing

Its a B movie. Director couldn't decide if the focus of the film should be on Duran , his manager , his tempestuous marriage or Panama's relationship with the U.S..C ..Casting was questionable . DeNiro hasn't made a good movie in 20 years. All he offers now are the DeNiro facial expressions. John Tortoro poor choice as a gangster and Ellen Barkin cast against type as an older wife. The girl playing Duran's wife was good. Bad pacing, too many closeups of the actual fights scenes and a jumpy story line. Save your $$$ and watch one of the Rocky re runs on HBO

Good film. As New Mexico set the tone and atmosphere for "Breaking Bad" on TV , so it does once again in this movie. Vast emptiness as far as the eye can see, its the perfect background for this story. Parts of the film reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, Thelma and Louise and No Country for Old Men, its a good yarn. Actors are well casted but as one would expect, Jeff Bridges steals the show as the retiring law man wiser than his age. One of the great if understated actors of his time.

Without knowing the back story, director doesn't explain the difference and relationships between the contractors, the CIA and the State Dep't people. All the guys have somewhat similar frames and beards. Its confusing. The action scenes are also confusing as to locations and personnel. The story could have been directed better. The actors themselves were all John Wayne types and were good. Good job of showing us in a lawless foreign country with all the dangers around each corner. To sum it up, the story was there for a good film but the director fell short in telling it. Its also a long movie

Leo is my favorite actor. See all of his films. Don't think he should have won the AA. Too little dialogue. Very realistic film. I'm sure the old pioneers were as violent as portrayed. Survival of the strongest in a wilderness that took no prisoners. I know about dramatic license but I don't think the human body could take the damage that Leo's character and survive in the brutal **** the end of the day, do you want to be entertained by a movie. If you do, don't see this one. Its a good film that is not enjoyable to watch.

Its a movie about comic book characters and as that, its pretty good. The actors performing these parts are very good especially Downey. The visuals are good and the plot is fairly good. One of the minor negatives is that the studios are introducing new characters to spin off in future projects. It can get a bit confusing as so many characters are fighting in fast moving action scenes. I thought the young naive Spider Man stood out . The Jeremy Renner character adds nothing and neither does the mighty gnat or whatever he is. Scarlet always looks great and her character did not get enough screen time. All in all , a pretty decent action film

Where to begin. I have to ask myself who this movie was made for. The Trekies, the Harry Potter cult, the people who sleep on the side walk when a new I Phone is introduced ? I went to the late Saturday night showing so the theater was filled with harmless mutants wearing Superman and Batman gear. The talk in the lobby suggested these fans see the characters as REAL super heroes. O.K., they paid their $15. They're entitled. The film itself wasted a huge budget. The first 1/2 of the movie was somewhat confusing. The plot was made clear in the 2nd half. Cavill not the right guy for his part but Ben and Wonder Woman were just right . The action scenes were over done. To wrap it up, if you are just as enthusiastic about comic book characters as you were as a kid, you will probably like it. If you enjoy some (a little) subtlety, you won't because the action scenes are over done. The same story with another director might have been better. As an aside, we went out for pizza before the movie and that was great

Good casting but the dysfunctional , eccentric father role played twice a year by Di Nero is getting old. Lawrence and Cooper always good as was Virginia Madsen (didn't recognize her). Nice story about never taking no for an answer, believing in yourself , rags to riches, etc., etc., but it got me wondering how much dramatic license the film makers took. Was Joy Mangano really like that, nice,decent,ambitious woman or in real life, was she obsessed, self involved and irresponsible in her parental duties. Its worth seeing

Take a good set director and special effects department, provide them with a significant budget and turn them loose. What you get is MM:Fury Road. The costumes and vehicles are imaginative and preposterous. The scenery is stark. The is little story line. At the end of the day, its little more than a bazar non stop car chase. Thats o.k. if its advertised as such but some people have nominated it in the best film category. PLEASE !

Really good film. Great directing and acting. Terrific pacing. If there is a problem ( I gave it an 8 ) its the subject matter. High finance is an uncomfortable subject for most people. Its complex and the majority doesn't fully understand it. The problem is thats what the movie is about. If you had no interest in football, chances are the movie Concussion wouldn't hold your interest. Same with The Big Short. Still well worth seeing

Change the name of Tarantino's new movie to the Hateful 9 because I also hated it. Looking to give him a fresh look, I watched Django Unchained on Netflix. Better than Hateful 8…but not by much. QT has psychological hang ups; African-Americans and the history of blacks , the word **** and Samuel Jackson. The latter is a really good actor but really .. every film ? As always , DiCaprio is a treasure. Bad,bad man. Deliciously played. The acting overall was solid as was the story line but the problem is QT excess and self indulgence. Since Pulp Fiction , the first 1/3 of his movies are really good, often comical , the middle 1/3 o.k. and the last part excessively violent and senseless. My new slogan is "just say no to Tarantino" .

I rated this film a 3 last night after seeing it. After further consideration, its a 2. A good film should have entertainment value , be thought provoking , contain a good plot and solid acting. This one had a good plot and solid acting but not enough of either to offset the basic fact thats its just not entertaining. Like watching an autopsy ! Tarantino's formula for dialogue worked in Pulp Fiction ( do you know what they call a Big Mac in France ; I'm going to get medevil on him ). It also entertained in Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown. I have not seen Kill Bill or Basterds. It does not serve as well in this movie. Creative guys like Tarantino develop a cult following and they want to expand on that creativity. They lose track of the reality that movie making is a commercial enterprise. Take away those viewers (and critics ) that rated this movie favorably JUST BECAUSE it was a QT film and you have a whole bunch of movie goers that wish they had their $10 back.
