Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne10
Mar 29, 2021
My original review was critical of the DLC on release because of the copy n' paste with most the monsters, but with all the free updates and additional monsters; This has been some of the best Monster Hunter content we've ever gotten. Some of the toughest and fun fights I've ever experienced was in this DLC and it was an amazing experience.

Monster Hunter Rise7
Mar 29, 2021
Like cake... but with no icing. There's no denying cake is good regardless, but it's undeniable that cake with icing is better. I'm of course hinting at Monster Hunter World. Rise is a great addition to the franchise, but the more I play Rise, the more I feel like playing World... the different is significant. Most of Rise feels like a spin off of World. The graphics (of course), armours (not as detailed), weapon move nerfs, flat level designs, texture popping, etc. It's hard to really get past this at times and actually enjoy the game in my opinion. For clarity, When I say weapon nerfs, I'm referring to Longsword and Gunlance, as those are my main weapons. First: Longsword no longer has Helmsplitter, which made me pretty sad. Also, Gunlance no longer has ledge over head leap slam that was pretty good for spamming full blasts in rapid succession. Not gamebreaking, but just "why?" type of nerfs. Also Duel Blades you can no longer spam attack while holding back and forth for an infinite combo. I know my review isn't very positive, but hey I'm only 2 stars in so far. It's hard getting back into handheld as my last MH game was Tri on 3DS. Will update my score if things get better, I've yet to see new monsters, just been the same roster so far from World. All in all, this is a good filler Monster Hunter game to play while waiting the next console release. I'm playing through Rise solo to brush up until then personally. HR: 857 MR: 506 see you hunters in the next one!

Kind of regret buying this game new, but the hyped up user reviews got the better of me. The game is by no means bad though neither is it the best thing ever, it's just average. I think Sekiro spoiled me honestly because my biggest gripe with this game is the combat. It's floaty, clunky, and just unresponsive at times. There's very little weight to attacks and it feels like I'm fighting enemies with a pool noodle. Meanwhile enemies are unleashing insane combos or touting gian insane weapons. Game could use more player variety cause the sword and combat feel pretty bad.

Final Fantasy VII Remake9
Apr 10, 2020
I love letter to the fans and welcoming take on FF7 for new comers. 2 hours into the game I had realized something... I had not stopped smiling since I first put in the disc. Square Enix did such a fantastic job at following the original while adding in more content to really flesh out Midgar. I'm a little ways in and it's been absolutely amazing thus far. Also, Marlene and Barrette's relationship is SO adorable, yet there is a looming sadness there as I recall what we eventually learn regarding Barrette's backstory. I really don't want to spoil anything, so I'll stop the review at this... GET THIS GAME. If you're new to Final Fantasy and you don't care to ever try another Final Fantasy game again in your life. At least give Final Fantasy 7 a shot because it's considered the pinnacle of the series. I already **** a copy for a buddy of mine who has been gaming forever, but hasn't tried Final Fantasy. Fans of the series... this one is a must. No question about it, it's that good. I'd ignore as much reviews as possible and experience this game for yourself!

Like others have said, it's a very short game with cut content. It's well made AAA, but more like $30. Capcom is basically charging you more for the low budget multiplayer game tacked on to RE3. Not cool, hopefully they take my money and make the next RE better. I wont be buying it full pricelike I did with RE3 though.

Death Stranding10
Nov 17, 2019
Holy review bomb Batman! I'm guessing a lot of people didn't research this game before buying, probably saw Norman Reedus on the cover and just grabbed it. Personally, I love how atmospheric Death Stranding is. The game really allows the player to breath, yet there are intense moments throughout the journey with unforeseeable challenges and obstacles to overcome. Anyone who has played Shadow of the Colossus should give Death Stranding a try. It's the closest I can compare, but at the same time Death Stranding has a really cool Metal Gear vibe to it. To those hating "Don't be so serious"

A strikingly good remaster of a PS1 classic and just in time for Halloween. Surprised by the contrast in critic/ user reviews, it stays faithful to the source material and even adds to it. I'm simply loving this remaster thus far and fingers crossed for a new Medievil game in the future.

Borderlands 36
Sep 28, 2019
Huge Borderlands 2 fan, but this new installment just isn't doing it for me. The only only things I can really praise at the moment is the graphics and side quest writing (it's hilarious). - The main story is pretty 'meh' - Not enough levels compared to BL2 - No Raid bosses - Universal loot drops, instead of enemy specific - Endgame is boring - Menus freeze up in online multiplayer - Texture pop in while playing is insane - Quest missions glitch out, npc's can't be interacted with - New Sanctuary is annoying to navigate That's just my experience with the game so far. I've beaten the campaign and solo'd a lot of stuff on Mayhem 3. FL4K literally breaks the game and I chose him as my character without even knowing it. Once I leveled up his critical tree, everything got steam rolled. I then looked online and a lot of people are confirming the same thing.

Days Gone9
Apr 29, 2019
I'm actually having a really good time with Days Gone despite my hesitation due to critic reviews prior to the game's launch. The game is actually a solid AAA open world zombie experience. Even though much of the criticism is pointed at the fact that it doesn't do anything 'new' for the zombie genre, what it does do it does well. Also, I've visited Oregon on road trips and have to say, this game does the beautiful landscape of that state justice. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking at times.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom8
Apr 8, 2019
Surprisingly, I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. I wasn't much of a fan of the first game, but the second one introduces seemingly fresh concepts that bring me back to the Dark Cloud days. I'm of course talking about the kingdom building aspect and talent recruitment systems in place. The combat is satisfyingly smooth and the art style is a refreshing change of pace from all the ultra realistic games coming out these days. Ni No Kuni 2 does a lot of things right that JRPG's don't these days and I'm looking forward to what else Level 5 has in store next coming off of this one. Here's still hoping for Dark Cloud 3.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice5
Mar 25, 2019
Not as good as I was expecting. I've played all the Souls games and Bloodborne is my second favorite game of all time. Sekiro though... it doesn't hold up as well as those other titles. Some of my main gripes are as follows; - No Armor? Wow, I can't believe I'm actually typing that, but Sekiro has no armor/loot system. That's one of the most fun aspects of Souls games in my opinion. I loved grinding enemies for different loot/weapons. Not sure why they scrapped such a cool aspect of their games. - Guard system is pointless and broken. I just run around and poke bosses to death or find other means to cheese them because the combat is so broken. There's no poise or shields in this game. Instead FromSoft wants players to block with a little sword? What??? Most enemies will destroy your guard and instakill you if you try to block. - Dodge frames have been nerfed. The dodging in this game is terrible and has almost no invincible frames like past games. It's practically impossible to dodge boss ultimate attacks, you'll have to pop some food buffs and just pray your vitality can tank the hit because dodging is very unsafe. This mixed in with the bad guard system makes things an all around mess. - Weak boss line up. Most bosses/ mini bosses are just dudes with swords/lances/guns. It gets pretty uninteresting half way through the game. Granted there are like 4 boss fights that are cool, but you gotta grit through all the boring stuff to get to them. I could keep going, but I really don't want to waste much more time on this game. Sekiro is pretty mediocre and that's unfortunate for Souls fans because now we're left waiting for the next installment to those good games. Luckily, if you're looking for a good samurai souls game to play in the meantime, I highly recommend checking out Nioh. It's a much better attempt at this genre than Sekiro is in my opinion and the DLC is some of the hardest/funnest stuff I've played. It also has an amazing loot system to boot.

I took a break from the DMC universe after 3, so it has been a very long time since I've enjoyed something like this. Man, I forgot how good these games are. The well paced action mixed in with a strong narrative is fantastic. Also, the graphics and soundtrack are top notch. DMC5 is a serious game, that knows how to not take itself too seriously. It's fun, it can be dark, and it's one heck of a ride.

Kingdom Hearts III1
Jan 29, 2019
Kingdom Hearts is half the game it used to be, not even sure it can be called Kingdom Hearts anymore since it's very premise has been completely scrapped. I, like many others, have been waiting for KH3 for a very Looong time. Seems that all the patience wasn't worth it in the end. So what am I talking about? Square Enix has completely removed ALL the Final Fantasy characters from KH3. No more Squall, no more Cloud, Cid, Sephiroth, etc... instead we're left with easter eggs to remind us that they once existed in the game. Other than that... poof ... they are all gone with no explanation. Instead we're only left with Disney characters. So for those of us who played KH for the FF stuff, we're pretty much scrooged. So disappointed in Square. I was almost sure there was no way they could mess KH3 up given how much time they had to work on it. Looks like they proved us wrong, considerably. Also, on a last note, since KH is a crossover of FF and Disney, what does that make KH now that FF is no longer a part of the equation? It's an entirely different game. Just rename it to Disney Hearts or something and be done with it. Or Square, do the right thing and bring FF back. It was us FF fans that hyped this game up to what it is today, it's the least you could do. If you feel they aren't relevant to the plot, Fine. Have them be side quests and what not. No harm done. Till then I'm not giving you any of my sweet sweet monies.

Dead by Daylight3
Jan 15, 2019
Like a lot of user reviews have already said, this game has a wonderfully fresh concept, but the devs blew it hard by not balancing it correctly. That and the amount of glitches this game still has is insane, considering it has been out this long. Why is the balancing bad? To put it simple, there are exploits for both survivors and killer that throttle any enjoyment one may get from playing this game. Survivors will use exploits like 'infinite looping' in levels mixed in with 'pallet looping' so the killer can never catch them. That and SWF, a feature that lets 4 friends play together, often destroy killer players because of how over powered it is. Players on mic can always tell each other where the killer is on the map and coordinate accordingly, ruining any surprise elements the game has to offer. This feature is gamebreaking, but the devs still allow it. On the killer side of things, killers use an exploit called 'hook camping.' With how broken the game is, there really isn't much incentive to actually play it correctly. Which is to chase survivors. What killers will do is hook someone and just stand in front of them, which is also known as 'face camping.' 7/10 games I play these days consist of these kinds of players. There's also another exploit where killers can put players in what's called a 'basement' then use a perk that allows them to camp even harder. Survivors will try to play the game normally, which is saving each other, only to get killed trying to save the person being hook camped. Making an easy win for the killer. Until this day the devs acknowledge this as a legitimate strategy and won't fix it. This feature is gamebreaking, but the devs still allow it. Killers camp and as a result players try to infinite loop the killers so they don't get caught. It's a vicious cycle that has gotten out of control lately. Most games just come out to who can be the most toxic/trolly towards each other. With survivors teabagging and killers taunting each other. The whole horror element is stripped and the fun is just not there anymore. When I first started playing Dead by Daylight, it was fun. As I grew in skill and rank "I'm both rank 1 for survivor and killer" the toxicity only got worse. These days it's hard to find enjoyment playing this game and again the glitches make the whole experience that much more painful. I really wanted this game to succeed at one point, but with the way things are it's not going to. Things have gotten too out of hand at this point and the devs won't do anything about it. Of course they have no problem releasing purchasable cosmetics through the in game store though. I think the devs pretty much know this game is a sinking ship at this point and are just trying to get cash out of it with as minimal effort to actually fixing it as possible. Like **** an empty jar of peanut butter for one last in hopes to make on last sandwich.

Fallout 760
Nov 15, 2018
Buyers Beware: You're paying $60 for a broken game. You're paying to be a beta tester for a broken product with the loose promises from Bethesda that things are going to be fixed eventually. I'm a huge Fallout fan, but I won't defend a product this low of quality that ultimately seeks to use its players. Get the word out, it's about time we hold big companies responsible for releasing unfinished products. Can't believe Bethesda still had the nerve to add microtransactions in this game. It's time we stand up as gamers and say enough is enough. This is not my Fallout.

addicting fun... when it works. How this made it to PS4 in its current state is questionable as it has a lot of problems. Could use more content too. If they upped the graphics, fixed bugs, added more content, and refined the matchmaking system, then I could see this game really catching on. The whole system is unique and works extremely well, especially when playing with friends. Edit: the match making is very broken since a recent patch. I wouldn't recommend playing with friends as you'll almost never find a match together.

Friday the 13th: The Game2
Oct 4, 2018
The worst free PS Plus game I've played to date. Like others have said, the match making is terrible, bugs are ever present, and the game is very one dimensional. Even Dead by Daylight is better than this mess and that is saying a LOT. At least in that game match making is quick, cosmetics are bountiful, lots of killers, a proper leveling up system, etc. In Friday the 13th, if you die because of something totally out of your control (like bugs or lag), the game punishes you by making you stay the rest of the match to earn exp. We're talking 15 minute matches sometimes. Whereas in Dead by Daylight the matches are quick and you get exp right away. You can't even by cosmetic items in Friday the 13 with an in game currency! It expects you to pay real money for it. Overall, very terrible game. How it even made it to PS4 is beyond me.

Secret of Mana (Remaster)9
Feb 15, 2018
Welp, saw this coming a mile a way. It's no "Secret" that a lot of people had it out for this game even before it was released... now that it's here, I'm not surprised that all these people followed up with an automatic negative review on here. The bandwagon is strong with this one. Sadly, this even reflects on the critics side of things too. What were people expecting? Just what standards were people holding this game up to? The Shadow of The Colossus remake? Lets be real. It would be cool if this was an in depth remake like that, but this is a niche title. Always has been. This remake is perfect in that it simply retains the magic of the original and enhances things like the audio and graphics. Shoot, there's even voice acting now. This isn't a AAA high budget game, although I wish it was. Secret of Mana Remake is a faithful remake at its core simple as that. If you're a fan of this series, I recommend this remake. Or if you're new, this is a great chance to snag this little classic. Don't expect it to compete with todays high budget JRPG's, but just know that it's still a fun game that was revolutionary for its time.

I'm really not diggin' what they are doing with the story. It's basically rewriting what made LoTR story so cool. Orcs now have special wizardry powers and new rings are being forged. Also, Shelob is a human lady? What? It's like they sat down and said "hhmmm, how can we make this game more like Warcraft." I don't feel that Tolkien would like the direction Warner Bros is taking with his work. It's taking on more mystical role play elements than it should be and becoming a whole different thing. Oh, and the loot boxes are stupid. As a big LoTR fan I'm very disappointed with this latest entry.

STAY AWAY. That's all I can say at this point. After 20 hours into this game I can't take it anymore. I really did give this game an honest try and wrote off most of its flaws early on because of the glamorous world and stunning graphics. The GLITCHES though utterly ruin this game. After countless frustrations with the combat and the glitches I almost want to try and return this to the store based on how defective it is. Skills not working right, the evasion is buggy and often doesn't work, every enemy can outrun you on foot, the stun lock is abysmal in this game, enemies spawning out of nowhere, the shield is broken and doesn't work like the game says, enemies can now take 30 arrows to the face like it's nothing then run up and one shot you. AC Origins is an utter mess at the moment with many broken game mechanics and glitches, which will lead to utter frustration. **** too because it is a very good looking game, but just like any game "graphics aren't everything."

Reading the reviews here put a smile on my face. Apparently , we've all bought FF7 way too many times it seems XD but that's the thing. Final Fantasy 7 is just that dang good! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild0
Dec 28, 2017
It's alright. Very overrated, unfortunately, and that throws off the score. I've played and beaten pretty much every Zelda and BoTW, while a pretty decent game, falls behind past titles like Ocarina, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and A Link to The Past. Most of the open world is empty, weapons break, bosses are recycled, Temples no longer stick to the original formula (no dungeon crawling), lack of cool items which you usually obtain in temples then use throughout the world, instead the game gives you pretty much every weapon you need at the beginning of the game, the story is very watered down (I'm surprised no critics called it out on this). Overall, I feel like the critics could have done a better job pointing out criticism, but instead glossed over most of its obvious flaws. This could lead to some misconceptions for those wanting to play this game for the first time, but want to know a few things about it ahead of time.

The critic score is a tad off for this one, though I respect their opinions. This is one of the best games created by Sony and really put them into the JRPG spot light. When asking people what their favorite JRPG's were from the 90's; almost every list has Legend of Dragoon somewhere. It is truly a classic with a great fanbase that is still petitioning Sony to revive this series till this very day. We got a MediEvil Remake reveal not too long ago, so there is still hope that Sony will revisit the Dragoon universe.
