While the villains are standard issue evil, Wonder Woman is remarkable in the genre for its early 20th century setting and Gadot's galvanizing performance.

Diana’s a superhero without a chip on her shoulder; she was raised in love, and Gadot lets that belief shine through her eyes. You’re both drawn to this woman and in awe of her.

Gadot is simply marvelous. Physically, she’s bold and commanding. But there’s a sweetness about her too, as if she and Jenkins understand intuitively that Wonder Woman can’t just be blandly awesome. She's got to be able to feel wonder too.

Wonder Woman is leaps and bounds above the other three entries in the DCEU. With a dramatic setting, a few entertaining action scenes, and a strong supporting cast all working together to tell an inspirational Hero’s Journey, it more than offsets some occasionally uneven acting on Gadot’s part and some shaky technical aspects.

Wonder Woman won’t reinvent the superhero franchise, or the origin story. But it does show how compelling they can still be, when someone is allowed to do them right.

Gadot proves she is worthy of Wonder Woman’s tiara, but the superhero deserves a great film, not one that’s just better than the others.

It’s plagued by the same problems that dragged down previous visits to the DC movie world: over-earnestness, bludgeoning special effects, and a messy, often wildly implausible plot. What promised to be a glass-ceiling-smashing blockbuster actually looks more like a future camp classic.

Wonder Woman review I love Wonder Woman I love gal gadot as her she made Greek warrior side of Wonder Woman fighting in world war 2 like gladiator in it as well to have Connie be queen Hipolita so that was amazing I love editing for Wonder Woman especially when she was transferring from a little girl to a teenager, a growing an adult and then a woman, especially when she was doing her training so that editing was amazing I loved all gal galdot outfits and hairstyles I love how authentic Diana was being her self very secure with herself I love her dedication commitment focus on to stop war and bring peace to the world I love all the action fight scenes there were amazing cool impressive hard work but fun entertaining at the same time 5 star 10 out 10 star 100 out 100 star

A film with a rather classic plot but a particular setting. It has a good development and a good dose of action combined with a solid story that makes it enjoyable from beginning to end without any drops in intensity.

Superpowers affect the outcome of the first World War, as a crashed fighter pilot accidentally uncovers a secret island of warrior women and recruits their champion to fight for the allied forces. Once they've left the idyllic fantasyland of this island paradise, however, the femme fighter's deep-seated naïveté bubbles to the surface and our soldier splits time between babysitting and desperately redirecting the brunt of her morally-indignant rage toward the enemy. Flavorful and energetic, Wonder Woman has a lot of good ideas, but it struggles to unify them in a mixed setting. And, perhaps coincidentally, many of its central themes directly overlap with Marvel's competing films. It shares a ground-level war setting with Captain America. Mythological fantasy / fish out of water elements with Thor. Black Panther's insular society, deliberately isolated from the modern world. Each one has a unique twist, of course - tweaks and eccentricities to distinguish this character from the rest - but it's still all-too easy to draw those parallels, and the numerous comparison points make this film seem less daring and original. Poor effects work often lets Wonder Woman down, too. Particularly where the use of her powers are concerned, there's a stiffness, a distinct sense of detachment from reality, that robs important scenes of their implied power. We can see the strings, in other words, and that draws our focus away from the bigger picture. Gal Gadot certainly looks the part of an Amazon, a stunning mix of elegance and athleticism, but her chances to show personality and take ownership of the role are limited. For such a specifically character-driven story, that's a major problem. The supporting cast picks up some of the slack this time around, but presumably they won't be there for the forthcoming sequel, as it's set nearly seventy years in the future. All in all, this was a light dose of conceptual fun, but I'm going to need a better reason to stick around for the next one.

It's a big-budget "feminist" movie, so it is important. Therefore, no matter how bland, dull, tedious, and dumb Wonder Woman is, it was destined for great reviews. It will get no great review from me.
