Captain America: Brave New World

Granted, the pleasures offered in “Captain America: Brave New World” are neither grand nor groundbreaking, but they’re consistent and earned.

Even for its flaws, Captain America: Brave New World feels like the series may be finding its soul again.

Captain America: Brave New World, the fourth title to co-opt the “Captain America” name and the first to star Anthony Mackie in the role, is another example of how badly unmoored the MCU has become in an era of unfamiliar heroes and stalled storylines.

A committed Anthony Mackie and a game Harrison Ford deserve better than this sadly superficial excuse for a 'Captain America' film whose troubled production is written all over its face.

It’s as if someone had gently ladled a teaspoon of artificial political-thriller flavor over a substandard Marvel movie, being oh-so-careful as to not upset corporate overlords or the status quo. A better title might have been Captain America: Business as Usual.

Brave New World is a bunch of characters wandering around in search of meaning, the Marvel machine creaking loudly as it tries to whip up some grand mythos around these B-tier figures.

This is a movie of pussyfooting and sidestepping, unconcerned with race, history, heroism or really any idea at all beyond “Hulk smash.”

"Captain America: Brave New World" is a completely mid film, it is not bad, but comparing with some other movies from Marvel, specially from the Second Phase from UCM, it lacks in many aspects, like a good conflict, action and a decent final.

I don't understand the dislike towards Captain America: Brave New World. It might not achieve high MCU standards, but it is not a bad film. Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford deliver great performances in this slow-paced, inside-government, undercover-espionage, above-the-skies movie.

As a fan of Marvel comics, movies and Anthony Mackie, this thing is an abomination. No pun intended. I mean… wow. Finishing it felt like work. There was literally nothing entertaining in this movie. Not even the action scenes in which an invincible Captain America defies all logic and physics to defeat… anything. Everything. What is meant to be fun about that? This should be shown as an example to “do the opposite” of every scene, most especially the constant undercutting of any emotion or seriousness with lame “jokes” that try todrum up humor from nowhere. No writer should have been paid for this. Seriously. It’s not professional work.

I fail to see how this is a "brave new world" when we have a knock off Captain America, a knock off Hulk, and a higher focus on in world politics. Not sure how this is a "New World"
