There’s always a man. There’s always a city. There’s always a lighthouse. And there’s always a reason to revisit one of the finest trilogies in the modern gaming.

A modern masterpiece flanked by an okay sequel and a round-off that still delights. This isn’t the Big Daddy of PS3 trilogies, but it’s a circus of value. [December 2016, p83]
Despite there being no real improvements or enhancements to any of these games, it is hard to deny the quality of these three games. The BioShock franchise consists of three of the best games we have seen in the past decade and these are the best versions you can get of them. There isn't much in new content but the base content of this collection alone is an incredible value.

Not really a memorable experience. All of the games failed to hold my interest.

At a reduced price, Blind Squirrel offers a complete edition of the Bioshock trilogy, with all additional content released so far: the offer is attractive for old and new fans, enriched with many graphical improvements: finally Rapture can be explored at 60 frames per second on consoles too.

There’s no denying that the Bioshock series is an ambitious one, and that it features some much loved/derided games. Bioshock Collection is the current definitive way to experience those games on consoles, but there’s little new for long-term fans beyond a bit of spit n’ polish.

Bioshock the Collection is an incredible package quality-wise. 2K made some history of videogames with this series and offering it in a graphically improved package for the price of one AAA title feels just right.

Even though The Bioshock Collection is filled with content, it is far from perfect. Technically speaking there are a lot of bumps on the road and the gameplay simply is not Bioshocks strong suit. However, the design is amazing.

A not engaging story meets a dumb gameplay. At least each game is short, so the waste of time ends quickly. Special mention to the machine pirating mechanics, where some of the pannels are just impossible to do. Not difficult, just mathematically impossible. So you have to keep trying until a new, do-able pannel appears, consumming your time with this nonsense.

Play the originals on PC if you want a HD version of Bioshock, or just enjoy the console originals on last-gen. While the collection introduces sharper textures and higher framerate/resolution on consoles, these changes come at the expense of almost all special effects, from lighting to smoke, grit and underwater volume. Voice recordings have been messed up, sound effects and ambient music have been compressed to lack reverb. This leads to a flat, less atmospheric "remaster" that fixes what nobody asks for at the expense of what everybody lauded; and if you don't believe me, just watch the side-by-sides by Digital Foundry (beware spoilers). Do yourself a favor - if you've never played these but are planning to, do NOT play them like this.
