Flying Wild Hog has topped their previous game, Hard Reset, in nearly every respect with Shadow Warrior. A myriad of beautiful environments, crazy but balanced and innovative combat, and a smoother difficulty curve prove that the Polish studio has graphical, level and gameplay design talent to spare. Don’t miss this one.

Shadow Warrior is highly 90’s in a very good way. Pace is fast, health kits are in, guns are powerful, action is great, puns are bad and there is lot of flying blood and boy parts. The letdown is level design: they are too bland. [Nov 2013]

This reboot of Shadow Warrior can be defined as the glorious return of a famous brand of the 90s, a brand remembered with great affection by the players of the time. This modern version deserves to be played in this very valuable new edition.

Shadow Warrior won’t win any awards for complexity. It’s a shamelessly self-confident return to the whiplash, blood’n'guts symphony of 90s-era shooters, but it salvages the low concept, and it’s own checkered legacy, with ironclad mechanics and the likable, if oafish, story it tells.

Shadow Warrior is an amazing game for fans of mindless destruction.

Shadow Warrior isn't free of some design flaws that can take away from the experience, but as an action game, its combat is solidly put together. While not the easiest to use, the various weapons and sword fighting combos you have really make you feel like a badass warrior whenever you pull off a gruesome decapitation.

Out of the three iterations in the franchise, the 1st one is by far my favorite, the gameplay is a little frustrating, but the game makes up for in good writing and vibe overall. The 3rd game though, is like a freshman vacation project which completely ruins a franchise.

Прошел классический шутер на движке от Дюка shadow warrior classic 1997 года (gog версию). Это один из триады классических шутанов на движке билд (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, shadow warrior), все приколы подобных игр присутствуют: куча прикольного оружия (всё более-менее полезное), куча интересных разнообразных локаций (однако много азиатских локаций с пагодами, мне норм, но те кто не любит знайте), много разных секретов на локах, голенькие спрайтовые аниме девочки. Игра не душная, всегда более-менее понятно куда идти. Однако, игра ощущается какой-то не такой насыщенной как тот же Дюк или блад, как будто качество уровней заменили количеством. Да и в целом я бы предпочел иного брата по разуму нежели shadow warrior, однако тру ретроману стоит пройти. Из приятного – по нынешним меркам игра крайне расистская, главный герой крайне карикатурный китаец, это прям выделяется и очень круто, ныне такого бы не сделали ни за что. В целом с кайфом прошел, всем любителям советую. P.S. Shadow warrior 2013 года на нее совсем не похожа конечно, только общей атмосферой может быть чуточку и героем китайцем.

Did not feel it was that Shadow Warrior as before. Good attempt though. Nice dynamism and humor. New story is interesting. Some details and episodes are quite predictable and, to be fair, extend the playtime in an artificial way. Still - worth checking, if you liked the original one.

I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion here. I enjoyed Flying Wild Hogs previous game, Hard Reset, but I've found it very hard to feel the same way for Shadow Warrior. I'm halfway through the game (on chapter 9 out of 17 I believe) and I am going to call it quits. Shadow Warrior is a arena based First-Person Hack and Slash. You're put in levels where you walk around until you get to an area. This area acts as arena because you have to kill all the enemies in it before you're allowed to move on to the next. These areas are never interesting or unique. They are just bald areas with boxes, building around the side, and corpses thrown around the ground. The best weapon by far is the Katana which I found to have very repetitive gameplay accompanying it. Each fight plays out the same and I never felt like I was making progress. I gain money to upgrade my weapons, skill points to upgrade abilities, and strange crystal things to upgrade powers. And yet, I never felt like the game was progressing. I personally feel that the game is highly overrated because it has a japanese setting and you can use a katana. It is simply a grind from slightly different arena to slightly different arena. If you're looking for a shooter, pass it up.
