Dying Light 2 Stay Human4
Feb 7, 2022
I gave this game 5 hours of my time and turned it off because I was so bored. I played the first one to a platinum trophy and enjoyed it, but this is just the same old enemies, same old pointless side quests all dressed up in new clothes (improved graphics). I honestly could not recommend this to anyone.

Boring, repetitive and just plain frustrating. To go through the whole first level, die to the boss, and find that all the items I collected are gone and I need to slog through the whole level again is just plain nonsense. I have played Dark Souls extensively, so I understand the "die and you start again" scenario, but even Dark Souls allows you to keep items you have collected. This game occupied a couple of hours for me before I deleted it.

Combine a seriously wierd game developer with a barrow full of money and a few B grade actors, and what do you get ? This piece of crap. If you want to be a fedex delivery guy in a future world, knock yourself out, but if you want to actually play a game and not spend hours watching cut scenes in between deliveries, find something else. I really can't believe anyone thought this was worth a score above 3.

I read people complaining about technical issues but I have not experienced any and I have played it every day since release. As for the cry babies whining about split screen not being what they wanted, it was all shown in pre-release videos, so perhaps they should have paid more attention.. All in all, an excellent game which I continue to enjoy.

Metro Exodus7

I absolutely loved the first two Metro games, but this one is a disappointment. Pros: Nice graphics Enjoyable combat (if you have ammo) Cons: Guns that just refuse to fire. (Gatling gun) Endless conversation that is plain boring Ridiculous load times Press and hold square - why not just press ? Poor objective information Even on normal difficulty the search for ammo All in all, this game is really starting to annoy me. Being assigned a mission by my wife - who suddenly thinks she is in charge - when I have zero ammo for two guns and a third gun which will not fire at all is just plain game stopping for me. Add in the mindless, boring conversation and it is all starting to grate on me. I will finish this and move on, I doubt I will want to replay it like I did with the previous two.

Is this what passes for a game nowadays ? Boring, repetitive and a money waster. I need to remind myself about pre-ordering - don't do it ! The only one who benefits from it is the developer.

I find it hard to understand how so many people can work for so long to produce this piece of crap. Message for the developers :- Sony provide 4 triggers on the controller so that players can use them in action games. That is because it is more comfortable/natural. Pressing buttons to activate a sword attack is just plain stupid. Then there are the movement mechanics. I think a wounded crab moves more smoothly than this character. The game itself seems to want to make some statement about insanity, but just what that is remains a mystery. Walking endlessly and fighting enemies every so often is hardly entertaining. This game has nice graphics, but lacks any quality beyond that. Its only saving grace was the throwaway price. That is exactly what I did with it.

The Surge5
May 22, 2017
This game tries to copy the Dark Souls/Bloodborne style but fails miserably. The combat is extremely unbalanced, as you deal with one enemy quite easily then face another of the same type ang get one hit killed. Move to the next area where you expect the enemies to be a little harder, and they are easier ! The "story" is borrowed heavily from other games and also lacks any clarity. Bugs abound and will frustrate players before they are too far into the game. Just could not recommend this one.

The demo was great - it saved me from spending money on this piece of garbage. It reminds me **** created for a high school project, with its outdated graphics, bland enemies and feeble, unoriginal story. Do yourself a favour and play the demo before spending any money on this.

A great way to end a great series. Interesting to note that the three people who scored it the lowest all basically said they found it too difficult. (Blaming the game for their own inadequacies.) If you like Dark Souls, you will enjoy this DLC, though it is not for the weak.

Boring and repetitive game full of bugs. I missed the platinum because the gun collector trophies are bugged, but did Ubisoft fix it ? Of course not, they were too busy on a dlc so they could gouge even more money - not from me. This is the last Ubisoft game I will buy.

Horizon Zero Dawn6

The graphics are beautiful, and the open world is huge. Combat is sufficiently difficult (in parts) to make it interesting and the game mechanics are very good. So why did I only rate it 6 ? Two things; First the repetitive nature of quests which is the downfall of most of these open world games. Second the rampant feminist agenda which is on display everywhere you go in the game. All the male characters are either intensely evil, or downright **** wimps. The females are all strong and dominant. It got the better of me eventually and I quit playing the game at about the 70% mark. I could not recommend it.

Sniper Elite 42
Mar 1, 2017
Here we have sniper elite 4 with all of the bugs that existed in sniper elite 3 and also some new ones too. Slightly improved graphics do not excuse the lazy approach which has been taken with this one. Rebellion's website says they have 180 employees, but I am prepared to bet none of them work in any quality control capacity. After completing all of the missions, I played one of the overwatch missions in order to finalise a couple of trophies, only to have my entire progress in the game and all weapon upgrades wiped. Apparently this is a known problem and Rebellion "hope" to have a patch released this week which they "hope" will fix the problem I am not holding my breath, and I certainly will never buy another game from this developer.

You know you have bought a faulty product when they release a patch with over 100 "fixes" within weeks of the game going on sale. The silly thing is that after this patch, many of the most obvious faults in the game have still not been fixed !! This game could have been good, but sadly, it is rubbish.

I played this game for 4 hours and that was more than enough for me to remove the disc and list it on eBay. If Bethesda spent 7 years making this piece of junk, they should all do the right thing and resign.

One of my all-time favourite games, and I played this re-release with fond memories. Looking forward to the rest of the series in November.

Spend a few hours lifting your character from Level 34 to level 40 and what is left ? Nothing whatsoever. One raid, which requires 6 people, but there is no matchmaking, so unless you have 5 friends at the same level, who are prepared to spend 4-5 hours straight playing the raid, forget it. Oh, and all those weapons and armour you worked so hard for are now mostly useless. This game has run its race and it's time to move on.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood8
May 18, 2015
Good fun, though doesn't last all that long. People talking about having to lower the difficulty level (Compudoc this means you) really need to consider playing another type of game. Nothing too difficult in this one, but just hard enough (in places) to make it interesting. Good gameplay controls/mechanics and graphics make this a bit of a bargain game.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin5
Apr 12, 2015
If this is what "improved graphics" looks like, they must have been crap in the original. It feels like something from the 90's. Throw in the ridiculous jumping controls, the frustrating camera issues, and the fact that swords apparently break after running a dozen guys through, and you have a pretty ordinary game. It lives and breathes on its ability to make it hard, but that is achieved by nothing more than overpowered enemies at every turn, rather than anything at all thoughtful. The DS fanboys will love it, but serious gamers who have experienced quality games would do well to keep their wallets closed.

Bloodborne3
Mar 27, 2015
A game can be entertaining, amusing, challenging, but most of all it should be fun. Bloodborne, is visually beautiful in a Victorian squalid sort of way, but amusing it does not try to be, and entertaining it is not. This is due to the requirement that when a player dies, he must return to a previous point and kill the same respawned enemies all over again. As this game is populated with mini bosses - for the want of a better description - who are mostly overpowered compared to the player, the repetition of the play is downright tedious. I am all for a challenging game, but I prefer challenges to be in the form of puzzles, rather than the dumbed down versions achieved by having grossly overpowered enemies at every turn. Throw in the consequence of having to go back and do it all over again if one of them happens to kill you and you have a game that gets old very quickly. If it's too hard, perhaps co-op with a friend might ease the anxiety you think, but the co-op in this game is so obscure - like the story - you could be forgiven for thinking that there isn't any. Even then, you need to advance into the game quite a bit before co-op is possible, presuming you can discover how it works. For a game with such splendid graphics, it is really a shame that it is too repetitive and at times difficult, to be considered fun.

Overall, good fun to play. Games are meant to be fun after all. All these crap comments about story or colours or how many friends on their friend list are just nonsense. This game was on special on Playstation store for $25 and I got at least $50 worth of fun out of it.

Too lazy to develop new maps and make this a real game, the developers have just continued on from Sniper Elite, complete with the familiar glitches. This game is repetitious and ridiculously difficult in patches, but only through the sheer weight of numbers that come at you. Nothing clever, original or really entertaining in this, and the levels of gore are just over the top.

The Order: 18866
Mar 1, 2015
This game looks great and the story concept is a little Bioshock Infinite, but it fails badly due to the terrible control system. When I am fighting a Lycan with a knife, I don't want to be looking for different button prompts every few seconds. It is so annoying, I stopped playing after an hour or so and deleted it. With so many games now that have excellent controller layouts I wonder why something like this ever gets past quality control - perhaps they don't have any ?

Dying Light8
Feb 22, 2015
When I saw it was a zombie killer game I hesitated. Nice original theme - not. Nevertheless, I bought this game to fill in time while I was waiting for a pre-order to release, and now I am still playing it and haven't even looked at my other pre-ordered game. I hate the placement of the jump button, which goes against the norm, but then I noticed in another WB game I played recently that the controls looked like they were devised in the dark by a drunk. This seems to be an area that needs work in that developer's studio. Anyway, the game will tax your skills most of the time, and some parts are really difficult if you haven't paid attention to scavenging and upgrading weapons/skills. On that note, having to pick locks in order to get the better pickups is really annoying, especially when you get swarmed by zombies as you are halfway through a pick. We could have done without the lock picking bit. All in all, this is an absorbing game, with plenty of action, as you might expect, and should keep you entertained for many hours. Co-op is fun and helps in some of the more difficult parts too.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor7
Feb 15, 2015
A strange thing happened to me whilst playing this game - I got bored with it after playing about 75%. This has never happened before and I always play to the end, but this one just lost me. Sure there are some weaknesses, such as a weapon upgrade rune system that keeps rewarding me with useless runes way below my current level, and an inability to keep my character focused on the opponent during combat, but I think it was the repetition in every location and every quest that finally drained me of any interest. The graphics are very nice though.

Lords of the Fallen (2014)5
Jan 31, 2015
Mercifully, developers are starting to realise that the tedious boss fight at the end of each game is getting very old, and some of them have stopped doing it altogether. Not this piece of crap though. I didn't count them, but there are about ten bosses throughout the game, which means just as you are starting to settle into the block/evade/hit/block boredom, along comes another boss and usually at a grossly overpowered level. After my fourth such fight, I turned the game off and deleted it. Graphics are nice, but quite a few bugs and the sheer repetition just prevents it from ever being fun. Games are supposed to be fun after all.

Wolfenstein: The New Order6
Jul 15, 2014
This is one of the most frustrating shooters I have played, largely because of the stupid weapon wheel system, the variation in what takes an identical enemy down from one scene to the next, the tiresome and boring - but inevitable - boss fights, and the weapons that mostly felt underpowered for a time when robots and moon settlement are apparently the norm. I never play games for the "story", I play them because they are games, but I must say this one is probably the lamest story I have encountered for quite a while. On the plus side, it lasts for a good long while, especially if you are after the collectables and various trophies, though the graphics are no better than many I have seen on the PS3.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark5
Jul 11, 2014
The Transformers junkies will either love this simply because it is another serving of Transformers, with familiar characters, voices and weapons, or they will hate it because it is a rather sub-standard version of an otherwise excellent game series. I am in neither camp ; I would simply call it disappointing. This game reeks of haste and budgetary constraints. It could have been so much more. The escalation levels are pretty ordinary, but do provide some entertainment - that's if you can find anyone else to play with.

Good for a few nights, but tends to be very repetitive. Also too easy for the most part. I managed the platinum in 4-5 nights play. It has some very good points and variety over the previous versions though, and is well worth a look. Story isn't much, but these clowns who whine about the story in these games make me laugh. If you want a good story, buy a book. Games are for fun

Killzone: Shadow Fall6
Jun 23, 2014
So let me get this straight. The Vektans destroy Helgan and make it uninhabitable, so they give up half their own planet to the surviving Helgast because they were feeling sorry for them ? Talk about a crappy storyline. Anyway, I enjoyed the previous Killzone games but this one is pretty ordinary. Coupled with the new Sony controller which feels even less comfortable in the hand than the PS3 version and I am glad I got this as a freebie. Particularly annoying is the fact that I can't exchange the basic loadout assault rifle for something else, so I only have one variable weapon option. The OWL is fun to use, but seems to go missing quite often. If you are thinking of spending your money on this one, I wouldn't bother.

The Last of Us3
Jun 16, 2014
Was this rubbish really made in 2013 ? It feels 20 years older with its clunky inventory system and poor mechanics, not to mention the tired old "post apocalypse" storyline. A couple of the voice actors are very good, (Joel, Bill) but by and large, this is a very ordinary game. Perhaps the people at the developers should take a look at Dead Space, Bioshock, Crysis et al to see how a modern game should look and feel.
