RoboCop is no canned remake of the 1987 action film. It's a reimagining that responds to everything that has changed in American life over the past 27 years, addressing new threats and exploiting new anxieties.

RoboCop is topically up-to-the-moment but stylistically it’s retro. Far from using the story as an excuse to string together cheap thrills and blowout spectacle, its hero has all the heart of the Tin Man.

Though this RoboCop can’t come close to capturing the clever-silly audacity of the original, one area in which the current film easily surpasses it is in the quality of the cast.

In some ways, the thoughtful, dense script marks an improvement on the original, and the cast is certainly tonier this time around. What’s missing is the original’s evil wit, amoral misanthropy and subversive slipperiness.

The film doesn't embarrass itself or dishonor its predecessor, which is something.

Any improvements over the original RoboCop are mere window dressing, more a superficial function of technical advances in filmmaking than of any sort of storytelling prowess or fresh narrative ideas.

A deafening, boring action pile-up that is more Call of Duty than Robocop.

Robocop was directed by a Brazilian company that makes a good action movie with good story, script more or less, and special effect but not excellent've seen better'll hit more with the idea that it passes.

Surprisingly fun movie that fails to fully make use of the original material beyond the a few names, brands and the titular robo himself. If it had shed the attachment to the original, I think it would stand quite well on its own merit as a dystopian sci-fi action flick. Casting, VFX, screenplay and soundtrack are all good enough if you're in the mood for this sort of movie. Decent, and weirdly feels worse knowing it's attached to the franchise. Honestly would've added an extra +1 to my score if it has just been unaffiliated with a different title.

A far more hollow and less complex character and story I feel the one thing I think this story does better is how it handled the family matters and that is more because those always ended up not being fully fleshed out in the older movies

When I heard that they were making Robocop remake I was stoked. I mean the story could easily be retold and the visual that modern effects can would make the movie look awesome. Yet even with a good good story to tell Hollywood still messed it up. They went from bashing commercialism to talking about how bad technology is, or how good it is, the movie does not make it's view vary clear. The movie seems to want to make the viewer hate technology but at the end it states the opposite making the viewer vary confused. The worst sin that this movie commits however is the fact that it is lame. The action is slow and boring along with the fact that there is few action scenes to see. This is bad because fast based action is what the original was known for. In conclusion if your looking to see a good action movie watch the original and stay far away from this piece of crab.

Adds nothing new that warrants a reboot. CGI is more polished, but the movie offers little drama or suspension. Sadly, as I have been hoping for a reboot for a very long time. But the old Alex Murphy sells it better, and the dystopian scifi setting of the original movies don't seem to follow into the reboot. Part of the old Robocop series' magic was seeing how this grim and hopeless civilization survived itself. In short, this movie is 'okay', but in no way outstanding.
