By far the best PS1 rpg. And i have played them all, back when they were released. Too bad it was handled poorly by Konami, was released only in 50k copies in NA and wasn't released in Europe. The story is one of the best in any game to this day, music is great, the graphics are cute and have aged quite well considering it was on the PS1. The gameplay is very good for its time and genre. An underrated gem, if you can stomach the old graphics, you have to play it.

XCOM 24
Sep 18, 2016
I was very dissapointed by this game. I am a fun of the original XCOM games, and i played them to death as a kid. Especially Apocalypse, which in my personal opinion is the best of the franchise to date. I played the first game from 2K and while it was very "streamlined" (aka dumbed down), i kinda liked it. Not the best, but certainly a worthwhile experience for a playthrough or two. So, i was expecting to like this one as well, and i was VERY disappointed. At launch it was a broken mess, with ton of bugs, ran like **** on perfectly capable hardware. It is somewhat fixed today, with far better performance and not that many game-breaking bugs. Still, i don't understand why it has those steep hardware requirements. I am playing it at max settings and it doesn't look that much better compared to the first XCOM. As for the game, it is more or less the same thing, with more timers on missions and other minor changes and additions of some new enemies. Again, the changes are welcome, but insignificant. I believe Enemy Within expansion was a larger improvement to Enemy Uknown, than the sequel. And that says a lot. It is not a bad game by any means, but it is not a good one either. I am feeling cheated by this. You are better off just playing Enemy Within again. It is cheaper, more feature complete, requires a far cheaper computer to run it, and you won't notice much of a difference anyway. All in all, 4.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D10
Sep 18, 2016
Severely underrated game. I don't know what is wrong with the "professional" critics. Crapcom produces and publishes a metric ton of **** for more than a decade, but this is a little gem, a very good action game with very nice graphics. And the price is a steal. If you don't own it, go out and buy it, NAO.

BioShock: The Collection0
Sep 17, 2016
Three of the most overrated garbage games of all time, all in one package! Make no mistake, all 3 Bioshock games are just mediocre console FPSes with bad graphics, bad controls, stupid plots full of holes and run of the mill gameplay. I am fairly certain that those games, back when they were released, were just hyped based on paid reviews/shills and 12 year old kids who had never played an FPS before in their lives. "Spiritual successors to System Shock 2"? LOOOOOL. All 3 of those games are 7/10 games at the year of their release. Nothing more nothing less, just functional mainstream console FPS. Getting all 3 for the price of 1, is not bad, but make no mistake, on PC there is almost no improvement for Bioshocks 1 and 2, and Bioshock Infinite is exactly the same. So if you like your meh FPSes and like cheap deals, i suppose you could buy this if you have never tried them before. The rest of you, play any other FPS on the market, it is probably better.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past10
Sep 16, 2016
This is a remake of Dragon Quest VII on the PS1, one of the best in the series. For those unfamiliar with the series, Dragon Quest is one of the "big two" JRPG series, alongside Final Fantasy, but never had much success outside of Japan. The original DQVII was released very late on the PS1 life, and had bad outdated graphics and trashy controls. This made people avoid the title in favour of other rpgs, and in general DQVII was ignored by most. And that is a pity. Fast forward to 2016, and we can play the remake in the West, at last. And it is totally worth it: Great graphics, both in terms of engine and in terms of art style, great music, control improvements, gameplay improvements. The way it was meant to be played. If you have played a DQ game before, you know what to expect: Great story, charming characters, a lighthearted mood, tons of playtime and some grinding. The battles are the typical archaic JRPG battles, but for some reason they feel fresh and fast paced on this remake, so they won't bother you that much. I understand that the lower ratings come from people who don't like those archaic elements, and believe me, i hate those too, but for some reason i am always making an exception for Dragon Quest games: The typical jrpg battles are part of their appeal. One of the true gems on the 3DS, and a reason to own the console (at least until they port the game on other platforms). I am surprised at the relative low metascore. This game deserves more. So i am giving it a 10, and a recommendation if you own a 3DS and like RPGs. Don't miss this.

DOOM0
Sep 13, 2016
It is a nice tech demo for Vulkan, and not much more. It runs great at max settings. But the graphics didn't impress me much. The single player campaign is a borefest. You just follow the corridor, shoot generic enemies, and press F to finish them and get health and ammo. Repeat until the end. No story, minimal cutscenes, braindead enemy AI, and no freedom of exploration besides some "secret areas" for more ammo hp and armor. You will be bored very early in the game, unless Doom is your first FPS game ever. Multiplayer is nothing special, and will be forgotten soon. Overall, not worth it at full price.

Sep 10, 2016
Greatly overrated. Monster hunter is only good if you are a kid with tons of free time and have a close circle of friends to play multiplayer with. Otherwise, there is nothing of value here. As a single player experience, this is a boring grind with no story. There is no real challenge, you don't need to be smart to win, just have a lot of time in your hands to grind and gather stuff. The graphics are meh and the controls on the 3DS are total garbage without the add on. All in all, totally overrated. Get this if you are a japanese fanboy and don't know any better about good western games, otherwise, skip it.

Another overrated japanese trash by Atlus. You can count on them to always disrespect the player's time, making very cheap games with little effort on their part and just padding them with endless brainless boring grinding, because they can. Then they can advertise "hundrends of hours of gameplay". Yeah right. If you somehow don't value your life and your time, you can play this. I suppose it is better than just starring at a wall. The rest of us can play decent games.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D0
Sep 10, 2016
One of the most overrated and overhyped Zelda games of all time. Hipster trash. This game was a Nintendo experiment to find out how little they can invest in making a new "AAA" game and getting away with it. On the N64 it just recycled and re-arranged all the assets of Ocarina of time, with minor additions/alterations. They didn't want to waste time making new levels, so they introduced a ton of backtracking and justified it with a "turn back time" gimmick. They padded a very small game to last for many boring and frustrating hours. Then called it "innovation". Suprisingly, it failed back then. I say suprisingly, because Nintendo fans aren't known for being smart or having good taste in games, in general. After all, if they knew any better, they wouldn't have bought a N64 in the first place, for just 2-3 good games. Still, it was so **** it failed and was forgotten. Then, as it always happens with hipsters and with the help of some manufactured hype after the Ocarina 3DS remake, somehow opinions that Majora's mask was an underrated gem surfaced. Counting on kids having never played the original back in the day, and adults having forgotten. And we got this, in the same way we got it on the N64: A recycled game from Ocarina of time 3DS. With some improvements to hide the fact that this game is a polished POS. Games like this are the equivalent of taking a turd, puting a ribbon on it, placing it on a museum and calling it "modern art". Hipsters should buy it 5x times in order to learn, the rest of us should play better games. Avoid.

Xenoblade Chronicles0
Sep 10, 2016
One of the most overrated and overhyped games of the last generation, now on the New 3DS! This is final fantasy wannabe with mediocre story and bland, boring gameplay. I can understand how this scored highly on the Wii, after all Wii had no good RPGs (or games in general), so in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king and all that. But this doesn't mean that the game was good, it wasn't. The only really cool thing about the game was the setting, but a setting can't carry a 80hour slog on its own. The port is mediocre, as expected, and requires a New 3DS for no reason. The original 3DS is more than capable of playing this, as evidenced by other games playable on the O3DS, like the Monster Hunters. Nintendo used the lame excuse of "needing more power to run it" in order to sell more consoles. Which is disgusting, but that is Nintendo greed for you. The good thing is that we didn't need to play this anyway. Skip it. If you just don't value your life and your time, play it on PC using Dolphin. Thank me later.

Sep 10, 2016
A very mediocre fighting game that is extremely overrated and overhyped by Nintendo fangirls. In typical Nintendo fashion, they keep milking their trash on every console they can, with minor changes, and the gullible fangirls keep spending their cash filling up Nintendo's vast coffers. There is nothing of value in this game. It is very boring. It is worthwhile only in very small bursts, playing multiplayer with your friends. Thus, if you don't own a better gaming platform like a PC or a PS4, and you just have to buy it, get it on the Wii U at least.

Sep 10, 2016
There are 2 possible reasons this overrated trash got such high metacritic scores from so called "professionals": 1) They never completed this game. After all, this game is huge, and we all know reviewers play their games on easy and never spend more than 2-3 hours before writing a review. I suppose if you look only at the first few hours, this game is a blast. It managed to deceive me too. 2) They were bribed, or scored it highly because of Square and Nintendo The game has good production values, nice visuals and really nice music. It is a blast to play early on, and the gameplay system is not bad at all. But, the problem with this game is that: 1) It is a boring grindfest. It is very long to properly complete, very repetitive with tons of backtracking. And most random encounters are boring, you can disable them but if you do, you won't be strong enough for the bosses. 2) The story is typical kiddie anime trash. With some added weeaboo waifu perversion. As an adult gamer, i cringed a lot. Also, i didn't like the village minigame it had. All in all, a solid 60 game that somehow exploded on metacritic for no reason. Giving it a 0 for balance.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth0
Sep 10, 2016
Totally overrated Etrian Odyssey clone with a Persona skin. As is typical with the various trash Atlus produces, kids and weeaboos swallow these things and hype them to oblivion, while an experienced adult gamer is looking in disgust. Etrian Odyssey games are boring grindfests with absolutely no challenge at all. The only thing they require is a kid with tons of free time and a love for completing repetitive tasks for hundrends of hours, in order to proceed. The only thing "missing" from the usual jrpg recipe was a story, so Persona Q adds a Persona story, which is cheesy and cringe-worthy but better than nothing. The game has good production values, suprizing for Atlus, but i suppose after getting so much money from gallible weeaboos in the past, they could afford to spend a little more on development this time. Still, the game is a chore and not worth your time. Avoid.

Sep 10, 2016
Mediocre game with nice graphics and production value, but with some framerate issues and unresponsive controls on the 3DS. The original Donkey Kong Country was fun 22 years ago, but let's be frank, it sold mostly on its graphics, even back then. Those were the main attraction, the gameplay was nothing special even by '94 standards. So how come this remake which is more or less the same thing with updated graphics, and its inferior port on the handheld, get so high reviews? Is it Nostalgia? Is it the Nintendo brand name? What? This game is totally overrated, and unless you just love platformers, you can safely skip it. And if you own a Wii, definitely get it on the Wii, as the port is bad.

Pokemon Y0
Sep 10, 2016
Overrated archaic jrpg. Pokemon games have stayed relatively the same gameplay wise after 20 years, with minor insignificant additions that don't fundamentally change anything. You have to understand that this kind of gameplay was acceptable back in the 80s and early 90s on the NES and SNES consoles, but gaming has advanced a lot since then. On Gameboy the 1st generation was a success mostly because of the fun concept of monster catching and the anime, as a game even back then it was nothing special, little more than a fad. That after 20 years, Nintendo has kept remaking the same archaic concept with minor additions and just upgrading the graphics, and the gullible masses keep buying this stuff, is buffling to me. Hugely overrated, and if you are older than 12 and still play Pokemon, something is wrong with you. I can play cute games just fine, it is not the presentation that is the issue, it is the gameplay. How can you find something so simplistic and easy/unchallenging, mentally stimulating, if you are an adult?

The first New Super Mario bros was fun. This, was not that fun, for some reason i can't exactly pinpoint because it was so boring i don't care to revisit it again. Sep 10, 2016
The whole Metal Gear Solid series is overrated. The original on the PS1 was a good title, mostly in terms of presentation. It was groundbreaking at that time, showcasing a movie-like video game to the masses for the first time. The rest of the series while not totally bad, is greatly overrated and carried by the brand and hype instead of gameplay or story. Metal Gear Solid 3 was no exception, a very average and overrated PS2 game that got a worse port on the 3DS, with bad controls and framerate issues. In my opinion there is no reason to play this, but you could play worse games than this. Get it if you are a hardcore Metal Gear Fan who somehow lived under a rock and missed Snake Eater on the PS2, or you just have to play it on a handheld.

Overrated adventure game. Maybe kids might find it interesting, but having played many classic adventure games, i find this a very bad game and a waste of time: 1) The story is bad. Sure, you can have multiple endings, but this doesn't matter when the story is childish. Anime fans might like it more 2) Gameplay is easy, the puzzles are really easy with a few exceptions. There is nothing to really challenge you in this game 3) The game is tedious. It takes very long to read all the text and proceed the game, and the easy puzzles just serve to pad the game time and nothing more. Add to that a story that is totally uninteresting, and you have a disaster in your hands that you have no reason to bother with. Totally overrated by the typical weeaboo cult who swallows anything japanese without question. Save your money and time.

This is one of the sadest 3DS games to review: It has nice production values, it is charming, and is a game i really wanted to like. But it is totally unplayable because of the controls. Especially if you are left handed like myself. I never understood why Nintendo never released a patch to at least give left handed people the option to invert controls. Did they never playtested this thing? Are all their beta testers right handed? WTF? I am sorry, but if you game has totally abysmal controls, and on top of that it has even worse controls for almost half the population, then no matter the graphics or cool gameplay you put in your game, your game is trash.

Horribly underrated SRPG (though the RPG part is very light). From the creator of XCOM. By far the best launch game for the console, was ignored and underrated by the "professional" critics because as we all know by now, they are overpaid morons. This ended up with the game having abysmal sales, so we will never get a sequel. Nice job reviewers! Nice job... If you like tactics games like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, XCOM, and others, you should give this one a try. Has a decent story and quite good gameplay. The multiplayer is very fun, and you can play multiplayer taking turns on the same console with your friends. I have had tons of fun playing it this way. The graphics are not very good, but this is to be expected as this was originally made for the DS, then they decided to bring it to the 3DS instead, since they were very late on the DS cycle. The story is also forgetable. It is kind of fun, and it is one of the few "mature" "real life"-like stories on the 3DS, but nothing to care much about. It works though. Still, you don't play tactical games for the graphics or story. You play them for the gameplay. And this game has good gameplay. You can find it cheap today, and i totally recommend it. Somewhat boring. I expected more. Don't get me wrong, this is a good Mario Kart game, and totally worthwhile to own if you have a 3DS. But they didn't give it their best, and it shows. As it stands, it is your typical franchise sequel: Better graphics, a few gameplay additions here and there, but overall, if you have played prior games in the franchise, this game gets stale fast. Worth it to own for some good Mario Kart multiplayer. But this is not among the best 3DS games, and i hope Nintendo makes a better effort for the next gen version.

One of the best 3D Marios, and one of the best games to play on the 3DS. I don't know why the user score for it is so low, this game is really good. I grew up with the original Super Mario Bros trilogy as a kid, on the NES. Super Mario Bros 3 was my favourite game for many years. I stopped caring for Mario much since the PS1 generation, but this game really made me happy and woke up memories. It has plenty of levels and secrets, satisfying platforming, good use of 3D (though you can play it without it just fine), incredible music, it is lengthy enough but ideal for short bursts of gameplay. It has very nice graphics and smooth animations. It is has very good replayability, and it can be hard in later levels, but never punishing. It is also very charming with the usual Super Mario charm, and features elements from Super Mario Bros 3 like musical themes. Those brought a tear to my eye. Never though small things like this could bring back childhood memories. All in all, this is a must have game if you own a 3DS.

One of the best games on the 3DS, and my personal favourite. Severely underrated by people who should never get paid to write "professional" reviews again, ever. This game is the complete package: It has incredible graphics with a unique style, charming music, good gameplay with many things to do, cute story. It is kind of an Open World RPG, the closest thing to Skyrim you can get on a 3DS. It has great production values, and is very cute and full of joy. It put a smile on my face. I really enjoyed it, and i am a 33 year old man with tons of "gritty" experience, both in my life and in games. It is not without faults, it can get very repetitive, the main story is not hard, and there is grinding if you want to 100% it. But as far as 3DS games go, those faults aren't that important. Don't let the "kiddie" graphics and story fool you, this game can be enjoyed by the whole family, including adults! Give it a try, you might like it!

One of the most underrated games of the generation. Shows you what a joke is "gaming journalism". This game is one of the best hack and slash games i have ever played. It has incredible graphics and is extremely optimized, has nice keyboard and mouse controls, satisfying and gory combat, and a nice story. It is not very long, but it is replayable. Sure, this game is no masterpiece, but it is one of the best on its genre. You don't do much, just hack and slash increasingly more difficult enemies, and proceed to the next corridor. But 99% of the modern AAA games are similar, yet no one complains. How come God of War can get stellar reviews and this was buried by the same reviewers? Same on you, "professionals". This game is a 8/10, giving it a 10 to counter the ****.

This is a tech demo and nothing more. The gameplay is bland and uninteresting. The story is forgetable. You will play this only for admiring the view and showcasing your hardware. Just play the original Crysis if you want a good FPS. And install 3D mark if you want a good tech demo.

Crysis 20

This abomination was the beginning of the end for Crytek. That is what you get Crytek for signing a contract with the Devil (Nvidia). This game served more as a tech demo/benchmark, biased in favour of Nvidia gpus (google about the infamous tesselation issue for more info), to make AMD gpus look bad. That was its main purpose on PC. As a game, it is nothing like the original in almost every way. It is a much worse game, with no freedom at all, bad gunplay, and just a boring single player experience. This is a corridor shooter, with worse graphics than its 4 years older predecessor. Story is somewhat stupid as well. The graphics at release were a joke, requiring a better computer for displaying more restricted areas with poorer detail. Later patched for DX11, they improved a lot, but still the original looked better in my opinion. Bad game, there is no need to play it at all. Just play the original Crysis and its expansion and forget the sequel existed.

Crysis Warhead9

Standalone expansion pack of Crysis. Worse than the original game, but not by much. Still worth playing. The game was considered more "optimized" than its predecessor, on which i disagree, it just had uglier graphics. They toned them down a little because little kids with old toasters complained about their framerates. It is hilarious that back in the day, and 300+$ gpu could run it maxed out in decent resolutions, and modern day 300$ gpus have trouble running modern console ports in anything higher than 1080p maxed out. And no one complains about it. But i digress. The game is not much differerent than the original Crysis, but i didn't like the gameplay as much. It is worth a playthrough if you own the original, otherwise, skip it and play the original first instead.

Crysis10

Great game for its time. The last AAA game that tried to push the envelope. It was so ahead of its time in engine and graphics, that today, after almost 9 years, it can still stand on its own side by side to the latest next gen games. The graphics and general production values are top notch. But the gameplay is also very good and satisfying. It is no Deus Ex, but offers some freedom in how you tackle each situation, has good gunplay, and satisfying enemies. The story is the usual FPS story fare, but it works. Many people call this a tech demo. Those people are morons. Just because a game has impressive graphics, doesn't mean it was only a tech demo. This is a good game. Minus thing, is the AI, which is kind of braindead. Still, when 5 and a half year after its release, Bioshock infinite managed a 94 metacritic score while having worse graphics and gameplay, makes me shake my head... You can get it cheap now, and any modern gaming pc can max it out. So give it a shot, if you haven't already. 9/10, giving it a 10 to counter the fools with no taste in games.

Far Cry 22
Sep 9, 2016
One word description: Trash. This game was overrated to the extreme. It is easily the worst Far Cry game in the series. Everything from the graphics to the story to the gameplay were overrated and overhyped, even back in 2008. Just don't play this, ever.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition9
Sep 9, 2016
Great underrated RPG, for its time. I fallen in love by the time i tried the demo version. The graphics were really good for the standards of the era, dialogue was mature and believable, story and setting seemed really great (it was Witcher after all), and it was an RPG game during a period when they had began getting out of fashion. It has many flaws, and especially today, this game is difficult to recommend. The graphics while still good, are nowhere near modern standards, and the gameplay may seem slow, boring and tedious. Still, it is worth a playthrough, especially if you want to play the Witcher 3. In my opinion, this is a better game and RPG than Witcher 2, considering the 4 year difference.

Mass Effect9

The last truly great Bioware game. The only game in the Mass effect series that could claim it was an RPG, albeit a light one. It is not without faults, but it was great at the time of its release, and if you haven't played it, or the trilogy, you owe it to yourself to get it, you won't regret it, trust me. The only real problem this game had, was the mako levels. My God! Other than that, great game.

Fallout 39
Sep 9, 2016
Back when it was released, it was really fun. As a Fallout series fan since the original, i was very eager to play this. While not a true Fallout 2 sequel, it was fun and immersive, and i enjoyed it despite its faults. Make no mistake, this is little more than Oblivion with guns, but at least it doesn't have the level scaling... The story is mediocre, there are few memorable characters, and the game is not that hard or complex to play, but it is fun to explore the capital wasteland, and back in the day, when the PS360 era was fairly new, this game was revolutionary. So, all in all, while i wouldn't replay it today, i believe it was worth the praise it got, despite tis faults.

Dawn of Discovery5

Boring and deceptive game. I really wanted to like this. It has amazing graphics, good music, and it is charming. I wanted so bad to like this because i liked games like Settlers in the past. But this game is bad. The main issue with this game, is that there is really no freedom or creativity in strategy/city building. You have to min-max your cities in a certain pre-determined way, especially at higher difficulties. The game may seem complex at first, but it is not, this is not a strategy game, this is a puzzle game. Once you figure out how to layout your cities and in what order to build your production chains, the game gets very repetitive and unfun. And this leads to the next problem, this game is complex but is not deep. If you need to make some army units and need weapons, you will need to make whole production chains in order to make those weapons, but this is just busy work. The difference between just making a "base" in Age of Empires to make units, and making a whole production chain to make the same units in Anno, is just that it takes more time and takes memorization of the chains, nothing more. In the end, this game is a colossal waste of time. Fun to look at, but very shallow experience. Avoid.

One of the most fun "little" games ever. I must have completed its campaign 3-4 times. If you somehow live under a rock and haven't played this game, get it ASAP. Totally recommended. It is very addicting and fun!

Empire: Total War10
Sep 9, 2016
The best Total war, the pinnacle of the series. One of the rare occasions where official reviewers scored it right. Don't get me wrong, the launch was attrocious, i remember it clearly, i had pre-ordered it. And CA should pay for this blatant disregard for the customer. But as a game, this was a masterpiece. And today, after the patches it received, it is perfectly playable and fun. Many people don't seem to appreciate this game, because they were used to the more arcade-y battles of previous installments. You know, just click on units and charge!. Well, Empire Total War does a really good job with its battle system, portraing the battles of its era. You need proper tactics, and positioning is key. Morale is everything. The battles are more chess-like, like in real life Napoleonic-era battles. You need to take care of not breaking your battlelines, while breaking the opponents, causing morale shocks, and eventually routing him. This takes knowledge of how the units work, and how to position your units properly. I write these things because many people think this game had bad battles, because they tried to play those battles like Medieval II and Rome. I did at first too, i know. In the end, this is the best gunpowder era game we have. If you love maskets and cannons, and want a really great empire management game with cool tactical battles, this game is for you. This was much better than Rome and Medieval II, Napoleon and Shogun II began the downward spiral of casualisation. This spiral began because people complained about Empire. Careful what you wish for people, you didn't like the realism of Empire, Rome II is what you eventually got.

Dragon Age: Origins5
Sep 9, 2016
Overrated action RPG trying to exploit the Baldur's gate nostalgia of fans, posing as a "spiritual successor" to it, but being a mediocre console game. People seem to think that Dragon Age series got worse with II and Inquisition, but trust me, true Bioware fans like me were enraged with Origins. This is a bad game. It is not a deep RPG, more like RPG-lite. The combat system is tedius, boring, and lacks true strategy and tactics. The game is long and has good content, but the story is trash and the various "twists" are telegraphed hours away. It has good romancing options, but who plays video games for "romancing options"? Seriously? All in all, it is a good RPG-lite, with nice production values, that will satisfy you, but it is far away from a master piece. It signaled the downward spiral of Bioware after its acquisition from EA. True RPG experts knew when the played origins, that Bioware as we knew it was gone. This is a 8/10 game, considering 2009 standards. I am giving it a 5, to lower the average.
