Disintegration6
Jun 27, 2020
Disintegration is the exact definition of a middleware title. It just shows up and isn't terrible, but also isn't blowing your socks off or anything either. Hell I can even see people loving this game; just not me. This first person shooter drops you into a world where humans put their consciousness into robots and of course evil robots are trying to take control. That's basically the crux of the story. You play as this robot who flies around on this hovercraft that has machine guns attached to it. Sounds cool right? It is until you also have to play nanny to the ground troops and that is where the fun turns into stress. You need to keep these a-holes alive so the entire game turns into this escort mission that seems to drag on forever. Surely you get to fight interesting enemies right? No somehow in this world of robo-people every enemy looks the same with a dash of color to make them "different". Last thing to bring up is the online which is 4 vs 4 matches that take the babysitting from the story and adds it to multiplayer. I was never so overwhelmed while playing a multiplayer game in my life. If you nails this down you will dominate against idiots like me who can't multitask to save their life. It isn't terrible, but if you really need to check it out I would wait for it to be $10 at least.

Bleeding Edge7
Jun 27, 2020
Xbox Game Pass introduced us to Ninja Theory's answer to Overwatch Bleeding Edge. I wanted to emphasize on the Game Pass because I do believe if it wasn't for that no one would be playing this game. This game checks off all the boxes for an Overwatch clone. It has crazy looking characters check. It has fairly decent game play check. It has a compelling world? No I couldn't tell you about the world because unlike Overwatch it didn't want you to know nor care about the world of Bleeding Edge. I also feel like the characters are less then balanced. For example some attack characters can win any one on one fight, while some can barely do anything in a group fight. Another thing holding this game back is lack of modes. I only played two different game modes which got tiresome after 3 hours. The biggest failing of this game for me was the matches themselves. Unless your team was all 100% clear on the objective they mostly ran around like idiots just doing their own thing the entire time. I'm not saying that doesn't happen in literally every online game, but it did seem very prevalent in Bleeding Edge for some reason.

Have you ever wanted to be Jaws, but like a mutant weird one? If so NICE, and this game is for you. It is essentially a shark RPG a SharkPG. At first this game is truly something to admire, but after a couple of hours in the game already starts to feel repetitive. Munching on the AI as a killer shark is amazing the constant hunters and "bigger fish" gets old quick. It isn't bad and if you can get it for like $30 you won't regret it in the slightest.

Minecraft Dungeons5
Jun 26, 2020
Are you into Minecraft? I mean are you really into Minecraft and know all the lore that goes with it? If so this game is for you. I am not into any Mining or Crafting (which neither exist in this game) so this came off to me as the most generic dungeon crawler I've seen in a minute. This game has a story I didn't care enough to pay attention. The combat is like a bare version of Diablo. It misses the mark that Diablo has with the addictiveness of it. Diablo is so addictive I'm now thinking about playing it. This game was just a game I was playing to get through while listening to a podcast. Furthermore you can beat it in a afternoon if you want to. If you have Game Pass on the Xbox give it a try otherwise fully skip this game it isn't worth your time.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated4
Jun 26, 2020
Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom is back and to be honest I never knew this game existed in the first place. This game looks nice for what it is being a remaster of an old Xbox game... that's the extent of what I can say about this game. The story basically isn't there Planton's robots take over and it is up to you as Spongebob and friends to do something. It was never really clear what that something was. That'd be fine and dandy if the game was fun. It is just a generic plat-former that offers nothing new or interesting to the mix. I understand if you played this as a kid the nostalgia that must exist for you. If you are like me and missed it entirely skip this even $30 is asking a bit too much for this game.

The Last of Us Part II9
Jun 26, 2020
It is a damn shame this game got review bombed for no reason at all. If you like video games and more importantly if you like The Last of Us then this is a game you must buy. It is a damn near perfect game that only falls apart for me with the ending which I will not spoil. I will say it could be cut down to size. The game is a bit too long for the story it is telling, but other then that unless you have great graphics, killer game play and a score that fits not only this game but the world it is in. So if you hate fun and hate playing a girl like the weirdos review bombing it then buy this game you won't regret it.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps8
Jun 6, 2020
I am very happy Metrovania games are making a come back and Ori and the Will if the Wisps is exactly that. If you have Game Pass this is a no brainer but to play it. Now for money we get a bit dicey, because if you aren't all about side scrolling, puzzle platforming games then this is a definite pass. The game isn't easy even if it looks all cute and cuddly it is rather challenging. I personally got very upset at a couple of parts due to the timing of some of the jumps. That being said I still love the world and the characters. You end up caring about Ori so hardcore even though he doesn't ever say a word. This is a prime example on how to do cute animals without giving them a stupid voice or some dumb catch phrase. The story is very compelling to the point that even when the game is frustrating you want to just keep going to see what happens next. This game also has a ton to do in it. Enough side missions to keep one busy, or if you're so incline you can just shoot for the ending the side missions are actually optional. I give the game credit because I think that some games lost sight of that at some point. Anyways this game is beautiful and fun to play I think that if you're looking for a non-shooter style game Ori and the Will of the Wisps is something to look at.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered7
May 20, 2020
Modern Warfare 2 is back on the PS4 for $20. To keep this shot and too the point if you like the story of Modern Warfare 2 then you should buy it. It is that simple. The game graphics are a super overall or anything it is basically a $20 port with new trophies to earn. There is no multiplayer which is whatever honestly Call of Duty has that covered in so many different ways. I personally think even if you like the campaign mode of the second game still wait for a sale $20 seems a bit much for this 10-15 is way more reasonable.

Predator: Hunting Grounds5
May 20, 2020
I just want to say this now I am a huge Predator fan. I quote the first movie like I was in the damn thing. This game will give you all the love of that first movie to make you go watch it all over again. The game for those who don't know is a four one one multiplayer game. You can play the marines or the Predator itself. The marines game play while vanilla is still fun. You have to complete your objectives while being hunter by another player who is the Predator. Now if you aren't being hunted that often the match will be over quick and it isn't fun. If your Predator is some kid with ADHD who just runs at you it isn't that fun as the marines either. It only works if they are messing with you and picking your team a part piece by piece. The Predator game play is a stupid amount of fun. You do feel like a Predator if you do it right. I am a bad Predator most of the time. I constantly got seen and would be happy to kill just one player. Now I said most of the time. The few times I was on my game it was the greatest experience of the entire game. The thing is $40 for essentially one game mode with no story mode to speak of is very steep. On top of the lack of replay value the game also doesn't look that great. I could compare it to a late in life PS3 game then a current gen console game. I just wish there was more to this. I want more Predator and unfortunately this game drops the ball. It ends up being a pass because of it.

Final Fantasy VII Remake7
May 20, 2020
Final Fantasy VII remake part one is out and if you are like me and never played one before where else is a better place to start right? For the first 10 hours I definitely agreed with that statement like no other. Then the game kept going and going, and going. Normally a long game isn't bad it is more game for your buck nothing wrong with that. Final Fantasy however was having me do thing that felt so much like filler I could fit it in a JRPG pie. It didn't help I couldn't stand the characters or their dialog. The only thing keeping me going was the plot (when it progressed) and the combat. When you do fight it is fun and satisfying. I did enjoy every encounter I was in. I enjoyed the bug nuts boss fights even more. I do believe this could've been a wonderful game if they just trimmed it. Their sad attempt to get me to care about these characters with constant unnecessary dialog that bored the crap out of me only made me hate them more. If you love JRPG's this game is for you it is a very well made game. If you are like me and never really got into them for one reason or another Final Fantasy VII remake isn't going to change your mind anytime soon.

Resident Evil 34
May 20, 2020
Resident Evil 3 is one of the prettiest games that aren't for me that I have ever played. I really wish I could enjoy myself while playing Resident Evil 3, but the Nemesis makes that damn near impossible. The game without this thing chasing you is rather fun and suspenseful. When he shows up it become hectic and for me very frustrating. I understand that is the point of it but for me that isn't fun having an unkillable enemy just chasing me around until I reach the area he can't. I wish I could love this game I really do, but I couldn't finish it without wanting to break a controller. If high stress games aren't for you, or if having creatures you can't stop chasing you aren't for you I would say pass. I definitely should have.

DOOM Eternal9
May 20, 2020
The sequel to 2016 Doom is out and this is how you make a sequel. Everything and I do mean everything has been turned up to 11. The kills are more brutal the story is more present and the soundtrack brings 10 times the metal. Seriously when this game is going and you are in the thick of it with that music booming you get a blood lust like no other. The game however has some downers to it. The first person platform sections are so annoying I think they gave me an ulcer. Of course the internet had a field day about the Doom Marauder. Those guys are so challenging that you wonder why all the other enemy are kittens in comparison. I did however still love this game and enjoyed the story which added some wonderful context and served as a nice buffer between the bloodgasims you get while killing demons. If you need a kickass first person shooter look no further Doom Eternal has you covered.

Shadows of the Damned9
Apr 21, 2020
The gameplay is much like Resident Evil for the most part. The level design is also very similar to Resident Evil 4. It really did feel like that game on meth. The game doles out the new guns fairly quick but constantly is adding upgrades and new enemies to keep it from getting stale. The worst part of the gameplay is the times when Suda gets to be himself and we get weird just annoying unsatisfying levels. Like towards the end we get a side scrolling level; while interesting it felt like it didn't belong to the grindhouse feel the game initially sets up. The combat is fun and not terrible challenging on the normal difficulty but enough to keep you on your toes. The game isn't very long with nothing besides the story to do, so the replay value is completely gone. The voice acting and sounds are great. The goddamn baby heads you have to feed strawberries (I mentioned the game was weird right?) sound so creepy no matter if they are crying or laughing. The voice acting is super well done with a ton of comedy from most of the main characters mainly Johnson and Garcia Hotspur. While the game stages may look very similar to Resident Evil 4 the atmosphere is something else entirely. They make it where it is creepy unknown place but you're not afraid to move forward. That is mainly because you are armed to the teeth, (literally) but if you weren't I would've been scared to move forward at all. The graphics is traditional Grasshopper Studio style where you can't tell if it is cell shaded or bad graphics. I will say it is cell shaded but not Borderlands status it feels just slightly cartoony. The story is the save the princess from the castle but done bat **** crazy. You are Garcia **** Hotspur, hunter of demons and slayer of pendejos like you. He is without a doubt one of my favorite character to exist in video games to date. He is a bit homicidal, suicidal, stupid, and he is the one with badass mother **** on his wallet. He is also one of the few latino protagonist out there which I can appreciate them not making generic white guy 54. Garcia is accompanied by his gun and sidekick Johnson. Johnson is the comedic relief in this game and you encylopedia of all things demon related. He is a english floating skull who can transform into different guns and a torch. The villain is a very weak villain named Fleming. He is the head demon but never is truly a direct threat, which I personally dig villains who are constantly **** over the protagonist. The story is about Garcia and Johnson going through the underworld to save Garcia's girlfriend. In the most badass way possible shoot everything ask questions after. The game's story is what keeps you wanting more; they create this entire world with it's own laws of physics that make you want to explore every inch of it. By the end of the game I damn near cried and just wanted more in my face. Overall in my opinion this is the best Grasshopper Studios game to have had ever come out. It is something I love and will show people to tell them " you have to see this game". It is weird, fun and gory. If you have been curious on Suda51 games check this one out it is the best way to get into him as a developer. I would recommend people to buy it just to show others and to go through the story again and again. I give this a 4.5/5. I only take off a .5 for annoying levels that just hinder the fun that is the rest of the game. Until next time fine demon hunters I am Brandon demon hunter and slayer of pizza like you. Ok I'll keep on working on my one liners.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons6
Apr 21, 2020
Can you make a game about kids that go on an adventure and have them not speak english, and have Brandon like the game? Yes, yes you can. Hey Brandon here to discuss Bothers Tale of Two Sons. This is a downloadable game for the PC, XBLA, and PSN. It is a interesting game that gives you that good ole PG adventure you just loved as a kid. The story is about two brothers, these two nameless kids are on a quest to help find the thing to help their dying father. I know it sounds cliche Disney **** but believe me this is better. The rest of the story is the quest itself you see slave minds, invisible monsters, and a battlefield that giants fought on. Now the characters never speak anything but simlish but they do get some emotions out of these kids. By the end I was thinking, "what is this feeling? Is this empathy for these little ****? Nooo!" something around those lines. The game uses that cartoony almost World of Warcraft art style which I don't mind for it being a low budget game. The game does have these vast and original environments that vary so much that you do feel as if you were going on a adventure. The games soundtrack is good but a bit generic at times. The developers went out of their normal wheelhouse with this one. Starbreeze Studios the makers of the poor Payday series and the remake of Syndicate. They made a platforming puzzle game, oddly enough this is some of their best work yet. Maybe you guys should stick to this? Payday isn't working out so well. The gameplay takes a bit getting used to. You have control of both brothers with each analog stick. It is super weird and will really test you on just making the simplest of movements. The puzzles are very easy and forward which is great for people like me who have a ton of things on their plate to worry about this. The game isn't terribly long with no replay value to really speak of but it is definitely worth at least one go through. The fact the brothers have their own specialties makes for a nice way of showing individualism between them. In the end with the shortness and lack of replay it takes away from the value of the game. The story is great and light for the most part which is nice when so much media is turning darker in todays age. I give this a 3/5. If you see it at a discount purchase it, but 15$ seems a bit much. Man I wish I had a brother so we could go find the sacred fountain of Mellow Yellow.

Motorcycle Club3
Apr 21, 2020
Normally I would get with the games story and talk about every detail of the games mechanics, but being that there is no story and the mechanics are limited I feel like this is going to be a fairly short review in general. The game plays as a less intuitive Forza. You are racing against other racers to earn points so you can make it to the next group of races. I feel **** for comparing this, but the racing is very similar to Mario Kart's cup racing mode. I must make this very clear in no way is the racing like Mario Kart just how the you earn points. The racing feels like I am in some horrible version of Groundhog Day racing the same track over and over. I raced in one tournament and I swear every single track was damn near the same. The truly questionable thing about this game is the line between realism and Kart racing. The game tries to be realistic with the tracks and the bikes, but then will add in speed boost, and switching bikes while moving. The game makes you switch bikes because the annoying ass mechanic of the asphalt on this road will have **** parts that I wouldn't want my car to go over, but a chopper bike will go over much better than a crotch rocket. I honestly have no idea if there is any truth to that, but it did **** me over a few races because the switching isn't instant unlike when the computers does it. So I know what you're thinking, "ok B-rod the racing ****, but surely I can see some kickass crashes?" Well Allan no there are no crashes at all. Infact the game punishes you for trying to crash your opponent riders by cutting to black and putting you a couple places behind. You don't crash it just cuts to black for a second and poof behind three people. This may just be the fact I didn't play it for 18 hours but I also saw around 10 bikes (give or take). That is pathetic; even for a C tier game like this. Lets do a rundown. The game is clunky on the gameplay. There are no kickass crashes. Around 10 whole bikes with no name brands to speak of. The only positive thing I can say is that it works and is only 30$ on the PS4. I will say save the money and go buy 20 Taco Bell grillers. I give this a 1.5/5, it gets points for working. Like usual I shall leave with a question. Why do they keep making these lower quality racing games that no one will hear of?

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell5
Apr 21, 2020
Hello fellow saints, and sinners it's time to talk about Hell. Well more or less the story of how Johnny Gat went to hell to fight the mother **** Devil. That's right I am B-rod, and I am reviewing the latest DLC for Saints Row IV. This review will more or less be a bit quicker than normal, but that is because I will only focus on the DLC and nothing more. Without further ado let us dive into Hell, and see what happens. The story is traditional to Saints Row style with your created character The Boss gets **** into Hell that forces Johnny Gat, and Kinzie jump in to go save them. While the game is titled Gat Out of Hell you can play the entire DLC as Kinzie. She has nothing different about her except for the little bit of dialog that changes. The game lies with one aspect; that is the fact they say it is a musical but there is only one scene where they sing and that's it. Not that it ruins the experience I am just pointing out they put that on the box. Story wise there isn't much too this DLC. There are few story based missions, and most of the cutscenes are stills with a voice over narrating them. Which I think is a shame one of my favorite parts of Saints Row are the cutscenes where they have this dialog that is funny, and nonsensical. The game is surprising with how it ends where you can make a choice that will drastically change where the Saints Row universe goes depending on what you choose. (not that it matters right now anyways) The story is semi interesting but for $20 I am expecting at least a longer experience than a couple of hours. The games sound takes a dive in this DLC for one simple reason. NO RADIO. When you spend all your time flying and jumping around why would you get in a car? I do understand you aren't in the simulation, so why would the music play? They could've just said they had headphones or something or anything honestly. The game ends up being pretty quiet because of that. Graphically speaking it is better than Saints Row IV was on the PS3 but not by much. These games have that cartoony look, but they are showing the age of their engine as of right now. Also Hell looks like a slightly different Steel Port, and I'm getting a little tired of being there. The gameplay comes down to a few new enemies, a couple new weapons, and a two new powers. The new weapons are awesome they are all based on the seven deadly sins, and the powers include flying and summoning. My biggest problem with this DLC is the fact that 90% of the missions you do are just events. There are no crazy hell missions or stupid funny things like chainsawing luchadores or killing furries. It literally is the events from Saints Row IV with some Hell mixed into them. The game is roughly four hours short and that is if you are taking your time. Honestly you can breeze through this thing pretty quick. Quick tip with this game; get the armchair weapon it is so useful it turns Satan and his armies into little duckies on a shooting carnival game. In the end this DLC is only worth it if you get the double pack that has Saints Row IV otherwise it seems like a waste of money to me. Believe me that is hard for me to say I am a rabid Saints Row fan, but this just wasn't what I was hoping for. I give this DLC a 2.5/5 it had a lot of disappointments. I leave with a question. What else can the Saints Row franchise do to push the envelope?

Evolve6
Apr 21, 2020
Evolve is the evolution of Left for Dead. Ok, ok I just had to get that out of my system, but anyways hello my fellow video game monster B-rod is here again with another review. Evolve another four player co-op game that only works if you and your team work together. I have some gripes with this game so let us get into it. The story of Evolve is a simple one. This colony on some planet lets just call it Endor for **** and giggles. Endor has been infested with these monsters that can either shoot fire, turn invisible or have weird black magic powers, and they are just wrecking everything they see. You can either play as a monster and do objectives like destroy the powerline, kill the hunters, breed minions, or destroy a star ship. Playing as the monster is amazing but it takes so long to unlock the next kind of creature that it's not something I want to keep playing as. I much prefered playing as a hunter. Playing as the hunter is just fantastic. Anyways the story is only about an hour and a half long, which I think is **** I understand it will let me change the levels I play and it can have different outcomes. Even so that only adds up to maybe 4 hours of the same story with different outcome. There is one opening cutscene and one ending scene so if you were expecting to get to know the hunters, well prepare for the Left for Dead experience. The graphics look great in this game. The maps which consist of desert, forest and swamps all seem very detailed and partly alive. The monster design looks like miniature Kaiju from Pacific Rim, nothing wrong with that but the default monster reminds me of that. The sound design is meh. There really is no score, and the dialog is mindless and repetitive. The level with all the extra background noise does help feel like the location is infested with creatures. The gameplay is fun for the first four hours, but I don't expect anyone to love this game in the same way Left for Dead was. In Left for Dead the maps stayed the same, but shooting hundreds of zombies with friends was fun. Now hunting the monster is fun too but you repeat the same **** over and over and over. Trap, shoot, chase, trap, shoot, chase. This game is just no fun by yourself either. Your AI partners **** unless you are the monster then the hunters are fairly relentless on finding you. With other player that know what to do the person playing the monster tends to just get their ass kicked right out of the door. Of course the opposite effect when hunters haven't the slightest idea how to play as their class. The hunters consist of a medic, assault, trapper, and support. I do love how each class has to do their job for success. I personally loved playing as the trapper, and I would suggest to newcomers start with assault because their job is to just shoot the creature. The biggest problem with the online is finding a match I don't know if the servers were **** or if just no one was playing this game week one but I would sit for about five minutes just waiting for a match to start. Overall the game is very similar to Turtle Rocks Left for Dead. With a few exceptions; every class plays very differently and teamwork is key. The monster player can take on all four players if they level up quickly. I didn't hate the game but these games aren't for gamers like me who enjoy single player experiences. I say if you liked Left for Dead and I mean played for hours upon hours of it or if you have a buddy who owns this game definitely give this a shot. For the rest of you maybe, maybe rent this to see if this is for you. I give this a 3/5. It didn't do anything horrific, I don't believe in a few months that this will have any sticking power. I leave with a question. Will Evolve be a beloved as Left for Dead?

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round7
Apr 21, 2020
Out of all the games to get re-released I never thought that Dead or Alive 5 would be one of them. Hello everyone B-rod here, and I know normally I start with some sad pun, but this is so surprising that it got a re-release that I am just slack jawed. I played this fight game back in 2012 when it was first released and I have to say I didn't miss it one bit. The story is, is... oh **** I haven't got the slightest clue. The first half is about these fighters all being recruited to fight in the Dead or Alive tournament. While the second half is about ninjas taking on some even corporation that was doing something nefarious. The story jumps in the timeline so much I can''t keep the continuity straight. I'm honestly not sure what the hell was going on in this game. I have never played any of the other four Dead or Alive games so I don't know if this story fits with them or if this is some new and original bull****. All I can say is I am not into whatever they were throwing at me. I will say about 90% of the reasons on why the characters would fight was just either funny or **** stupid. Seriously sometimes it would be, "Hey you bumped into me, lets fight!". The story is about 3-4 hours long depending on how good you are and such. The story isn't hard until you get to the end boss fight and they whiped my ass as if I was a toddler in the UFC. If you're into the story that is awesome, but if you're new maybe read the wiki before starting. The game looks pretty damn good. I dug on how the characters would sweat, and get all scuffed up in the fight. The arenas get a bit repetitive but they are destructible and that in fighting games is a must. Team Ninja of course had their ridiculous boob physics. This game will offend people with the recent sexism in gaming. While the ladies in Dead or Alive are BAMF they are overly sexualized to the point that even I would start to think is someone supposed to get off on this? Of course I would immediately never want to find out. Anyways the game looks freaking good. The voice acting is about as good as a anime so it is just ok and over acted. The gameplay is the reason why Dead of Alive has five games. This is very complicated. At the surface you can do what I do and just button mash to victory, or you can learn how to play and know how to counter multiple ways, and do combos, and wipe the floor with your opponent in mere minutes. Besides a graphic upgrade though I didn't see any improvements from the original Dead or Alive 5. I will say I avoided the online because I know I **** and didn't feel like committing suicide this week. I will say the tag team fighting is nice, while it isn't the first game to do it, this was still nice to have. The roster has a good amount of characters not too few, but also not so large that you can't master everyone. Overall I enjoy this game, but only as a rental. If I bought this it would be on the shelf never picked up again. The fighting is deep and complicated much like how they tell this story that jumps around to no end. If you're into the series getting this on the next gen seems like a good way to spend the weekend, but to newcomers I don't see this winning you over. I give this a 3.5 out of 5, it was short and confusing, but the fighting is a large amount of fun and the reason why people will stay. I leave with a question. Is Dead or Alive anyones' favorite fight game franchise? I've never met anyone who loved these games.

DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition8
Apr 21, 2020
Remastered games are all the rage as of late with God of War 3, Darksiders 2, and Borderlands Handsome Jack Collection all on the horizon, and I'm loving it. I am a big supporter of these games being re-released because then I can put away my old consoles and just have out the two. DMC Definitive Edition is no different. Now I am a big fan of this reboot of Devil May Cry. I was a fan of the original series and I think that this breathed fresh air into the series while keeping the crazy, silly, mayhem intact. This review will be a bit different, I will discuss the changes they made to the original game and then go into detail on the DLC Vergils Downfall, and then give a score of the overall package. So lets get into this SADISTIC demon killing game. The original DMC was hated by some and thought a fun experience by others. This game touts that it has rebalanced gameplay. I personally don't notice too many changes to that besides the fact that now some of the weapons are more powerful than they were before. The people who play Devil May Cry on the Dante Must Die mode will most likely be able to tell if there was any minor changes to the combat. They added new costumes to the mix in which you can play looking like Dante from Devil May Cry 3 or how I played looking like Dante from Devil May Cry 1. A nitpick with this costume feature is in certain scenes mainly transition scenes Dante will go back to looking like he normally does. I do say that this is a major nitpick because I would be sitting in my office chair going, "no game I didn't choose grunge rock Dante? **** you game I want white haired semi gothic Dante". Something like that. They did add a Hardcore mode and Turbo mode which I didn't touch because honestly just didn't feel like it. The last thing that they upgraded in this game is the graphics. This does look a lot better than DMC on the 360. They definitely fixed the Unreal Engine texture catchup that Unreal Engine 3 had. Nothing annoyed me more than seeing textures not fully rendered in a cutscene so it is nice that they fixed that. Okay now to talk about the added DLC Vergils Downfall. I missed this originally so I will briefly talk about it. The story is about what happens to Virgil at the end of DMC, and how he becomes one of my favorite villains in video games. While this Vergil is a little more like whiny Anakin from the prequels he is still fun to play as. My biggest problem with this story is they use drawings for cutscenes instead of rendered animation. This really brings me out of the storyline, because I personally hate that lazy **** I don't want to see some storyboard I want to see a cutscene or nothing at all. In saying that I will say this story does make me want to play more games as a villain because the end of this is so badass I was left wanting more. The gameplay is a little different. He can't do a lot of what Dante can. Mainly double jump; the lack of a double jump after I just played the entire game with it drove me nuts. His combat is a little less smooth. I found myself getting hit because the animation to the move he was doing was too slow. Being that his combat is slower I didn't get the combo meter as high as I would with Dante. I do appreciate that they made his fighting style different, I just wish they spent more time refining it. They add a couple new enemies, like some **** face gorilla monster, and these disappearing crow things, but overall you fight the same porcelain baby faced demons from DMC. Overall the DMC definitive package is for newcomers or fans of the 2013 game. If you hated DMC I don't see this game being drastically different enough to change anyones' opinion. I personally loved playing DMC again and my only complaint would be with the DLCs gameplay. I give this a 4/5. For forty dollars this isn't a bad game to revisit. I leave of course with a question. Will we ever get PS2 games like (Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3) on the PS4, Xbox One?

Battlefield Hardline8
Apr 21, 2020
Remember playing cops and robbers as a kid? Battlefield Hardline is what you imagined as a kid while playing; well maybe not that extreme. Hello fine folks on the interwebs B-rod here with a late review trying to play catch up. Game industry decided the last two weeks of March to unleash hell on us gamers with five games simultaneously coming out. Anyways the easiest of the five to get through is Battlefield hardline (because of length nothing else). Anyways without further ado let us dive into this mountain of Cocaine that is Battlefield Hardline. The story is rather interesting. It is a full game but tells the story as if you are watching CSI Miami. It literally has a previously on Battlefield Hardline. Unlike anything by **** Wolf, this game feels and acts more like a cop show on HBO not like The Wire or True Detective; it just feels like it can be on HBO with all the violence and cussing, and grittiness. You are Mendoza a newish detective who is a stick up his ass cop, so a cop. The only way I remembered this guys name is because his last name is Mendoza like the Mcbain villain from The Simpsons. The story is you (Mendoza) trying to take down the ever growing drug trafficking that is taking over Florida. I can't say anymore to the story without giving it away but it gets way more complicated than that. I will say this is the best single player in a Battlefield game since the first Bad Company. I know that is not saying a lot, but Visceral actually put some effort into this story unlike most of FPS storylines. The game is beautiful in both the environment and cutscenes. The characters don't have that dead durrr face that you seen with many games from a previous generation. The environments aren't repetitive at all they actually vary quite a bit. Something that was nice because you are a cop there was no war zones in the Middle East in this game. I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of killing the same faceless enemies in the middle east. Now because the AI couldn't wear things covering their face I arrested the same guy quite a few times in the same level. Don't get me wrong this is more a nitpick than an actual complaint, but it was noticeable. The sound was equally adequate. The environments felt alive, the slums, felt like people lived there, while the swamps had that annoying gnat flying into the characters ear. The voice acting is on par with the effects. Being that this is a very story heavy single player the voice acting had to be good and this game delivers. The gameplay is unlike any other Battlefield game to date. It is a lot more stealth heavy versus the run and gun, and blow **** up like every single Battlefield before it. They added a ton of components that make you feel more like a cop than even L.A. Noire did. You can flash your badge to make enemies freeze, arrest all enemy combatants if you are stealthy, and even tased the **** out of everyone. This is cool, but (minor spoiler ahead) when you aren't a cop anymore the whole arresting people made no sense even from a story standpoint due to the characters motivation. Otherwise this gun play is a played down Battlefield, you won't get heavy machine guns or RPGs. You will get light machine guns, pistols, and shotguns. I will say on normal the combat can be challenging if you aren't paying attention. The enemies don't **** around they are a better shot than me. The single player is about a six hour experience which is pretty typical for these kind of games. I know what some are thinking, "who gets these games for single player?". The multiplayer has many of the same modes as Battlefield 4, but has the newest heist mode. In heist you can earn points by making arrest, kills, stealing, doing the objective or stopping the opposing team from completing theirs. Sadly I didn't find this as fun as traditional Battlefield multiplayer, but that is me who digs typical conquest which this is present. My argument against that would be, if you only like conquest stick with Battlefield 4 because this is no different. Overall the game is a lot of fun well worth a purchase, but only if you enjoy multiplayer. The single player is a one and done kind of thing. It has little replay value with the single player; so if you're into that I'd say rent it. This is deffiently worth checking out even from the none Battlefield fans because the single player is something new and different. I give this a 4/5 it is a great game that I think people should check out. The single player is better than most cop shows on TV (excluding HBO). I leave with a question. Battlefield has done a Cop story, but when will they go either into the future again or to the past like WW1 or earlier?

Bastion10
Apr 21, 2020
The man just sat there staring at a computer screen wondering what he was going to type. He relaxed in his office chair thinking how he was going to start his review for the game Bastion. Then he had a great idea what if he made a narration joke because the entire game of Bastion is narrated. Aloha B-rod here to talk about Bastion another game that has been re-released on the PS4 and I love it. I tend not to buy PSN games because they always end up free on PS Plus so I feel like I got ripped off. When I saw that Bastion was out I couldn't stop myself from pressing the purchase button, because this game is **** amazing. The story of Bastion is very interesting. A calamity hit the world and only a handful of people survived. You play as the Kid. I dig how your character didn't have a name the entire game. The entire story is told from the point of this old west sounding guy. He will comment on **** you do and put backstory on each play you visit and everything you do. The story is about a 4-5 hour long event depending if you explore and do extra **** It has a nice choose the ending to it and New game plus which means a replayable story which is a big component for a guy who likes to go back to games a year later. The sound is amazing in this game. Not only is the only voice actor just the best in this game. The music while you play is phenomenal. Which is saying something because most music in games is bland and so generic you don't notice it. I could listen to this games soundtrack while in my car. The game doesn't improve much from the original on the 360 graphically speaking. It seems more colorful not and has more junk in the background if you own this on the 360 it isn't a huge jump honestly. Saying that the artwork is still original and beautiful. I love the creature design in this game so much. The gameplay for those of you who don't know is a beat em up RPG. It is light on the RPG but it has the element. The cool thing about this is each board will form up around you so each area feels like a new adventure with Lord knows what'll happen. The game features a variety of interesting weapons and special powers; with each level offering you something new to try out. This is how you make a game developers. Offer something new each level you go to just to keep it from getting stale. The game has an interesting level up system that deals with booze which you can change out anytime you are in the hub world. If the game gets too easy for you, than add some idols to the mix that will make the game as hard as you'd like. Overall for 15$ Bastion is an amazing game and one of my favorite indie games to come out. If give it a 5/5. I don't give that score often but this game is perfect. It has an interesting story, with original artwork. This is something that I believe everyone should check out. I leave with a question. Would you like to see a Bastion 2, or think this game should be a stand alone game?

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood8
Apr 21, 2020
A list of things that are an American pastime are, overeating, caring about celebrities home life, and killing ****. Well one of those things is really in left field but regardless aloha everyone B-rod is here again to talk about Wolfenstein Old Blood. This is a standalone DLC for The New Order that acts as a prequel. So yes we are back in WW2 and I've never been happier to paint it in blood. The story is you are back as BJ Blazkowicz or as some may know him as America Bloodman, and you are infiltrating castle Wolfenstein. Your mission is to find and steal this folder that tells you where the evil General Deathshead is located at. For those of you that have played The New Order that is the first mission. The story is great it has suspenseful moments that have me on the edge of my seat like I am watching Game of Thrones. The real crazy thing is that BJ is a boring **** character, but the **** are the ones with interesting backstory and dialog that just makes you want to stab them in the face with a rusty pipe. I was thinking the story was going to focus on this character you save in a tavern, but they said **** that we need more **** killing" and threw her to the side; which to that I say thank you. The story takes a helluva turn in the third act, and for those of you that know what I am talking about I must say I want more games to surprise me like this did. The story isn't as deep as New Order was, but it was still a fun experience I would like to visit in the future. The game of course looks beautiful, they just used the same engine they used with The New Order so of course it'd look good. The voice acting and sounds are all fantastic as well I really can't think of anything wrong in the sound and graphic department. The gameplay is amazing, seriously if you haven't played the new Wolfenstein series you need to jump on it. My biggest complaint is in the very beginning when you are sneaking around the castle. You have to sneak around turning off generators, and if you get seen you are basically ****ed. It is so tedious I was just pissed off the entire time I was playing that part. Some may argue it provided with some new gameplay to the run and gun shooting. I say with a four hour story there is no need for annoying stealth missions. Those of you that missed New Order the gameplay is amazing it mixes modern day shooters with classic Id Wolfenstein. Which means no regenerating health and you must pick up bullets and armour as you see them. The game on normal is very challenging it doesn't **** around. I will say it has no replay value that drives me nuts. All you can do is try to play on a harder difficulty and find the rest of the collectables. Overall this series is fast becoming my favorite FPS games on the market, and it actually has me excited for Doom 4. I will say $17 for a four hour story seems a bit pricey for those on a budget. While the story was amazing it had little replay value outside of collecting and going through the story again it doesn't strike much of a bargain. I give this a strong 4/5 this is a great DLC that didn't seem tacked on at all. I leave with a question. What else can they do to make killing **** interesting?

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition9
Apr 21, 2020
Hello everyone B-rod is back with a slightly older review, but it what I have. Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls the console version. I do know why they call these games Diablo, and it is not because Diablo is the main villain. It is because these games are so **** addictive it is unreal. I never played Diablo 1 or 2, I played 3 on the Xbox 360 and then again when it was originally re-released on the PS4. I must say replaying through this game again is just like when you watch your favorite movie again it; you may know it beat for beat, but it is still an experience you continue to enjoy. The story of Diablo 3 is all about the Black Soul Stone, and defeating the last of hells lords. You play as one of six different classes, but ultimately everyone just ends up calling you Nephilim. The story is serviceable it isn't bad, but this isn't the next Lord of the Rings if you know what I mean. For those who've played it time and time again tend to skip all the dialog. It is fully voice acted and has these story drawings inbetween anytime you did something crucial; mostly going through the acts. First timers to this game I would recommend actually listening to the story and diving into it because it is worth at least that. The sound in this game is a lot of background noise honestly. It has the sound effects you'd expect, but no real music to it outside of the CGI cutscenes. The voice acting is anywhere from bad to just barely getting the point across. I played as the Crusader who was a new addition to the game on the PS4, and he sounded like he was reading his lines, not the voice acting you'd expect. The game looks good on the PS4, but if you own this on a previous console it isn't a vast enough improvement to go out and grab a new copy. The gameplay is a dungeon crawler. What I notice throws some gamers off is the top down perspective, if you are one of those people who have seen gameplay and thought that maybe it wasn't for you. Play it. Seriously go out rent, borrow, steal I don't care just get your hands on it because it is damn near instantaneously addictive. The game keeps you playing mainly on the leveling up and the promise of bigger and better loot. The enemies don't serve much of a serious threat for the most part. This is a lot like playing the lottery. Most of the time you will get either crap or maybe something slightly better, but that one time that you get a legendary item than it sets off those endorphins that make you never want to stop. The game is long and with infinite replay value. I've beaten the game on two of the 12 difficulty settings. Each setting doesn't just make the game harder but it gives you better and better loot. The level max is 70 but it doesn't stop there with the paragon levels you can continue to make your character into a unstoppable killing machine. Then you add the Reaper of Souls on this and you get one helluva game experience. It is safe to say Diablo has something that few games are able to muster. I play it for so long my eyes turn bloodshot and I realize that I was dehydrated. Overall while the story is serviceable, and the sound is just noise, the graphics being good for what it is (excluding Blizzard Cutscenes). The gameplay is why people love the Diablo series and if you are new to Diablo 3 or just want to play it again this remastered game will not steer you wrong. I give this a 4.5/5. I leave you fair barbarians with a question. Should Blizzard port, or make more of their games for consoles as well or just stick with PC?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt10
Apr 21, 2020
The Wild Hunt story is finishing off the trilogy of the Witcher series in a very interesting way. Unlike most third entries you are not required to have had played the first two to understand what is going on. Much like in the books containing Geralt; this game is a continuation and a self contained story all in one. So for those of you that missed The Witcher 1, and 2 fear not this game will be just as enjoyable. The story is about Geralt (who is a monster hunter) tracking down his surrogate daughter Ciri to save her from The Wild Hunt. That is the base premise believe me there is so much that I won't mention to keep those who haven't gotten it to have a fresh untainted experience. This game actually made me not only care about the characters but feel an array of emotions. I felt anger with the antagonist, laughter, bloodlust, and hell I even got teary eyed in a couple of scenes. This game has such great writing and storytelling. The game has multiple ending based off decisions you make throughout the game. My friend and I were playing the game to see who'd finish first and we'd discuss what'd happen in our stories. He had killed people I didn't, and I had done certain missions complete opposite than what he had done. This is grade A storytelling and it makes me wish that most third entries in games could have this kind of finish. The game is the best looking game out on the new generation of consoles. This world looks alive and feels alive. It will actually change over time due to the choices you make. The game is a work of art come to life. For those of you that have some blood lust; The Witcher 3 has you covered. Chopping off heads, and cleaving bodies in two has never been a beautiful as it is now. The game sound is fantastic. The game is all fully voice acted with each actor sounding like a professional. While Geralt character has a monotone (his character isn't supposed to have emotions) the voice actor still some how manages to convey emotions, and tones while still keeping this gravelly monotone voice. The gameplay is what I've been looking for in a fantasy game. When you are fighting with a sword it seems very realistic. While you the player may be jamming on the square button, Geralt is doing the art of water dancing. He is doing these low cuts, high cuts spin moves, it is truly something just to watch him fight. On normal the game is the exact amount of challenge I love in games. It keeps you on your toes, while not being stupid hard. The fact not every enemy can be beaten by your sword alone. Each enemy has a certain weakness to blade oils, magic signs or perhaps just a good ole fashion bombs. In doing that the game never feels repetitive in the slightest. The game has a open world like Skyrim, but with it constantly changing and new mission that are all unique in every way you will have over 100 hours of top notch gameplay here. Overall the game is perfect. I really have no issues with this game at all. It would melt away hours for me and when I wasn't playing it I would think about the game. CD Projekt Red is my favorite developer for creating such an experience with this series. If you were on the fence about this game I urge you to find any way to play it; whether it be beg borrow or steal just get your hands on this. I give this a 5/5. I'm a bit sad I now must move on from this game. I of course leave with a question. What are your favorite games of all time?

Arcania: The Complete Tale1
Apr 21, 2020
The story is the most cliche story ever. This borrows heavily from Star Wars. You are a farm boy whos city and family are killed and burned you follow an old adventure who has trained you to be a fighter to go stop an evil king from taking over. This is a fantasy version that copies that chosen one **** trope but it is so ****ing lazy about its story that it makes the easiest story to write boring as hell. The story was so bad I stopped paying attention about halfway through this game which is saying alot because this is a long 12-15 hour story that I played to the end. Your character whose name is so irrelevant I shall call him Sir Generic **** Is this whiny, **** who looks like a reject from some boy band so he is taking his frustrations out on the first person who tell him no. They give you a semi choice in the **** dialog on what you are going to do. I found that if you act like an **** the game goes by quicker and this games story is so linear that even all my **** decisions I had no consequences at all. The games ends with the beginning of Fall of Seraph and I hate to say it but there was no way I was starting the DLC to this **** game. Like I said in the opening the voice acting is horrible. Nordic Games should have just left it out. I'd rather read than to listen to some dude read off a sheet of paper. They try to emote during this game and it comes off far more laughable than I think it was meant to. I've seen high school kids act a helluva lot better than this **** This sound design is so bad I had moments where the sound effects would just be gone. So I'd be swinging my sword and hitting the enemy but no sound would be present. The graphics are so bad I could fool people by saying it was a PS2 game I got working on my PS4. This is a shame too, because if I hand this game any credit it would be some of the environments would look awesome if they actually put some time into this game to make it look like it belongs on this generation. Saying that, this game has a horrible issue with caves. I was in the same ****ing cave just with tunnels mixed around for about 5 hours of this 12-15 hour game. THE SAME CAVE. There was no difference in these caves that they force you to go in. This is so ****ing lazy that it actually makes me angry. Moving away from the graphics and story let us move on to the gameplay. So I started to play this after The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 had amazing gameplay with swordplay that was both challenging and fun, that looked like bloody art. This fighting is more like when you give kids a cardboard tubes and have them swing at eachother. Your character can use a sword, a bow or magic scrolls. What they can't do is get behind a blocking enemy fight if enemies surround them, or even walk up a hill. The games combat is worse than games that came out in the PS2 era, I can think of at least five RPG, or action RPGs that were during that time that play better than this "remastered" game. The AI is not only stupid but it is buggy as **** The AI has this ability to teleport near you if they get caught on the environment. I think it is because instead of making the AI walk around the rock let us make it disappear and reappear right in front of you. I also must mention that the AI has one way it can do any significant damage to you but every single enemy must wind up its attack for 15 seconds to give you plenty of time to dodge. This game has so many problems I am just going to start listing them. The quest map won't always show you where to go nor if it is aboveground or underground, for a "open world" game they have way too many invisible walls, there is no run speed so you must lightly jog everywhere in the game, the fast travel only works when you find two point that can only work between those two points, it might give you cancer, and last the game has the gall to charge 30 dollars for this mess ****; 5 dollars is pushing it. The one good thing about this game is that there are no inventory limits which is good because the entire game I found one trader by accident because Nordic Games couldn't be bothered to put it on the mini map. Overall this game is a mess of all messes. I can't think of any reason for anyone to ever play this game. I've been a big proprietor of these Remastered games coming to the PS4 and Xbox One, but if they were garbage games like this leave them in the past. What's next Morphx or how about Heavy Fire **** Spear? I give this a .5/5, I give it that 1/2 point because it was a functioning game, the term game is really pushing it here. What scares me the most if I'm not mistaken Nordic games has the IP for Darksiders. Nordic please don't **** this up unlike the ArcaniA series those games were actually well beloved. I leave with a question more of a prediction. Will Nordic Games **** up the Darksiders franchise?

LEGO Jurassic World6
Apr 21, 2020
Welcome to another film series that has been Legoized. Hello B-rod here again to bring you to a world where dinosaurs are stuck on a island and everything is half Legos and half actual material. As some wise man mentioned in today's day in age if you want your movie tie in games you have to look to Lego to make it because they are all that is left doing it. That's not a bad thing in my opinion because at least the Lego games are quality. Yeah they are kind of the same game over and over, but this time we have Lego Jeff Goldblum. So So uh uh without further ado let lets review this ****. (Okay I won't Goldblum) The game takes you through all four Jurassic Park movies. In all honesty I really had fun playing through the first movie. Much like Lego Lord of the Rings they have the movie audio spliced into the game. Which I'll get to that a bit later, but if you ever wanted to go through the events of the movies minus any tension and add a lot more goofiness to it then this is your game. This game is has the most goofy humor, but it happens more often than not in scenes that probably should be more of a tense experience than ridiculous. This is a kids game of course so it isn't meant to scare the **** out of the children, but it has an odd lack of death. When I say lack I mean none at all. This may seem like a weird thing to be asking for in a Lego game, but it really is an odd choice on their part because Jurassic Park games aren't particularly bloody or violent in anyway. In the scene where the raptor sneaks up on the hunter and the line "cleaver girl" is uttered the character doesn't die he just runs away. They even took away the guns that were in the movie and replaced them with tasers and tranquilizer guns. I only bring this up because Lego Lord of the Rings had swords, war and characters dying, and Lego pirates had the guns and death as well. It just seems weird after all these titles to take that away. Like I said I GET THESE GAMES ARE FOR KIDS, and I'm not knocking this game for doing it, I actually would get this for my young nephew. As long as you like the entire series and not just the first movie like me then this is going to be a great experience. The sound like I mentioned uses the audio from the film. Unlike in Lego Lord of the Rings it doesn't sound as professional. At some points mainly in the first movie portion of the game it sounds like they took the clip off of Youtube and just made the file a mp3, and presto. They did something different then Lego Lord of the Rings in how they also mixed their own dialog in the movie. They did it quite well honestly. Some of the random dialog is hilarious, and the sound alikes they get for the better well known actors are pretty spot on. The game looks really good as well. The colors all jump out at you, and with the new systems that can add a lot more tiny Lego pieces to fall all over the place. The game is well a Lego game. It seems that the puzzles are super easy which is great for young ones but older games will find it a cake walk. They add a ton of running away sequences which is cool the first time, but gets repetitive as time goes on. There is some replayability, but since all that consist of is collecting I feel it loses some value in that. Playing as a dinosaur is ok. At no point did it feel like it was time to be king **** of **** mountain instead it was more like "oh I am a bigger Lego character". It isn't very long if you aren't a collector type so it is hard to recommend for those who aren't either huge fans of Jurassic Park or have kids. Overall it is fun, and another Lego game to add to the list of movies that have been Legoized. I had fun but have a hard time telling even Lego game fans to buy this game. It is a good weekend rental for both you and the kids. I give this a 3/5. My only wish is the next Lego game is Lego God of War, I need some gratuitous violence. I leave with a different question than usual. How many times did I say Lego in this review?

Batman: Arkham Knight8
Apr 21, 2020
The story in Arkham Knight is fantastic and darker than Nolan would ever dream. This **** is dark. Scarecrow has teamed up with the Arkham Knight to bring Gotham City to its knees and show that the Batman not only can be killed, but has fear. The Scarecrow believe it or not isn't a bad main villain but I still feel he was overshadowed by other villains. The other villains being Arkham Knight and another I won't mention due to spoilers. The mystery of the Arkham Knight is very compelling, and I'll admit eventually I got to the point where I was Arnold from Predator constantly saying, "what the hell are you". I appreciate that the story will take breaks and tell you now is a good time to do side missions. I will say I was slightly disappointed in the lack of a Rogues Gallery of villains. I didn't see some of my personal favorites like Bane or Deadshot, or Mister Freeze. Now that is a nitpick because this is definitely a personal story with Batman. We get deep down into his psyche, and see his slow decent into madness because of Scarecrow. With the twist being **** amazing having me on the edge of my seat I will mark it down for a grievous offense. When you beat the game to get the true ending you must 100% the game. **** that. Seriously Rocksteady I will never go out of my way to find the Riddlers bull**** trophies. I just don't have time for that **** So yeah Rocksteady next time let the reason to get Riddler trophies be something like 100 gamerscore or a Batman suit to wear not the ending to the game. The voice acting is phenomenal in this game. Hell there is a music number that is so catchy that it was stuck in my head while I was at work. I will say I wish Scarecrows original voice from Arkham Asylum was in this because that **** was cool and not just a rehashed Dr. Strange. The game looks beautiful, the fact you can drive the Batmobile in heavy rain and have it feel like it was raining hard is just fantastic. They will force you to stay out of detective vision which is great so you can just admire the third redesign of Gotham. My issue is with yet again we don't have a Gotham city with civilians. The story has it make sense why none are left, but damn it I want innocent people to save otherwise the basic thugs on the ground are just there to be there because I sure as **** aren't going to fight them. The gameplay is Batman with new toys. That is something I feel like they dropped the ball a bit. The first time you see the Batmobile is amazing, but they force you to use it so much I got very annoyed. I have some very big issues with this Batmobile. The thing is clunky as hell to drive, and the combat they make you do against the drones starts out fun and turns to a Oh **** you in a hurry. I got very frustrated with this **** vehicle. The gadgets were more useful in combat; unlike in previous games you kind of need to use them to be effective. The new enemies range from an interesting new enemy like the new heavies, and drone operators to why the **** are they in this game. The main new enemy I hated was the medic. The medic can bring guys back after you broke 16 bones in their body. In the predator style these enemies are a big of an issue, but while you're in the middle of a brawl with 20 guys these enemies had me cursing at my tv. The games side missions are all multi-tiered. So if you want to go fight Two Face or Penguin you must do about four similar missions before hand just to punch them in the face. That isn't that bad it was just lacking from Arkham City where you randomly find The Mad Hatter. I like this game don't get me wrong it was a helluva lot of fun, and I do feel like while I may not have enjoyed the changes as much it is still better than them just making the exact same game over and over. This is a new experience to the Arkham games that we needed. I'll be honest I almost went into the Dark Knight quote with the Arkham game we may not want but we deserve. I butchered it. Stop Judging me! Overall I may have highlighted more I disliked than I liked, but that's only cause the stuffed I liked were thing common to the Arkham games. I would definitely recommend people buy this game if you're fans of the series. If you are unknown it seriously can hurt to rent it, because the other two games are reference but not necessary to the story. I give this a solid 4/5. I have my problems that keep it from a perfect score, but it is Batman and you gotta love the Bats. I leave with a question. Has any of you wonderful gamers ever done the Riddler trophies and challenges?

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition6
Apr 21, 2020
Oh HD remastered games where'd we be without you? This year I truly believe that Capcom was testing to see which people enjoyed more. DMC or the original Devil May Cry franchise. I previously reviewed the remastered DMC game, and I loved it. I do enjoy the reboot. Playing Devil May Cry 4 Remastered or whatever the **** they call it seems a bit lacking in the content area. Where are my manors? Hello gamer B-rod here your demon hunting, duster coat wearing gaming reviewer to talk about my opinion on Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. Devil May Cry 4 has a story that has two characters Dante everyone's favorite badass quipping demon killing Son of Sparta, and Nero no ones favorite whiny complaining little girly man who cares about this chick who I think said a grand total of five words in the game. This game reminds me so much of Metal Gear Solid 2 with showing fans Dante, and having him present but ultimately having this kinda annoying character be the main focus. The story is about a good 4-6 hours long with some obvious twist and interesting villains. My problem with Nero is not that he can be whiny or has some bad dialog, but in the fact they make him act too much like Dante. Fans of the series all love Dante and in my opinion if you are going to make a game with a new character we don't need another Dante. For ****s sake his design is so close to Dante you could fool people saying that they are related. The story is crazy fun with its anime style of dialog and villains that monologue to death. (literally) Let us be honest who comes to Devil May Cry for the story? Quite a few actually myself included, but still everyone is clearly **** graphics. Like the transition? Me neither; yet that is how my reviews are structured so yeah. The game looks better than the 360, PS3 version, but not by much. I say it is because it didn't have much to improve on honestly. The only thing they did was make the colors pop more, which for a stylized game like this it is all you really need to do. The game sound is exactly what I said before anime as **** The game has always had corny dialog fans of the PS2 games can appreciate that. I personally love the soundtrack to this game. I have no clue what they call the music they play but this industrial fast paced metal music sounds ****ing awesome while you are hacking demons to bits. I always loved how this game has a M rating when it is very tame on the blood factor. Yes there is blood, and a couple of bad no, no words but nothing that in my opinion counts for a M rating. The gameplay however is Devil May Cry. For those who may not be aware it is a fast paced hack n slash with timing based combos and no blocking. The fighting is varied enough with the enemies that when they mix up the enemies it brings a new feeling to the fighting. I love how each character feels different. Dante plays how you'd expect very focused on sword, gun and just weapon play. Nero combat is more focused on his demon arm which does cool ass **** with a simple press of the circle button. Vergil who is a playable character now is primarily sword based, and Trish and Lady are mainly gun based combat. The thing that makes me sad while Vergil, Trish and Lady are playable characters you just go through the story without cutscenes. I would really have had hoped for a individualized story even if it was only two hours apiece just to make it seem a bit more worth the 24 dollars. The games biggest and well known sin is the second half of the game is just the first half backwards. That is a huge disappointment and a real cheat, I didn't lose too much enjoyment out of my experience. Overall to the folks who are huge Devil May Cry fans who plays that **** on the hardest difficulty well this game is for you. If you play every character, level them up all the way while on the hardest difficulty you have a good 20 hour game. Of course hardcore DMC player you already own it, but what about the casual Devil May Cry fans or non-fans? I'd say wait, you aren't missing anything special see if it becomes a free game with PS Plus or Live, or if it becomes a disk definitely rent this game it is fun enough for a rental. I have a hard time recommending non-hardcore fans to own this because the game has little replay value to it. I give it a 3/5. I leave with a question I personally have. Is Capcom going to make a DMC 2 or Devil May Cry 5?

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend7
Apr 21, 2020
Go, go crazy Japanese game. Well actually BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma isn't that crazy **** as it is a ridiculous title. This is the third game in the series and the first I have played. Hello gaming internet B-rod here with one of those wacky reviews that I don't think will be very long because well fighting games don't take a lot to explain honestly. I'll let you all know I didn't spend more than 8 hours with this game so if I missed something I do apologize if I missed some detail, or gameplay element. This is a fighting game with an actual story. Some may argue that Street Fighter or Tekken has a story, but I mean it has a story mode like Mortal Kombat. Unlike Mortal Kombat this games story doesn't feature much in the realm of gameplay. I played it for over an hour and I didn't fight once. This bugged me because I was enjoying the story I was told, but I want to play a game not just watch still characters talk to each other while it tells me that action happened. The story is complex and cool, and if this was an anime I would definitely watch it, which says a lot because I typically do not care for anime. If what I say isn't an issue for you then the story mode is something to check out, from what I saw it was fairly compelling with some weird as **** characters. The games looks good. The character design is cool and interesting Japanese. There is weird stupid Japanese that has characters with dumb as **** hair and zippers everywhere and interesting Japanese where it has that **** but it looks cool. The game does have some female characters that are a bit over sexualized and they do some fan service but nothing extreme. The game is a colorful cartoony 2D fighting game which is a nice change in pace from the 3D that has been the hoopla for a while. The voice acting isn't bad. Unlike most anime style of games this ones voice acting didn't get on my nerves. It had the over acting and characters who had the world's most annoying voice, but it wasn't bad at all nor that irritating. The gameplay is a fairly well balanced fighting game. They had an interesting counter mechanic in it where it will stop a combo and allow the opponent to do one. The game didn't have anything special to it in the way of originality it the fighting. This felt much like an old school Street Fighter with a little more flashy lights. The characters weren't the most unique in the fighting styles; sure there were obvious differences but nothing that popped out to me. The game has a large cast of character to play with and in arcade mode they kinda get a smaller more contained story which I thought was cool. There were other game modes I didn't touch, but that tells me for fighting fans there is enough to this game to keep fighting game fans happy. Overall this was a fun very stress free fighting game. It has a interesting story as long as you don't mind a ton of talking with old style of fighting game mechanics that brings me back to the Sega Genesis. I enjoyed this game quite a bit but not enough to buy it. If you rent this game you'll have a fun weekend, but unless you know this series and enjoy it then I see no reason to ever own it. I give this a 3.5/5. Well gaming community I of course leave with a question. Who has played the first two games? Seriously I've never heard of this series before this game.

God of War III Remastered8
Apr 21, 2020
HD Remastered games seem to be the majority on what I talk about nowadays. For every new game I review I must review two more Remastered games. Don't get me wrong I love them being a thing I just wish the price wasn't so high. Hello gamers B-rod here to talk about God of War 3 Remastered, or just God of War 3 because very little seemed changed or updated in any fashion. Let us see if this is worth your hard earned 40 dollars. God of War 3 is all story it is the final chapter to Kratos's revenge against the Gods. I do love this story even if Kratos is more or less a psychotic maniac who is so hell bent on revenge he kills any and everyone. Like some dude who just happens to be in his way and is begging for his life; well Kratos gives him some good ole Spartan hospitality by beating his brains in and killing him. So he is not a relatable character or even a redeemable one not every character needs to be. I will say if you haven't ever played a God of War game but have a PS4 play this. While it is a third entry into an ongoing story you won't be lost. The game recaps everything you'd need to know. On the PS3 I started with this game and it is probably my second favorite in the series. Now this may be me knowing everything to do so I flew through it. The campaign is not long at all. For a story driven game a six hour story is less to be desired. It is a fun six hours but still not much after this story. The story has a definitive ending that has a couple of... well not twist but interesting turns is how I'd like to put it. I'll say I'd be surprised if this game had a direct sequel. The game sound is great the music is so **** epic, fighting the bosses has me going **** yeah about 90% of the time. The voice acting is well done even if Kratos only shows about one emotion. I do love characters that are pissed off all the time, because I will never understand constantly being angry. **** just tried talking to Kratos maybe he'd calm down they'd have a good cry and all would be forgiven. Sorry getting off topic at hand. The games graphics look about as good as they did on the PS3. That's not a slight against the game in fact it is a compliment to the PS3 version on how amazing it looked. I will say those of you who haven't messed around with the screen borders on your PS4 yet, DO IT. Seriously, otherwise you get this black box around the game which immediately pulls me out of any immersion I would have had. The gameplay is a hack n slash game with some fairly simple puzzles in the mix. This combat is so well designed that many games have copied it including a franchise known as Castlevania. That says something there. This game is full of interesting Greek Myth enemies with a ton of boss fights that are all more epic than the next. If you don't like brutal violence or HBO levels of **** just out for no reason well maybe stay away from this game and enjoy some Matlock. The game has this semi metroidvania style to it where you go back to some areas with new equipment and unlock new areas and treats. The puzzles can be annoying, but nothing like the original God of War. I'm looking at you spike floor and spinning blade tower. In the end of it all I love this game and if you're a fan buy it the enjoyment is well worth the 40 dollars. Newcomers borrow from a friend it'll either hook you immediately or put you off instantly either way that in my opinion is the best way to see if God of War is for you. I love this game, but have a hard time telling non-fans to go buy it. I give this a 4/5. If it only had more than a short single player and challenge rooms it'd be a lot higher rating.

Zombie Army Trilogy4
Apr 21, 2020
You got Snipers in my Zombies; or did you get Zombies in my Snipers? I don't know anymore. Hello Gaming internet B-rod here again to review the pack of DLC known as Zombie Army Trilogy. This is the zombie themed DLC for Sniper Elite 3 that I was so excited to play and immediately regretted. I'll explain everything don't you worry, so lets grab our trusty rifle and get into this. The story is about ****; that little scamp decides to raise the dead over losing WW2. So as you would expect all the **** are coming back to life to munch of the handful of survivors brains. I didn't play much of it besides knowing that the story is a lot like Left 4 Dead with the whole we went here and zombies and now to this location with more zombies. The games sound is great. I typically don't think zombies are of any significant threat but this ones are so when you hears their blood curdling screams you know you are in the **** The game looks just okay. While the areas are varied enough, the game loses some points with the lack of a color pallet. Gray, black and red colors get old really **** quick. The gameplay is interesting to say the least. You take the Sniper Elite concept of killing enemies from afar, and you have those enemies walk, or saunter at you. While I appreciate the game isn't just zombies with guns (which is present in the game) it feels still somewhat generic. I think being that the only sure way to kill a zombie is by shooting it in the head you don' t try trick shots. Besides the funny factor why would you ever even try to shoot a zombie in the balls it is useless. With most of the zombies usually getting within a 50 foot radius of you and constantly moving closer it makes being zoomed in all the way pointless. I truly believe as a single player experience this game falls flat on its face. Yet with multiple people this could be a helluva great time with a ton of zombie killing action. This is again much like Left 4 Dead. Alone the game feels repetitive and bland with people it is a great zombie killing cooperative rampage. The game is only fun with others which makes the rating a much lower one. I would recommend that people at least borrow this game it is worth seeing if this is your cup of tea. Much like my sniping this game missed me by a mile. I give this a 2/5. I leave with a question. Wouldn't the DLC been so much better if the kept the sniper like gameplay and had you fight aliens instead?

Helldivers6
Apr 21, 2020
"Come on you ape you wanna live forever!" Words spoken true in 1997 and because of Helldivers will be spoken again. Hello everyone B-rod here again to review Helldivers Masters of the Galaxy. When Arrowhead Game Studios made this game what they were doing was writing a love letter to Starship Troopers. This game is like if you take Starship Troopers, the future part of Terminator, and Pandorum then just mixed into a blender. Sadly with the zero amount of story that is in this game we must just jump into graphics and sound. The games sound is good for the most part. The guns is what really sticks out to me. Unlike most games where you can reload as often as you please. This game takes a realistic take on reloading where if you reload prematurely then you might lose half a clip. This is hard to overcome at first. The game uses a unique sound to tell you when you are almost out of bullets. Besides that the rest is fairly generic. The game looks good but desilent. The planets you go to might be different terrain but they all end up being the same. You never invade a planet with a base or town or anything really. The character models seem like they took Destiny's idea and just said, "how about we make that with more capes". The enemy design is at least unique, but unless you play on a harder difficulty you will rarely see variant of enemies. The gameplay is the most team killing co-op game in its existence. Let me tell you what can kill you besides enemies. Players shooting, driving, players turrets shooting, player calling in supplies to help the battle, you calling in supplies, your own turret, not stopping a vehicle before you exit, and lets not forget a new player joining or just spawning. All that and more is trying to kill you. (and people say Dark Souls is for masochist) The game is a top down dual joystick shooter, which is a fun style of game but not lasting in my opinion. It has a level up system to make yourself more badass, but it seems like it takes forever to earn the points and when you fully upgrade a weapon I never saw much of a difference. The game has so many support options that you can call into battle to save your ass. Except if you are in a real pickle you don't have time to press up, up,down, left, left, right, for an air strike. The game is hard as hell and if you are like me and enjoy more of a single player experience then this game isn't for you. Hell as a co-op focused experience I wish it was easier to get rid of trolls. I had a couple of times I was almost done with a planet and people joined and spent the entire time killing each other ruining my reward. Overall the game is long yet can get repetitive at the same time. If you have friends that own this I can see this being days of bug killing, robo-smashing fun. If you don't I'd honestly say don't bother because playing with random people can be frustrating and alone is kinda boring. I still like the game but could never recommend it to the average gamer. If you're looking for a co-op game to play with friend or girlfriend this is it. I give it a 3/5. I leave with a question. Why the hell can't we just get a Starship Troopers game already?

Resident Evil: Origins Collection7
Apr 21, 2020
What is Capcom to do with the Resident Evil series? Should they revamp it, or keep going with their current continuity? Neither in fact they decided they’d rather re-release all the same games we’ve already played; oddly I’m okay with that. Hello everyone B-rod here to with some reasons on why the Resident Evil Origins collection is not a half bad of a buy. Now before I get into this any further I am not a huge Resident Evil fan. I honestly have only played about five of the bazillion games to have come out, and not all the way to the end might I add. If you happen to be a purest or think I missed something about either of these two games then you are not wrong. So let’s find out how wrong I am. This collect for those who may have missed it is a forty dollar package that includes the HD version of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0. I have played both of these back in the day so was curious if my skills have gotten better with age or atrophied. What I found out is I’ve gotten better, but have little patience for **** Let me dive into what I mean so I started with Resident Evil, and was moving right along until I picked up a shield key and was lost on what to do. For those who may not know the first Resident Evil is a **** with inventory, and it just so happens that this shield key took up my last slot. Now in a normal game (even older ones) if you fill up your inventory there is some way to drop the item. Not in good ole Resident Evil. No in this game it allowed me to get **** over in the FIRST **** 15 MINUTES. Not a huge problem if I didn’t wonder the mansion for over an hour looking for the one door that this key went to. So I restarted the game and figured out where I was going by using a walkthrough which royally pissed me off. Let us just say I didn’t stick with Resident Evil for very long. Resident Evil 0 however was a blast. It was the good old school gameplay without the pain in the ass inventory clogging. Now it still has a limited inventory, but it at least lets you drop the **** you may not need at the moment. I made some good progress in this game much further than I did as a kid, and was glued to the screen. Unlike the first game with 0 I only had to use a walkthrough once to figure out what to do with the grapple gun. There are some issues with 0 that I need to bring up. Your AI partner will either waste their ammo shooting at everything that looks funny, or stand there and get their ass eaten alive. The other thing is present in both is the damned door load screen. Now I understand nostalgia reasons for having it, but who honestly misses that about Resident Evil? I never hear anyone think fondly of the **** door opening. On the PS4 it really is unacceptable, there is no way that game actually needs to load at all it should be open a door and in the next room. Now I will gloss over the story for a couple of reasons. First, most have seen the story many times. Secondly the story in both is **** dumb. The first Resident Evil is you play as either Chris or Jill as part of the S.T.A.R.S. task force and are chased inside this mansion filled with zombies and obituary keys. Then find out it is all made by the Umbrella Corporation blah, blah, blah. Resident Evil 0 is a prequel where you play as Rebecca the rookie and Billy the convict, and you are on a train full of zombies that bring you back to that annoying Mansion, because you can’t have a whole game on a train apparently. Overall if you dug the old Resident Evil games this is a no brainer, and you probably already own it. For those who are new rent, rent, rent. This is not for everyone the camera and controls are old school. You know about the **** off inventory. If you think games do too much hand holding now in days how about you give this a whorl and see if this is more up to your speed. In the end $40 for two games isn’t a bad deal. I give this a 3.5 out of 5.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers5
Apr 21, 2020
Spider-man, Ant Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the X-men are just some of the many, many heroes that you won’t see in Lego: Marvel Avengers. Hello everyone Brandon here, and I dove into the six hour campaign that was Lego: Marvel Avengers. Now that is six hours of story not **** around; just to be clear, but as a grown ass adult I don’t have time for collecting everything known to man. I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me dive into the story that makes this game…well exist really. I would call it a cash grab, but there are no movies out for months. I want to say that this is them out of ideas. Lego Marvel Super Heroes was an amazing game with hour upon hours of content, and with an original story. This game however is just The Avenger movies in Lego form. Normally when they adapt these franchises into Lego games they have three movies so that they can have a nice 8-9 hour game. This has two movies and it feels drawn out because of it. If they would’ve done a phase 1 game and next year released a phase 2 game my ton would be very different. With just the Avengers you get limited heroes and only four villains which is a stretch honestly. Compared to Lego Marvel Super Heroes where they had every hero you could think of same with a rouges gallery of villains. This game is just lacking in comparison. I will say though playing through these movies is just a stupid amount of fun. Playing through the scenes and going, “oh I remember that line, or hey here comes when Hulk grabs Loki” is just a ton of fun. The downfall of this is about half way through the game you’ll be thinking on how bad you’d rather just watch the movies then play this game. The game gets the feeling of the films down damn near exactly. They uses the same music cues when appropriate which just draws one. Of course being that it is a Lego game they have to make it cute and very, very family friendly. When showing how evil Loki is they have a scene where he is being just a **** to bunnies. They also have a very weird fascination with milkshakes. Seriously why milkshakes? Were they ever present in Avengers or even the MCU? I wouldn’t bring it up but this is a running gag that wasn’t funny or cute it was just off. The gameplay is that of a Lego game. The new thing they added which was pretty cool was special moves that two characters can perform to kill **** of enemies. An example of this is say you have Thor and Captain America when you press O Thor will electrify his hammer and his Cap’s shield creating an electric shockwave. These moves feel like they are right out of the movie and you get the team feel of the Avengers. The worst thing this game does is the filler gameplay. These are levels that only exist because they realized they only had a three hour game. They have a whole mission of when Agent Coulson talks to Tony Stark at the beginning of the Avengers. I seriously didn’t need a while 15 minutes of that one scene. This game is a game that in this guy’s opinion did not need to exist at all. It is not a bad game it just feels like Travelers Tales isn’t really trying with this, or even putting that much into it. If this had more actual level like I said all of Phase 1 or something like that I would have a different tone. If you have a kid this is perfect because they will dive into this trying to 100% it. Plus most of their exposer is mostly the movies. As for you comic fans out there we have a better Lego game that is already out and cheaper. Honestly go buy Lego Marvel Super Heroes instead of this. I say barrow this game at best if you have a friend who has already purchased it, then just borrow it from them spend zero amount of money. I give this a generous 2.5/5.

Not a Hero6
Apr 21, 2020
“That’s how astonishing it was. It made me want to touch your testicles.” Hello folks Brandon here, and that is one of the hundreds of insane lines you will hear from Bunny Lord in Not a Hero. Since last week nothing major came out I decided to download and give a shot the new game (to PSN) published by Devolver Digital. I must say they do not disappoint in the slightest. So let’s grab our shotguns and afterwards go to a diner for some celibately milkshakes. The story is weird, but quick to explain. Bunny Lord is an anthropomorphic rabbit from the future whose goal is to become mayor by cleaning up the town. How do you clean up the town? Quite simple actually you murder everyone who gets in your way. Now you do not play as Bunny Lord you play as an array of unique characters each with their own set of murder skills. To list a few you get Steve, Cletus, Mike, and Jesus. (Not Jesus but pronounced Hey-Zeus) The great thing about the story in this game is at no time does it ever feel like you are doing the right thing; which fits perfectly into the title because you are definitely not a hero. In fact you are if anything a mixture of the Punisher and the Joker, or at least Bunny Lord is. When you kill a gang leader they tend to beg for their life and Bunny Lord will brutally and without mercy kill them in the most 8 bit violent way you can see. I adore this because not only is this a very interesting take, but it leads for some funny ass dialog. I remember when I got more than half of the hostages killed in this one mission, and while celebrating at the diner for completing the mission Bunny Lord talks about how basically everyone makes mistakes, but oh well. I love a game that doesn’t give a **** about if you save everyone just as long as you slaughter the bad guys in the process. The story keeps up the crazy, but it is a text based so if you hate reading well just enjoy the gameplay. The gameplay is pretty amazing it is an 8 bit side scrolling cover based shooter. (If that isn’t a mouthful) The game is hard as **** with it all relying on your skill, memorization, and just overall good timing. As I already mentioned each character plays differently. They all use different guns and some have useful abilities such as reloading while running, or shooting through doors. What helps this game immensely is the fact that if you die (which you will) you respond instantaneously which can help against the losing rage. Just like games as Super Meat Boy if you die during the level in Not a Hero you must start the level over again. It can be frustrating, but the levels are only two minutes at a maximum. Sadly from what I can tell the game isn’t a very long game, but has the extra objectives to unlock new characters to add to the replay value. Saying that if you beat the game and unlock all the characters there isn’t much more to do. With levels being very liner this seems like a great game to play for a slow weekend. Overall with the game only being $15 you are better off saving you money. I praised it for gameplay and story which is fun and violent as hell the games length and content in general is just lacking. I’m definitely not saying to skip it by any means. I am saying wait for it to either go on sale for like $3 or become one of the PS Plus free games of the month. That is the best way to get this because this is the perfect game to play if you only have about 20 minutes to spare on it. I give this game a 3/5.

Far Cry Primal8
Apr 21, 2020
The game is best described as Far Cry meets The Beastmaster. (Look it up kiddos) You play as Boga Boga and you must stop the rival tribes from decimating you while you try and rebuild your own. Much in the Far Cry fashion you meet interesting characters such as balding chick who is fascinated with taking the ears of her enemies. The shaman who is constantly making you drink blood and getting you high as **** The dude who pisses on you, and a few more down the road. The villains however are vastly uninteresting to say the least. Unlike Far Cry 3 and 4 the villains in Primal are just there. You have a tribal leader who is a cannibal which the game attempts to have you pity him. Then some tribal leader who just likes to burn people alive for her God. You get three interactions with them a piece with all being brief and ultimately boring. The games story is boring it is just plain bad. There is nothing deep, nor crazy that has you wanting more. With this being in the caveman era I was hoping for more of a interesting new tale, and not just kill them because they are evil story. The game looks beautiful. While some say that it is a semi different version of Far Cry 4’s map you’d be hard-pressed to realize that while playing. I couldn’t tell you if the voice acting is good or bad being that they don’t speak English. I personally love the fact they don’t, but I can see a lot of people in the camp of, “Read! What the **** I ain’t reading **** My argument against that is would you rather them have British accent or New York, or even better a surfer accent? The gameplay is why I enjoy the hell out of this game. The combat is well… PRIMAL to say the least. You are either shooting arrow, using or throwing spears into people, or my personal favorite beating them to death with a club. Where the game truly shines is in the beast taming mechanic. Taming a beast means that other beast tend to **** off so you don’t get the horrible Far Cry thing of getting ****ed up by a badger. This game funny enough gets stupid easy the more you play, and I am perfectly okay with that. I hate it when you put 8+ hours into a game and the enemies just keep getting harder so you never feel like you’ve progressed at all. I love feeling like King **** of **** Mountain and making my enemies run in fear. The crafting can get tedious at times and constantly grabbing material can get annoying, but if you don’t mind it the gameplay is brutally phenomenal. Overall the game is a great 14+ hour experience with a ton to do and explore. You just might want to put a podcast on while you play because it has no deep rich story to speak of, and you have to read it anyways. I enjoyed the hell out of this game it is so far the best thing I’ve played in Q1 of this year, but The Division comes out tomorrow so we’ll see. I give this a 4/5, if you like Far Cry but were on the fence about this game you should buy it you won’t be disappointed. To the others I highly recommend checking it out we rarely get games like this and it is so cool and interesting I want to see more of these kind of games out there. Ubisoft took a chance on this game and I hope they get a good return investment out of it.

Quantum Break8
Apr 21, 2020
Do you want to time travel, but don’t want to be a teenage girl? Remedy thought of that and boy howdy do they have a solution for you. Quantum Break is that solution. Hello gaming folks Brandon here with a game I had no interest in, yet ended up really enjoying. To the point I can say this is one Xbox One exclusive that one MUST own. I shall get into this video game/TV hybrid **** now. The story is all about time travel. You play Jack Joyce or as I referred to him as the entire game as Iceman. You develop time manipulation abilities after an accident that occurred in a science lab. Okay I’m really not selling the story let me just say it has some predictable moments in it but the story is very entertaining. The gaming sections that is. So you get to choose where they story goes while playing as Petyr Baelish. After you do so the game will cut into a 20 minute episode of a TV show about the side characters. This is where the game falls a little bit for me. While the choice you make does matter the outcome is still the same very Telltale in that way. Unlike Telltale this little nitpick actually fits in the story, but it makes one wonder why give you an option in the first place? The sad part about the TV show is that it feels like it should be on the CW. The actors are all these pretty late 20’s people who are all very smug in some way. You follow generic white protagonist who is trying to save his wife from the whole time collapsing on itself thing. There are only four episodes that occur which isn’t a huge deal and I honestly feel like this was a good idea that opened the game’s story a little bit. It also gave the villains more personality, and mystery over being just the bad guys. I do see people outright hating this game with the statement, “I paid for a game not a TV show”. As we know you can never please everyone. I enjoyed this story immensely and if you hated Life is Strange like me maybe check this story out it is way less teenage hipster like. The game looks beautiful, the characters truly look like their respected actors. It kind of make you laugh at the character model of actors in PS2 movie games. The freezing in time is such a great look with everything frozen in the air it creates an awe. The voice acting is wonderful I don’t think anyone does a bad performance in this, well Sean Ashmore has some cheesed up lines, but I can’t tell if that is his fault or the script he was given. The game is a third person action game with a cover mechanic. The saving grace for the game is time manipulation powers. You can freeze time, create a bubble shield, and run fast through time to punch the **** out of some soldier. The Monarch villains (I couldn’t help but to think of The Venture Bros every time they say Monarch) vary throughout the game every act they will introduce a new baddy keeping the game fresh. The game short enough to never get boring or repetitive. It is about a 8-9 hour game. The bad parts of the game are few but leave a smear on it. The final boss fight is just annoying and almost made me rage quit. This is a personal preference of mine being that I hate fighting bosses while goons are trying to kill me. The second which is a big one is the game is buggy. I had enemies freeze on me to the point I only could kill them with a takedown. I had the game lock up on me twice, and the frame rate dipped on me a couple of times. Overall the game is super fun with a super hero feel without all that hero jazz. The main character may be a mass killing maniac with a one track mind, but he is still likeable as **** The gameplay is fun and interesting mixing Gears of War with Infamous. The bugs are few but glaring, yet they may be fixed later on. Last the show that is skippable isn’t the best but it has quite a bit of character development for the villains. I give this game a 4/5. I high recommend you buy this and hold it over the heads of your Sony friends, and let your PC friends tell you how much better it is on PC because it is what they do. Until next time friends, or next Space?

Ratchet & Clank (PS4)9
Apr 21, 2020
There is a movie based on a beloved franchise, and we can play the movie tie in game which is also a remake? God I feel like I need a flow chart to keep up with this nonsense. Hello everyone Brandon here again to talk to you all about Ratchet and Clank by Insomniac Games (they are the original creators). This is basically a reboot of the series and they realize that with them frequently making jokes saying “see you in the next reboot”. My only issue is there was really no need for a reboot because the series didn’t have a convoluted story or wasn’t getting tiresome like Resident Evil. I see these games sort of like Final Fantasy; except the series is based on two characters. The stories don’t really interject at all they could’ve just done a new adventure. The story is another origin story. Ratchet wants to be a Galactic Ranger, and Clank is a run-away faulty war bot. These two team up for a reason I’m not a 100% why, but they do and end up joining the Galactic Rangers. They must stop Dr. Nefarious from destroying planets with his planet harvesting weapon. It has no surprise twist this is a very fun light hearted story that just leaves you feeling like a kid afterwards. The story has an interesting twist with the whole thing being narrated by Captain Quark who is in prison for reasons that are obvious, but I’ll refrain from saying. He is such a great character and occasionally if you are **** around he will mention how Ratchet hated boxes with a fiery passion. If you want to see the movie I’d suggest seeing it before you play the game because this game to my knowledge follows the exact plot of the movie. Just with less talking and more ass kicking. The game looks beautiful and the characters all looks as they do except one. Dr. Nefarious isn’t half as cool as he looked in the original games. Instead of being some robot brain alien thing he is just an alien. This is a minor complaint it just didn’t make sense to keep everyone the same except him. Yet I don’t remember what he looked like in the original Ratchet and Clank so this may be spot on. The gameplay is something I missed and never thought I missed. 3D platformers are such a thing of the past and that is a damn shame. This game brought back the nostalgia of Ratchet and Clank while keeping it updated for this generation. What I mean is in the original you had to have so many bolts to continue. This means you have to go back to each map and be the bolt master. (Poor Pokémon joke) In this version you don’t need to do that at all and the maps are so linear you can easily 100% the game. The game is way easier than the original as well. The enemies are easier, and you can take more hits if you die. They introduce different mechanics as well. We get a stealth mission, some poor squirrelly flying sections and new funny deadly weapons. The weapons are amazing mixing old fan favorites with new bizarre ones. My fan favorite was Mr. Zurkon who is helpful against small enemies and talks **** the whole time. A new awesome one is this big ball that has an area attack that if leveled up is **** powerful. The gameplay has a very light RPG element and not violent at all so it is great for kids. The game is only 7-8 hours long with one mechanic I never understood with that being the trading cards they’ve added. They are supposed to give you a boost, but I never noticed nor did I care if I collected a whole set. Overall the game is fun to play with a funny light hearted story. With this coming out at the same time as Dark Souls 3 it is nice to have a relaxing game to just wipe away all frustrations. If you have kids I say buy this game for them and watch them melt away hours. If you are a fan of the series this game holds up super well and will give you nostalgia kick like no other so buy. Last if you never played a Ratchet and Clank game I recommend that you rent this. If you end up liking it this is a short enough game to blow through a weekend and have a wonderful weekend doing it. I give this game a 4.5 out of 5. I take off of the flying, dumb ass card collecting and the fact they changed one character into a less cool version of the original.

Dark Souls III9
Apr 21, 2020
The pain, oh the pain feels so good! Hello folks Brandon here being unusually masochistic this month with Dark Souls 3. I adore the Souls games, but unlike some of you badass gamers out there I can only ever get half way. Basically I wish I was just better at the games. The idea of the Dark Souls 3 is intriguing to me. Challenging gameplay with a hidden story and death that actually has meaning. Almost three weeks I’ve been at this **** and I’ve barely scratched the surface of it, but time continues to go on and so do the new games so this review is basically the first third of the game. (I killed the first Lord of Cinder) The games story from my understanding is that these Lords of Cinder don’t want to relight the flame of the world so your job is to go in and kill them. I think so you can relight the world I am not a hundred percent. Seriously you paste the game together by talking to people so if you are paying attention to literally everything around you then you can make up your story so that is what I did. My story is about Jerry the mercenary potter. He was looking for the nearest convenience store when suddenly these naughty Cinder Lords said his mom was a fat cheeky divvy. Not knowing what it meant (whether good or bad) Jerry decided that he would kill these Lords and use their ashes to make a wonderful pot for his defiantly none cheeky or divvy mother. That was my story what is yours you made up while playing this game? The game looks beautiful, and for those of you who are unfamiliar with Dark Souls being able to see a place in the distance and knowing, “at some point I’m going to die there” is marvelous. A weird issue I have is the preset faces all look like the bastard offspring of Gollum. They all are horrific looking so say if you wanted to make a cool adventurer you are going to half to spend some time in the character creation. The soundtrack during the boss fights as always are epic. You really feel like each boss encounter is one to be remember. In in most games the badass audio only kicks in towards the end, but Dark Souls each boss is the final boss in some way. The gameplay is so unique you can honestly say it plays like a Souls game. For those who don’t know Souls games they are a RPG’s with no forgiveness…well some. There is so much to this game the basics are you get souls for killing your enemies and if you die you go back to the spawn point which is a bonfire. When you die or rest at a new/same bonfire ever enemy (excluding bosses) comes back to life so you will have to fight them again. If you die all the souls you had dropped, and if you die without picking them up you lose them. The souls are money/experience so you really don’t want to lose them. Since Dark Souls can be played a number of different ways I will only be talking about how my character was being played. I picked a class called mercenary he is one of seven classes I think. I played the game as a sword and shield fighter with light on the shield. The shields in this game are only really good for parrying (which is a pain in the ass) or blocking projectiles. My main skills were all close range of course with my focus being on evading. I will admit I ran a lot through this game. If I didn’t have to fight an enemy there is a good chance I didn’t. This could be a hindrance, but **** is it less frustrating to deal with. I had some help from an online co-op partner on the first Lord of Cinder, and I must say if you have an issue with a boss call some help. Some people are ****ing monsters in this game. I am more of a scared…potter (sticking with that joke) I met some allies throughout the story which is nice but they usually **** right off after you say hi. The game is so long I am only 12 hours into it and barely scratched the surface so those who don’t get many games keep that in mind. Overall the game is fantastic with no bugs that I saw and gameplay that can sometimes be a pain, but in the end is super satisfying when you do what you thought impossible. I recommend those who know this game series to go buy it I enjoy it more than Dark Souls 1 and 2. It is the best in the series which is rare for the third game to be. I give this a 4.5 out of 5. With the caveat that you know this game is going to bat you around for a bit until you get used to the world. It has a learning curve so if you aren’t into spending sometime of getting your ass kicked then maybe skip this game, or rent to see if maybe this is a good fit for you. I end this with a simple request. Tell me your experience with this game good or bad I love a good gaming story of failure or conquer. Also whether or not you enjoyed it.

Lichdom: Battlemage0
Apr 21, 2020
You’re a wizard Harry, but not The Dragon you seriously don’t want to be The Dragon. Why? Because that would mean you are associated with Lichdom Battlemage, and you want to avoid that like the **** plague or those Nazgul **** from the Harry Potter movies. Hello everyone Brandon here with what quite possibly might be the worst game I’ve played all year. Now I must say this is the console version only I hear decent things about the PC version of Lichdom Battlemage, but Xbox One version can lick my taint. I was thinking 2016 was being a decent year not too many great games so far, but from what I played no piles of **** either. Until now. Let’s see how making you an overpowered mage with fire, ice and psychic powers can be even close to being a piss poor game. The story is of course generic as all hell. You are The Dragon which is a mage who can shoot fire from his hands and it is your job to free the land from this darkness that has been oppressed by this dark magic. Not personal enough for the players? Let the main characters wife/girlfriend get killed and now you have to go out on revenge. Well not only is it cliché to find out you are some “chosen one”, but you need revenge on the mustache twirling bad guy as well. The game doesn’t have a deep nor interesting story in the slightest. It seemed like a bit later in the game they were trying to maybe build it more into an epic, but good Christ I couldn’t care less if what happened to anyone in this game. The story is about as interesting and almost the same one as Arcania Gothic 4 which I reviewed last year and hated that just as bad. The game looks God awful, and with this being a delayed game I’d love to know how. Seriously how the hell do you make an Xbox One game look as if it was an Original Xbox game? I’m not being internet hyperbolic this game looks like a blocky mess, and it is so dark on my bright ass TV I think they did that to hide the ****ty textures. The game doesn’t stop there they said, “Jim we made the game look like ass how can we make it sound like **** as well?” Well they came up with that solution by ****ty voice acting. I think they got the original Resident Evil actors and told them to just try and sound witty. All of this might make for at least a mediocre game if the gameplay was at least fun. Sadly it is boring and a bit confusing. So it is a first person mage game, or the slowest FPS you’ve ever played. Imagine if you played Skyrim in first person and could only use magic spells. Now take away 75% of the spells you’d get in Skyrim, and then make them barely usable. Sounds fun? They kept telling me I could mix spells and make them more powerful, but for the life of me I couldn’t do anything of the sort. I think I leveled up my magic, but I never noticed a difference. Say if you wanted to freeze an enemy with ice then hit him with a fire ball. Well switching between spells is so slow by the time the fireball is ready the enemy is already free. Basically I ended up just sticking with the fire power because it seemed like the only power that did a **** thing. I do admit with my go, go attitude when it comes to tutorials in games I may have missed something, but it is up to the game to at least make the basics of what the game is up front. So if all that isn’t enough the games frame rate is **** It is a jittery mess, and this is noticeable to me a guy who couldn’t tell 30 frames per second to 60. Then the icing on the cake is generic enemies that range from brown blobby cultist (remember bad graphics) to skeletons. I know skeletons oh lord they must’ve been up all night thinking of that starting enemy. I didn’t finish the game so I can say how long it was, but damn I just don’t have time to put into playing **** damn unplayable games. So I know by now you are definitely wondering the score, right? Ha. Let me say if you see this at a garage sale and they will sell it to you for a quarter. You call them a snake oil salesman and go buy **** you earned that gumball by avoiding this sack of **** game. I had a frown the entire time playing this game. I give it a 0/5. **** this game, and **** whoever decided that this was a finished product.

Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series9
Apr 21, 2020
If someone a year ago asked me my favorite Borderlands game I would say Borderlands 2. That is not the case anymore Tales from the Borderlands is without a doubt my favorite in the Borderlands game, and it isn’t even technically a Borderlands game. Telltale has done it again with this spin off game about non-badass characters surviving in the world of Borderlands. Unlike the rest of their games that are grim and dark this keeps the Borderlands feel like dark humor, weird humor, and well just being funny as hell. I haven’t gushed about a Telltale game in sometime so I apologies in advance for this review. The games story is mainly a flashback story from the point of view of two characters Rhys and Fiona. Rhys is a company man from Hyperion who is trying to basically become the big guy on top by finding a vault. Fiona is a con artist who ends up teaming up with Rhys in a search for treasure. They of course have a cascade of characters like Sasha who is Fiona’s sister, to Vaughn who is Rhys’s best friend. Or **** villain Vasquez who is hunting Rhys voiced by Patrick Warburton. The games story is so frigging great I am afraid to give any details on any specifics because it is something you must experience for yourself. I will say there are many cameos that happened and the story does take place after the events of Borderlands 2 which is very significant. Oddly I tried to get what I could of an evil ending by making character choices that were clearing in the wrong and still ended up with a happy ending. So that basically means Telltale hasn’t changed in the choices department. You can make choices but regardless what you choose you will still end up in the same place. I will say some characters won’t make it based on your choices so that is a plus from typical Telltale style where if someone was going to die you could only delay it and not prevent it. The story is the only reason to play this game and each episode leaving you with this must play feeling. It is the only way I could play these episodic games, because being forced to wait another five months for the next episode would be excruciating. The games graphics are an interesting mix between Borderlands and Telltale. It is hard to explain but if you have played both then you’d understand the graphics I’m talking about. Basically the characters are more Telltale than Borderlands but the colors and shading are Borderlands like. The games music is some amazing work. Each song isn’t an original song but fits so well. I know the song Kiss the Sky by Shawn Lee is one of my favorite songs in this. The voice acting of course is amazing with big time professionals like Troy Baker, Nolan North, and previously mentioned Patrick Warburton. The game plays exactly like any other Telltale game. It is an adventure like game covered in timed story choices and quick time events almost impossible to lose. The one issue I really have with this games and it is a big one is the fact there is no replicability to them. Telltale games are all great the first time you play them, but once you know the outcome of your choices it is less of an impact and I personally lose interest with them. For the price they are these games are great for a one and done deal. Overall while the game has been out for a while if you are like me and love playing an entire story all at once definitely get this game it is well worth playing. Only if you know that this is a story driven game with limited gameplay, it is only six hours long, and if you can rent it you should because it is a one and done kind of game. I loved this game and think about the story and outcomes since I beat it three days ago. Before I give a rating I have to say it is only $20 for this experience so if you can’t rent it then buy it because this is so worth the money for the experience you get from it. I give it a 4.5/5. Well gamers Brandon (yeah third person) would love to hear your thoughts on this game as well. What did you think? Put it in the comments below and I’d love to chat about it. Until next time.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided9
Apr 21, 2020
Hello internets like Deus Ex Mankind Divided B-rod here back in the saddle again to review a game. Deus Ex series is for a special kind of gamer, one that is into heavy science fiction, lots of complicated dialog, and one that loves crawling through man-sized vents. I am new to this series the games always eluded my radar one way or another I always managed to just miss them. I will say being missed out on Human Revolution so much of the background to this game made little to no sense. Now they explain it in this 15 minute Spark Notes version of what happened. Yet… somehow with Adam Jensen’s monotone voice describing everything that happened my eyes kind of glossed over and I was day dreaming. Honestly if someone can describe what happened in the first game I’d love it. I digress. Deus Ex Mankind Divided takes place in a world where people are augmented and the normal humans hate the **** out of them. I think is a kick ass concept that hits a bit close to home with all that is happening. You are Adam Jensen an augmented badass who sounds like he smoked 150 packs of cigarettes because someone dared him to. This new terrorist group of augmented people are out there, and they happen to do the terrorist thing of blowing **** up. It is up to Adam Jensen to solve the mystery any way he can. Which leads into some interesting twist and turns, and ends kind of abruptly. I was having fun then boom game winning trophy winner is me. The game allows you to play three different ways, but only one ever worked for me. You can play completely stealthy saving after every room and meticulously looking for any short-cut you can take. Or you can play balls to the wall killing spree, and pray that the guy you killed has enough bullets so you aren’t completely **** by the next room. Last, which is what I played you can do a mix of both being all sneaky like until you are seen then balls to the wall. The game never punishes you for killing people which is super great because killing is just amazing in video games. I took out almost an entire police station to steal some evidence, and I’m still the hero. Remember kids killing cops is okay only if you really need to steal from them. The leveling up is complicated at first, but makes way more sense as time goes on. The final thing I can say is **** this final boss. They are such a pain in the ass if you are like me and **** ass at stealth. It took me multiple tries to take out the **** and honestly I’m fairly sure I took him out by accident. Just to warn you. Overall the game looks great and plays like very few shooters on the market. I will say if you are looking for something different then the Call of Duty formula this is your game. It is a dense fiction heavy story telling RPG that doesn’t disappoint that lets you play as you want. I enjoyed the hell out of this game with no prior engagement to the previous games so new comers are welcome. Maybe wiki some of the backstory details. I give this a 4.5/5.

XCOM 27
Apr 21, 2020
In 2012 we got Xcom Enemy Unknown which brought back turn based strategy on the console. I adored Enemy Unknown and pushed people to play the ever loving **** out of it. Xcom 2 takes what was good about the original Xcom and makes it difficult to the nth degree. The game has so much bull**** that occurs that it makes it more stressful than fun. I know there are some General S. Pattons out there that never lost a soldier, but I found myself constantly reloading after a plethora of swears exited my mouth. Hopefully I don’t spend this whole review **** about this game because there are many positives, but the things that pissed me off just truly chapped my ass. The game’s premise is humanity has integrated with the aliens and you return as the Commander. You are leading the resistance to kick these alien **** off of our planet. The story from there is basically make it up as you go along. Eventually you unlock story bits like them using humans as energy. (I wonder where they got that from?) But for the most part it is just the character talking in length on how important getting our planet back is. The gameplay is a squad based turned based strategy game. Those who don’t know think if Gears of War cover based game with the squad taking turns and missing half the **** time. I’m going to try and get the positives out first before my negatives. The game is truly fun when you are in combat. When one of your soldiers takes out one of their alien snake **** then you just feel good. The customization of your soldiers is a stupid amount of fun. FYI do not make your friends then tell them you put them in the game, because when you tell them “oh you died in the game” you oddly are shammed more than you’d think. The classes for your troops are few but important you have sniper, engineer, heavy gunner, and assault. I do love that each class is a must for the mission you would fail fairly quick if you sent in a squad of snipers into battle. It is nice to have an diverse team. The game has a base build feature which was somehow more complicated than the first game. I never really knew what I needed to actually have. They leave it free form but a little handholding wouldn’t be a sin in my book. The game also has way too many counting clocks in it. Many missions you have so many turns until mission fail, or the story has this doom clock that is counting down to slow it down you must do main missions. The issue is the main missions are difficult for my troops to undertake so the game is constantly is me sending my guys out on this Dirty Dozen suicide mission. I sit there and tell my troops “most of you won’t make it out of this alive. I’m sorry, but I **** as a commander.” That is really my main issue with this game it starts you out nice and slow, but jacks the difficulty up so high you are just getting **** in the ass constantly. Example of this the have these enemies who can clone themselves, turn off your weapons (forces you to have to reload), and teleport. That is an overpowered enemy, and they are a common foe. Sadly I know my issues with the game stem more off my lack of skill then the game itself. I just found the game barrier of entry higher than the first which ended up hindering my enjoyment of it. I didn’t hate the game as much as I wanted to. I give it a 3/5. I feel like if you are a badass strategist and bent the first game over and made it your **** then get this game. If you just enjoyed the game or are curious about this one I say rental for sure. It is worth checking out. I only wish it was amazing, and a bit more mainstream so we can get a few more turn based strategy games. Well folks this is B-rod saying if aliens come to Earth do not put me in charge of the resistance.

Mafia III8
Apr 21, 2020
Do you like the Punisher? Have you ever thought what if he was in the 70’s and black? If you answered yes to either of those then I have a game for you. Aloha B-rod here trying to get back into reviewing stuff so I’m writing and releasing a bunch of reviews of the games I played the last two months and I must start with Mafia 3. This was probably my most anticipated game this year, and oh boy sticking to 2016 feels it was a disappointment. The game's story is great and simple. It is a revenge story through and through. It doesn’t get crazy and there aren’t any whoa it turns out you were crazy the whole time twist. I actually dug the **** out of this story it was fun and engaging, and like I said you were the **** Punisher so the scenes where Lincoln (main character’s name) is slow walking to a mobster while he is begging, “man I had nothin to do with what happened”; that could give a nun a murder boner. Sadly, what kills the story is the fact the game is padded out with you taking over district by district just to progress. This isn’t new to video games Assassin’s Creed is a game that has this mechanic, but in Assassin’s Creed THE WHOLE THING IS OPTIONAL. This is the second game this year that had things that are optional in most games, but mandatory in theirs. Look if I want to go after the booze ring and blow up each wearhouse doing the same goddamn thing over and over I should be able to, and even be rewarded for doing so. Making this mandatory to finish the game is just padding the **** out. I don’t need my game to be 15-20 hours 8 hours is sometimes more fun if it makes the story flow nicer, and having variety. I can’t help but compare this to GTA V which did this concept better, longer, and made the side missions SIDE MISSIONS. I do want to talk about what I like in the gameplay. I love how the combat works it doesn’t **** around. It is very cover orientated, but the AI is smart enough to maneuver you out from being in one place the whole time as well. The kills are brutal and bloody you feel like you’re there to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and you bought Juicey Fruit so the flavor didn’t last and you’re pissed. I also loved the soundtrack to this game you give me that 60s-70s music and I’m there. They have Rolling Stones, CCR, Jefferson Airplane, and Elvis Presley etc… The game also is beautiful as all hell especially in the pre-rendered cut scenes damn did they put some time into these graphics. Overall the game is not a bad game in fact if you don’t try and power through it like I did then all the tedious inbetween mandatory missions won’t be so bad. When I was murdering mobsters I had a smile from ear to ear it is murderlicious. The game’s story is fun, and makes the main character have the wallet that says BAMF on it. I give this a 4/5 it would’ve been perfect if it just was a tighter game. Alrighty one review down 4 more to go

Gears of War 49
Apr 21, 2020
Gears of War is a bit like Star Wars in a sense it has a pretty damn good original trilogy with people arguing over the first or the second being the best in the series. The series thankfully has only one **** prequel that somehow has the trappings of what made the originals good, but missing the point entirely. All this leads to one conclusion then. Gears of War 4 is the Force Awakens of the Gears of War series. It brings back the characters you love with adding new likeable fun characters as replacements. Has a new yet in a way old familiar enemy, and is all about you getting reintroduced into the world of Gears. I know a hell of an intro to get into this review, but anyways B-rod here, and I love the **** out of Gears of War 4. When I first saw this game I thought, “oh great they are going to milk Gears of War for all it’s worth.” I was right technically, but the team at The Coalition took some time and care into making this game, and made it a fun experience. The game’s story is about Marcus Fenix’s son James Fenix and his two squad/friends embarking on a mission to find out what happened to their village which was attacked by these unknown creatures. The mystery is not deep but engaging, but what really sold this game to me was the characters. James, Kait, and Del they were charming, funny and just overall characters you wanted to follow. I like Marcus Fenix, but he was always a cardboard cutout Conan type character. James is a funny likeable rogue who you’d want to follow long after the game is over. I can’t tell you how much I dug this story and character especially since I thought this game would be just another Judgement fail. The gameplay is exactly what sequels are supposed to be. It keeps the core gameplay the same, and just adds upon it. It doesn’t retool how the gameplay works making it less fun entirely Gears of War Judgement. (I’m JUDGING the hell out of that game right now). Adding in the weather as a hazard while you fight is such a kickass obstacle that I honestly never knew I needed. The worst part of this game is the beginning where the first two act of the game you’re fighting robots. These **** things are not only boring to kill, but are bullet sponges to the point of annoyance. Once you fight the real enemy of the game which are called the Swarm that’s where you get into that good ole Gears we know and love. Even the Swarm have creatures that are interesting to fight and keep you on your toes. They force you not to just sit there shooting at them with your Lancer until they explode. It sorta felt like a fight in Bloodborne with how often you were forced to dodge and shoot. The game looks like a Gears game. It’s the best looking by far, but nothing that is unfamiliar as it were. Overall if you never played a Gears of War game before I wouldn’t recommend it because I feel like you’d be missing something that the typical Gears player would see. If you are a Gears fan, but were turned off by Judgement by all means get this game it is my favorite of the games since Gears of War 2 came out. I did not expect to love this as much as I did and I have to give it 4.5/5. If it wasn’t for that first two acts fighting nothing but robots I would’ve gave it a perfect score. Until next time folks.

Battlefield 17
Apr 21, 2020
UGH!! It’s time for another WW2 FPS that we’ve played a 1000 times. Will this have D-day in it? Wait… This isn’t WW2 but takes place in World War 1! **** yes I’m in. Hello everyone B-rod here again to talk about the latest Battlefield. EA has said enough of this modern war, and you guys didn’t buy enough copies when we did future war so let’s do a war that is hardly ever covered in the media World War 1. If you’re like me a love history knowing the historical facts about how truly brutal and terrifying trench warfare is would make you super excited before this game came out. Sadly you can’t really make sitting in a trench for weeks into a game, but what they did came out fantastic. The game actually has a story, unlike typical FPS stories where you follow one character who somehow is at every important battle in history you follow five different characters all from different countries, all different styles of gameplay. You follow the British tank crew, an American pilot, an Italian soldier who plays like a walking tank, a Australian sharpshooter, and a Syrian I believe that is hanging with Lawrence of Arabia. This stories are great little snippits of the war and all play out as if you were watching a short film with these characters. The story isn’t super long, but because the stories are all so different in gameplay it acts as a tutorial to the multiplayer. That what everyone gets Battlefield for the the multiplayer and I must say holy **** is that fun. I personally love this multiplayer because it really captures the hecticness of war. There are times you are in firefight were bullets and explosions are happening all around you, and then out of the blue some crazy **** on a horse comes charging at you, and you forgot to reload… This gameplay seems authentic enough to how battles were fought except the zero trench warfare. This is just me, but I do with there was either a story mission or a beginning of a multiplayer segment where you must jump out of the trenches and full on charge at the enemy encampment. Load in your pants dropping fun. The game only had a couple of hiccups in the multiplayer, and the vehicles never to seem to be overpowering, but if utilized correctly can be very dangerous. I personally had a great tank crew for over half a match we were the scourge of the battlefield. Until the enemy team had us outnumbered two to one in fire power, but it still was just the greatest experience having that badass tank crew that can mop the floor with the enemy team. The game looks beautiful, with the guns seeming authentic honestly with the decade of WW2 shooters I only know that era of guns, and not so much The Great War era of weaponry. Overall if you’re looking for a fantastic large scale multiplayer look no further than Battlefield 1. If though you’re a more single player focused gamer I’d honestly say skip even if you’re into historical games or were excited by the trailers. The singleplayer is so short that it acts more like a tutorial than an actual single player experience. I personally hope World War 1 turns into the new thing FPS shooters milk because I’d love to see what they can do with that era. Until next time folks.

Titanfall 27
Apr 21, 2020
We all clamor for mech games, who wouldn’t giant robots kicking the **** out of each other seems like every 14 year olds dream. Titanfall 2 takes it one step further with making your Titan a snarky Vulcan. Hello B-rod here and damn I wish I had a giant robot mech suit to follow me around and just be my buddy. I love how Respawn thought and said, “what if we made Call of Duty fast pace like Doom, and had mechs in it as well?” Here we have Titanfall. Thankfully Titanfall 1 didn’t do that well so maybe gaming companies realize customers still like having a single player experience no matter if it is short or long a good portion of people like a story. Now Titanfall 2 storyline isn’t deep. Honestly if it wasn’t for your Titan being as I put it a snarky Vulcan then the game's dialog wouldn’t even be that interesting. You play as Cooper a grunt who very early on becomes a Titan pilot because these group of mercenaries working for the **** Empire (I forget what they villians are called it is basically Empire and Rebels) killed off your entire unit. The first half of the game you and your Titan are surviving and the second half you are fighting back. The overall plot honestly is like a Star Wars film where the Imperials get this weapon that can destroy planets, and you and the Rebels are going to stop them. Instead of a Vader it’s like if Boba Fett and the other bounty hunters were your main antagonist. Speaking of the mercenaries; while fairly generic they were some of the most interesting characters in the game… then again there weren’t many present honestly. The game is only 5-6 hours long with no real replay value which hurts it a lot for me. The story will be largely forgettable even with a bit of feels towards the end it is nothing to write home about. What is something to write home about is the gameplay. The game plays well like if Doom, Call of Duty, and Armor Core all had some sick threesome and this would be their unholy offspring. That might paint it in a bad light, but **** this game is fun to play. The game if fast pace, with interesting different weapons. The movement with the jumping from wall to wall adds interesting jumping puzzles and combat. Weapons that make enemies blow up into a paste make me as giddy as a schoolgirl. That’s just the ground combat fighting in a Titan is extremely satisfying and more fun than it has any right to be. The boss fights are all different with adding a different layer of challenge to them. The game is very cinematic fitting to West and Zampella’s style of games they created in the past. All this saves their meh story and makes it a popcorn game if such a thing exist. The game looks good worthy of next gen, but nothing that make my socks leave my feet in a blowing motion. The voice acting is well this game is acted like a B movie except that damn Titan. They give that Titan funny lines, but also the most emotional ones in the game I loved that **** thing. Overall if you never played the first one or even hated the first Titanfall I would still recommend that you give this a rental. For years people have been asking for more mech games; well now you have it so check it out at the very least. I give this game a solid 3.5/5 it was a fun experience that is well worth getting at a bargain rate. Unless you’re super into the multiplayer there is no real reason to play this game more than once. Until next time folk I’m B-rod and I’m gonna go play more mech Vulcan.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare9
Apr 21, 2020
Normally I start a review out with a on the spot joke that three people laugh at, but I need to say something that has been bugging me right now. If you hate Call of Duty Infinite Warfare without playing based on whatever stupid reason you can justify in your head all I can say is shut the **** up. So what if this isn’t the Call of Duty you wanted it is still an amazing game. Hello internet folks B-rod, and I must say Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is the best game since Black Ops 2. They put a **** load of work into this game to make it great. This is what sequels are supposed to be it takes the formula that we are used to and adds upon it to make it a new game. If you just want the same FPS experience then play the same ****ing game, and let the rest of us play the new one that’ll add a new experience. The game story is fantastic it takes place in the year of the future ( I have no clue what year) and a war has broken out with the people living on Mars and the people of Earth. You play Generic White Man the 4th who is basically more seriously less wanting to bang everything Captian Kirk. You are going against evil Jon Snow. I joke because Kit Harington plays the villain, but even the mannerisms are like if Jon Snow was just a villain instead of righteous hero. Sadly Kit Harington is the least compelling character in this game, which is probably because he is hardly in it. My personal favorite character is the robot companion Ethan. In my last review I said how charming the Titan was in Titanfall 2. No. **** that Titan Ethan is where it is at. Ethan is a funny, sarcastic, hero. Ethan is if Han Solo was a droid instead of a scruffy looking nerf herder. The story can be played by plowing through just the story missions or you can do the variety of side mission which vary from space combat or boarding enemy vessel to blow it up from the inside. The game is very cinematic with each main story beat either having me scream “oh **** or just having me very engaged to what was happening on the screen. That’s great and all, but how’s the gameplay? The gameplay is Call of Duty in space; which we’ve seen already. What is new is the space combat the dog fighting is very enthralling probably because it is in space, but it is just super fun. The future tech is interesting I like that they added new guns that aren’t just machine gun, sniper, shotgun. You get a big ass gun that shoots a stream of laser that’ll eviscerate your enemy. It helps that it made me think of the weapons in District 9. For all you multiplayer fans I can’t say a damn thing to that because I just didn’t have time to cry for three hours. So maybe that is what everyone has a problem with I honestly don’t know. Overall I loved this game, and only wish Activision didn’t screw around with making the $80 bundle with Modern Warfare, because I think that put a bad taste in people’s mouth, and they didn’t need to do it because this is a solid game. I say if you are a fan of the Call of Duty story definitely check it out. To the nah sayers out there I say rent this game seriously give this a shot, because this is a solid entry I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I did. I give this a 4.5/5 I couldn’t give it a perfect score only because I didn’t touch the multiplayer.

For Honor6
Apr 21, 2020
Who’d win in a fight heavy armored slow guys, heavy armored fast guys, or no armored crazy guys? If that question has ever came up with you and your friends well does For Honor not answer that at all. For Honor is the latest and newest IP from Ubisoft and I have to say they almost had a great game here. I’m getting to far ahead of myself I’m B-rod and I’m reviewing For Honor!! The game has a story mode that felt so tacked on that you almost could see the board members screaming, “WE NEED A STORY MODE. YOU SAW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN BATTLEFRONT DIDN’T HAVE ONE”. This to me is a prime example **** that should be multiplayer only, but while I say that the story mode had some fun parts. The set pieces and some of the boss fights were fun as **** The characters you play as… well two of them seem like they could’ve had an interesting story. You start with the Knight campaign where you are a knight who has been recruited into the Black Stone Legion. Which sounds like my Swedish metal band. You basically help the villain Apollyon start a war. A game with just this character could actually be interesting, but we have two more campaigns so eh **** it. Then we have the Viking campaign which did fell like the eh **** it campaign. I had no clue why you were doing anything, and quite honestly they seemed like they were just there. The game gave zero ****s about the Vikings they are sort of the worst faction to play as. Last you get the Samurai campaign where you play a disgraced samurai and you are hunting down the Black Stone Legion to put an end to them. This last campaign showed me that they really had two stories to tell, but had to cut them short to have the Vikings shoved in there. The story is a short 6-hour campaign that serves as a great tutorial to the actual game. The actual game is the multiplayer where it is a battle for dominance between three factions. Or honestly two because no one but me and like 6 people picked the Viking faction so were are just getting our asses kicked (the first week at least). Regardless you can battle other online foes or bots which are badasses compared to what you fight in story, but still stupid at times. I will say that if you don’t have the combat down to a T then you’ll be in trouble fast and only end up feeling super noobish. The combat is the best part of the game. It is the strategic blocking, counter attack system that is hard to describe except look at Game of Thrones on how they fight and you’ll get an idea. It really is something to marvel at, and I’d love to see it in a 40-hour RPG. In saying that it takes time to get used to, and online you can either get into these badass fights, or some dude spamming one button over and over cause it is nearly unblockable. You can customize the **** out of your warriors and gear if you really care about that **** It can feel a bit free to playish because they want you to earn it by paying the iron price or with actual money can you buy fake money for better gear. (Boo indeed) Overall if you get the chance definitely rent this game to see if it is your cup of tea. It is something new and different from what we are used to and I appreciate that. Know this the game is made for online if you are a story kind of guy or have **** internet this game is not worth your time. I give this a 3/5 for the gameplay and just being a new IP I’m more lenient on it for that. Until next time brothers in arms go hack some limbs off.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate7
Apr 21, 2020
This is Konami's answer or should I say MercurySteam's answer to those complainers. How? You maybe wondering well sir or madam they made this game in the good ole Metrovania style that everyone including me loves. This game is a 3D-2D plat former if that makes any sense at all. It also is no longer a 3DS game it is now out of the Xbox Live Market Place so all us people who don't own a handheld can now rejoice in the fact we get to play the sequel to Lords of Shadow. The plot to this game is one of revenge and well the beginning of the war between the Belmont family and Dracula. You first step in the shoes of Simon Belmont. He was the hero in the first Castlevania game and boy does he look way different than I imagine. Who would've guessed Simon was a ginger? Not this gaming Critic. You play as Simon and it seriously feels like a baby between Castlevania on the NES and Lords of Shadow. Simon doesn't really speak a whole ton but the game picks up in the second and third act when you get to play as Alucard. Alucard is Dracula's son and he is looking out for Simon most of the game, honestly if you can't figure out the secret identity of this character while playing the game I pity you but I also will not spoil it. As Alucard the game picks up because he has a lot more of an interesting goal and more of a backstory. Simon literally is just revenge!!! Alucard is more just coming with the terms he is monster and trying to clean up the mess his father has made. You don't get to see a ton of Dracula in this game but you do fight him so that's a plus in a lot of ways this feels like Symphony of the Night with the certain bosses you fight. The ending was rather cool I almost felt it made up for the lack of story. Sadly kids to get the true ending you have to get 100% and this ending just gives you a bit of closer on the game overall. The graphics are well how nice can I put this? **** on toast, that's about as nice as I can put this the only reason why they **** is because this game was originally a 3DS game. Now I'm not saying the handheld looked bad but be in mind it was on a tiny screen. In order to put in on a big screen they should've took a lot more time making it look better. The game is cell shaded or lazy man graphics. Cell Shading has become this thing where if you don't want to have to use the top notch graphics use cell shading so people will give it a pass. I've had it with this graphical style in my video games but I do understand budgets so nothing I can do. The sound in this game is generic. The voice acting is bare minimum, so much so I can't fairly judge it. The music wasn't that memorable either the only thing I give credit to would be the creature sounds, but even that is a bunch of rawr and brallabb. The gameplay like I said was Metrovania, it's a side scrolling platforming, puzzle based game beat em up. I know one hell of a category that's why we go with Metrovania. This game does have a level up system which I honestly didn't understand what happened when I leveled up. You also find pick up items that increase health and magic, and a side idem like throwing axes or holy water. If what I am explaining sounds like older Castlevania that's because this is a lot like that. The changes are they do have quick time events I know boo. They also have the combat system from Lords of Shadow. It is less God of War like and more like a modern side scroller. I do believe this is the new way we will see Metrovania games or at least I hope so. This game also has a difficulty setting that only Lords of Shadow had if you are new to these games I would say put it on easy it'll be a great way to dip your toe in. While I am not new I needed to fly through it so I put it on easy it was very stress free which I know you arm chair bad-asses can say what you will I honestly don't care. It isn't terribly long ****, I can see story only clocking in at about 4 hours. Now if you go back an do a new game plus thing and you really explore I can see it being a nice 6-7 hours of gameplay. Now 15 dollars for this may seem excessive to some and the die hard fans may already own this. I can't recommend full price for this game unless you like all yes Lords of Shadow and Old style Castlevaina games. The new people wait, just wait for Xbox Live to have a sale and get it for like ten dollars find it for a bargain. My overall thoughts and rating of this game is while it's not perfect the game is still ton of fun and very good mix of old and new Castlevania. Many won't like this game as much as I did some even more but I give this a fair rating of 3.5 out of 5.
