Black Panther is just yet another generic, sluggish, Marvel superhero movie with some Lion King flavor thrown in for good measure. And it would be completely forgettable if it wasn't for the bafflingly high "professional" review scores which would have you believe this is the pinnacle of filmmaking. Sad times to be a movie fan, sad times indeed.

Extremely unhappy with the characterization of Luke and the mistreatment of important plot points carefully set up in The Force Awakens, which are unceremoniously discarded here. As a Star Wars fan it really pains me but I simply can't give The Last Jedi a good score. And as Mark Hamill said in an interview talking about Rian Johnson's choices for TLJ, "I fundamentally disagree with everything you've written".

A very solid movie on its own with a very beautiful and moving message of hope for mankind. This is truly what the world needs right now in such troubled times.

Basically an improved version of Prometheus with less nonsense and better action/pacing. Fassbender is still the best thing about the movie, and the story and the characters are still lackluster. Hopefully the third time is a charm if/when they decide to make a sequel, which I would watch.

Look folks, this is a guilty pleasure type of movie nothing more nothing less, it's an easy target and nothing about it is believable or realistic, and what does it matter. Do you go watch Super-Hero-Movie #4000 for its oh-so realistic depiction of daily life? Don't think so buddy. So why hold this movie to randomly high standards instead of taking it for the silly fantasy that it is. At the end of the day the acting is good and the actors can make you care about the characters, and if you're into this sort of thing you can have a good time or even laugh at the absurdity of it all, or both why not.

I don't know how to describe Rogue One for the first hour and half other than I was utterly bored out of my mind. However, the last thirty minutes were full and engrossing enough to salvage this troubled movie. But surely you can do better than that, Disney.

How do you even describe this movie? There's no beginning, middle, or end, it's a mish mash of random stuff thrown together with no context or story. The dozens of characters are introduced in a matter of minutes and you're expected to care right away. There's no evolution, no arc, no story, no themes. A waste of time that's what it is.

"Warcraft" is not the trainwreck the critics would have you believe, but it is a mixed bag: The good: - a rich, engaging world and lore - interesting and conflicted characters that you care about - good cgi, especially the facial performances from the orcs - gets you excited for the sequels The bad: - poor pacing, didn't need to be 2h long - drowns the audience in unnecessary information - lacks a focused story and strong protagonist - some questionable performances from the human characters - not a lot of action I think most mainstream audiences will find it boring, because if you're not a fan and already know where the story lines will go the movie doesn't give you a reason to care, it just bombards you with exposition which is not the right way to do it. But, and it's a big but, at least the movie has a heart and soul and you can tell the people behind it cared, and that makes a heck of a difference in forgiving the movie's shortcomings. I usually don't say that but in this case I hope we do get a sequel because the potential is definitely there.

A much better movie than Ultron but it suffers from the same problems, namely trying to fit too much stuff into a single movie. You got a Winter Soldier sequel, an Ultron sequel, a backdoor pilot for Spider-man and Black Panther, a political and personal drama, and a setup for the next installments... How about just making one cohesive movie? My biggest pet peeve with those movies is that they're constantly taking huge leaps of logic which are presented as making perfect sense when they really don't. In this movie we're supposed to buy that Captain America and Iron-man would go to "war" over a disagreement that could have been easily worked out. There's also tonal issues where the movie jumps from ultra serious to slapstick comedy and it doesn't really go together. Take for example the airport scene which is great, but doesn't really match the tone of the rest of the movie and to be honest THAT is the movie I want to see rather than this tired, sluggish, forced drama. I just don't care about the problems of fictional country Sokovia, I just want to see a fun hero movie.

I enjoyed the first half hour or so because it was just about the two sisters and Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron had a very good chemistry together, but then the movie got progressively worse and worse and worse. This movie should have been just Winter's War and it would have been great, the huntsman part was boring and lazy, they just wanted to shoehorn Hemsworth in the movie and his character wasn't interesting at all. Theron's character has a line near the end of the movie where she says something like "you wasted all your potential" and ironically it pretty much sums up this mess of a prequel/sequel/spin-off movie.

Deadpool is exactly the movie promised by the marketing campaign: it's a really fun and silly ride. Basically everything that a good popcorn movie should be.

I didn't know much about Steve Jobs' personal life outside of his public persona and I still don't after watching this, which for a movie called "Steve Jobs" is a pretty big failure to me. There are so many flaws with the concept of the movie... First off, you basically have to have read his biography to understand what the heck is even going on which is a lot to ask from the viewer, secondly it's not even interesting it's the same 40 minute scene repeated 3 times with little variation. No character development, no story, no nothing, just people pissed at that one guy that's it. Even Fassbender's performance which received massive praise is nothing special if you've seen him in other movies, he's a very charismatic actor but it's not like he's stretching his range by any mean here it's the same thing he always does, there's no point in the movie where you think "this is Steve Jobs".

You can choose to be bitter and complain that it's too much like A New Hope or just enjoy what this new SW movie has to offer. The new characters are fantastic, the acting is on point, the effects are a pleasure for the eyes, with CGI that's not overdone, and I for one can't wait for Ep VIII or even Rogue One next year. Star Wars is back guys, just let it in!

I enjoyed the first part of the movie a lot, the kids were cute and their perspective was great at translating that same sense of wonderment the original Jurassic Park had. I enjoyed much less how the movie become a dumb monster movie along with a case of "too many cooks" with too many plot lines and too many characters competing for attention in the second half. They also could have done a much better job with Chris Pratt's and Bryce Dallas Howard's characters who are basically dumb caricatures, and I hated that cliched military bad guy. Last complaint : too much CG, everything looked fake, especially the Dinos, everything on screen was too clean, too bright, too crisp. The last action scenes was particularly ludicrous, defying all sense of realism.

Having watched The Winter Soldier only recently, Age of Ultron really paled in comparison. The movie is just so bloated, there's too much going on but at the same time not much of anything because none of it is given enough time to develop properly. Countless characters are introduced throughout the movie in a matter of seconds and the story is shifting constantly, it's exhausting and not in a good way. I miss the simplicity and fun that the first Avengers had... On the plus side, Vision was very cool.

Snowpiercer is a very pretentious and dumb movie trying to pass itself for social commentary on class warfare but utterly fails at it. What the writers and director forgot when making the movie is that at its core class warfare is about resources: you got a small minority controlling most of the resources and a huge majority fighting for the scraps. It's a powerful topic because it's as old as humanity and echoes to one of our core flaws as human beings: greed. But this whole concept goes out the window when there isn't any resource left to fight over anyway. Indeed the movie is about a bunch of people living in a small train in a post-apocalyptic world where there's nothing else left in the world! So what exactly is the point of having a bunch of people in that train starving to death for no reason when: a) they have enough food for everyone. It's clearly shown when you see how well the other passengers are living. b) those people aren't even working for the leisure of the "upper class", they aren't producing anything or working, they're literally just there to starve for no reason, simply as a plot device. c) they all live in a freaking small train, they're all miserable anyway. There's no "good life" to be had at the expense of others, unlike in the real world. The movie doesn't provide any answer, it's all form over substance, pure shock value with no understanding of the underlying issues that create those very real problems. But even with that aside it's just an all-around bad movie in general, with next to no character development, bad pacing, bad dialog. The stupidity of the whole story is what pushes it into unbearable territory. A shame because Chris Evans does give a very good performance all throughout.

Not a bad movie per se, but at the same time there really is nothing interesting to this story. What's the takeaway, that different species will fight to protect themselves when they feel threatened, and violence is not nice? Because somehow that wasn't obvious?? It may look like a smart movie, but at the end of the day it's really a dumb movie with no idea of what it's trying to convey. And it's boring, which critics seem to automatically confuse for deep and provoking.

Poor world building, non-existent character development, predictable story, sluggish pacing, recycled ideas, ridiculous attempts at making a parallel with world war 2.... I can't give this movie more than 4, and it's all because of the excellent acting from both leads, especially Emily Blunt, who is terrific as always. This movie is only good if you've never seen a movie about a time loop before.

Fairly strong and solid first half that succeeds in raising interest and anticipation, but then the movie takes a very wrong turn and devolves into mindless, pointless action for the whole remaining hour.

Much better than the first one, which was unsalvageable, but the pacing is still atrocious. There's no good reason for this movie to be 2 hours and 40 minutes long, and as a result it hurts the overall experience. The director shouldn't force on the audience all this unnecessary material that degrades the overall movie, it should be the director's cut for fans. It's a shame because it could have been an excellent movie without the bloat.

Having loved Tangled, and seeing all those glowing reviews for Frozen I fully expected to enjoy this one, but alas I was severely let down by it. I have two major problems with Frozen: the story and the characters. Simply put, they're mediocre. Where Tangled had a very funny and well developed heroin, Frozen tries to juggle two heroins and fails miserably at it. None of them end up being developed at all, they come across as very generic and forgettable, which is not what you would want in a movie centered on characters. Same thing with the supporting characters, all very bland and generic except for Olaf, he's hilarious. Next the story, it's an absolute mess. In the first 20 mins, we experience three major dramatic moments and a 15 year time jump. Only to then have the rest of the movie with NOTHING going on until the last 20 mins. There's also zero world building, we see nothing of the world or the people inhabiting it, whereas in Tangled we did get to travel across the world and go on an exciting adventure with our characters. Here we see a castle and a mountain, and that's it. The themes of the story are also muddled and don't come through at all like in Brave for example. In the end Frozen felt rushed, unfocused and boring. A major step backward for Disney.

Great movie. The first half in particular is exceptional, fresh after the events of the first movie it does an amazing job at showing us the ramification of those events. It also fixes all the issues of the first movie by properly building the world this time around so you can understand the gravity of what's at stake, and by making that world truly feel tri-dimensional. All of that while also keeping a perfect pace. The second half is still pretty good, but not as good. The problem is that it focuses too much on what's going on in the dome right there instead of showing us what it means on a larger scale, and as a result the movie does lose some of the depth it had built during the first half. Still, it's a massive improvement over the previous one which was already quite good. Can't wait for the next one!

Completely blown away, best movie of the year in my opinion. Technically flawless with masterful pacing and perfect performances, not to mention haunting sound editing, it's all there and more. For 90 minutes, which felt like a lifetime because of intense and packed the movie was, you feel like you're in space, struggling for survival against all odds. How often does a movie achieve something like that?

An amazing visual ride with a heart and soul, unlike many many blockbusters. The visuals alone are incredible, it's not just about making it look "realistic" but also about making it visually pleasing as well! The colors and the lighting effects were so beautiful and vibrant, an absolute delight for the eyes, and I didn't even see it in IMAX. The story and characters are pretty basic so you shouldn't see this movie if those are your highest priorities, but it's done well enough as to not be insulting to the audience and gets the movie going. The thing I really appreciated in this movie is that there are no "bad guy" character ruining all the pace and the fun, it's just people trying to survive and everyone doing their best against the big monsters, simple as that! What made this movie work above all for me is the tone, it knows how to be serious and tense when it needs to, but it never forgets that the story is ridiculous and knows not to take itself too seriously, again unlike MANY blockbusters lately. I also loved the positivity, again unlike all our current "dark" blockbusters, it's such a breath of fresh air to go see a movie that doesn't leave you depressed at the end that I just had to commend Pacific Rim for that!

Beautiful colors, beautiful music, beautiful shots, beautiful actors. Isn't this a lovely way to waste an hour and half watching a movie with nothing going on, interrupted only periodically with some senseless violence and culminating of course with nothing? Meh.

I judge movies based on what they promise versus what they deliver. The first MoS trailer and the following trailers promised a deep story centered on Clark and his quest on finding his place in the world to ultimately become the savior of humanity, this is what they were teasing in a nutshell. But instead what we got is a glorified Transformers-like movie: no real characters, no deep story, mostly stuff exploding for half the movie. The screenplay is particularly inept, it tries to cram so many insignificant details (do we absolutely need to know what the codex thingy came from or look like for example...) at the expense of smooth transitions (scenes can literally jump from two people in a room to them standing in the desert), character development (the characters are cardboard cut outs, and no, 3 flashbacks of 5 mins are not enough to actually flesh out a character sorry), and most importantly storytelling: indeed the whole movie is constructed like one giant exposition, you spend most of the time catching up on things that already happened instead of having the story naturally unfold before you, and it's not a particularly interesting or original one at that. So in conclusion, my hat's off to the marketing team, because they did a hell of a job hyping up this movie and making it look like something worthy of interest, I just wish the actual filmmakers could have been as competent as them.

To me this movie clearly signals the decline of the superhero genre as a whole, with Avengers having been the peak. It was just so underwhelming and boring with very few action scenes, a flat and self indulgent humour, shallow "characters" (can they really be called characters at this point, I mean a guy in the movie ends up wanting to destroy the world because he got stood up seriously...), and an extremely clumsy plot with a very silly twist that makes little sense. The tone was also all over the place, alternating between silly bits (which weren't particularly funny, except for one or two one-liners, just absurd) and pretty grave and dark bits, all with almost no transition. I really hope Man of Steel and Wolverine can bring it back, because this is just not what a good superhero should be like in my honest opinion and it failed at making me excited for phase 2 of the Avengers.

By any mean not a masterpiece not even close, I'd say barely decent at best. But, but, for what it is I thought it played its strength well with a very likable cast and a silly but cute story. It reminded me of Silver Linings Playbook because its message which is basically the same thing: it's never too late to come back from the "dead" and be happy, in this case literally.

To me the most important elements of a movies are the story and character development, and this movie has none of these. The story is virtually non-existent and amounts to a succession of chase/fight/rest rinse and repeat for 3 hours. The supporting characters are completely blank, (save maybe for Thorin, the only half decent supporting character with Gandalf) and Bilbo is also fairly uninteresting (there's being laid back and there's having no presence on screen). And the pacing... this movie is absolutely too long with no real reason to it. I had never seen a 3 hour movie that manages to have no character development, it's quite a feat when you think about it. So yeah in my opinion this movie is very shallow despite its great effects, I also liked the 48 fps format I think it has a lot of potential (especially during action scenes) but when it's all mixed with atrocious pacing, zero story and bland characters then it's just a waste of 3 hours.

I'm genuinely surprised this movie is getting such rave reviews, I thought it was awful. It tries so hard to be dark and serious, but to me it came across as completely shallow. I never felt empathy for Bond in this movie, and I don't get how I was supposed to when he never shows any emotion or attachment to anything the whole movie. That would have been OK if it was just about him being a badass but here they spend huge chunks of the movie where you're supposed to buy that he's "vulnerable" and "complex". But it kinda doesn't work when the guy is practically invincible and nothing ever affects him, in fact I would have been ok if they did a twist where they tell you Bond was actually a robot all along, that's how wooden the character was. So yeah, the psychology aspect just didn't do it for me, and not helping matters there was only one really memorable action scene and it's in the opening sequence (the intro was amazing I'll give the movie that) : it was basically a borefest for two hours after the intro. You could argue it's the second "best" JB movie based on the cinematography alone because it's true the movie is beautifully shot, but then again it doesn't matter when you don't care about anything that's going on. That wasn't the case in Casino Royale where I genuinely cared about the character, because they showed you he was human and not just a cold robot.

Not much to say, this is an absolutely mediocre movie. Some fight scenes and effects are nice... and that's it. "Characters" are not interesting in the least, the "plot" is ridiculous, it's overlong, over dramatic. I can't even enjoy it as a brainless fun because of serious it takes itself, this movie just fails on every possible level, except maybe the music which is pretty nice. This movie is just an epic disaster that could have been a career ender for Snyder if he hadn't had the presence of mind of securing Man of Steel prior to **** Punch. Let's just hope Man of Steel turns out better.

It's not a perfect movie, it's clunky and drags too long at times, but in the end this is the kind of movies that will stick with me for a long time after seeing it. The funny thing is that the movie is trying to illustrate that all the little things that bother you in life don't matter in the end, that it's all about the people and things you love, that those are the things you'll remember at the end of it all. And the movie embodies that very idea oh so well by being itself a mixed bag, but just like life it's not the pesky problems that you remember at the end, it's the good times. For this reason "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" gets exponentially better as time goes by after seeing it, such a beautiful movie.

Realistically, this movie probably isn't worth more than a 7, mainly because of the redundancy with the first Spider-man movie. Yes, The Amazing Spider-man promised us an "untold story", but turns out it was just false promises, it ends up being an almost copy of the first film, just improved. The biggest improvement it brings to the table is the romance, or should I say the love interest. Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy was a joy, she was an actual character that could stand on her own and not just a pretty prize like Mary Jane in the original trilogy. The interactions between her and Peter were really cute too (also great chemistry between the two actors), you get the feel they were partners supporting each other, which you didn't get at all in the Raimi trilogy, Mary Jane was more of a burden on Peter than anything else. It's simply put the best romance I've seen in any superhero movies to date. Special effects were pretty good too, especially Spider-man swinging, and the pacing was very good, I was never bored or wondering what was the point of a scene any time during the film. The weakest point of the movie was the villain though, he came across as very cartoony (and frankly stupid) which really clashed with the otherwise realistic interactions between the characters, his plan wasn't very smart either. Ultimately, this movie suffers from not departing enough from the original movie, which depending on how much you like the character, or how fresh the original is in your mind, may or may not be a problem. For me it just wasn't but I can see how it could be for some. Overall though this is still a very solid superhero movie in my opinion.

How The Dark Knight Rises got away with such generous reviews is a bit of a mystery to me. Well not really, I suppose when fans put so much pressure on critics as to send them death threats it kinda has an influence on them. Not to mention the giant hype behind the movie, yes I guess everything adds up. Everything except for a small detail: the movie is just garbage. Yes the movie does look great in IMAX, but again so did Transformers 3, that doesn't make a movie good by itself, you need more than that. Where's the interesting plot? Bad guys come make Gotham explode, THAT's the best they could come up with? Hmm ok, well at least the pacing must be good right? Nope, the thing lasts for 2 hours and 40 mins, with lots of time wasted on pointless exposition and not enough well, actually getting the movie going. OK ok, yes this is not so great but the characters have to be really good I'm sure. Yeah well guess what since almost every character from the previous films ended up dead, we have to start all over with new ones, which means we don't get to know them, and we waste precious time introducing them, and even then they're that great to begin with. Bane is incredibly bland and is basically just a glorified body guard, Selina Kyle is a lot of fun but totally unnecessary (you could easily write her out of the film with almost no change), and Miranda Tate just comes way too late into the trilogy to have any chance of being memorable. The only new character that was well developed is Blake, but then again so much time is dedicated to him instead of, well friggin Batman... you know the thing you actually go see a Batman movie for. And to add insult to injury, Nolan takes his audience for absolute idiots, with a script that is filled with inconsistencies and contradictions; scenes would start in daylight and then it's night 2 seconds later, characters would get mortally wounded only to be fine few minutes later magically (for a trilogy that prides itself in blending realism with comic books that's just inexcusable), and so on and so forth for the entire movie. This movie is a let down plain and simple, I knew it could never be as great as The Dark Knight, but I sure wasn't prepare for it to be this awful.

I had zero expectation going into Snow White and the Huntsman and yet it failed to even meet basic expectations like making any sense or being just entertaining. The script is just incredibly clumsy with characters teleporting from one place to another instantaneously for the convenience of the plot, the dialog is very basic, the characters are also very bland, and the pacing is particularly atrocious (what's up with movies nowadays lasting 2 hours and there's nothing going on for half an hour often time?). And what about the acting, oh my... Theron starts off great, her character seems vicious and menacing, but she quickly falls apart as she starts yelling in every scene she's in; yelling isn't scary it shows the character is powerless, the most scary villains are the ones that don't need to say a word to inspire fear (like Vader in ep IV during the duel with Luke). Stewart is equally terrible but unlike Theron it's because she's so amazingly stiff, she has absolutely no range in this movie, when her character is happy, or scared, or sad, she always has the same freaking face; it's so ridiculous that they had to put fake tears in her eyes in some scenes to show that yes she is indeed sad or you wouldn't know based on her face, just ridiculous. Hemsworth isn't any better either, his character is very shallow, the best I can think of to describe him would be a failed Han Solo, a kind of scoundrel that gets better as the movie progresses, only done much more clumsily. All I can say is congratulation to the people who worked on the costumes and the CGI, because that's the only good thing you can say about this movie, yes it looks absolutely gorgeous, but it's not enough to carry a bad movie anymore and I'm not sure it ever was to begin with.

I enjoyed The Hunger Games a lot, but there are definitely some problems with the movie that prevented it from being truly amazing in my opinion. For starters the movie has some very interesting themes and ideas (like using terror to subdue the masses, etc...) but sadly they're very underused, which is understandable as you don't have as much time in a film. But if the movie is going to lose in depth I expected it to make up in pacing and action, and unfortunately the pacing was very slow at times and I found myself very bored in the middle of the movie because of the heavy exposition that wasn't very well done, so it was a lose-lose situation. The next problem I had were the action sequences, it's simple you couldn't see a damn thing. Now, this has some upsides, for example the violence wasn't shown in a epic fashion and at the same time they would spend a great amount of time showing you the consequences of it, which makes it very real and poignant, but the big downside like I said is that you can't see a damn thing and have no idea what just happened. Overall though I enjoyed the characters and performances a lot, the actors did a great job I think. So yeah all in all The Hunger Games is the perfect example **** movie that has the potential to be amazing with its sequels, if they manage to fix the small issues, and turn it into a great trilogy, which I'm hopeful they will.

Yes the final reveal/twist was cute, is it enough to make a bad movie work? No, you can ask Shyamalan he'd know. This movie spends so much time trying to be "meta" and clever that it completely forgets it's supposed to entertain its audience. There's just nothing going on for the entire first half hour! And then it takes another half hour to really get going, already wasting 1 hour for nothing. By the time the big reveal happens I didn't care, and why would I as the movie makes no effort at all to make the characters or the story interesting. No work no payoff, sorry.

Best superhero movie experience since X-Men 2 for me, it was just so much fun seeing these over the top characters argue and ultimately work with one another. The funny and clever humor, the great action, and the enjoyable and interesting characters, are the reasons why The Avengers is an above average superhero movie I think.

To be honest I never thought Christian Bale was that incredible as an actor... until I saw this movie, and I was blown away. What a an amazing performance, being able to create a character so deep but completely shallow at the same time. It's like Dexter, but 10 times more insane, satirical and absolutely terrifying.
