Despite the lack of scares, minor tweaks to the games' lore and overall silliness, director Johannes Roberts' love for Resident Evil is clear in every moment of Welcome to Raccoon City. With a barrage of Easter eggs and fascinating takes on classic characters, the film's a gleeful trip back to the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon Police Department aimed squarely at fans.

The film is empty-headed good fun that’s blessedly under two hours and has just enough character development to make you kind of care when someone gets bitten.

wasn't bad, but could have been better, but it's sure better than Paul W S Anderson's movies

One of the best movies I have ever seen. I meanthe berkin fight was just *muah*. nothing can convince me otherwise.

Raccoon City is most fun when showcasing Avan Jogia as a rookie cop who’d been transferred to Raccoon City after accidentally shooting his partner in the butt—a bad joke that Jogia turns into a workable gag.

Johannes Roberts’s prequel ultimately remains buried by its indifference to unchecked corporate power.

The competence of the action sequences compensates somewhat for the underlying lack of wit or humour throughout, unless you count the smile-inducing call backs to ancient 90s technology.

If indeed this is a full on franchise reboot, this “origin story” is no "Welcome to Raccoon City" at all. It’s a warning to avoid ever coming back.

“Welcome to Raccoon City” overstuffs itself with so many characters and plot points that nothing has room to develop. The pretty-good cast gets buried alive in a rushed and ill-conceived screenplay, and it doesn’t help that the film is murkily photographed and tonally dreary.

To give this movie a low rating;
It is treason to humanity.
Giving high marks to nonsense movies,
It's a folly to give such legendary movies a low rating. Bu filme düşük puan vermek;
İnsanlığa ihanettir.
Saçma sapan filmlere yüksek puan vermek,
Böyle efsanevi filmlere düşük puan vermek gibi bir salaklık moda oldu.

The opening scene is amazing. Atmospheric, fun, classic Resident Evil. The film, I would say, is for fans of the original game - it covers the first two games fairly faithfully whilst turning into a coherent 100 minute story. The Anderson series of films catered much more for fans of the Transformers action movies. The CGI animated series of films caters for anime fans. This pretty much caters for horror fans and I do hope that they turn this into a series. Casting is good, directing is good, cinematography is great, writing is uneven at best. The backstory is probably the dullest imaginable. Two what the heck moments? That strobe sequence? The Silent Hill siren? There’s plenty of fan service which makes me wonder who this is aimed at? Very much reminded me in style to Ty West (and a little bit of Eli Roth) and Sam Raimi. It also took be back to Forest of the Damned (2005) but much better! Maybe they would have done better taking all the elements that made the original games great and starting a new story whilst still including fan service.

Resident evil: welcome to raccoon city A dedicated adaptation that greatly shines in the first three quarters, but winds into a rushed and somewhat anticlimactic end. It has a good balance of horror, action and Chernobyl elements, with good cinematography and effects. The runtime also helped it prevent ennui.
