The onslaught of things to shoot, crush or skewer demons with is always exhilarating, and done ample. justice by Capcom’s RE Engine

At 15 hours long, and with the unlockable Son Of Sparta mode upping the difficulty while switching enemies around, Dante’s latest is both stylish and generously stuffed. Though occasionally intimidating and repetitive in places, you’ll still relish making Satan sing.

Distilling everything that's made the series great to this point and offering a razor sharp modern take on the combo-heavy character action genre that DMC helped instigate, Devil May Cry 5 is a juvenile-yet-very-adult game for those who like their monsters grotesque, their combat stylish and their demon-hunting boys and girls dumb but outrageously sexy.

Devil May Cry 5 is the perfected entry in the series, at least as of today. It improves upon many of the franchise's already strong suits while addressing several of its past issues. Let's start with the gameplay: the combat system has been refined to perfection and is hands down one of the best I've ever experienced overall, not just within the series. It wraps up many plot threads left unanswered in previous chapters, while leaving (and setting up) others, the right ones, for a potential sixth episode. The character design sees further improvements, and this time it isn't just relegated to the main protagonist, but extends to a large part of the core cast. The animations are exceptional and far more prevalent than in past games. The tutorials and User Experience have been upgraded once again: you can now test weapon upgrades before confirming their purchase. Furthermore, despite the inclusion of new features, enhanced graphics, and the constant barrage of animations, the game still feels more polished and optimized than its predecessors (although a lot of this is because of the natural technological progress of recent years). There's no need to even discuss the audio department, it's excellent as always.
It's a shame that the usual issues remain (post-game, side content, and gameplay variety). That being said, this entry is by far the one I've enjoyed the most in the entire series and I am waiting, just like pretty much all the fans, for some updates on the rumored sequel currently in development.

good game but definitely overrated. the combat is fun but the enemy diversity is so repetitive. playing as V is lame and boring and made me quit the game. boss fights and music is great and cutscenes and leveling system is good. level design is boring.

Devil May Cry V rises above the rest of Hack And Slash and by its own merits becomes the current benchmark of the genre.

Devil May Cry 5 is 99 percent about doing things that are totally sweet and looking totally sweet while doing them. There’s no thematic depth waiting beneath its bombastic, blood-drenched glamour and its vulcanizing, improvisational violence choreography. But when Hideaki Itsuno’s unlikely sequel drew me into a meditative flow of stabbing angry skeletons with a sword the height and width of a Bob’s Big Boy statue, I still found myself carried back to electric moments and powerful memories.

Aside from my story gripes with Lady and Trish and my couple of issues with the Devil Breaker, Devil May Cry 5 practically exceeded my expectations. As a fan of the series all the way back to day one, and especially a fan of Devil May Cry 4 and my man dude Nero, Devil May Cry 5 is not only an excellent character action game. It’s also a mostly satisfying end to the story. I’m sure there’s more Devil May Cry to be had from here, but the story that started all the way back 2001 finally feels like a complete work, and that’s a rare treat.

Devil May Cry 5 is a solid, addictive and visually satisfying entry in the DMC series. With a little bit more content, it would have been an even better game.

Devil May Cry 5 is a very good and engaging episode for the lovable franchise. All three playable characters feel great, and you really should try it if you're a fan of the beat-them-all genre.

As much as I can gripe about its flaws, it’s hard not to grin when you’re shoving a running motorcycle wheel into a demon’s face. But this won’t become another action game classic.

Being forced to play with Nero breaks the flow of DMC games. Buying Devil Breakers repeatedly and with limited use from my experience was horrible. Playing with Dante on the other hand gives so much freedom and utility with trickster style especially. Nero didn't work in my opinion and won't play with him again in the upcoming series if Capcom decides to do so.

The developers were unable to improve even after many years. Along with the consequential implementation of some pupulating in-game elements that catered to marketing expert-managers' demands, it became a foolish opportunity for the DMC5 developers to create the worst Devil May Cry game. As a result, it unfortunately delivers empty areas without objects, architecture, platform or environmental gameplay. This allows the dumb AI enemies to remain dumb, as they won't get stuck anywhere or cause any game freezes, also the worst idea and dumbest thing: the auto-combo mode wich shouldn't exist in an game, can be used in an empty and dumb content. The only redeeming factor are some boss battles, of those found in previous DMC games. If you would like to give a try DMC4 special offers much better and more varied content, in high performance 60FPS. Or try the much better, smarter and harder challanging combats, great gameplay, strong artdesign and performance "Metal Gear Rising"
SummaryA brand-new entry in the over-the-top action series comes complete with its signature blend of high-octane stylized action and otherworldly and original characters the series is known for. Years have passed since the legions of hell have set foot in this world, but now a new demonic invasion has begun, and humanity’s last hope will rest ... Read More
