A magnificent science-fiction film, all the more intriguing because it raises questions about the origin of human life and doesn't have the answers.

We are left, after all the propulsive action, with great turns by Theron and Rapace, and a tightly wound turn by Fassbender, whose eerie, poetically impish mechanical man might have burst from Bradbury's conscience.

Greetings from Lithuania. "Prometheus" (2012) is a great sci-fi thriller, adventure epic. It works as a prequel to "Alien" as well as standalone story. Production values are first rate. Cast was great and everyone did uniformly good job with Michael Fassbender stealing every scene he is in. Many disliked this film because it plays in many genres - it is one of the rare sci-fi movies which can be safely placed under adventure, thriller and even horror sci-fi movies. Overall, "Prometheus" can be uneven, but it is a great sci-fi movie which has a big scope, plays with big ideas and doesn't forget to show some chilly moments - all wrapped up in a terrific production values. Special effects, cinematography, set design and music were all excellent.

Different from the other films with a switch of focus away from the Xenomorph, but I loved it. Great visuals, good story and fascinating

The ending isn't squishy scary or deeply satisfying. Bummer. Otherwise, Prometheus – especially in its spellbinding first hour – kicks ass so hard and often that it's impossible not to be thrilled by it.

The virtuosity on display makes the weakness of the story all the more frustrating. I'll avoid spoilers here, but Prometheus kind of spoils itself with twists and reversals that pull the movie away from its lofty, mind-blowing potential.

Buffeted by a lack of suspense, threadbare characters, and a very poor script, the stunning visuals, gloopy madness, and sterling Fassbenderiness can't prevent Prometheus feeling like Alien's poor relation.

It's clumsy revisionism. As storytelling, its simplistic characters and ludicrous situations would embarrass a ninth-grader shooting a short film on a digital phone. Not one of its alleged revelations has the power to surprise.

It aspires to Stanley Kubrick's "2001", but in its maddeningly unresolved plot threads and cornball cosmic mysticism, it lands closer to "Mission to Mars" -though Prometheus lacks any action set piece as gripping as the Brian De Palma film's sentient sandstorm.

After horrible Alien resurrection, this feels like something finally is happening, instead of just 3 movies on a row- ‘Here’s alien, he kills all the crew, then he crawls to the escape pod and we decide depending on how movie performs if we gonna film the next one.”. Although lots of questions remained unanswered, which deems the movie unwatchable again.

Ridley Scott's legendary attention to detail is on full display here, although I couldn't help but wish for a more complete, uninhibited plot to go along with it. For all his promises that Prometheus wouldn't just be a prequel to Alien, the director sure seems stretched to bring the two films together. That's a pity, because while the core questions that Prometheus asks are worthwhile if not unique, its constant urge to poke and prod several of Alien's richest, most eccentric mysteries keep it tethered to the ground floor. A more compassionate cast may have smoothed over some of those rough spots, but this tight squad of explorers is thoroughly cold and conniving, naïve and unlikable at their best. I wanted to adore this, and for the whole of the concept-heavy first act I did, but by the onset of the final standoff I'd been bucked like a fledgling space cowboy. Fantastic, breathtaking special effects, stirring atmosphere and an astounding vision of near-future tech only go so far.

One of the worst movies in the franchise, along with the Covenant. Please end this arc and save Romulus.
