Zhao keeps these far-reaching propositions grounded through the laser-like focus of her vision and the precision of the images dreamed up by her and veteran MCU lensman Ben Davis. For once in a movie like this, ocean waves and cloudscapes carry as much weight as the ultra-choreographed battles between intergalactic interlopers.

The actors are the movie’s great superpower and give it warmth, even a bit of heat, and a pulse of life that’s never fully quelled by the numerous clamorous action sequences.

Eternals was a mesmerizing film. It had so much heart and emotion. All the actors and actresses playing the Eternals were fantastic. I can't wait for a sequel.

For all the effort that has gone into ensuring representation in the casting, the storytelling, with its forced flashbacks and synthetic sentiment, lets the whole thing down.

Even if Zhao and her co-screenwriters were more adept at establishing the family-style togetherness of the Eternals, the emotional continuity is shattered by the incessant time tripping and globe hopping. Just when you think you’ve got your bearings in South Dakota, you suddenly find yourself in Mesopotamia.

These characters may be immortal, but the studio’s assembly-line predictability drains the vitality from the proceedings.

Time Out
Departing from Marvel’s snarky, wham-bam formula, Eternals is an attempt to do straight-faced sci-fi. Sadly, the result is over-stuffed and underpowered.

Fresh off of winning the Best Director Oscar for "Nomadland," Chloé Zhao has upchucked one of the MCU's worst movies in ages.

Enternals is truly a Chloé Zhao masterpiece. The Oscar Award winner handled the complex mythos of the comic-book classics' Enternals, the perfect way. The movie is a beautiful piece of art, a first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cgi and plot steps out of Marvel's repetitve cookie-cutter style. A new, fresh movie for Marvel fans, thats ultimatly underratted. Dont listen to the haters, watch it for yourself and see.

Overall, I appreciate what this movie tried to do. Netting Zhao right in the middle of her rise to critical **** was a massive coup, even if only for the press the movie got. The movie has a naturalistic feel to it, and the scattershot nature of jumping from one wild set-piece to the next largely worked for me. It's all a bit silly, though, isn't it? The actors give it their best - Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, and Lauren Ridloff are especially good. The ending is poignant. It's slow and a chore at times, and it being disconnected from the rest of the MCU doesn't do it any favors. Try it, the good parts will move something in you.

The opening scene annoyed me the most. It started with an interesting premise and then the way it was acted out was as if it was done by a child. Like what a little boy would think was super cool. You’d think that moviemakers have had plenty of practice, and should be getting better. Overall, it was quite mediocre.

A mostly terrible film with an appalling script and storyline! Most of the acting was awful as was the direction. I didn't care about any of the characters, and there was no suspense at any time. On the plus side, some of the CGI was ok! I wouldn't bother watching it again!

Banal plot and at times boring and incomprehensible. It is a film without real content, with a story that falls into the banal and there does not seem to be a clear idea on the film to be made but they focused more on the hype and the stellar cast neglecting the actual film.
