Clerks III6
Oct 25, 2022
Not as good as the first two Clerks movies. At times it gets a little too meta and self-referential and dumb, but it filled me with some nostalgia and made me laugh at some scenes.

Black Adam5
Oct 25, 2022
It's not a great **** script is weak, dialogue is atrocious, villian is weak, some characters feel annoying and pointless. **** has a few very entertaining action scenes, the visual effects are great for the most part, and some characters shine (Eg - Dr Fate). Overall, it was entertaining enough to watch although I don't feel the need to watch it again. It's a one and done for me.

Thirteen Lives7
Aug 17, 2022
A dumb title... but it's a solid entertaining re-telling of an incredible rescue story. It's a little overly-dramatised but never loses it sense of realism and stakes. The acting is solid and the film succeeds in creating a tense atmosphere of urgency and claustrophobia.

Nope7
Aug 14, 2022
It's a very interesting premise and Jordan Peele infuses such tension and spectacle in the film, but it is overall lacking in execution and the ending fails to live up to the promise of the first half. Special mention to the cinematography and sound design/mixing here; which is outstanding. The camera shots are creative and gorgeous; especially the night time shots. The film would've benefited from some tighter editing and cutting out unnecessary and non-consequential scenes (containing a certain monkey).

Bullet Train7
Aug 8, 2022
The style feels like a Guy Ritchie film, just not as clever, witty or well-edited. It over-reaches at times and just doesn't feel as clever or edgy as it's trying to be. However, it is a super fun entertaining ride and had some great laugh out loud moments. The performances, action and comedic moments elevate some of the script and pacing issues.

Prey7
Aug 6, 2022
A pleasant surprise. It doesn't get close to the 1987 original (but that is almost an impossible ask). This film's strength is its simplicity, the story imitates and pays homage to the original. The time setting and location is very interesting and makes for some awesome action scenes. However, it has a slow and rocky start, some clunky dialogue and acting at times, and some of the CGI on the animals looks terrible (but its understandable for a streaming budget).

Moonfall3
Jul 25, 2022
Takes it itself too seriously to be a fun campy movie, and it’s too stupid to work as a serious drama. Even after switching my brain off, I still couldn’t enjoy it. I mean some of the visual effects are nice but it all feels so pointless. The action is so ridiculous and stupid it’s just becomes white noise. For a film that throws so much on the screen, it doesn’t manage to actually say anything at all.
Jul 23, 2022
The Gray Man3
Jul 23, 2022
The Gray Man is actually an appropriate title because this film is dull as dogs**t. It’s a film created by committee (or computer algorithm) to try and please as much of the general audience as possible. It lacks a single frame of originality, and has obviously been dumbed-down to the lowest common denominator to appeal to international audiences. The story is so generic and predictable, dialogue is stupid, action is OK at times but some of the CGI is terrible, and the A-list cast either sleep walk through their roles or give over-the-top that are laughable. It continues the trend of Netflix original movies being disappointing. How this film cost $200 million is seriously mind-boggling. Don’t waste your time here…

The Black Phone8

A neat little indie horror movie that's tense, thrilling, and fantastically acted and directed. Man these kid actors are seriously amazing. Definitely worth a watch!
Jul 21, 2022
Thor: Love and Thunder3
Jul 21, 2022
Tonally it's a mess. It leans too heavy into slapstick comedy and it feels like a parody. I respect Taika Waititi very much, I think he's a fantastic filmmaker but he needs to be reigned in, otherwise this is what you get....a movie written for 5 year olds. Every dramatic and tense moment is undercut with a joke, the main character is a blubbering idiot, and characters frankly are just plan annoying. There are little nuggets of gold here and there but it's just surrounded by s**t.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe8
Jul 7, 2022
In today's overly woke and sensitive world, we need a movie like this. For all its stupidity, it reminds us that its important and **** to have a good laugh. This film is simply hilarious and surprisingly witty in its social commentary.

Elvis8
Jul 5, 2022
What a performance from Austin Butler, he truly channels Elvis here. It’s amazing, a true Oscar worthy performance. Tom Hanks is amazing as usual. The film is loads of fun and gives audiences a ‘greatest hits’ of Elvis’ music catalogue, while peppering in some modern day songs. Worth seeing for the performances alone. Some critiques are the film’s length and Baz Lurhmanns directing style, although great, can become exhausting after a while.

Lightyear6
Jun 20, 2022
It's not top tier Pixar... this falls somewhere in the average tier of Pixar films which may not be fair considering the amazingly high Pixar standard. The animation is gorgeous, and the voice acting is solid. But the script is a little underdeveloped and it lacks the emotional punch and universal appeal of the better Pixar films.
Jun 13, 2022
Morbius2
Jun 13, 2022
Sony's superhero universe is stuck in the early 2000s. The Venom movies are terrible in my opinion; and Morbius is no exception. This is just unwatchable. The plot is terrible and rushed, the characters are undeveloped and their motivations and character arcs don't make sense, the action is lame and boring, and the visual effects are laughable (like early 2000s video game effects). The film either feels unfinished or like it was taken apart with studio interference. Whatever the case, the end product should not have been released as it is. It blatantly and shamelessly tries to rip off better movies such as The Matrix and Batman Begins. Save your time...skip this one.

Jurassic World Dominion4
Jun 13, 2022
I heard terrible things about this film so I went in with low expectations, and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It's....watchable, but completely boring. The story is stupid and overly convoluted, and the action is just uninspired nonsense. The dinosaurs are just an after-thought here, shoved aside for a much more plotline. There is absolutely no sense of wonder and awe that made the original Jurassic Park an instant classic. I'd say this is the worst of the Jurassic Park/World franchise. Time to put this franchise to bed.

Top Gun: Maverick10
May 28, 2022
This is a true action blockbuster that is so rare these days. The big messy CGI set pieces that are all too common today have desensitised and bored audiences to what real action can be. Audiences are screaming for action that is shot practically and real, visceral, and heart pumping. Top Gun: Maverick exceeds the first one in every way. This is how you make a perfect sequel - reinvigorating the franchise whilst injecting just enough nostalgia and cheesiness to pay homage to the original. Credit to Tom Cruise for making the film happen, and dedicating himself to performing these stunts practically. Super fun and an incredible watch!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness6
May 15, 2022
Perfectly average 'meh' film. There's some really cool concepts, ideas, and imagery here but overall as a film its disappointing. The film soars when Sam Raimi is let loose and able to inject his horror style into it, and the film falls flat when its falls back into the same tired bland MCU formula. The script feels really underwritten and rushed, and some of the dialogue is pretty terrible. It all concludes with a massive mind-numbing CGI fest trying to throw everything at the wall to see what it sticks, and it just gets boring...less really is more. There's also some pacing issues, my friend fell asleep for 15mins during the 2nd act.

The Northman10
Apr 24, 2022
A brutal Viking revenge tale. It's the Hamlet story we all know, and there is a Shakespearean tragedy feel here. The film has some of the best cinematography I've ever seen - with lighting and on-location shots. The musical score is heart-pounding with the Nordic sounding drums and chants. The film feels so historically accurate and authentic. Robert Eggers and his team really tried to immerse you completely into the place and time. The cast is all spectacular, particularly Skarsgard who is just a beast in this. Unfortunately this film won't do well at the box office, please go out and support it. We need more films like this.

Everything Everywhere All at Once10
Apr 18, 2022
It's so refreshing to see an original story that is such a pure delight; headlined by a powerhouse performance from Michelle Yeoh. It'll make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. It genre-bends constantly, switching from action to comedy to drama seamlessly, and it tip-toes this line to perfection.

X8
Mar 25, 2022
Its bloody, gory, kinky and sexy fun. It's shot in that old 70s slasher film feel, and its obviously a homage to films like Psycho and The Shining. Not for the faint of heart, as it is pretty toe-curling at points, but this movie sings at a nice fast **** killer no filler.

Jackass Forever7
Mar 23, 2022
You know exactly what you're getting with Jackass, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. It's a sick, gross, super hilarious time to watch drunk with your mates.

Turning Red8
Mar 20, 2022
Pixar never disappoints, and this is no different. Admittedly I'm not the target audience, but Pixar always finds a way to make these films kid friendly but with mature universal themes of coming-of-age, family relationships, and being your true self. This film is animated gorgeously with strong voice acting, and is hilariously charming.
Mar 5, 2022
The Batman10
Mar 5, 2022
It's not a perfect film, but it is the PERFECT BATMAN film. This is the Batman film I've wanted my whole life. Matt Reeves has made the most faithful Batman adaptation to date; pulling inspiration from numerous comics, the animated series, and video games; and it finally explorers the skills of the World's Greatest Detective. This is such a refreshing film that shakes things up for the superhero genre. It's actually not a superhero film at all; it's a deeply complex and layered crime noir thriller similar to a Seven, Chinatown, or Godfather feel. Everything here is gorgeous and crafted with extreme care - the acting, cinematography, musical score, action set pieces. It's a little too long and could've benefited from some trimming in the editing room. It won't be for everyone, it might be too violent for kids, and people who love generic popcorn flicks probably won't like or appreciate it, but for lovers of Batman and true thrilling cinema, it's a must watch.

Scream6
Feb 20, 2022
If you just turn your brain off, its mindless and stupid fun. It's very meta and self-referential which I think mostly works due to the silly tone its going for; it pokes fun at the slasher genre. Honestly worth watching if you're just in the mood for some teenage angst and gory kills.
Feb 20, 2022
Uncharted6
Feb 20, 2022
It makes for an average adventure movie but its certainly no Uncharted movie; the Uncharted franchise deserved better. Any fans of the games are sure to be disappointed. I still think the film is badly miscast, although Tom Holland does well with what he's given and is great in the physical actions and stunts. The action set pieces are pretty good and are the highlights. Unfortunately, the script is generic and boring and full of eye-rolling tropes, there's zero chemistry between the characters, and the treasure hunting aspects are stupid and ridiculous.
Feb 13, 2022
Drive My Car6
Feb 13, 2022
I really wanted to like this movie more than I did. It's obviously very well-made with excellent performances but it's excruciatingly slow with an over-indulgent length. I really felt the 3 hours, and I lost engagement that I had to finish it in two sittings. It was a chore to get through. Dare I **** boring for most of it's length. This film would've benefited by being tightened up in the editing room. Watch it for the direction and performances, but beware a film like this will turn a lot of viewers off.
Jan 23, 2022
The Power of the Dog8
Jan 23, 2022
It won't be for everyone, its a very slow-burn and I was waiting & hoping for a plot to kick in which never really came. But it's a good well-directed deep character study with an Oscar-worthy performance from Benedict Cumberbatch. It's also gorgeous to look at, the cinematography is top notch.
Jan 13, 2022
Eternals6
Jan 13, 2022
To be honest it's better than I thought (based off the reviews). I appreciated that they strayed away from the tired MCU formula and tried for such a different tone. It's ambitious and shoots for the stars but falls short. There are some very epic and cool concepts and moments peppered throughout but as a whole its all just really...bland. The 2 main characters have a personality of a wet dish **** the rest of the cast aren't much better. The villians are boring CGI cannon-fodder, and the climax is yet another messy generic CGI fest.
Jan 8, 2022
Ghostbusters: Afterlife6
Jan 8, 2022
It's obviously not as goo as the original an its sequel, but its load better than the 2016 Ghostbusters (if that means anything). It's a little heavy-handed on the nostalgia and memory berries, and it continues an annoying trend right now where old IPs have sequels that are essentially the same movie as the original, just re-packaged and not as good. This film also highlights the trend where lead characters are 'Mary Sues' and are perfect from the get-go with basically no character development or learning. The young actress in the lead role did a great job, but her character was boring because of this.
Jan 3, 2022
Don't Look Up3
Jan 3, 2022
It's about as edgy as a soft toy. It's the film equivalent of someone who likes to sniff their own **** can feel the smugness dripping off the screen. I'm all for satire, but no-one wants to be beaten over the head and preached to...ironically by the biggest hypocrites in the world (Hollywood celebrities). Every single character is unlikeable, an its such a shame because they had a great cast. Actors I normally love are annoying idiots here.

West Side Story9
Dec 30, 2021
I'll admit i'm not the target audience, I'm not really a fan of musicals and I haven't seen the original West Side Story; but I found this re-make amazing. I mean Spielberg is the GOAT, and this film is masterfully directed with amazing performances, dance choreography and music. Really enjoyed it.
Dec 26, 2021
The Matrix Resurrections3
Dec 26, 2021
It doesn't justify its own existence, and it's so self aware that it breaks the fourth wall and pretty much parodies the Matrix franchise. It's actually a little insulting to the Matrix franchise. It lacks everything that made the first Matrix film revolutionary - compelling story, mind-bending special effects, visceral ****'ll find none of it here. I'll say this, it is nice to see Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann-Moss back and they do the best they can with the material. I had my head in my hands most of the ****'s not worth your time or money.
Dec 23, 2021
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City1
Dec 23, 2021
A complete waste of 2 ****'s terrible. It feels like a cheaply badly made fan-film. The only positive was that some of the sets were really accurate to the games which was cool. Other than that there's not much on offer here.
Dec 19, 2021
Spider-Man: No Way Home8
Dec 19, 2021
Had a fun time with this, it's super entertaining. The multiverse stuff covers up a paper-thin plot and some lazy scriptwriting, but you're having so much fun that you can gloss over some of the issues. It really is a treat seeing some of the characters pop up. The action is great and the comedy mostly hits. I'd say it's the best of the Tom Holland Spiderman movies; but I think Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2 and Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse are still better films.
Dec 9, 2021
Audition7
Dec 9, 2021
It's a really weird film. There's enough of an interesting premise here to be intriguing, but I felt it's all a little too unfocused and ambiguous. It wasn't as scary as I was hoping, but the mystery and intrigue will keep you watching. It's a slow burn that builds up to one of the most tense toe-curling scenes I've ever seen.

Dune: Part One10
Dec 3, 2021
It is very rare to walk out of the theatre shaking from what you just experienced. Dune is a bombardment of the senses (in the very best way possible); it is truly a film that needs to be experienced in the theatre. My jaw was open in awe the whole time admiring the cinematography, sound design, music, and special effects. Every single frame is gorgeous and helmed with such care. I knew nothing of Dune coming into it but I am completely sold on this world and can't wait for Part 2. This is a film lover's wet dream and is a must see!
Nov 29, 2021
Venom: Let There Be Carnage4
Nov 29, 2021
If you didn't like the first Venom, then you won't like this one. It's more of the same and they double down on the tone and Odd Couple humour. The humour is way more miss than hit. I hated the first Venom so yeah....This barely passed the time for me, I thought it was pretty terrible. This thin predictable story, campiness, forced humour, and the white noise CGI fest is what we should've left behind in the 90s comic book movies. The genre has evolved and the audience today deserves more.
Nov 21, 2021
King Richard8
Nov 21, 2021
I've played tennis my whole life so I enjoyed this film. Although the film feels overdramatised somewhat; its a film about universal themes like determination, hard work, and fulfilling your dreams; so you don't have to be a tennis fan to enjoy it. Will Smith is incredible (maybe Oscar worthy?), and the 2 actresses playing Venus & Serena are quite good. It's an all-round feel good movie worth checking out.

Last Night in Soho9
Nov 20, 2021
I love Edgar Wright's slick direction style and his infusion of music to set an atmosphere. He has such a unique directing style. This film is indeed unique, I absolutely loved it. The cinematography, production design, and costumes are excellent and really invoke the 60s vibe. The soundtrack and choice is music makes every scene pop. Both Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy are phenomenal. The script is original and unpredictable. It really was a shame that my theatre was empty for this. Everyone needs to go out and support original film.
Nov 17, 2021
Red Notice3
Nov 17, 2021
Bland, derivative, predictable, and totally forgettable. I mean The Rock and Gal Gadot are not the greatest of actors, and Ryan Reynolds is yet again just playing himself which I'm totally over. The production actually looks cheap; the CGI and green-screen backgrounds look terrible and so unconvincing. The action has lots of annoying quick cuts; and the comedy is more miss than hit.
Nov 14, 2021
No Time to Die8
Nov 14, 2021
A fitting end to Daniel Craig's bond. He plays the character again perfectly with all the suave and charisma, and bad-ass action that James Bond requires. The action is great and the supporting characters shine (Ana De Armas is the highlight of the film; I wish she was in it more). It has flaws though - the villian is weak and under-written (to no fault of Rami Malek); the story feels convoluted; and it has some pacing issues. I'd place this 3rd best in the Daniel Craig bond films behind Casino Royale and Skyfall.
Nov 13, 2021
The Deep House3
Nov 13, 2021
It's pretty terrible - it's like they came up with the novelty of the underwater haunted house, and gave it to some high school kids to write and direct. Everything here is so shallow (pun **** material is weak, acting ****, production design looks cheap, and the main characters are so annoying I wanted them to drown.
Nov 13, 2021
Under the Skin7
Nov 13, 2021
I was pretty confused the whole time watching it; but by the end I appreciated the imagery and message the film was trying to convey. I mean it's a really slow burn; there's literally no dialogue until 20 minutes in. It's definitely thought-provoking and worth watching to build your own interpretation of the film. But...this may prove just too weird for most people I reckon.
Nov 9, 2021
The Babadook9
Nov 9, 2021
This film truly gave me spine **** creepy as all hell and one of the scariest films I've ever seen. It's more clever than your average horror flick, it's a psychological allegory about coping with grief. Essie Davis gives a phenomenally excellent and raw performance. This film understands that what you don't see is scarier than what you do see. The monster works well with the practical effects and it is shown sparingly. A must-see for horror fans.

The Last Duel8
Oct 31, 2021
It's very rare these days to get a medieval historical epic for adults; and its a shame that this has tanked at the box office. The story is beautifully told from the different perspectives of the main characters. The characters are complex and fleshed out, the set design and costumes are immaculate, and all the performances are top notch (especially Jodie Comer). The duel itself at the end is epic, its visceral hard-hitting action that's filmed with such care. Please see this in the cinemas to support it.
Oct 29, 2021
Enemy8
Oct 29, 2021
It's a strange film full of symbolism and hidden meanings. It'll have you scratching your head by the end looking for answers; but discussing the ambiguity of it all is where all the fun is. It's a film that you'll be definitely thinking about long after its over, which is a rare thing these days. Jake Gyllenhaal is fantastic and the direction from Denis Villeneuve....well he's one the the best directors working today, so you know he's good.
Oct 28, 2021
Joker10
Oct 28, 2021
Incredible! It's nice to get such a refreshing stand-alone movie that breaks free from the typical superhero formula and isn't tied to a cinematic universe. This doesn't feel like a superhero movie at all; it's a deep character study and a cautionary tragic tale of a man pushed to madness via nature and nurture; it just happens to be set in Gotham around arguably comic's most iconic villain. Phoenix is unbelievable and completely disappears into the role (an Oscar-worthy performance). The cinematography and tone of the movie is great and harkens back to the Scorsese films of the 80s. If you're expecting a superhero action movie this may not be for you. Approach it with an open mind and you'll love it. Masterpiece.
Oct 25, 2021
Unforgiven8
Oct 25, 2021
Masterfully directed and acted by Clint Eastwood. Unforgiven is a deconstruction of the typical western. It's a slow burn which takes the time to carefully develop its characters and environment; which all culminates to one of the most badass climactic scenes ever. Thoroughly deserving of being a Best Picture winner.
Oct 25, 2021
Titane7
Oct 25, 2021
To say this movie is weird is an understatement. It's a strange body horror / human drama combination of genres thats surprisingly executed quite well. I loved the acting performances and the cinematography. The premise is strange, but I was always interested to see how the story was going to unfold. Beware, this film definitely won't be for everyone, but for lovers of cinema I think it's worth checking out.

BuyBust5
Oct 17, 2021
**** passed the time. It's basically a remake of the superior Indonesian film The Raid. The acting is passable, but the action didn't convince me. The action didn't look visceral or hard-hitting; especially from the main actress who's fight scenes were pretty terrible. I don't know what was going on with the musical score as well, it was all over the place, inconsistent and didn't gel with what was happening on screen.
