What a disappointing mess. A clear case where one's focus on political agenda rather than strong storytelling got in the way. By the end, this movie becomes annoyingly inconsistent and incoherent. Tries to say something but is about as deep as a puddle.
Worst third act I have seen in some time. The first two thirds of this film are intriguing but does it ever flush itself down the toilet in the third act Really awful.
This movie is trying to present an insightful political dystopia but instead offers up an inane, silly and at times frustratingly stupid plot. You have to have a ridiculous tape playing in your head in order to find any of it convincing or illuminating.
If you are looking for a B movie blast **** time, this one is for you. With a budget of only 7 million, they still managed to create more fun than the last 4 or 5 Jurassic Park movies combined.
Sadly this film looks to be stitched together from six or seven different movies. It simply does not work as a film. It does however kick ass from time to time.
The Final Reckoning possesses a complex plot that supplies adrenaline inducing intrigue and suspense throughout. There are not one but two huge action sequences that simply outshine anything found in any other franchise. This is cinema meant for the big screen…the biggest and loudest you can find. This is not simply the last Mission Impossible movie, but probably the last of its kind.
Every change from the original source material takes this movie in the wrong direction. Nothing about it is inspired or creative. It is hackneyed and exactly what you would expect from Disney in 2025.
Rather pedestrian given writing that appears to embrace cliches and sentiment more than anything else. Plus, the more I see of Millie the less I care to watch.
Simply one of the best action movies ever made. Everything in this movie is done well. The practical stunts, script, acting, pacing are all on point with this one.
Nothing in this movie works well or is believable. This thing is so filled with plot holes that you simply can't focus on the characters or story because you are so distracted by them.
The film does a good job of exposing the silly money making industry that has evolved in the wake of well intentioned affirmative action. It is funny and even down right hilarious at times. That said, I think if the doc were to take itself more seriously, who knows, it may have offered up a more meaningful and thought provoking treatise on how race is impacting our discussions today. But yes, it does a good job of taking down the silly, I just wish it had higher aspirations.
One's suspension of disbelief gets stretched and stretched further as conflicts grows between the entirely good characters and the entirely bad characters in more convoluted and improbable circumstances till you simply stop caring.
Just caught this one and given what I have been watching over the past two years out of Hollywood, this movie demonstrated clearly what is missing: a well told story, nothing over the top, no extreme emotionalism and no damn agenda other than getting the story right. A highly underappreciated historical drama. I mean compare it with Napoleon.
This movie made me tired. Several scenes seemed to go on and on and on diminishing whatever suspension of disbelief I kept struggling to hold onto. In the end, I was just tired and happy it was finally over.
Lack of any sort of character development makes this an odd experience. It is as if the people in this move were reduced to simple disposable characters in a video game. In fact most of the characters are more 'types' than they are human.
This is a mess of a film. Scenes are disjointed and characterizations feel completely disconnected from any historical fact. Main characters have little to no agency so you basically never get to know them or care for them. It is simply a series of events and the characters are merely set pieces in the action. One of the worst movies I have had to endure in the past 10 years.
Product placement is one thing but this movie takes it to an uncomfortable place. I guess when you get a product and link it with vapid themes or ideas, you get a hit movie. Definitely a movie that announces that consumerism is very healthy. This movie is about as deep as a puddle and anyone finding the ideas presented thought provoking should try reading.
I felt the length of the movie. While the production value is off the charts, one does come out of the theatre wondering if the script could not have been trimmed and made more economical. Yes, the movie got me thinking but it did not get me feeling anything. Was expecting Nolan to do both.
M:I-7 is a huge, thrilling beast of a film that possesses humor, suspense, tension, incredible and extended action pieces and surprising amount of heart. The style and tone of this movie harkens back to those movies made in the 40's, 50's and 60's. This one relies more heavily on twists and turns than it does on gore.
A tad too silly and yet not nearly funny as it should be. There are a couple of moments where the action is quite impressive and inventive. But those moments are drowned in a boring whirlpool of old, cliché filled action that has been done better elsewhere. The longer it went on, the less I cared about what was going on.
